Similar to Bide, the user will store energy for a few turns and then release the energy to inflict damage, the amount of damage equaling the amount the user received during the "charging." The move will fail if the opposing Pokémon doesn't attack, if the user is under certain statuses like sleep or paralyze, or if the user faints.

Description

Games Description
MDTDS Gives the user a Bide status. A Pokémon that has a Bide status waits, then does double any damage it took under Bide status.

Trivia

  • Due to being introduced at different times, Avalanche (Alud) and Rock Slide (Avalancha) have Spanish game version names that would be more accurate if swapped around.
  • In Generations IV and V, Secret Power has the animation of Avalanche when used on snow or ice. In Generation VI, Secret Power instead shows the animation of Ice Shard if used on ice.
