Hoopa starts with the move. The user deals damage to opposing Pokémon in the designated area of effect, leaving them unable to act for a short time. At level 6 this move is replaced by either {{m|Phantom Force}} or {{m|Shadow Ball}}.

Effect

Astonish inflicts damage and has a 30% chance of causing the target to flinch.

In Generation III only, Astonish will deal double the damage if its target had previously used Minimize.
