Anthony (Japanese: トンペイ Tonpei) is a recurring character in the Pokémon anime and a Pokémon Coordinator who entered the Hoenn Grand Festival. He appeared in Deceit and Assist and Rhapsody in Drew.

History

Ash and his friends met Anthony while he was on the beach looking for his Contest Ribbons and Contest Pass, which had been stolen by Team Rocket. He was worried that he would not be able to enter the Grand Festival. With the help of Ash, Max, and Officer Jenny, Anthony tracked down Team Rocket and retrieved his Ribbons just in time for the competition. It was revealed that he got the 52nd place in the first Appeals Round.

Anthony was able to get through the second appeal stage and the first two-on-two Contest Battle, but lost in the next two-on-two Contest Battle against May. He promised that, despite the loss, he would train harder to one day become a Top Coordinator.
