(Japanese: アーケオス Archeos) is a dual-type Rock/Flying fossil Pokémon introduced in Generation V.

It evolves from Aaken starting at level 37, after it is revived from a Wing Fossil.

Biology

Physiology

Archeos is a large, flying creature that bears similarities to both birds and reptiles. Its featherless, scaly head is colored green on top and red on the bottom. Its body is covered with frayed-looking, yellowish feathers. It has blue feathers designed for flight on its arms and legs enabling all four of its limbs to act as wings. All of these wings bear sharp claws. The ankles have a ring of smaller green feathers. Similarly to its head and neck, its tail is featherless, but is completely red and bears a pygostyle-like fan of blue feathers at the end. Its mouth is filled with sharp teeth. Its eyes are white with black pupils and no irises.

Gender differences

None.

Special abilities

Archeos is adept at both running and flying to catch its prey, though it is more adept at running. It is a cursorial predator that can outrun an automobile.

Behavior

Archeos are highly intelligent. An Archeos will work with its partners to catch prey.

Habitat

Diet

Archeos are carnivorous.

Trivia

  • Archeos is the only Pokémon that has a base stat total of 567.
  • This makes Archeos the only evolved fossil Pokémon whose base stat total is not 495.
  • Archeos's base stat total matches its National Dex number. It is the only Pokémon to do this
  • Despite Archeos and its pre-evolution being in the Water 3 egg group, they are unable to learn any Template:Type2 moves and are not based on aquatic organisms.

Origin

Archeos appears to draw inspiration from the Microraptor, a small carnivorous dinosaur known for having wings both on its arms and legs, as well as the Archaeopteryx, believed by scientists to be the earliest of all birds. It also bears allusions to the Feathered Serpents of ancient Mesoamerican mythologies.

Name origin

Its name is derived from Archaeopteryx.
