Release information

This card was printed as one of the XY Black Star Promos, included in the Ash-Greninja-EX Box released April 13, 2016, as both a regular sized card and a Jumbo card.

In Japan, it was released as one of the XY-P Promotional cards, available to people who visited the Pokémon booth present at each venue hosting the 43rd Next Generation World Hobby Fair during the winter of 2016. The World Hobby Fair took place at Makuhari Messe, Chiba on January 23 and 24, 2016; at the Nagoya Dome, Nagoya on January 31, 2016; at the Kyocera Dome Osaka, Osaka on February 7, 2016; and at the Fukuoka Yahoo! Japan Dome, Fukuoka on February 14, 2016. Another print featuring the Pocket Monsters XY&Z logo was distributed through a TV Tokyo lottery in early 2016. To enter the lottery, Japanese residents were required to call TV Tokyo between December 24 and December 30, 2015. Winners were notified by January 18, 2016, 100 of which were given this card. Other available prizes included 1 of 4 high-class Pokémon Tretta tiles and an Ash-Greninja Moncollé figure.

It was released again in Japan with a different promotional number and was available as an insert with Limited Edition B copies of Pocket Monsters XY&Z TV Anime Character Song Project Collection Volume 2 -Compilation-, released on October 26, 2016. This print features an image of Ash Ketchum in the bottom left corner of the artwork. Another version of the CD, Limited Edition A, was released on the same day, but came packaged with an Altaria card instead.
