== Latias and Latios Species ==

Should it be mentioned in the trivia section that while Latios and Latias are one species in the anime, only with tons of sexual dimorphism, the games' internal coding considers them two separate species? What I mean is that they're different from Nidoran because an egg produced by either gender Nidoran can also hatch into either gender Nidoran, but an egg produced by a Latias can only hatch into a Latias, and an egg laid by a Latios can only hatch into a Latios. I bred them using Action Replay, and all the eggs produced by Latias and Ditto hatched into Latias, all the eggs produced by Latios and Ditto hatched into Latios, and all the eggs produced by Latios and Latias hatched into Latias.--[[User:Celebi96|Celebi96]] 01:38, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
==Origin==
Since it & Blaziken were originally the same Pokemon, could Latias (& Latios) also be based on Junglefowl/Chickens? Worth noting I think.[[User:Vuvuzela2010|Vuvuzela2010]] 21:49, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aeon#In_Gnosticism

Rockets-mew-of-vp is an associate of mine. I was the one that explained to him the connection I saw between the Eon Pokemon and Aeons. In the article, it explains that certain Aeons are immaterial beings of concepts. They are emanations from God, they also emanate other aeons. 32 appear to exist in all, 34 in certain interpretations. This may also explain how it is they have genders and are incapable of mating, yet have more than one exist at a time. Though in games canon, Kyogre, Groudon, and Raquaza appear in two different regions, but are native to only one and being one of a kind each.

Another reason being, as of you course you have gathered, is that the words "eon" and "aeon" are the same, it is only in North America that the word is spelled as "eon" rather than "aeon". They are both the same word having the same general meaning of a great span of time. All information I have gathered on the subject matter has been from wikipedia.
:I do think it is highly likely that the Lati were based on the Aeons and that should definitely be added to the Origin section (it kinda puts my Junglefowl theory to shame...) '''X'''[[User:Vuvuzela2010|'''Vuvuzela2010''']]'''X''' 01:33, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
== Sizes on Pokémon pages.. ==

Something that's been bugging me for a while. I've been manually going around and resizing the main art boxes at the top of each Pokémon page so they all match each other and look uniform. However, many times box sizes will still be off by a few pixels. Would there be anyway to code something that keeps them all the same size? [http://i54.tinypic.com/28rcc53.png] is an example of what Ii'm talking about. Basically, the box that surrounds the art.~★ '''[[User:Cubic Question|''cubic'']][[User talk:Cubic Question|''QUESTION'']]''' 13:48, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
:Even if you make the width a certain size, the length will be different according to the size of the art. To get it uniform, you would have to make every file have some whitespace so it would be the same size. That won't happen though. The boxes don't really need to be uniform in size. '''[[User:Blake|Blake]]''' [[User talk:Blake#top|Talk]]·[[Special:Contributions/Blake|Edits]] 20:23, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
No, I'm not geting 504s (or, if I am, FireFox is hiding them); I'm getting something even worse: pages not loading at all. A couple of days ago, I was going to come here to get a small amount of information, and it took ages to do so (so long in fact that I just got it O_O). I think the servers are being overstressed - despite the fact that I was getting good ping times off of 10 pings to the site's router (if there is one), I couldn't load any pages - not even robots.txt! == Metric tags in Pokédex entries ==
All pokedex entries use the imperial units of measurement from the US translation. I suggest adding tags with the metric counterparts for two reasons:

1 - the original Japanese entries use metric units, so it could be seen as "more canon".

2 - there are international users of Bulbapedia (me included) that are not used to imperial units.

For example, the final sentence in Magneton's entry in Yellow could be: ''It raises the temperature by {{tt|3.6F degrees|2°C}} within {{tt|3,300 feet|1 km}}.''

If the staff agrees, I'm willing to go through all Pokedex entries and add the metric values. I know enough Japanese to easily get the official values from the pokedex entries listed on the Japanese wiki, assuming those are correct.

--[[User:BlackySully|BlackySully]] 09:05, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

:Metric system seems like a pretty simple and straightforward thing to include, it's merely a big job to go through ''everything'' and add the metric equivalent. Perhaps starting small, with say the Pokémon infobox only for now, and work our way up (every infobox should list the Pokémon's height and weight, so it's the most prominent use of the imperial system). Pokédex entries are also pretty simple, but I'd also say they're the less important area to work on (no complaints if you want to fix them all yourself, however). --[[user:Jioruji_Derako| '''J'''ïörüjï '''Ð'''ērākō.'''>''']][[user talk:Jioruji Derako|''.cнаt'''''^''']] 11:28, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
== Clearer distinction between "natural" and Dream World abilities. ==
I think the distinction between pokémon that only have certain abilities through the Pokémon Dream World and those that don't can be made clearer. For example, on pages of separate abilities there is just one table with normal and PDW pokémon all mixed up, while it would be easier to make separate tables for both. I think this would help both users that own Pokémon Black or White and those that don't. Besides that we could also make a category for "Abilities exclusive to Pokémon Dream World", like {{a|Harvest}}. --[[User:BlackySully|BlackySully]] 00:22, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
Bulbanews is a different wiki altogether. Though they're both part of Bulbagarden, both Bulbapedia and Bulbanews have their own front pages. The information you're looking for is on Bulbanews's front page and if you have any other questions about it, it'd make sense to ask on that talk page rather than this one. I was just thinking of a very useful idea. On the pages for each route, cave, etc, where the wild Pokémon are listen, I was thinking we should add another column after each Pokémon and say "1 Speed," or "2 Attack," or something. == Animated G5 Sprites... ==

Would it be possible to put in the full, animated versions of the sprites from Generation 5? Generation 2 and 3 sprites are animated... I was also wondering if this would just be too much trouble or would overload the server. You can find the sprites [http://www.arkeis.com/animatedsprites.html/ here.] (good website, I think that they're all accurate. Whoever made it did an awesome job). Also, those sprites wouldn't have to be used, it's just the resource that I found. the files are .gif files... Thanks!!! [[User:Bapplesauce|Bapplesauce]] 02:51, 8 January 2011 (UTC)
:Some of the BW sprites are animated PNGs. We don't want to use GIFs for Generation IV and V sprites. ::To clarify what Jello said, the date we use for the countdown is the ''first'' official ''English'' release date. For Platinum it was the North American date, as the North American date was before the European date. For Black and White the European date is first, so we are counting down to that date. If, by some chance, the next main series game(s) is/are released in Australia and New Zealand first (I wish), then we will count down to that date instead. :::::Ah, I get it now.--[[User:Celibi25|Celibi25]] 02:11, 22 January 2011 (UTC)
::::::Yes, I was actually meaning changing the existing one (even if only once it had expired). However the same applies for multiple countdowns. The bigger issue (bigger than the server load) is that if we are going to have more than one countdown, we must then include a countdown for ''every'' English release, since we aren't being biased towards any one region. So we would probably end up with five or six, rather than two, and that would be too many. Not server-load too many, although it could prove problematic, but too many space-wise on the main page. If you wish to put your own countdown on your userpage, I remember seeing a template for it floating around in someone's userspace.

::::::The reason we are doing the first English release, rather than the American release, it that this is an Engligh-language site, rather than a specifically North American site. Although the servers are in the US, our webmaster, Archaic, lives in Australia. To make a special case for the North American release would appear as a great big insult to all our non-American users, since we've never done anything like that for the European release when it was second. [[User:Werdnae|Werdnae]] [[User talk:Werdnae|(talk)]] 02:27, 22 January 2011 (UTC)
Even though there is a list of all the names and it's been correct so far (and will probably be right about the other names), the remaining names on the list have not been confirmed officially by Nintendo, which means it's not officially canon yet. ==Characteristics==
Dark-type Pokémon were added in [[Generation II]].

Dark-type Pokémon are notable for the fact that they don't have any strong stat trends other than Attack (which is in and of itself modified by a few powerful outliers and slightly ironic as Dark was a special type, not a physical type), but usually have relatively poor defenses, with the exception of {{p|Umbreon}}, {{p|Spiritomb}}, {{p|Drapion}}, {{p|Zuruzukin}}, {{p|Barujiina}} and {{p|Tyranitar}}. Just the same, Pokémon that are both Dark-type and {{type2|Ghost}} have no true weaknesses, as the resistances of the Dark-type cover the weaknesses of Ghost, and vice-versa. One of the greatest advantages of the Dark-type is that they are immune to {{type2|Psychic}}s.

Dark-type moves, when combating Psychic-types, are especially useful due to their secondary effects; {{m|Crunch}} lowers Defense (an already low stat among Psychic-types), {{m|Bite}} causes {{Status|flinch|Flinching}}, {{m|Faint Attack}} never misses, {{m|Night Slash}} has a high [[critical hit]] ratio while {{m|Pursuit}} hits Pokémon as they switch for double damage. Many Dark-type moves also involve stealing or deception, such as moves like {{m|Thief}}, which steals an opponent's held item, and {{m|Snatch}}, which steals the beneficial effects of an opponent's moves.

Even though the Dark type was considered a [[special move|special type]] prior to [[Generation IV]], all three special Dark-type moves ({{m|Dark Pulse}}, {{m|Bark Out}} and {{m|Night Burst}}) were introduced after [[Generation III]], meaning that all Dark-type moves that were once special moves are now all [[Physical move]]s.

When used in contests, Dark-type moves typically are of the [[Smart Contest|Smart]] category, but can also fall in any of the other four Contest categories.

==Pokémon==
As of Generation V, there are 39 Dark-type Pokémon, making it tied with the {{type2|Electric}} as the twelfth most common elemental type.
==Trivia==
* There are no Dark-type moves with a base power greater than 95, making it the only elemental type without a single move with a base power of 100 or more (other than {{m|Judgment}}). This means that while holding the {{DL|Plate|Dread Plate}}, Judgment becomes the strongest Dark-type move with 100 power.
**The move {{m|Fling}} is an exception. Flinging a [[Valuable item#Rare Bone|Rare Bone]], a [[Type-enhancing item#Hard Stone|Hard Stone]], or any [[Fossil]] will give the move 100 base power, while flinging an [[In-battle effect item#Iron Ball|Iron Ball]] will result in 130 base power.
**In addition, the move {{m|Punishment}} can have a maximum base power of 200.
* None of the main characters of the {{pkmn|anime}} own a Dark-type Pokémon. However, {{Ash}}, [[James]], and {{an|May}} own or have owned Pokémon that can evolve into a Dark-type.
* Officially, this type's Brazilian Portuguese translation is "Noturno", but at times it is named as "Sombrio" or "Trevas" as well. However, ''Sombrio'' means Shadow, another type.
* The Dark type is the only type which does not have members from all generations released so far.
** It is also the only type absent from a [[regional Pokédex]], not appearing in the [[List of Pokémon by Kanto Pokédex number|Kanto Pokédex]].
** The opposite is true for moves, with {{m|Bite}}'s change from being a {{type2|Normal}} to a Dark-type move causing there to be Dark-type moves from all five generations.
* {{m|Dark Void}} is the only Dark-type move without 95% accuracy or higher.
* There has yet to be a [[Pokémon Gym]] that specializes in the Dark type. Despite this, there have been three [[Elite Four]] members who specialize in Dark-type Pokémon.
* Generation V introduced the most Dark-type Pokémon, introducing 16 of the 39.
* So far, 9 Dark-type moves has been shown in the anime, the least of all elemental types.
* All Physical Dark type moves have either 100% accuracy or cannot miss the target.

==A note on HGSS Psychic==

The HGSS demo ([http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_vgK1cObRI Shown here]) features a Male Psychic with the same sprite he had in DP. I must stress not to officially add this detail to the main page until a Psychic appears on [http://www.pokemon.co.jp/special/hgss/ the official site] or when the game is released. Until then, I will put <nowiki></nowiki> tags around the concerning label. - '''[[User:Chosen|Chosen]] of [[User talk:Chosen|Mana]]''' - 16:11, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
==Psychics in B/W==

Something to note about the psychics that turn around in Pokémon Black and White is that they only turn around when the player press the B button. I have not fully researched this, but it's an interesting trivia. This is at least true in the 3rd floor of The Tower Of Heaven.
'''Baoba''' (Japanese: '''バオバ''') is a character in {{game|HeartGold and SoulSilver|s}}. He is the owner of the new [[Johto Safari Zone|Safari Zone]] west of [[Cianwood City]].

==In the games==
Baoba is from [[Kanto]], the home of the original [[Kanto Safari Zone|Safari Zone]]. In the events of the original {{game|Gold and Silver|s}}, this area is closed to the player; it is revealed in [[Generation IV]] that Kanto's [[Pal Park]] is located there instead. Because he is such a fan of the Safari Game played within the Zone, Baoba decides to build a new one in the [[Johto]] region. This is explained to the player the first time he or she meets him, on [[Route 38]]. They will also receive Baoba's phone number.

The entrance to Baoba's Safari Zone is located at the north end of [[Route 48]]. It will not be able to be reached, however, until after [[Amphy]] the {{p|Ampharos}} in the [[Glitter Lighthouse]] has been healed with the [[SecretPotion]]. Baoba will call the player on their [[PokéGear]] to let them know that the area is open for business.

While the Safari Zone is by no means a compulsory part of the game, it is useful for obtaining rare and valuable Pokémon. Baoba will periodically issue challenges to those who wish to play a Safari Game. The first challenge is to capture a Geodude in the Safari Zone and then show it to him. This task is quite easy as Geodude is found in the first area of the Safari Zone. When you have showed the Geodude to Baoba he will say something about calling you when the changes have been done. After approximately 12 to 24 hours he will call you and say that the changes are done. When you arrive inside the gatehouse he will explain to you that you can now customize the Safari Zone with the machine next to the counter. This is quite useful because you can now place the various areas based on how much you use them. After the first challange you also unlock some adittional ares that you can add to the Safari Zone with the customization machine.

The second challange is to catch a Sandshrew in the Safari Zone. This can be a little tricky as you have to add the Desert Area to the Safari Zone with the customization machine before you start. After you have done the challenge and showed the Sandshrew to Baoba, he will say that he will call you later. It is still unclear when he call you after this, but it is assumed that you have to obtain the National Dex first. When you arrive at the Safari Zone after Baoba calls you he will explain to you that you can now add decorations to the Safari Zone to lure out Pokemon that are a higher level, and maybe not native to the Kanto or Johto region.
