Jump over the ledge to the south of Picnicker Heidi to find a Potion. Fight past Hiker Clark, and continue west. Turn to the east near Camper Dean, climb the stairway, and head north. Cut down the tree near Hiker Eoin to find 91, then head to the west. Cut down another tree to reach a In-battle effect item, which extends the duration of the Light Screen and Reflect moves. Jump the ledge and head to the southwest, where you'll find a Potion. Head north and follow the path in a counter-clockwise loop to reach Cerulean City.
Cerulean City is a peaceful seaside city located in the north-central part of Kanto. As the Bike Shop has moved to Goldenrod City, the remaining landmarks include the Cerulean Gym and a mysterious cave on the edge of town.

Now that you've made it to Cerulean, you need to track down the thug with the stolen generator part. <br>
None of the residents seem suspicious, so let's if Misty can help out. Head over to the Gym.

Reclaim the Machine Part!
Reclaim the Machine Part
Upon entering the Gym, you are nearly run over by a man in a dark uniform. He babbles aimlessly for a minute before running off. Follow him northward to confront him on Nugget Bridge.

As soon as you enter the Gym, the thief slams into you. He isn't being very covert, running around in full Team Rocket uniform. He flees the Gym, but the guy standing nearby tells you that he ran off towards the Cape. You'll find him on Nugget Bridge, and he ducks between a sight-seeing couple to hide from you. Beat him in a battle and he'll give up the location where he stashed the missing piece.

After a quick defeat, he gives up the location of the hidden List of key items in Generation IV. Evidently, he hid it the pile of inflatable tubes in the rear of the Cerulean Gym. Take it back to the Kanto Power Plant's manager.

Defeated, he gives up the location of the IV. He claims that he hid it inside the Cerulean Gym. Search the pile of inflatable tubes near the back of the building to recover the stolen part.

After thanking you for retrieving the machinery, the manager will reward you with 57, a decent Electric move that may raise the user's Special Attack.

Now that power is restored to Kanto, you can backtrack to a few side objectives:
Power Plant
As thanks for recovering the machinery, the manager rewards you with 57, a damaging move that may raise the user's Special Attack. With the region's power now running smoothly, it is possible to tie up some loose ends.

* Back in Lavender Town, stop by the Radio Tower and talk to the Director by the north wall. Since you were able to restore power, he didn't lose his job. He gives you the Pokégear for your Pokégear as thanks.
The Lost Item
Visit the Copycat's house in Saffron City, northwest of the Silph Co. building. She asks that you find her Battle item that she believes is lost in Vermilion City. Stop by the Fan Club and talk to the man with the "Clefairy" to retrieve the IV. Return it to the girl to receive the IV, the ticket needed to board the Magnet Train.

* Stop back in Saffron, and visit the Copycat's house again, northwest of the Silph Co. building. She asks you to retrieve her Battle item, which she thinks she lost in Vermilion. Stop by Vermilion's Pokémon Fan Club, and talk to the guy next to the "Clefairy" to obtain the List of key items in Generation IV. Return it to the Copycat, and she'll reward you with the List of key items in Generation IV, the ticket needed to board the Magnet Train.
Radio Tower
Stop by the Lavender Town in Lavender Town and speak to the Director at the north wall on the ground floor. As the power was turned back on, he never lost his job. He gives you the Pokégear for your Pokégear as thanks.

A Foreign Legendary Spotted!
A Foreign Legendary
When you collect the List of key items in Generation IV and step outside the Fan Club, you'll be greeted by Steven Stone, Champion of the Hoenn region. He asks if you have ever run across a Pokémon by the name of Latias / Latios. Being a Pokémon native to the Hoenn region, he is trying to determine why it recently decided to visit Kanto. The Eon Pokémon has a deep connection to the Soul Dew, which may explain its recent travel. Inspect the map on your Pokégear to track it down for a battle. If you have received the Enigma Stone from a Nintendo event, you can take it to Steven in the Pewter City Museum. He will have a researcher examine it, revealing that it is really the Soul Dew — the other Eon (Latios / Latias) will then appear outside the Museum, waiting to battle you.
After collecting the IV and exiting the Pokémon Fan Club, you are greeted by Steven Stone, Champion of the far-off Hoenn region. He asks if you have ever run across a Pokémon by the name of Latias / Latios. As it is a Pokémon more at home in Hoenn, he is trying to determine why it recently decided to visit Kanto. After hearing about it from Steven, you can use the Pokégear to track the roaming Pokémon.

With power restored and ticket in hand, you're finally able to ride the train between the two regions!
<br>
However, even with the power back on, Misty is still missing. To find her, travel back to Cerulean and head north to 24 and 25.

Check the northwest ledge on 24 to find a hidden Revive, then head east. Once you battle past the first six Trainers (and Super Nerd Pat), talk to Ace Trainer Kevin to get a Valuable item, and another battle. North of here is a path behind a cuttable tree that leads to a Vitamin. When you reach Bill's cottage, you'll stumble upon Misty on a date nearby. The guy runs off, and Misty starts to yell at you... until she spots your Johto Badges. She invites you to the Gym before heading back to town.
24 consists of little more than Nugget Bridge.

Inside Bill's house, his grandfather is house-sitting for him while he is away in Johto. If you show him a group of specific Pokémon, he will reward you with five of the evolutionary stones.
Cerulean Cape
Upon reaching the cape, you find Misty with a date on the nearby hill. The guy gets scared off, and Misty starts to yell... until she spots your Johto League Badges. She tells you to visit the Gym, then heads back to town.

After spotting it near Cianwood City, [[Mt. Begin with Grass- and Electric moves to wear its health down quickly, then switch to Fire-, Water-, Ice-, and Steel moves to whittle its energy down further. If you fail to catch it, defeat the Pokémon League once more to find it in the basement of the Burned Tower.

Since you ruined her time off from the Gym, Misty has no choice but to return to her post. <br>
With her time off ruined, Misty has no choice but to return to the Cerulean Gym, which specializes in Water Pokémon. Grass- and Electric attacks will inflict heavy damage to these aquatic opponents, but avoid using Fire-, Ground-, and Rock Pokémon.

The Cerulean Gym specializes in Waters, evident from the large indoor swimming pool. Electric- and Grasss will work best here, and Grass-types are especially useful against Misty's Quagsire, bypassing its immunity to electricity. Look out for Quagsire's Earthquake and Golduck's Psychic. Starmie can be a bit annoying, because of its Confuse Ray and Recover moves, as well.
A wicked Thunderbolt can take out Misty's Golduck and Starmie, but be wary of Starmie's Recover. Her Lapras has additional weaknesses, including Fighting- and Rock moves. Her Quagsire is immune to electricity, but suffers massive damage when hit by Grass-type attacks. If Rain Dance takes effect, Water moves receive a 50% power boost while Thunder's accuracy rises to 100%.

Revision as of 17:15, 28 April 2017

This is the Bulbapedia walkthrough for Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver.
These pages follow the remade Nintendo DS iteration, not Pokémon Gold and Silver. The guide for those games can be found here.

Route 9

Route 9

Route 9 connects the north side of Route 10 and Cerulean City to the west.

Cerulean City

Cerulean City

Cerulean City is a peaceful seaside city located in the north-central part of Kanto. As the Bike Shop has moved to Goldenrod City, the remaining landmarks include the Cerulean Gym and a mysterious cave on the edge of town.

Reclaim the Machine Part

Upon entering the Gym, you are nearly run over by a man in a dark uniform. He babbles aimlessly for a minute before running off. Follow him northward to confront him on Nugget Bridge.

Defeated, he gives up the location of the Machine Part. He claims that he hid it inside the Cerulean Gym. Search the pile of inflatable tubes near the back of the building to recover the stolen part.

Power Restored!

Power Plant

As thanks for recovering the machinery, the manager rewards you with TM57 (Charge Beam), a damaging move that may raise the user's Special Attack. With the region's power now running smoothly, it is possible to tie up some loose ends.

The Lost Item

Visit the Copycat's house in Saffron City, northwest of the Silph Co. building. She asks that you find her Poké Doll that she believes is lost in Vermilion City. Stop by the Fan Club and talk to the man with the "Clefairy" to retrieve the Lost Item. Return it to the girl to receive the Pass, the ticket needed to board the Magnet Train.

Radio Tower

Stop by the Kanto Radio Tower in Lavender Town and speak to the Director at the north wall on the ground floor. As the power was turned back on, he never lost his job. He gives you the EXPN Card for your Pokégear as thanks.

A Foreign Legendary

After collecting the Lost Item and exiting the Pokémon Fan Club, you are greeted by Steven Stone, Champion of the far-off Hoenn region. He asks if you have ever run across a Pokémon by the name of LatiasHG / LatiosSS. As it is a Pokémon more at home in Hoenn, he is trying to determine why it recently decided to visit Kanto. After hearing about it from Steven, you can use the Pokégear to track the roaming Pokémon.

Route 24

Route 24

Route 24 consists of little more than Nugget Bridge.

Route 25

Route 25

Conversely, Route 25 has a multitude of Trainers to fight. When the others are defeated, talk to Ace Trainer Kevin to receive a Nugget, before he battles you as well.

Cerulean Cape

Upon reaching the cape, you find Misty with a date on the nearby hill. The guy gets scared off, and Misty starts to yell... until she spots your Johto League Badges. She tells you to visit the Gym, then heads back to town.

Bill's Cottage

Bill's grandfather is housesitting while he is away, and really wants to see several species of Pokémon. Show him the correct Pokémon to be rewarded with one of the hard-to-find evolutionary stones.

The Third Beast

After spotting it near Cianwood City, Mt. Mortar, Vermilion City, Route 14, and defeating Misty. Suicune will appear on the hill to the east of Bill's Cottage to await your challenge. Begin with Grass- and Electric-type moves to wear its health down quickly, then switch to Fire-, Water-, Ice-, and Steel-type moves to whittle its energy down further. If you fail to catch it, defeat the Pokémon League once more to find it in the basement of the Burned Tower.

The Tomboyish Mermaid

With her time off ruined, Misty has no choice but to return to the Cerulean Gym, which specializes in Water-type Pokémon. Grass- and Electric-type attacks will inflict heavy damage to these aquatic opponents, but avoid using Fire-, Ground-, and Rock-type Pokémon.

A wicked Thunderbolt can take out Misty's Golduck and Starmie, but be wary of Starmie's Recover. Her Lapras has additional weaknesses, including Fighting- and Rock-type moves. Her Quagsire is immune to electricity, but suffers massive damage when hit by Grass-type attacks. If Rain Dance takes effect, Water moves receive a 50% power boost while Thunder's accuracy rises to 100%.

The Cascade Badge

Defeated, Misty awards you the Cascade Badge to mark your victory. She also hands out TM03 (Water Pulse) as a prize.

Route 5

Route 5

The rolling hills of Route 5 make it easy to reach the former Pokémon Day Care building. The old woman inside gives out a Cleanse Tag, which decreases the chance of encountering wild Pokémon when held by your lead party member.

Pass through Saffron City and go west to Route 7.
