Champion of | Pokémon League (Unova) |
Alder (Japanese: アデク Adeku) is the Champion of the Unova region's Elite Four in Pokémon Black and White.
In the games
In Pokémon Black and White, Alder appears as the Champion of Unova. The player meets him on Route 5 where he is seen with Cheren, whom he is telling what is important about being a Champion. He appears at several points in the game to help the player put a stop to the plans of Team Plasma, Ghetsis and N.
It is noted that, in the past, Alder had a Pokémon that died of illness, and in despair over not being able to save it, he began traveling around aimlessly. Also, Ghetsis's dialogue suggests that he may not have actually won the title of Champion, instead being requested by the Pokémon League to take the position.

Trivia
- In the Japanese version of Pokémon Black and White, Alder speaks in old-fashioned Japanese.
- Alder is the only regional Champion that can only be battled after the main storyline is completed. This is due to N's activities preventing the battle the player would have with Alder after beating the Elite Four.
- Coincidentally, Alder has a few similarities with Cipher Admin Dakim, both having spiky red hair and wearing a necklace of Poké Balls.
- While he does not specialize in any specific type, three of his six Pokémon are Template:Type2.
- Alder is the only Champion whose identity as the regional Champion is revealed before the player challenges him in the Pokémon League.
- Alder carries nine Poké Balls due to his not understanding the Pokémon storage system.
