===Physiology===
Abra is a bipedal {{wp|mammal}}ian {{OBP|Pokémon|species}} that is primarily yellow. Its face is kite-shaped with a small, pale yellow snout and two short, pointed ears with pale yellow interiors. Its wide eyes are normally closed. Abra's body is segmented with black skin is visible between its joints and along its neck. It has two brown, {{wp|pauldron}}-shaped extensions on its shoulders, as well as a brown, {{wp|fauld}}-like piece around its chest. It has three digits on each hand and foot, but its fingers considerably shorter than its toes. Two of its toes face forward and one faces backward. Its tail is thick and long, with a brown band located near the tip.
Abra is a {{DL|List of Pokémon by body style|Pokémon with a bipedal, tailed form|bipedal, tailed}} Pokémon that loosely resembles a fox. It has two short, fox-like ears on the top of its head, and in the middle of its face, it has two eyes that are usually seen shut. It has a somewhat lighter color around its nose and mouth. Abra looks like it is wearing armor, as it has two {{wp|pauldron}}-shaped pieces on its shoulders and a {{wp|fauld}}-like piece around its chest. It, like its evolutionary relatives, has three fingers on each hand, although much stubbier, and three toes, two in the front on either side, and one in the back near the ankle. Its tail is thick and is the same gold color as the rest of its body, except for the brown band that is located around the top of the tail.
====Gender differences====
None.

===Special abilities===
Abra can sense danger through a telepathic radar. When it does, it teleports to a safe location. However, it sometimes becomes panicked if it wakes in an unknown location. By hypnotizing itself, Abra is able to teleport itself even while sleeping. It can use other extrasensory abilities while sleeping as well and can even teleport into the treetops to pick and eat berries. The deeper Abra sleeps, the farther it teleports. Due to the strain of its telepathic powers, however, Abra sleeps 18 hours each day. If it fails to rest long enough, it will become unable to use its powers. The contents in Abra's dream can affect its powers. Abra lives in {{DL|List of Pokémon by habitat|Urban Pokémon|urban areas}}, but has been observed to teleport to a different location once per hour. If it teleports randomly, it can create illusory copies.
Possessing the ability to read minds, Abra can sense danger. When it does, it usually {{m|teleport}}s in order to escape danger. It has been observed that once every hour, it will teleport to another location. By hypnotizing itself, it can send itself into sleep and be able to teleport while doing so. If it decides to teleport randomly, it creates the illusion of multiple copies. However, it can sometimes know some of the attacks its evolved forms know (although, they would not be as strong). It also has the ability to levitate over water (though it cannot avoid moves like {{m|Earthquake}}), shown in the [[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon|Mystery Dungeon]] games. Although Abra will usually flee when it is in apparent danger, they do have the ability to learn many attacks, both physical and special.

===Behavior===
===Evolution===
Abra spend 18 hours a day sleeping. If they do not obtain enough sleep, they are unable to utilize its teleportation and telekinetic abilities. Despite this, Abra is capable of attacking while asleep; however, Abra usually avoid fighting by using {{m|Teleport}} to escape.
Abra evolves into {{p|Kadabra}}, which evolves into {{p|Alakazam}}.

===Habitat===

Abra (Japanese: ケーシィ Casey) is a Psychic-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I.

It evolves into Kadabra starting at level 16, which evolves into Alakazam when traded or when exposed to a Linking Cord.

(Refer to Game data→Evolution data for more details.)

Biology

Abra is a bipedal mammalian Pokémon that is primarily yellow. Its face is kite-shaped with a small, pale yellow snout and two short, pointed ears with pale yellow interiors. Its wide eyes are normally closed. Abra's body is segmented with black skin is visible between its joints and along its neck. It has two brown, pauldron-shaped extensions on its shoulders, as well as a brown, fauld-like piece around its chest. It has three digits on each hand and foot, but its fingers considerably shorter than its toes. Two of its toes face forward and one faces backward. Its tail is thick and long, with a brown band located near the tip.

Abra lives in urban areas, but has been observed to teleport to a different location once per hour. If it teleports randomly, it can create illusory copies.

Evolution

Abra evolves into Kadabra, which evolves into Alakazam.

(For specifics on this Pokémon's evolution in the games, refer to Game data→Evolution data.)

Trivia

Origin

Abra may be based on a mystic or psychic. It also has similarities to foxes, animals mythologically tied to magic. Given the rat-like tail of its early sprites and the fact that it sleeps 18 hours a day, Abra could also draw inspiration from opossums. Its segmented body parts and animations in some games such as Pokémon Stadium are similar to those of marionette puppets.

Name origin

Abra may be derived from abracadabra, an incantation used in stage magic.

Casey may be named after Edgar Cayce, a purported psychic famous for entering self-induced trances.
