Pokémon Adventures
Diamond & Pearl
In Problematic Probopass and Mad Magnezone II, a Chilan Berry was seen among the many Berries that Cyrus's Probopass's Mini-Noses dug out of Lax's fur while trying to retrieve Cyrus's camera.

Trivia
* Unlike the other damage-reducing Berries, the Chilan Berry weakens attack damage (except by moves that deal direct damage) regardless of type effectiveness, instead of Damage damage only. This may be because Normal-type moves cannot normally be super effective.
* The Chilan Berry does not weaken Present if it heals the target.
* This is the only Berry which, when held, allows the move Natural Gift to be Normal.
* Another Berry in Ruby and Sapphire has the same name. However, this Berry is exclusive to its relevant e-Reader card, hence it is unavailable in Generation IV games and will become an Enigma Berry if traded over.
* When buying Chilan Berries in Join Avenue, the text will say "A set of four Chilan Berries. They weaken a supereffective Normal-type attack against the holding Pokémon." This is most likely a mistake since all other damage-reducing Berries only work if the attack is super-effective.

Origin
The Chilan Berry's design and name may be based on a Physalis alkekengi.
The Chilan Berry does not exist in any other Pokémon Generation and when I look at other pages such as "Colbur Berry" they do not have "(Generation IV)" after its name either. --Chickasaurus 22:44, 17 February 2010 (UTC)
::I think this page should be moved simply to Chilan Berry. It redirects here anyway and the page points out that the e-Reader Berry exists. Due to the fact that it is also in Generation V, the name is currently incorrect. The e-Reader Berry is much less likely to be searched for than the current Berry. Not only was the old Berry in an old Generation only, but it was event-only. --<span style="color:#A70000">Snorlax</span><span style="color:#0000A7">Monster</span> 12:20, 27 April 2011 (UTC)
:::Definitely needs moving. Currently relevant. Mattrules161 20:19, 27 April 2011 (UTC)
It should be moved to just Chilan Berry and the old one should be Chilan Berry (Generation III) Pokémon Trainer Miki 22:04, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
Chilan Berry Confusion Interaction
Saw that there was no mention of this on any major Pokemon site, at least from what I could find, so figured it deserved a mention.
In Heartgold/Soulsilver at the very least(possibly the rest of Gen IV as well but haven't tested) hitting yourself in confusion can activate Chilan Berry. This was done fighting a wild Rattata who was too low leveled to know any non-Normal type attacks so this may require some testing to see if it applies to all moves or just Normal ones, but it's worth adding a mention to. Worth investigating other games to see if it's the case in them.
