File:AzureFluteSprite.png The Azure Flute (Japanese: てんかいのふえ Heaven Flute) is an event item received through a Nintendo Event needed to find Arceus in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl.

When the top of Mt. Coronet is reached, the player may choose to use the Azure Flute; this will cause a staircase to appear that the player can use to reach the Hall of Origin. It is said to play a tune that is beyond this world.

So far, this item has never been distributed anywhere in the world, even in Japan, and as such is only available by use of cheating or hacking.

Trivia

  • When the Azure Flute is used at Spear Pillar, it plays the first few notes of the game's intro cutscene.
  • The Surf glitch supercedes the need for the Azure Flute, as it can be used to reach the Hall of Origin. However, if the player didn't use the Azure Flute, the staircase will not be there, providing no exit.
  • Although the Azure Flute will remain in the Bag after it is used, once Arceus is caught, the Azure Flute will no longer summon the entrance to the Hall of Origin when played at the Spear Pillar. Instead, a message reading "The Azure Flute echoed hollowly..." will appear.
  • Despite being called a flute, it is actually visually closer to an ocarina.
