Trivia
- Due to their similar appearance, Mamanbou was originally thought to be an evolution of Luvdisc.
- Mamanbou has the highest base HP of all non-evolving Template:Type2 Pokémon.
Origin
Mamanbou appears to be a combination of a discus fish, an ocean sunfish, and a heart. Due to its hand-like fins and heart shaped body, it may have been inspired by the Claddagh ring.
Name origin
Mamanbou could be derived from 翻車魚 manbō, the Japanese word for the ocean sunfish, and "Mama", referencing its status as the Nursing Pokémon.
