Motostoke Outskirts

Now you are in the Motostoke Outskirts, and it's nighttime now. Walk through this and battle a small handful of Trainers to return back to Motostoke.

Motostoke

Upon returning to Motostoke, return to the Budew Drop Inn to take a rest for the night. Upon arrival you will meet up with Marnie again, who this time will challenge you to a battle. Defeat her, and you will receive two Burn Heals as well as Marnie's League Card.

After defeating Marnie, you will rest for the night. Now that it's morning, it's time to head into the Motostoke Stadium for the next Gym Battle!

Motostoke Stadium

You will briefly meet up with Hop before signing onto the Gym Challenge for this. Now be ready for a surprise, as Motostoke's Gym Challenge is unlike any Gym puzzle you've faced earlier in this game or in any game beforehand. This time, you will be catching Wild Pokémon! How this works is that there will be three patches of grass: one with a Sizzlipede, one with a Litwick, and one with a Vulpix. You will achieve points based on a point system: one for knocking the Pokémon out, two for catching the Pokémon. Your goal here is to ultimately achieve five points.

With each of these patches, you will be assigned a partner Trainer who will do everything in their power to disrupt you by either taking the Pokémon down before you do (which earns you zero points), or by burning your Pokémon or lowering your accuracy. Get around these with strategy and capture the Pokémon, and you'll succeed. If you so wish, you can add one of these Pokémon to your team for the rest of the game: they will all prove worthwhile team members to carry with you.

After you have succeeded, you will head straight into Motostoke Stadium and meet up with Kabu. He specializes in Fire-type Pokémon, and he's quite tough, with three fully evolved Pokémon for this point, and he will also burn your Pokémon with Will-o-Wisp. His Centiskorch is his signature Pokémon, which he will Gigantamax at the first opportunity. After defeating him, you will earn the Fire Badge as well as the TM for Will-o-Wisp.

Pokémon

Now that you've successfully obtained the first three Badges, you and Hop will be ready to head into the Wild Area once again, before being given a proper farewell from Milo, Nessa, and Kabu. Upon returning to the Wild Area, Hop will be confronted by Bede who will then have a battle with him. Feel free to start exploring the Wild Area, and now that you're stronger, you can now explore the northern half of the Wild Area.
