-----
35 is a small path leading north from Goldenrod. The north gate leads to the newly-opened Pokéathlon Dome to the west, and the National Park to the north. To the east is a narrow trail that bypasses the park and connects directly to 36.

Webster in the gate has a favor to ask: take his Spearow and the piece of mail it's holding to the man by the pond on 31, and the man will reward you with 44.  Return here and speak to the guard again, and he will give you an Vitamin.

35 is a small path leading from Goldenrod City to the National Park, home of the Bug-Catching Contest. Wander south through the tall grass to find a Status ailment healing item in the first grove of trees, and 66 beyond the grove of trees in the southeast.  Head north into the gate.

National Park
Exit north from the gate to reach the National Park.  The park is a haven for Bug- and Grasss. The park is open every day, but Trainers visiting on Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday may participate in the Bug-Catching Contest.
A Favor
The guard in the southern gate, Webster, has a favor to ask. Deliver his Spearow's piece of Grass Mail to the man by the pond on 31, and the recipient will reward you with 44. Return here to receive an Vitamin from Webster as thanks. If you transfer the Mail to another Pokemon before delivering, you may keep the Spearow.

Pokéathlon Dome
Entering from the south, walk east and speak to the woman on a bench with her Persian. She will give you a In-battle effect item, a held item that allows slower Pokémon to sometimes attack first. Near the eastern entrance is a break in the fence; follow the outside of the fence to the right for a Out-of-battle effect item, an item that can help promote happiness in your Pokémon. Go left around the main area of the park to find 28.  Backtrack to the hole in the fence and leave through the east exit to 36.
The northern gate leads to a short path where you meet Magnus, an old man with a Poliwrath. He is the founder of the new Pokéathlon Dome, a sports venue where Trainers can participate in the Pokéathlon, an Olympic games-style competition where their three-Pokémon team competes against others. Each of the five courses—Speed, Power, Skill, Stamina, and Jump—test a Pokémon's stats with games like Pokéathlon, Pokéathlon, and Pokéathlon. There are ten games in all, and any Pokémon is allowed to enter, though Pokémon with different formes will have different stat values. When you try to register for the first time, Whitney appears and gives you a jersey to wear for the competition.

Aprijuice Stand
The Pokéathlon Dome is located to the west of the building. This shop sells a variety of pre-made Aprijuice, a performance-enhancing drink made from Apricorns, that change on a daily basis. Each of the three vending machines dispense five different drinks, each reflecting one performance stat. Noticing your IV, the woman gives you an Apriblender. This allows you to mix your own drinks, by blending up to five Apricorns at a time. The drink is ready after walking 100 steps, and has three servings per drink.

Athlete Shop
The Pokéathlon Dome, located at the building's far-right counter, allows competitors to exchange points for a variety of items. The available items change daily, and each item may only be purchased once per day.

Bug-Catching Contest
Bug-Catching Contest
The Bug-Catching Contest is free to enter, and the objective is to catch the single best Bug Pokémon possible. Trainers are given 20 Sports and allowed to use a single Pokémon from their party. The others are held temporarily until the competition is over. Any Pokémon caught during the contest will be recorded by the Pokédex, though only one can be kept for judging. The competition ends when all 20 Sport Balls are used, the Trainer blacks out, leaves the park, or 20 minutes have passed. The Pokémon that was judged may be kept after the competition. A Pokémon's Bug-Catching Contest is determined by its level, IVs, remaining HP, and how likely it was to appear.

The contest is free to enter, and the objective is to catch the one best Bug Pokémon you can find.  To do this, Trainers are given 20 Sport Balls, which are similar to Safari Balls, and allowed to use their lead Pokémon to help out.  The rest of a Trainer's Pokémon, and any items they may have, remain with the contest officials until the competition is over.  Any Pokémon caught during the contest will be recorded by the Pokédex, though only one can be judged in the contest.  The competition ends when all the Sport Balls are used, the Trainer blacks out, the Trainer leaves the park, or 20 minutes have passed.  After that, the judging will occur, where Trainers are scored on their skills of capturing rare and exclusive Pokémon.  The two primary factors that determine the score in the contest are the sum of the Pokémon's stats, which can be estimated by its rarity  and its level, and the amount of damage it sustained in the capture attempt.  The higher the Pokémon's remaining hit points at time of capture, the higher the score.  The Bug-type that was judged may be kept after the competition.

Once your Pokédex has been upgraded to National Mode, you will encounter Bug Pokémon during the contest that are foreign to Hoenn and Sinnoh on Thursdays and Saturdays, while the ones primarily foreign to Johto and Kanto (excluding Scyther and Pinsir) are now limited to the Tuesday contests. Be warned as the Pokémon found during these contests are at much higher levels than the ones found before acquiring the National Pokédex. In addition the prize for first place will be one of ten evolutionary stones, chosen at random.

Pokéathlon Dome
Route 36
The gate's northwestern exit leads to a short path where you'll meet Magnus, an older man with a Poliwrath.  He'll bring you to a new area called the Pokéathlon Dome, which is where you can partake in the Pokéathlon, a sports event that replaces Contests.  There are five courses: Stamina, Power, Skill, Speed, and Jump, which correspond a Pokémon's five performance stats. In each course, three of your Pokémon will participate in three mini-games; each event will test two of your Pokémon's stats. There are a total of ten games in all that are divided throughout the courses. Like the Contests from previous games, all Pokémon are permitted to enter the games. A Pokémon's different formes will have different max stats, so make sure you pick the right forme for the right course.
36 is a unique stretch of land, as the only route in Johto or Kanto to link five different locations together.

When you go to register for a course the first time around, Whitney will appear, and will give Ethan/Lyra a jersey that they can dress into for competing in the courses. Unlike the contests, to update your Trainer card, instead of coming in first for all the courses, a certain record must be beaten for each game and by doing so a crown symbol by the records. There is also a linked Pokéathlon for multiple players.
{| class="expandable" align="center" style="background: #; roundy; border: 5px solid #;"

Outside of the building, many Trainers can be seen with their Pokémon, practicing for the Pokéathlon's various competitions.  A woman on the far west side of the area will give away an List of key items in Generation IV to those who have an List of key items in Generation IV, while a man at a booth west of the building will sell Aprijuice, a type of drink that boosts one of the five performance stats.

The Aprijuice Stand
The Aprijuice Stand sells a variety of different pre-made Aprijuice which change on a daily basis.  By default there are five different drinks that are sold from the three machines lined up at the Aprijuice Shop, each reflecting one Pokéathlon performance stat.

Athlete Shop
The Pokéathlon Dome, located at the far right counter, allows for the points earned from competing in the different venues to be traded in for various items, with each item only available for purchase once per day.  The item listing changes on a day-to-day basis. It is notable that several of these items are involved with evolution, such as the Evolutionary stones. Once the National Dex is obtained, the amount of prizes are increased, with either new items, or older items that can now be bought on other days.

Route 36
Leaving from the National Park's east exit, check the Apricorn tree nearby to find a Blu Apricorn.  Battle past the two Trainers and you will come to a 3-way intersection, with the odd tree blocking the narrow trail.  Try watering it with the List of key items in Generation IV, and it attacks!  It turns out to be a Sudowoodo, a Pokémon that has more in common with a rock than a tree, which explains why it avoids water.  After battling it, the woman nearby will give you the List of key items in Generation IV, which lets you grow Berries as you travel, as well as three Oran Berries and three Pecha Berries.  Now head north to reach 37.

The Odd Tree
East of the park, that odd tree is still blocking the narrow trail from every direction. Floria, from Goldenrod's Flower Shop, suggests watering it with the IV, which causes it to attack! It turns out to be a Sudowoodo, a Pokémon more akin to a rock than a Grass.

Route 37
37 is the smallest route in all of Johto, but that doesn't mean that there's nothing of interest here!
Once the path is clear, Floria gives you the IV, a set of four handy containers that allow Berry growth while traveling. She also gives out three Oran Berries and three Pecha Berries before returning to the Flower Shop.
Besides a few Trainers, this route is also home to a trio of Apricorn trees.  The secluded grove produces Red, Blu, and Blk Apricorns, which Kurt can use to create a Level Ball, Lure Ball, and Heavy Ball, respectively. <br><br>

Continue north to Ecruteak City.
Route 37
37 is home to a secluded grove of Apricorn trees, which produces Apricorn, Apricorn, and Apricorn varieties. Revision as of 02:45, 27 August 2017

This is the Bulbapedia walkthrough for Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver.
These pages follow the remade Nintendo DS iteration, not Gold and Silver. The guide for those games can be found here.

Route 35

Route 35

Route 35 is a small path leading north from Goldenrod. The north gate leads to the newly-opened Pokéathlon Dome to the west, and the National Park to the north. To the east is a narrow trail that bypasses the park and connects directly to Route 36.

A Favor

The guard in the southern gate, Webster, has a favor to ask. Deliver his Spearow's piece of Grass Mail to the man by the pond on Route 31, and the recipient will reward you with TM44 (Rest). Return here to receive an HP Up from Webster as thanks. If you transfer the Mail to another Pokemon before delivering, you may keep the Spearow.

Pokéathlon Dome

The Pokéathlon Dome

The northern gate leads to a short path where you meet Magnus, an old man with a Poliwrath. He is the founder of the new Pokéathlon Dome, a sports venue where Trainers can participate in the Pokéathlon, an Olympic-style competition where their three-Pokémon team competes against others. Each of the five courses—Speed, Power, Skill, Stamina, and Jump—test a Pokémon's stats with games like Hurdle Dash, Ring Drop, and Snow Throw. There are ten games in all, and any Pokémon is allowed to enter, though Pokémon with different formes will have different stat values. When you try to register for the first time, Whitney appears and gives you a jersey to wear for the competition.

Aprijuice Stand

The Aprijuice Stand is located to the west of the building. This shop sells a variety of pre-made Aprijuice, a performance-enhancing drink made from Apricorns, that change on a daily basis. Each of the three vending machines dispense five different drinks, each reflecting one performance stat. Noticing your Apricorn Box, the woman gives you an Apriblender. This allows you to mix your own drinks, by blending up to five Apricorns at a time. The drink is ready after walking 100 steps, and has three servings per drink.

Athlete Shop

The Athlete Shop, located at the building's far-right counter, allows competitors to exchange points for a variety of items. The available items change daily, and each item may only be purchased once per day.

National Park

National Park

The National Park is a haven for Bug- and Grass-type Pokémon. The Bug-Catching Contest is held here every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

Bug-Catching Contest

The Bug-Catching Contest is free to enter, and the objective is to catch the single best Bug Pokémon possible. Trainers are given 20 Sport Balls and allowed to use a single Pokémon from their party. A Pokémon's value is determined by its level, IVs, remaining HP, and how likely it was to appear.

Place Prize
1st Sun Stone Sun Stone
2nd Everstone Everstone
3rd Sitrus Berry Sitrus Berry
Runner-Up Shed Shell Shed Shell

Once your Pokédex has been upgraded to National Mode, you will encounter Bug Pokémon during the contest that are foreign to Hoenn and Sinnoh on Thursdays and Saturdays, while the ones primarily foreign to Johto and Kanto (excluding Scyther and Pinsir) are now limited to the Tuesday contests. Be warned as the Pokémon found during these contests are at much higher levels than the ones found before acquiring the National Pokédex. In addition the prize for first place will be one of ten evolutionary stones, chosen at random.

Route 36

Route 36

Route 36 is a unique stretch of land, as the only route in Johto or Kanto to link five different locations together.

The Odd Tree

East of the park, that odd tree is still blocking the narrow trail from every direction. Floria, from Goldenrod's Flower Shop, suggests watering it with the SquirtBottle, which causes it to attack! It turns out to be a Sudowoodo, a Pokémon more akin to a rock than a tree.

Once the path is clear, Floria gives you the Berry Pots, a set of four handy containers that allow Berry growth while traveling. She also gives out three Oran Berries and three Pecha Berries before returning to the Flower Shop.

Route 37

Route 37

Route 37 is home to a secluded grove of Apricorn trees, which produces Red, Blu, and Blk varieties. On Sundays, Sunny of the Week Siblings can be found south of the grove. Speaking to her will result in a Magnet on the first meeting, and a Smile Ribbon on subsequent meetings.
