Character recycling is a term used for the Pokémon anime for a character whose design has been used more than once.
Examples
Arnold and Travis
Arnold was featured in Hypno's Naptime. A look-a-like by the name of Travis was featured in Pokemon Double Trouble.
Annie and Stephanie
Annie was featured in Wobbu-Palooza!. A look-a-like by the name of Stephanie would appear later in Having a Wailord of a Time.
Delaney and Kent
Delaney was featured in Outrageous Fortunes. A look-a-like by the name of Kent would appear later in A Cacturne for the Worse.
Temacu
Temacu appeared in The Heartbreak of Brock. An unnamed look-a-like appeared in Staging a Heroes' Welcome!.
