Question

Does Pay Day's effect happen in link battles? Or just in-game battles? --Baby G (talk to me) (see my edits) 00:29, 26 September 2008 (UTC)

I'm not sure, but I don't think so. This also applies to Battle Tower/Frontier battles...speaking of money, the most one can gain without use of items (other than PP Max) is $640, since you can get $200 for a lv. 100 Pokémon and up to 32 PP can be gained, right? ht14 14:09, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
How do you get $640 from that? 200 times 32 is $6400. Although it seems correct other than that. So, theoretically. The Dark Fiddler - Smarter than the average bear! 14:13, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Whoops... ht14 23:51, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Don't mean to revive a dead conversation, but can we use the AMulet Coin to double our gains, making a total of $12800? Θρtιmαtum♏Talk|Links 00:15, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
I doubt it. The Amulet coin only affects the amount of money the Trainer gives you. TESHIGIGAS 00:18, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
Doubles money received after battle if the holder takes part in the battle. It's on the Amulet coin's description. Θρtιmαtum♏Talk|Links 00:20, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
Maybe it does affect it, I don't know. But this is one of those things where you need to test it. TESHIGIGAS 00:27, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
It affects Pay Day's money, too, at least in D/P, but I distinctly remember it being the same in Fire Red. I tested it with a Level 100 Meowth on a level 18 Wooper. Without the amulet, 500, and with, 1000. In the same vein, I tried in D/P's Battle Park, and there was no money gained during a challenge.Neo Qwerty 01:16, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

Twice your level?

I've been using a Meowth level 18 in LeafGreen and attacking with Pay Day. Each time, it gave me 90$, and 180 if used twice. And then my Meowth gained a level, and each time he used Pay Day, it gave me 95$. Is it possible that it was changed to 5 times your pokemon's level? That would be my guess, but if others can confirm... Thanks! Dargad 03:12, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

I know for sure it was 2× in Generation I--being inexperienced when I first played Yellow, I often taught the starter Pikachu the move via TM and used it often against Rhydon in the Cerulean Cave to make big profits. Keep in mind that the Generation I games had no real easy money-making methods.
The best way to test your theory would be to test Pay Day in each generation, both with and without the Amulet Coin in Generation II onward. This'll give us a timetable on both if and when the Pay Day ratio changes. --Shiningpikablu252 03:22, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
The 5× ratio definitely applies in generation IV, in Platinum using it twice gave me $300 with a level 30. -Mattrules161 12:27, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
Your confusion is due to a lack of understanding to a simple Math Equation. (Level 18 x 5$ per Level = 90$ x 2 IF Amulet Coin is Held = 180$)--Arima 01:53, 30 November 2009 (UTC)
If Generation I Rules for Pay Day were to still apply, then: (Level 18 x 2$ per Level = 36$ x 2 IF Amulet Coin is Held = 72$)--Arima 01:58, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

Enemy Meowth

When battling a trainer's or a wild Meowth and they use pay day, do you pick up the money if you beat them? - unsigned comment from Cheshy458 (talkcontribs)

Unfortunately, No. --Arima 03:32, 23 November 2009 (UTC)

Importance of Pay Day

Generation I

The Elite Four and Pay Day are the only Infinite Sources of Money after every other Trainer in the game is beaten.

Generation II

Rematch opportunities are provided via the PokéGear "Phone" function, the Trainer House, and Red.

Generation III

The "Trainer's Eyes" function of the PokéNav in Ruby & Sapphire conveniently indicates trainers that want to rematch with a flashing PokéBall Icon next to their name. Although the Player had to wait one or several days for a rematch and travel far and wide to find and battle with the Rematching Trainers that were scattered in various locations.

The VS Seeker in FireRed & LeafGreen, albeit less convenient than the PokéNav, allowed the player to have rematches with previously beaten Trainers at any time.

Generation IV

The Hotel Grand Lake Restaurant provides 5 double battles in one convenient location per day. --Arima 03:37, 23 November 2009 (UTC)

Generation II also had PokéGear rematches... ht14 03:50, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
In Generation II there was also the Pokégear phone, the trainer house, and Red. --AndyPKMN 12:45, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
What about the other Elite Four's and the Battleground/Fighting Dojo in Platinum, HeartGold, and SoulSilver? The Battleground provides up to 4 matches a day which give a lot of money. Turtwig A (talk | contribs) 12:35, 30 November 2009 (UTC)
How is this significant anyway? As far as I know, there's no section of the Pickup or Covet pages regarding their "importance". Pay Day earns you extra money after a battle; that's its "importance". I fail to see how the different methods of earning money in different games is relevant to the article. --AndyPKMN 12:40, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

Generation II

Pay Day's profits are also affected while you hold the Amulet Coin in Pokémon Crystal, I don't know if it also works in Gold and Silver. --Falgun 16:49, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

Mystery Dungeon Blue

Is pay day in blue mystery dungeon?tinylittlekityy

Yes. Werdnae (talk) 05:31, 4 December 2011 (UTC)

Only two ways?

It says that in Generation I, the only way to earn money after beating all trainers is to use Pay Day or challenge the Elite Four. But you can still sell items, and even if you have found all the items in the game it is still possible to get items to sell by catching Pokemon with wild held items. I'm changing it unless there is a problem with my logic. Frenchhorn 21:09, 27 December 2011 (UTC)

Held items are not a feature in the Gen I games. Pokemon in Gen I dont ppear to have held items unless they are traded to a Gen II game. Vuvuzela2010 Δ 22:35, 27 December 2011 (UTC)
Though technically, items could still be regenerated and sold, if players are really lucky in the Game Corner. Vuvuzela2010 Δ 22:38, 27 December 2011 (UTC)

Possible glitch?

In HGSS, when my Meowth used Pay Day on an opponent, on occasion, the Mother will call about having bought items with my money, even though the money picked up wasn't "sent to Mom". Anyone else see this? ht14 21:14, 9 March 2012 (UTC)

Battle Limit

In ORAS it maxed out at $99,999 picked up from one battle. (did 200+ with level 100 Smeargle in Blissey bases with luck incense, happy hour, price money o power lv 3 active.) Pain34736 (talk) 05:15, 26 August 2016 (UTC)

Signature move

Pay Day was not the signature move of Persian from Generation IV to VI. Also, with Perrserker now being part of Meowth's evolutionary line, I think we should specify Meowth and Persian instead of saying "Meowth's evolutionary line", even if most of us know that Perrserker is new. Wasn't sure the best way to reword it but here's what I've got for now:

In Generations II and III, it was the signature move of Meowth and Persian, and from Generation IV to VI, it was the signature move of Meowth.

Thoughts? Landfish7 18:57, 12 April 2022 (UTC)

Sure. I think it was written the way it is now because technically Persian can know it via evolution.--ForceFire 05:48, 13 April 2022 (UTC)

Gen 3 Pay Day Whirlwind

I'm currently farming money with pay day outside Celadon and after using it a pidgey hit me with whirlwind and ended the battle. I did not gain the money after the battle. Not sure how to edit a page myself or if I even can so maybe someone else who knows can? Also yeah this is just my FGC name I'm not spreading misinformation on the internet I promise Miss Information (talk) 22:17, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
