Synopsis

The beginning shows May admiring her first ribbon won in Fallarbor Town. Ash, confidently heading to the next town, and walking to a wrong path along the way, then saw a group of people and Thatcher. Thatcher told them how he joined the pep squad and believes in the power of cheering. Sheridan then told Ash and friends to join them and battle his squad to show them the power of cheering. Brock battles first "Jamester". When Brock just knocked out Jamester's Cacnea, the cheering started. Sheridan also whispered Helping Hand. Ash and May are surprised, but Max just became suspicious, claiming that he saw something from one of the drums. Then after Forrestress gets knocked out, its Ash going to battle "Jessica". While Jessica is thinking of their plan to capture Pikachu, Seviper is taking all of Pikachu's attacks. When Jessica is asking for some cheering, Sheridan claims that be patient, for Seviper is still able to battle. When it finally gets so weak, the drums started and Sheridan whispered Aromatherapy to a Roselia and Vileplume, which are hidden in the drum. Max then became even more suspicious and decides to go undercover to check. He heard Sheridan whispering Helping Hand and Aromatherapy to 4 Pokémon inside the drums, and other drum containing a Makuhita and a Shroomish. After Seviper taking so many hits from Pikachu, recovering from it, and taking another hit, over and over until Max finally pushed a drum which sets the other tumbling, breaking open to reveal the Pokémon inside. Sheridan's squad was shocked, and so was Ash and friends. The squad believed Sheridan and were very disappointed, even claiming of their money paid to him. He runs off, never to be seen again. Meanwhile, Jessica and Jamester reveal themselves, stealing Pikachu. But the robot they planned for was out, so they used their balloon, which Meowth forgot to insulate from Pikachu's attacks. Although Thatcher was upset, he was impressed with Ash's teamwork with Pikachu, idolizing him and claims he will practice more to be just as great as him. While they leave and head for the next town, they say farewell to Thatcher, hoping to see each other again.
