Wurmple (Japanese: ケムッソ Kemusso) is a Bug Pokémon.

Wurmple will evolve into either Silcoon or Cascoon starting at level 7 depending on its personality value. As personality values cannot be influenced by the player, what a given Wurmple will evolve into is essentially random. From there, the Silcoon or Cascoon will evolve again starting at level 10 into Beautifly or Dustox respectively.

Biology
Physiology
Wurmple's body is colored red at the top and a cream color on the belly. It has a sharp stinger on its head and has two on its rear. It also has small spikes running down its body.
Diet
Pokémon food

In the various Pokédex entries on Wurmple, it is described as eating leaves or pulling the bark off of trees to feed on the sap. This makes them easy to attract with Honey.

In the anime
Both May and Jessie each captured a Wurmple in All in a Day's Wurmple. May's Wurmple evolved into Silcoon in A Corphish Out of Water while Jessie evolved into a Cascoon in the same episode.

One was again shown in A Trainer and Child Reunion! as a Pokémon that was released by Aaron when he was younger. It came back years later as a Aaron.
NPC appearances
* Pokémon Mystery Dungeon 2: Wurmple is one of the members of Team Tasty, alongside Swellow. A running joke is that Wurmple is terrified that Swellow is going to eat him, and that's why he named their team that.
Trivia
*Wurmple shares the same species name with Caterpie. They are both known as the Worm Pokémon.
*All four different species names belonging to Wurmple's evolutionary family are shared with a Generation I Pokémon.
*Wurmple is the only Pokémon whose branched evolutions evolve further. All other Pokémon with a branch in their evolutionary line either evolve once before the branch or do not have any other evolutionary event besides the one which is branched.
*Along with Clamperl and Burmy, it is one of the only Pokémon whose multiple evolutionary paths are all Pokémon of the same generation as it is.
*Wurmple, along with Caterpie and Weedle, evolves at level 7, the lowest set level in the games (though Pokémon that evolve by level up with another method can evolve as low as level 1).

Origin
Wurmple is based on a caterpillar. It also appears to resemble an earwig somewhat.

Name origin
Wurmple's name is a combination of worm and rumple, referring to the wrinkled texture of its skin. Its Japanese name is derived from 毛虫 kemushi, caterpillar.
Spoiler links
I had to revert your edits to DP002 and DP003 because the links you put in were considered spoilers. I faced a similar situation before and the issue was settled here. Only on consecutive episode lists does this rule hold though. It's fine to do so on other articles, but not on episode articles. For example, Ash's Starly would have to be mentioned as Starly until DP013, when it can be addressed as Staravia, and then up to DP118, when Staravia can be addressed as Staraptor. --rockersk08 00:24, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
Link templates
It's good to see you've got the hang of these. However, I notice you are manipulating some templates to display what could be coded with a simpler template. For example, Poison is better written as Poison - and it's grammatically accurate as well. A full list of link templates can be found here. —darklordtrom 07:14, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
"Other Methods"
Surely trade-based evolution counts as another method? I ask as you reverted my edit, and was just curious as to how you came across this conclusion. Especially since it's mentioned in the Methods of evolution article, which is why I've taken the liberty of changing it back to level 1. --No-one is going to give you a lvl 100 Regigigas for a level 1 Magikarp. 20:10, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

The reason I reverted it was because it said level up, not just other methods. Turtwig A Contributions Talk 20:13, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
Fair enough. I'll fix it. --No-one is going to give you a lvl 100 Regigigas for a level 1 Magikarp. 20:17, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Biology
Physiology
May's Wurmple evolved into Silcoon in A Corphish Out of Water while Jessie evolved into a Cascoon in the same episode.

One was again shown in A Trainer and Child Reunion! as a Pokémon that was released by Aaron when he was younger. It came back years later as a Aaron.

Diet
In the various Pokédex entries on Wurmple, it is described as eating leaves or pulling the bark off of trees to feed on the sap. This makes them easy to attract with Honey.
In the anime
May's Wurmple evolved into Silcoon in A Corphish Out of Water while Jessie evolved into a Cascoon in the same episode.

One was again shown in A Trainer and Child Reunion! as a Pokémon that was released by Aaron when he was younger. It came back years later as a Aaron.
