The Trainers that can appear are the same ones who would be eligible to appear with a consecutive Battle Tree win streak equal to the agent's current grade, except that Battle Legends and other famous Trainers will never appear in the Battle Agency, apart from its own unique bosses. Agents are awarded Festival Coins (abbreviated as FC) based on the number of wins, with a minimum participation prize of 5 FC. The agent is allowed to borrow new Pokémon or switch teammates in the middle of a challenge. If the agent loses and restarts the challenge within the same day, they will battle against the exact same Trainers and teams as before. However, the Trainers in the Battle Agency are reset once midnight has passed. Additionally, if the agent loses against [[Sophocles]] prior to the interlude that introduces [[Episode RR]], but proceeds to view that interlude and restarts the challenge within the same day, the battle against Sophocles is replaced by a battle against a replica of [[Giovanni]], and a different team, once the agent reaches that point.

The Battle Agency (Japanese: バトルエージェント Battle Agent) is a battle facility located on Festival Plaza. It was introduced in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.

Challenge

The Battle Agency is a facility where a challenger uses a borrowed Pokémon and battle along with visitors in the Festival Plaza. During a challenge, the player is an agent and has a grade that determines the level and strength of their Pokémon. An agent's grade increases with the number of successful challenges.

Battles will be three-on-three in Single Battle format. Before beginning, the player can borrow one Pokémon from a selection of three possibilities shown on the screen behind the reception desk. The other two Pokémon come from other Trainers in the Festival Plaza and are based on the Pokémon they are currently borrowing. The player must invite two Trainers to form a team of three. In the instance when there are no more available Trainers in the player's Festival Plaza to choose from, or if the player decides not to choose both players from the Plaza, random Festival Fans will be generated to be fill up the remaining one or two spaces on the player's team. Their Pokémon will be set as grade 0.

Each challenge consists of three battles against programs simulating Battle Tree Trainers. The Trainers that can appear are the same ones who would be eligible to appear with a consecutive Battle Tree win streak equal to the agent's current grade, except that Battle Legends and other famous Trainers will never appear in the Battle Agency, apart from its own unique bosses. Agents are awarded Festival Coins (abbreviated as FC) based on the number of wins, with a minimum participation prize of 5 FC. The agent is allowed to borrow new Pokémon or switch teammates in the middle of a challenge. If the agent loses and restarts the challenge within the same day, they will battle against the exact same Trainers and teams as before. However, the Trainers in the Battle Agency are reset once midnight has passed. Additionally, if the agent loses against Sophocles prior to the interlude that introduces Episode RR, but proceeds to view that interlude and restarts the challenge within the same day, the battle against Sophocles is replaced by a battle against a replica of Giovanni, and a different team, once the agent reaches that point.

The three Pokémon that may be borrowed from the screen are shuffled after each successful challenge, at the start of the next day, or if agent uses a Switcheroo facility in Festival Plaza. If the agent has already borrowed a Pokémon, they can continue to use it even after the Pokémon have been shuffled for one of these reasons, but if a successful challenge causes their grade to increase, they lose access to the previously selected rental Pokémon and are required to borrow a new one from the reshuffled screen, and choose their two teammates again. If the screen is shuffled by using the Switcheroo facility, certain Pokémon sets are guaranteed not to appear in the selection: if the player's grade is less than 50 and there is a weather or terrain condition in effect for the day, a curated list of Pokémon that do not synergize well with that condition are removed from the random drawing. If the field is clear, or if the player's grade has already reached 50 regardless of condition, then the excluded sets are mostly defensive-minded sets, such as those that rely on Toxic to deal damage.

If the player has not yet obtained the Key Stone supplement to their Z-Power Ring by beating Dexio in Poni Plains, then any Pokémon on the screen that would normally have its Mega Stone will be shown without an item instead, and if the agent chooses to borrow that Pokémon, it will not be able to Mega Evolve in battle. The agent's teammates, including nameless Festival Fans, can have Pokémon equipped with their Mega Stones even if the player doesn't have the Key Stone, and those Pokémon will still be able to Mega Evolve.

Starting at grade 10, a battle setting may appear to further test an agent's ability. At the beginning of a battle, a certain weather effect or field effect may be added. As the agent's grade increases, the set of possible battle settings expands. The battle setting is reset at the beginning of each day or when new battle settings are unlocked.

An agent's grade directly determines the level of their borrowed Pokémon and the level of their opponents' Pokémon.

Bosses

At every 10 grades, starting from grade 9, a boss battle program will be loaded during the third battle of the last challenge. At grade 50, a boss will appear for the third battle every five challenges. If a boss is defeated, the agent will receive a Gold Bottle Cap at the reception desk.
