===Physiology===
Archeops is a large, flying creature that bears similarities to a dinosaur. Its featherless, scaly head is red with a green stripe running along the top. Its mouth is filled with sharp teeth. Its eyes are white with black pupils and no irises. Its body is covered with frayed-looking, yellow and blue feathers designed for flight on its arms and legs enabling all four of its limbs to act as wings. All of these "wings" bear sharp claws. It has a ring of smaller green feathers on the ankles. Its tail is completely red and featherless except for a fan of blue feathers at the end, and as with the ''{{wp|Archaeopterygiformes}}'', it has fully-movable vertebrae in its tail instead of a {{wp|pygostyle}}. Its plumage is very delicate.
Archeops is a large, flying creature that bears similarities to both birds and reptiles. Its featherless, scaly head is colored green on top and red on the bottom. It has blue feathers designed for flight on its arms and legs enabling all four of its limbs to act as wings, along with a ring of smaller green feathers on the ankles. Similar to its head and neck, its tail is completely red and featherless except for a fan of blue feathers at the end, and as with the ''{{wp|Archaeopterygiformes}}'', it has fully-movable vertebrae in its tail instead of a {{wp|pygostyle}}. ====Gender differences====

===Special abilities===
It is capable of flying, but is more adept at running. It can outrun even an automobile. It has the intelligence to work with its partners in order to catch prey. Archeops is extinct, but can be revived via fossils. Archeops is omnivorous, along with hunting for prey, it has been seen eating fruit [[BW036|in the anime]].
Unlike its flightless pre-evolution, Archeops is capable of flying, but is more adept at running. It can outrun even an automobile. It has the intelligence to work with its partners in order to catch prey.

===Behavior===
Archeops work with their partners in order to catch prey. They catch prey while running around at speeds faster than even an automobile. They take flight after making a running start on land.

===Habitat===
Archeops are believed to be extinct in the wild, so they have no habitat in current times.

===Diet===
{{main|Pokémon food}}
Archeops are carnivorous.

Archeops appears to draw inspiration from the {{wp|Microraptor}}, a small carnivorous dinosaur known for having wings both on its arms and legs, as well as the {{wp|Archaeopteryx}}, believed by scientists to be the earliest of all birds, also alluded by its species as a "First Bird" Pokémon. It also bears allusions to the {{wp|Feathered Serpent (deity)|Feathered Serpents}} of ancient {{wp|Mesoamerica}}n mythologies.
Archeops appears to draw inspiration from the ''{{wp|Archaeopteryx}}'', believed by scientists to be the earliest of all birds; this is also referenced by its species as the "First Bird" Pokémon. Archeops and Archeos are derived from ''{{wp|Archaeopteryx}}'' and may be a combination of ''Archaeopteryx'' and ''{{wp|Khufu|Cheops}}'' (an ancient Egyptian pharaoh).
Archeops and Archeos may be derived from ''Archaeopteryx'' and the suffix ''-ops'', which is common in dinosaur names.

Archeops (Japanese: アーケオス Archeos) is a dual-type Rock/Flying Fossil Pokémon introduced in Generation V.

It evolves from Archen starting at level 37, after it is revived from a Plume Fossil.

Biology

Archeops is a large, flying creature that bears similarities to a dinosaur. Its featherless, scaly head is red with a green stripe running along the top. Its mouth is filled with sharp teeth. Its eyes are white with black pupils and no irises. Its body is covered with frayed-looking, yellow and blue feathers designed for flight on its arms and legs enabling all four of its limbs to act as wings. All of these "wings" bear sharp claws. It has a ring of smaller green feathers on the ankles. Its tail is completely red and featherless except for a fan of blue feathers at the end, and as with the Archaeopterygiformes, it has fully-movable vertebrae in its tail instead of a pygostyle. Its plumage is very delicate.

It is capable of flying, but is more adept at running. It can outrun even an automobile. It has the intelligence to work with its partners in order to catch prey. Archeops is extinct, but can be revived via fossils. Archeops is omnivorous, along with hunting for prey, it has been seen eating fruit in the anime.

Sun Although apparently able to fly, they tended to run along the ground, averaging speeds of roughly 25 mph.
Moon They hunted in flocks. When one Archeops had the prey cornered, another would swoop on it.
Ultra Sun This ancient Pokémon's plumage is delicate, so if anyone other than an experienced professional tries to restore it, they will fail.
Ultra Moon Said to be an ancestor of bird Pokémon, the muscles it uses to flap its wings are still weak, so it needs a long runway in order to take off.

This Pokémon has no Pokédex entries in Generation VIII.

Trivia

  • Archeops is the only Pokémon with a base stat total of 567.
    • It is also the only Pokémon whose base stat total matches its National Pokédex number.
    • This number is also part of the Dewey Decimal number 567.9, the number for feathered dinosaurs.
  • No other Pokémon has the same Egg Group combination as Archeops and its pre-evolution.
  • Archeops and its pre-evolution are the only Fossil Pokémon without Hidden Abilities.

Origin

Archeops appears to draw inspiration from the Archaeopteryx, believed by scientists to be the earliest of all birds; this is also referenced by its species as the "First Bird" Pokémon. It may also be based on the Feathered Serpents of ancient Mesoamerican mythologies, as well as European dragons in general.

Name origin

Archeops and Archeos may be derived from Archaeopteryx and the suffix -ops, which is common in dinosaur names.
