Anela (Japanese: モアニ Moani) is a recurring character in the Pokémon anime. She is a friend of Ash's Torracat and runs a fruit stall in the Hau'oli City marketplace.

History

Anela first appeared in First Catch in Alola, Ketchum-Style!, where she provided Litten some Berries. After spotting a flock of Pikipek, Trumbeak, and Rowlet fly overhead, she explained to Litten that this happens every year where they come to collect food which they willingly give.

Anela reappeared in That's Why the Litten is a Scamp!‬, where she provided Litten with some more berries and explained to Ash and Professor Kukui that Litten does this every day.

Anela reappeared in One Journey Ends, Another Begins..., where she picked up a doughnut that had fallen out of Ash's bag. She went to give it back to Ash only for Litten to grab it and run off. Ash visited her following Stoutland's disappearance where she gave him some berries to give to Litten and to tell Litten it can come to the marketplace anytime.

Anela appeared once again in Alolan Open House!, where she attended the Visitors Day at the Pokémon School where she was reunited with Litten.

Anela appeared again in The Ol' Raise and Switch!, where she gave Litten some Sitrus Berries along with Rockruff, Rowlet, and Snowy.

Anela reappeared in The Professors' New Adventure!, where she was among those attending the wedding of Professor Kukui and Professor Burnet.

Anela wearing her Dancer dress

Anela appeared again in the banned episode SM064, where she got to meet Litten for the first time after its evolution into Torracat and gave it some Berries to eat. She also witnessed a fight between two groups of Passimian.

Anela reappeared again in Real Life...Inquire Within!, where she supplied Berries to Nurse Joy after hearing that she was feeling ill. She also met Ash and Mallow while they were gaining work experience at the Pokémon Center.

Anela appeared yet again in All They Want to Do is Dance Dance!, where her name was finally revealed by Mallow. She met Mallow and Steenee in the market place where she gave Steenee some fruit and watched as it danced. Learning that the Pokémon School were doing a Pokémon Dance, she suggested that they do the Hula Dance and brought out her Oricorio to perform the dance, which inspired Mallow and Steenee to do it. She was invited to the Pokémon School for a Pokémon Dance presentation, where it was revealed that she used to be a Dancer. She was later trapped by Team Rocket and watched as Steenee evolved into Tsareena.

Anela appeared once more in Dummy, You Shrunk the Kids!, where she offered an apple to a shrunken Sophocles and his Togedemaru, before Ash and Lillie arrived at her stall.

Anela briefly reappeared in SM090, where she joined the rest of Alola in showering Necrozma with light so it could return to its true form.

Anela reappeared in SM093, where she watched the Pokémon school play.

Anela appeared again in SM099, where she fed Ash's Pokémon at the marketplace.

Character

Anela is shown to be a kind, old lady, especially through her friendship with Litten. She was happy to provide it and other Pokémon with Berries, free of charge. She even provided Berries for Nurse Joy after learning that she was unwell.
