Synopsis

Template:Incomplete synopsis When Ash tries to catch a Dunsparce, he accidentally smashes the flowers Axew picked for Iris, and Axew accidentally bumps into Pikachu when it was using Electro Ball, allowing Dunsparce to get away, causing Ash and Iris to get mad at each other. After Ash accidentally gives Iris a bitter apple, she claims he did it on purpose and leaves the group, tired of him being "such a little kid". They argue until Iris states that she's tired of travelling with him and that their friendship is over. Cilan and Pikachu sadly watch as Iris walks away with Axew. Cilan and Ash walk after her since they're all going down the same path. Iris yells at them to stop following her then proceeds to travel by treetop.

Later that day, Ash and Cilan set up for camp. They let out their Pokémon and begin to make dinner. Ash accidentally sets up a third place at the table as Scraggy looks around worriedly for Axew. Ash tells everyone that Iris and Axew left to continue on alone. Everyone looks sad but Ash temporarily cheers them up by saying dinner is done. Meanwhile Iris and Axew are sitting in a tree branch eating fruit. Iris states that Ash can't tell the difference between bitter and sweet fruit. After thinking about it, she smiles and states that it doesn't matter because they're not friends anymore. Axew looks down sadly and eats his fruit.

Ash decides to sleep in the treetop as his Pokémon and Cilan sleep on the ground. That morning, Scraggy and Pikachu go to look for Iris as Cilan looks on. Snivy uses her vine to wake Ash up. His Pokémon and Cilan encourage him to go after Scraggy and Pikachu to find Iris. He goes down the path along with Cilan. Disaster soon strikes as Team Rocket capture Scraggy and Pikachu. They stop Ash and Cilan by throwing a net over them. From out of nowhere, Iris tells Axew to use Dragon Rage and cut the rope. Iris catches Pikachu and Scraggy in the air as Ash and Cilan get free. Ash commands Pikachu to use Thunderbolt and send Team Rocket flying.

After the battle, Iris and Ash apologize to each other. Ash gives Iris a flower and Iris gives Ash a piece of fruit. They smile and laugh as their friendship is back to normal.
