Template:Incomplete synopsis Having arrived on Migration Island, Ash and company encounter a bunch of Metapod who evolve into Butterfree and then fly off as a part of the island's tradition. They find a Caterpie who didn't evolve into Metapod yet. Reminding him about his old friend, Ash decides to help Caterpie train, so it can evolve and leave with its family on time. With several obstacles like Ursaring and Team Rocket, will Ash help Caterpie evolve?

Who's That Pokémon?: Butterfree (Japan)

  • Professor Oak's Pokémon Live Caster: Zweilous
  • Ash and Iris narrate the preview for the next episode.
  • As of this episode, all of Ash's original six Pokémon (Charmander, Squirtle, Pidgeotto, Bulbasaur, Butterfree, Pikachu) have appeared in the Best Wishes series, either in flashbacks or in the flesh.
  • All the Butterfree in the episode appear to be male due to none of them having black marks on their wings. This appears to be an animation oversight, rather than the island only having male Butterfree on it.
  • This is one of the few times a background music from a previous series (in this case, "一件落着 The Matter is Settled") can be heard in the Best Wishes series, excluding music from movies.

  • Despite the Pink Butterfree being confirmed to be female, her design is not updated to show her with spots on the wings in the reanimated flashback to Bye Bye Butterfree.
  • During the brief scene showing Team Rocket after their motto, the Meowth balloon's ears are cream-colored like its face, instead of black.
  • During one scene when the group is training Metapod, Ash's eyes are colored black instead of brown.
  • In one scene, one of the video screens on the control panel of Team Rocket's balloon disappears.
  • When Team Rocket are blasted off, Woobat and Amoonguss disappear.
