It says in "Trivia" that it may be from the U.S. because Lt. Surge is from there. What?! I don't think that it's safe to assume that. After all, Looker and Fantina are from seperate countries, a Rocket Grunt in GSCHGSS is from a foreign country, and there are many more examples that I could mention. In fact, there are regions that aren't part of the nation that Hoenn is in. They might even be talking about a different region in the same nation. Where in the canon does it say that it's from the U.S.? Pawsrent 23:22, 30 August 2010 (UTC)

Well, looking at the likely inspiration for Corphish (the Red Swamp Crayfish, native to central US from the Gulf Coast up to Illinois), it wouldn't be much of a stretch to claim it's from Unova, and it's not contradicted by the Black/White/2 Dex entries. However, that's all speculation.--Aescula (talk) 11:25, 12 January 2017 (UTC)

Ok, so what kind of crab is it based on? There's two spellings given for it. And the Wiki article link leads to a 'Wikipedia does not have an article with this name' page--BJG

Sorry. Fixed. -Argy

I think Heike is japanese for crayfish.

平家蟹 【へいけがに】 (n) Heikegani, Heike crab

Not quite... Heike is Japanese for Taira family. More info on the link between this and the crab on the linked-to article. - 振霖T 03:59, 3 Apr 2005 (UTC)

It seems to be a cross between a crayfish and a lobster to me...--BJG

Corfish?

I found out today that "corfish" is an actual word. But I can't work out what it means, or how Corphish may be related to it. (Corpshish doesn't look like a codfish, or any kind of fish, after all...)

I don't know, but they look nothing alike. Their names may be similar, but that's it. I don't see why somebody added a load of crap about the Corfish's biology either. empoleon dynamite 12/01/08

Name origin

Holy fudge... the Name Origin section is a little large. Could someone break it down a little? TinaTheKirlia ♥ 19:48, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

Hey hey!

In Mystery Dungeon: Darkness and Time, one of the guild members is a Corphish that always says "Hey hey!" Well, I noticed that the first syllable of its Japanese name is hei, pronounced like hey. In this clip, around 30 seconds, you can clearly hear Ash's Corphish shout "Hei hei!", which sounds like "Hey hey!" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqF93w2iLmA&feature=channel_page

Coincidence? - unsigned comment from GigaMetroid99 (talkcontribs)
