Accelgor (Japanese: アギルダー Agilder) is a Template:Type2 Pokémon introduced in Generation V.

It evolves from Shelmet when traded for a Karrablast.

Biology

Physiology

Accelgor has a large pink head reminiscent of a helmet, adorned with green stripes, a black star-like marking on the front, and a swirled shape in the back, with its eyes in a shadowed crevice giving the appearance of a annoyed pout. The rest of its body consists of blue, segmented cloth-like tufts, with ribbon-like extensions at the top of its back. Its arms appeared to be crossed, as if in an aggressive mood.

Gender differences

None.

Special abilities

Accelgor are very fast, due to losing their shell. They can attack using ways similar to ninjas.

Trivia

  • As the armor it sported as a Shelmet has been stolen by a Karrablast, Accelgor's Defense and Special Defense stats are lower than those of its pre-evolved form, but has a higher Speed.
    • It is the fastest Generation V Pokémon and second-fastest non-legendary Pokémon after Ninjask.

Origin

Accelgor appears to be based on an auto racer, a mummy or a ninja, combined with a Giant tube worm. Its cloth-like "clothing" and bug typing may mean it may also be based on the bagworm pupa.

Name origin

Its English name is a corruption of accelerate, "to increase the speed of an object".

Its Japanese name is likely derived from アギル agiru, agile and ライダー raidā, rider.
