Ash used Glalie in the [[Ever Grande Conference]] where it proved to be a powerhouse in battles. It became Ash's trump card in many battles in the league, with the most notable being the battle with [[Morrison's Metang]], where it won, despite being at a type disadvantage. However, Ash left Glalie after the Hoenn League at [[Professor Oak]]'s lab.

History

As a Snorunt

Hoenn

Glalie made its first appearance as a Snorunt in Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snorunt! According to Nurse Joy, it goes into a Pokémon Center every time someone goes there. Snorunt then stole Ash's badge case, causing him to chase after it into a blizzard. Seeing that Ash was in danger after knocking his back on a rock, Snorunt built an igloo around him and gave him an apple to eat. Later, Ash saved Snorunt from Team Rocket, and after agreeing to battle it, Ash captured Snorunt with the help of Pikachu.

As a Snorunt it would occasionally use Icy Wind on others. Ash had also used Snorunt in the Gym battle against Juan. But due to its inexperience, it was defeated easily. Aside from this, it was not used much and instead extensively trained by Ash.

It had problems using Ice Beam, and could not aim properly. As a result of extensive training as well as with the help of Robert, Snorunt evolved into Glalie in Rhapsody In Drew while May was participating in the Grand Festival. Robert mentioned that since it has evolved, Glalie would not have any problems using Ice Beam.

Ash used Glalie in the Ever Grande Conference where it proved to be a strong Pokemon in battles.Glalie was used in many battles in the league, with the most notable being the battle with Morrison's Metang, where it won, despite being at a type disadvantage. However, Ash left Glalie after the Hoenn League at Professor Oak's lab.

Sinnoh

Glalie reappeared in DP182, alongside Ash's other Pokémon. It was hinted that he was again misusing Ice Beam and in effect, he froze Ash (although it could have frozen Ash out of affection). He appeared once more in DP185 training with Ash, alongside Torterra and Infernape.

Trivia

  • Glalie was the only one of Ash's Hoenn Pokémon that he did not use in the Battle Frontier at one time or another.
  • Glalie is Ash's second Template:Type2 Pokémon. His first was Lapras. However, Glalie is Ash's first pure Template:Type2 Pokémon, as Lapras was also part Template:Type2.
    • Ash's Lapras was released before Glalie was captured, making it the only Ice-type Pokémon Ash owns at this time.
  • Glalie was the only member of Ash's Hoenn team that did not appear in a Pokémon movie.
  • Glalie was the second one of Ash's Pokémon to have learned all of its moves in the evolution stage that he caught it in and evolved later, the other one being Pidgeot.
  • As a Snorunt, it was Ash's only Pokémon to have a branched evolution. But at the time of its capture, Snorunt only had one evolution.
  • In the English dub of Date Expectations!, Brock states that Snorunt "still needs to work on his Ice Beam", possibly implying that Snorunt is male. However, this is only in the English dub.
  • Glalie is similar to Dawn's Mamoswine in several ways.
    • Both were voiced by Kayzie Rogers in their base forms.
    • Both evolved in a battle with Team Rocket (for Mamoswine, both its evolutions happened this way).
    • Both are Ice-types that are part of an evolution chain that gained a new evolution or branched evolution in Generation IV.
    • Both were captured to stop them from causing trouble (Snorunt was stealing things, while Swinub was eating too much food)
