Game Corner
Game Corner
In the southern part of the city in the house with the glowing lights is the Game Corner. Here you can collect coins and then head to the house next to it which is where the Prize Exchange is. To find the Coin Case to store these coins head in the direction of the Gym right to where there are two nearby houses and head to the one that is further to the right. Then compete in the campaign clowns game of coin toss and once you get the right answer you will get the Coin Case. Also in the Prize Exchange building there is a man where if you talk to him and you have a Pokémon that knows Hidden Power at the front of your party, he'll let you know what type Hidden Power's damage will represent, unlike the previous Pokémon games where it was impossible to know this without testing.
The building in the southern part of the city decorated with glowing lights is the Game Corner. Here, you can collect Coins and then visit the Prize Exchange next door to get valuable items and TMs. Before you're allowed to play any games however, you'll need a Coin Case, in which your winnings are kept. Head to the next house to the west of the Game Corner. Speak to the clown inside, who'll hand over a Coin Case if you get the correct answer in his game of coin toss (you can play again whenever you get the wrong answer). In the Prize Exchange building to the east of the Game corner is a man who, if you talk to him while having a Pokémon with Hidden Power at the front of your party, will let you know what type Hidden Power's damage will be.

Massage Lady
In the house next to the house where you find the Coin Case is the Massage Lady who will once per day massage your Pokémon and also find an Accessory for dressing up your Pokémon for Contests. The massage can also help raise the Pokémon's happiness factor.

After exploring Veilstone City, it's time for you to challenge the Gym for your fourth Badge. Before you enter the Gym, you'll encounter Professor Rowan's research assistant Lucas/Dawn, and both of you will then meet Wake, Pastoria Gym's leader, as he leaves the Gym. The Veilstone Gym Leader, Maylene, specializes in Fighting-type Pokémon, which are weak to Psychic- and Flying-type attacks, but Maylene's Lucario is also weak to Fighting-, Fire-, and Ground-type attacks. However, many Fighting-type Pokémon can learn Rock-type moves, which cover their weakness against Flying-type Pokémon, so a team with Psychic Pokémon and Ghost Pokémon is ideal here.

Veilstone Gym
Knock the first punching bag to the right, and head up through the (now vacant) gap between the bottom right boxing ring and the support pillar. Knock the next bag north, make a quick detour into the ring to battle the First Karate Quad, then knock the bag north once more - it should end up just above and to the right of another bag. Knock this bag north, then follow it and head up and around the stack of tires at the northeast corner of the northeast boxing ring. Knock the next bag (that is just north of the northeast ring) twice to the left, then head south between the northeast ring and the benches, stopping to battle the second and third members of the Karate Quad, then head into the western portion of the Gym.

After exploring Veilstone City, it's time for you to challenge the Gym for your fourth Badge. Before you enter the gym you'll encounter Professor Rowan's research assistant Lucas/Dawn. The Veilstone Gym Leader specializes in the Fighting. The Gym is a maze consisted of many punching bags that must be pushed by you to smash barriers made up of tires and open up new paths. Your key goal in this mission is to aim for the punching bag in the upper left area of the gym to be able to destroy the barrier that will get you to Marlene but first you have to destroy three barriers positioned in a row to reach it.

First follow the path on the right moving punching bags and carefully head to the farthest area of the eastern area that you can reach to move the punching bag to first remove the barrier that separates the next area and then again to destroy the top most barrier from the set of three you need to remove to reach Maylene. Then head into the new area which is the west side of the gym and head to the northwest corner of the gym and move the punching bag to remove the lower barrier. Then head to the lower part of this area and move the punching bag near some cracks to remove another barrier around the southwest area of the gym by positioning it to strike from above in the following directions (↑←↓) and lastly carefully use the punching bag there to destroy the middle barrier. Now you can use the path where those three barriers were to reach the punching bag to remove the barrier covering the area where Marlene is and be able to reach her.
Head northwest, fight the fourth and final member of the Karate Quad, then knock the bag next to him south once, and then once east. Next, find the bag directly south of the path between the benches and north of the southwest boxing ring. Knock this bag anticlockwise (up, left, down, then right) all the way back to its original position. This should clear the way to the southwestern-most punching bag, which can now be knocked north once and east. Head up between the benches, and knock the bag above them twice to the east, finally opening up the stairs to allow you to challenge Maylene!

Maylene is not too terribly tough, but her Lucario may be a bit of a problem. She'll lead with her Meditite which can use Fake Out to force you to flinch and do some damage. It can use Rock Tomb to counter Flying and is resistant to Confusion due to being a Psychic. A quick flying type like Staravia using Wing Attack or Aerial Ace will take it out easily. Her Machoke is more offensive but should not be too difficult to beat though it can also counter Flying types with Rock Tomb. Last up is Lucario, Maylene's star Pokémon. It has a variety of attacks, but nothing too rough. It can counter Fires with Bone Rush so it's recommended either Fighting or Ground Pokémon take Lucario out as its Steel characteristics make them resistant to Psychic or Flying-type moves and will only take normal damage from them. Be careful of the signature move of her gym which her Pokémon have, Drain Punch, which can use a portion of the damage inflicted on your Pokémon to heal themselves, so make sure to take them out quick. Also, Maylene will use Hyper Potions when her Pokémon get weak, so be wary when getting them in the red zone HP-wise.
Maylene leads with her Meditite, which can use Fake Out on its first turn in battle to force your Pokémon to flinch and deal some damage. A quick Flying like Staravia using Wing Attack or Aerial Ace will take it out before it can use Rock Tomb to counter your Flying-type, but a Ghost is ideal as it will take little damage from Meditite's moves. Her Machoke is more offensive but should not be too difficult to beat though it can also counter Flying types with Rock Tomb, a Psychic or Ghost Pokémon will do will here too. Last up is Lucario, Maylene's star Pokémon. It has a variety of attacks, but nothing too rough. Its Steel makes it only take regular damage from Flying and Psychic but adds weaknesses to Fire, Fighting, and Ground. Two of them are conveniently exploited by attacks sold at the Department Store, but Lucario can counter Fire-types with Bone Rush. Be careful of her Gym's signature move Drain Punch, which heals her Pokémon by 50% of the damage dealt with it, so try not to get into a war of attrition. Maylene will use Hyper Potions when her Pokémon get weak, so try to finish them off without dropping their HP to below 20% (when the HP bar turns red).

After you defeat her, she'll hand over the Cobble Badge, explaining that it'll allow you use 02 outside of battle, and that traded Pokémon up to level 50 will obey you without question, along with 60.

As you leave the Gym, Professor Rowan's assistant Lucas/Dawn comes up to you and tells you that their Pokédex has been stolen. === Team Galactic Tag Battle ===
After you defeat Maylene and earn the Cobble, Professor Rowan's assistant Lucas/Dawn comes up to you and tells you that their Pokédex has been stolen. Upon hearing this, you and the assistant run to the Galactic Warehouse to find none other than two Team Galactic Grunts. The two challenge you and the assistant to a tag battle.

Upon defeat, the grunts give back the Pokédex and flee. Looker then shows up having heard of the robbery and is glad you were able to handle the situation. After your partner leaves, Looker then guides you into the warehouse. Inside he finds that the door is locked and states there is nothing they can do now. He does find 02 and you can pick it up. Before leaving, Looker mentions a rumor of Team Galactic moving something important to Pastoria City. Now that you've completed that task, it's time to head to 214.

After your partner leaves, Looker guides you into the warehouse. Inside he finds that the door is locked and states there is nothing he can do now. He does find 02 however, which you should pick up. Before leaving, Looker mentions a rumor of Team Galactic moving something important to Pastoria City. There's nothing else of importance to do in Veilstone (for now), so it's time to head south to Pastoria, after healing up at the Pokémon Center if necessary. To get to Pastoria, you have two options. You can enter the east gate through 214 or the west gate through 212.

Route 214
Aside from the Trainers, this is a pretty straightforward route. The Maniac Tunnel is also located here. One important thing to do here is that when you are around the southern tall grass where Collector Jamal is to find the Evolution-inducing held item which is a hidden item and is located in the lower right corner where there is no tall grass. This is the only change of being able to obtain a Razor Fang for evolving Gligar into Gliscor since you won't be able to get another one until after defeating the Elite Four. Just remember this evolution only works at night.

Maniac Tunnel
Apart from the Trainers, 214 is a pretty straightforward route. First head south down the eastern side of the route. At the bottom of the maze of fences, head west a short distance, then back north up the mountainous western side of Route 214 where there are more trainers to battle, and, at the top, the Maniac Tunnel. On the way, collect the Razor Fang (necessary for evolving Gligar into Gliscor when leveled up at night) hidden in the lower-right corner of the southern patch long grass near Collector Jamal, and the Magmarizer (necessary for evolving Magmar into Magmortar when traded) just north of Ruin Maniac Byran.
By collecting the Unown at the Solaceon Ruins you can expand the tunnel and also affect the Pokémon Catch rate here in the Maniac Tunnel. Also by collecting all of the 26 regular Unown the tunnel will be complete and you'll by able to collect the ! and ? Unown in the second floor of the Solaceon Ruins. See this section for the info on the Solaceon Ruins.

Valor Lakefront
By collecting different forms of Unown at the Solaceon Ruins, you can expand the Maniac Tunnel and also affect the rarity of wild Pokémon here in the Maniac Tunnel. By collecting all of the 26 regular Unown the tunnel will be complete and you'll be able to collect the ! and ? Unown in the second floor of the Solaceon Ruins. Collect 28 just north of the Ruin Maniac.

Still on the way to Pastoria City, you arrive at Valor Lakefront. You can't access Lake Valor just yet... so why not go to the Seven Stars Restaurant? There, you will partake in Double Battles. If you find your Pokémon are getting weak, go over to the hotel and heal your Pokémon. You will also find a lady who lost her suite key and asks you for your help. Go near the entrance to the hotel and use your Pokétch's Dowsing Machine to find it and return it continue on your way. Some of the items will require the use of the HM move Rock Climb which you can use after defeating the seventh Gym leader in Snowpoint City.

Route 213
Unless another player can trade you a Manaphy, you need to visit 212 in order to obtain the National Pokédex. After leaving Hearthome City, head south to the entrance of the Pokémon Mansion. Once you're done visiting the mansion, cut your way through to find a path leading to 11. Follow the shoreline of the pond next to the grass to reach the other half of this route.

This is the final stretch to Pastoria City. Only a few Trainers and Pokémon stand in your way! Much like Valor Lakefront you will have to come back later with Rock Climb to recover a few items.

The Pokémon Mansion is owned by Mr. Backlot. It is also the home of the famous Trophy Garden, which is located at its rear. It has four rooms, the most important of them being Mr. Backlot's office, which is where a Pokémon statue guarded by a policeman is located. The guard is on break from 2 A.M. until 6 A.M., leaving you free to touch the statue and get your fingerprints all over it. Manaphy's data can be recorded (as a seen Pokémon) from the book lying on Mr. Backlot's desk, and it must be done in order to get the National Pokédex. Other rooms in the mansion have beds, which you can used to rest yourself along with your Pokémon. In the west wing, you may fight the maids in the 5-Maid Knockout Exact-Turn Attack Challenge, in which five maids must be beaten in a certain number of total turns (no more, no less). The prize for beating the challenge is a duel with either Lady Celeste or Rich Boy Liam, depending on how many turns you were told to beat the maids in.

{| class="expandable" align="center" style="background: #platinum color; -moz-border-radius: 1em; border: 5px solid #platinum color light;"
The western and eastern exits of the mansion are blocked by the maids. Neither of these doorways are functional however, and for your purposes serve only as decoration.

There are many Pokémon that can be found here without any interaction with the Trophy Garden's owner, Mr. Backlot. All of these Pokémon are in the Sinnoh Pokédex, and many can be found in other areas. After you have gotten the National Pokédex upgrade, however, Pokémon that do not otherwise appear in Sinnoh will be placed in the Trophy Garden by Backlot's butler to cover up for his fibs, with a different one there daily. The last two Pokémon placed in the garden at any given time will remain available until more Pokémon are placed in the garden.

After completing the three areas south of Veilstone, you've finally reached your next destination and the location of your fifth badge... Pastoria City.
Trek through the three large sections of mud, using your Dowsing Machine to find a number of items hidden in the mud along the way. Make a detour to the north underneath the first narrow wooden bridge to collect the item at the end of this dead end path,
then cut your way through the small trees you just passed and use your bicycle to cross the bridge. Battle your way past the two trainers and find a Zinc where the path ends in a ledge. Make another detour into the muddy area north of the signpost to find a Dawn Stone hidden in the mud, then continue west.

Veilstone City (first visit)

Veilstone City

Having arrived in Veilstone City, it's time to explore the place. Veilstone is the home of the Veilstone Department Store, Galactic Veilstone Building, the Veilstone Game Corner, and, of course, the Veilstone Gym.

In the house directly north of the Pokémon Center lives a man willing to hand over a Porygon. Make sure you have a free slot in your party so you're able to receive it.

Game Corner

In the house next to the house where you find the Coin Case is the Massage Lady. She'll massage one of your Pokémon once per day and also find an Accessory, which also raises the Pokémon's happiness.

Veilstone Department Store

Veilstone has a Department store instead of a conventional Poké Mart. Take the opportunity to stock up on supplies!

Inside, there is a lady to the left of the entrance who will give you a mask to be put in the Fashion Case. The mask will match Lucas/Dawn's starter Pokémon. The people at the counter on 1F sell items found in normal Poké Marts.

On 3F, you can buy TMs. TM54 (False Swipe) can be useful if you plan to complete your Pokédex, as this attack will never knock out an opponent. They also sell powerful special attacks, such as TM38 (Fire Blast) and TM52 (Focus Blast), that can be huge upgrades to your current team.

Secret Base decorations are sold on 4F.

On 5F, a man will give you a Sticky Barb. Inexpensive healing items can be bought from the Vending Machines on this floor, too.

Veilstone Gym

Veilstone Gym

The Gym is a maze consisting of many punching bags that you must push to smash barriers made up of tires in order to open up new paths. Your key goal is to aim for the punching bag in the upper left of the Gym that destroys the barrier that will get you to Maylene.

Veilstone Gym
The CobbleBadge

Maylene leads with her Meditite, which can use Fake Out on its first turn in battle to force your Pokémon to flinch and deal some damage. A quick Flying-type like Staravia using Wing Attack or Aerial Ace will take it out before it can use Rock Tomb to counter your Flying-type-type, but a Ghost-type is ideal as it will take little damage from Meditite's moves. Its Steel-type makes it only take regular damage from Flying and Psychic but adds weaknesses to Fire, Fighting, and Ground. Two of them are conveniently exploited by attacks sold at the Department Store, but Lucario can counter Fire-type-types with Bone Rush.

After you defeat her, she'll hand over the Cobble Badge, explaining that it'll allow you use HM02 (Fly) outside of battle, and that traded Pokémon up to level 50 will obey you without question, along with TM60 (Drain Punch).

Veilstone City

As you leave the Gym, Professor Rowan's assistant Lucas/Dawn comes up to you and tells you that their Pokédex has been stolen. Heal up at the Pokémon Center, then head over to the Galactic Warehouse to find two male Team Galactic Grunts. Challenge the two to a Multi Battle with Lucas/Dawn.

Upon defeat, the grunts give back the Pokédex and flee. Looker then shows up, having heard of the robbery, and is glad you were able to handle the situation. After your partner leaves, Looker guides you into the warehouse. Inside he finds that the door is locked and states there is nothing he can do now. He does find HM02 (Fly) however, which you should pick up. You can enter the east gate through Route 214 or the west gate through Route 212.

Route 214 (optional)

Route 214

Apart from the Trainers, Route 214 is a pretty straightforward route.

Maniac Tunnel (optional)

Maniac Tunnel with 0-9 Unown
Maniac Tunnel with 10-25 Unown
Maniac Tunnel with 26-28 Unown

By collecting different forms of Unown at the Solaceon Ruins, you can expand the Maniac Tunnel and also affect the rarity of wild Pokémon here in the Maniac Tunnel. By collecting all of the 26 regular Unown the tunnel will be complete and you'll be able to collect the ! and ? Unown in the second floor of the Solaceon Ruins. Collect TM28 (Dig) just north of the Ruin Maniac.

Route 212 (north)

Route 212

Unless another player can trade you a Manaphy, you need to visit Route 212 in order to obtain the National Pokédex. After leaving Hearthome City, head south to the entrance of the Pokémon Mansion. Once you're done visiting the mansion, cut your way through to find a path leading to TM11 (Sunny Day). Follow the shoreline of the pond next to the grass to reach the other half of this route.

Pokémon Mansion

The Pokémon Mansion

The interior of the mansion

The western and eastern exits of the mansion are blocked by the maids. Neither of these doorways are functional however, and for your purposes serve only as decoration.

Trophy Garden (optional)

There are many Pokémon that can be found here without any interaction with the Trophy Garden's owner, Mr. Backlot. All of these Pokémon are in the Sinnoh Pokédex, and many can be found in other areas. After you have gotten the National Pokédex upgrade, however, Pokémon that do not otherwise appear in Sinnoh will be placed in the Trophy Garden by Backlot's butler to cover up for his fibs, with a different one there daily. The last two Pokémon placed in the garden at any given time will remain available until more Pokémon are placed in the garden.

Route 212 (south)

Go down the stairs and around the path past the Scientist and the two Rangers. Head up another set of stairs to grab TM62 (Silver Wind) across the narrow bridge. Go north on the wide bridge, Cut your way through some bushes, and collect all the items hidden on the four hills connected by the three narrow log bridges. East of the wide bridge is the house of one of the three Move Tutors who offers to tutor moves in exchange for shards.

Trek through the three large sections of mud, using your Dowsing Machine to find a number of items hidden in the mud along the way. Make a detour to the north underneath the first narrow wooden bridge to collect the item at the end of this dead end path, then cut your way through the small trees you just passed and use your bicycle to cross the bridge. Battle your way past the two trainers and find a Zinc where the path ends in a ledge. Make another detour into the muddy area north of the signpost to find a Dawn Stone hidden in the mud, then continue west.
