Glitch City Laboratories (GCL for short) is a Pokémon fansite, created by Abwayax in 2005 (although it is the latest in a history of sites that spans back to 2003), that focuses primarily on glitches. The site looks into them very far, a big part being getting "GlitchDex" entries for all of them, including methods of getting them, moves (starting, standard (up to level 100), advanced (up to level 255), and sprites. Also, a member on the forums, Bluelatios, has gotten cries for many glitch Pokémon. It is unknown if these will ever go into the GlitchDex. Another main part is the "Big List", aka the hex list. This includes hexes from Red and Blue, Yellow, and Gold and Silver. This will supposedly get an update. It includes not only Pokémon, but also attacks and items.
Databases
These are the GlitchDex, the AttackDex, and the ItemDex. The GlitchDex has plenty of information on glitch Pokémon, namely the sprite, the method(s) of obtaining it, aswell as moves. The moves are divided into three categories: Starting Moves, learned at level 0, Standard Moves, learned up to level 100, and Advanced Moves, learned up to level 255. The AttackDex is not a database of all attacks like that on Serebii.net, but rather one of all "glitch moves". After that, is the very similar ItemDex. This documents "glitch items".
Projects
The projects on the site are big sets of updates all connected to one thing.. The first one, Project Melchior, was to collect data on every single glitch Pokémon in all of the games, at least up to Generation III. This is "still not finished", as there are more than 65,000 glitch Pokémon in Ruby and Sapphire that have not yet been documented. This part was recently started by staff member Newo, and was named Melchior X, as the next "part" of the project. The second one, in effect now, Project Balthasar, is to finish a second version of the GlitchDex, the GlitchDex 2.0. Also, in July an overhaul of the site was mentioned, which is presumably also part of Project Balthasar.
Articles
Glitch City Laboratories contais very detailed aricles on more or less all known glitches. They contain pictures, extra tricks, and very detailed explanations. Here is a list of the glitches docmented:
Generation I
* Ditto Trick

Generation III
* "Cool Move"

* Stand on a tree

* The "Pomeg glitch"

Some things to make note of are the naming "Old Man Glich" for the glitch known for many years as the MissingNo. glitch. Also, the naming "Bill's Secret Garden" for a glitch getting behind his house. "Bill's Secret Garden" was the name of a Pokégod-type rumor. And lastly, some glitches there are ones completely unheard of until recently, such as the "ZZAZZ" glitch.

Effect
Generation I
Transform changes the user's current type(s), current stats, current stat levels, current move(s), current species, current cry, and current catch rate to the target's current type(s), current stats, current stat levels, current move(s), current species, current cry, and current catch rate. Each move copied by Transform will have 5 PP.

Transform does not copy the target's status ailments, level, current or maximum HP, base experience, palette colors, or the generic minimize image. The current stat changes due to Transform will be ignored by critical hits, because critical hits are based upon the Pokémon's original stats. Transform affects the user and not the target, so it is not affected by modification to the Accuracy stat and Evasion stat. However, Transform cannot be used on a target that is in the semi-invulnerable turn of a move such as Dig or Fly.

In-game, if a wild Pokémon uses Transform and is subsequently caught, it will become a Ditto, regardless of what species it originally was. It will then have all the stats and moves of a Ditto, except for its current HP, which will remain unaltered by this change.

In Stadium, Transform will not work if the target's current species is Ditto.

Generation II - III
Transform, if used by a shiny2 Pokémon, will cause the Pokémon species transformed into to appear shiny. Likewise, a normal Pokémon transforming into a shiny target's species will appear as a normal version.

Generation IV
Unlike Generations II and III, the user of the move instead copies the target's alternate coloration. Therefore, if the target is shiny, then the user's transformed state will also be shiny.

In the anime
The Pokémon briefly glows and then takes on the appearance of the other Pokémon.

Pokémon
Ditto
* Duplica owns two Ditto and likes to 'transform' with them. Her second, Mini-Dit, has the unusual problem of not being able to change its size in transformation. Duplica's first Ditto also displayed the ability to transform into inanimate objects, such as a book, a photograph frame and a cannon.
* Ash's Orange League battle with Drake began with Pikachu having to face a copy of itself because of Ditto's transformation. Many trainers cannot compete with this, though Ash succeeded.
Latias
* In Pokémon Heroes, Latias is able to Transform into people, however, it's suggested it's merely an illusion of light reflection, as Latias' body shape appears the same when looked through heat vision goggles.
Mew
* The Mew in Lucario and the Mystery of Mew can Transform into any Pokémon, even if that Pokémon species is not with Mew.

In Mystery Dungeon
In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon 2 transform works differently. When used it merely takes the form of the Pokémon but not the moves leaving the player only Struggle left to use.

The Transform paradox
If Ditto (or another Pokémon with only Transform) faces another Pokémon with Transform in a Trainer battle where neither Trainer has any items and no Pokémon besides the Pokémon with Transform, the battle will never end. This is because when Transform is used, the Pokémon will turn into its target, resulting in a Transform moveset of, again, only Transform. Since every time Transform is used, it gives the Pokémon using it the target's moveset with 5 PP each, Transform will continue to Transform into itself, restoring the PP every time it is used.

Due to this, the Pokémon will never reach a point where it can only use Struggle, unlike what is the case with Wynaut and Wobbuffet. This is likely why no Trainers have Ditto in the Generation IV games, except in the Battle Tower, where one can always retire.

The Space-Time Tower is an anime-exclusive building located in Sinnoh. It first appeared in A Secret Sphere of Influence (albeit as a diorama in the Eterna Museum), and then had a major role in The Rise of Darkrai. Besides being a building, it is the largest instrument of the Pokémon world.

Within the Space Tower are large spheres rotating on orbits. Within the Time Tower are large pendulums. Outside in between the two towers is a long and thin winding staircase, leading up to the top of the tower. There lies a large machine. By inserting special disks into a place-holder, and pulling a lever, the machine will function, and music will be played. This is a similar function as a piano (but the strings are aligned in a cylinder).

The Space-Time Tower was vital for the safety of Alamos Town during the events of The Rise of Darkrai. The song, Oración, able to calm the fiercest rage, when played, soothes Dialga and Palkia, over-all saving Alamos from destruction.

It's also where the Alamos Town pokémon contest is held.
Magikarp (Japanese: コイキング Koiking) is a Water Pokémon.

It evolves into Gyarados at level 20.

Due to its low stats (speed, however, at 80, being the highest) and the fact that it only has the move Splash until Level 15, Magikarp is often considered the weakest Pokémon in existence.

Biology
Physiology
Magikarp is a medium sized orange fish. Its notable characteristics include large, heavy scales. Its fins are primarily white, but it has a stiff, three-peaked fin on its back and another on its stomach which are both yellow. It also has long barbels.

Gender differences
A female has white barbels.

Special abilities
Magikarp is notable in the fact that it has no real special powers. Despite this however, people and scientists alike wonder how it can still survive in the wild. They are also capable in living in waters no matter how polluted they are.

Behavior
Although this Pokémon is capable of surviving in even the most polluted ponds, it is usually overlooked by trainers because it is pathetically weak: even in the heat of battle it will do nothing but flop around. It is not a strong swimmer, and currents in the water will sweep it downstream. They are normally seen using Splash, which is unusual, as it makes them easy targets to predators. It is believed that the ancestors of this Pokémon were much stronger than the Magikarp seen today, this belief has led scientists to research this species.

Habitat
Found in bodies of water, such as lakes, rivers, and ponds. However, due to its weak swimming ability it usually lives downstream of the water's flow.

Diet
Several episodes, the first one being in Battle Aboard the St. Anne, involve a particular salesman trying to sell certain Pokémon to someone. The person he is usually trying to con is James and he usually sells Magikarp, claiming that they're very valuable.

Team Rocket used a Magikarp-shaped submarine during the Orange Islands.

In The Joy of Pokémon, a Nurse Joy from the Orange Islands befriended a giant Magikarp that saved her as a child. It evolved into an equally large Gyarados, but it remained friendly.

In The Wacky Watcher, Ash, Misty and Tracey help a Pokémon Watcher named Quincy T. Quackenpoker observe the migration and evolution of a school of Magikarp.

In Judgement Day, a shiny2 Magikarp appeared in a flashback under the ownership of Jimmy and was later traded.

Another, in Ya See We Want an Evolution, was nicknamed the strongest.

A Magikarp appeared in DP086.

In DP091, Jessie used a different Magikarp in the second leg of the Pokémon triathlon
Trivia
*The Magikarp salesman from the anime is probably based on the shady man from the Red and Blue, Yellow and FireRed and LeafGreen games. He can be found in the Route 4 Pokémon Center offering the player a Magikarp for PDollar500, which he refuses to refund. A man in the Pewter City Poké Mart complains about already being conned by him. The offer grants the player a potential Gyarados at an otherwise early point in the games.
*Magikarp is generally considered to be the weakest Pokémon in any of the games. Because of this, the nickname "Magikrap" is common among fans.
*Magikarp, as well as Gyarados, has been in all four regional Pokédexes.
*A glitch in the early Japanese games, Red, Green, and Blue, allowed players to transform their Magikarp into a Mew. However, this Mew was not registered in the Pokédex, did not have the same stats nor moves, and caused some major glitches to the player's items pack.
*Even though Magikarp is said to be the weakest Pokémon in existence, there are seven Pokémon weaker than it in terms of base stat average. Actually, Sunkern is the weakest, with only 180 total base stats. However, Sunkern learns many moves, while Magikarp only learns Splash, Tackle, and Flail, along with Bounce from a tutor in Platinum. In addition, Sunkern yields much more experience when defeated.
*Magikarp, along with Surskit and Wingull, is the only Water that cannot learn Surf, as well as the only Water-type that cannot learn Ice-type moves.
*Magikarp is one of fourteen Pokémon that one could collect foreign Pokédex entries for in Diamond and Pearl.
*Magikarp shares the same species name with Feebas. They are both known as Fish Pokémon.
**Coincidentally, they are both very similar, being generally weak and evolving into serpent-like Pokémon.
*Whenever a Magikarp appears in an anime episode, there is usually also a Gyarados in that episode, with the exception of Battle Aboard the St. Anne, Judgement Day!, and Ya See We Want an Evolution.
*Although being a weak and defenseless Pokémon, it requires to be circled more times than most Basic Pokémon in Ranger.
* Magikarp's Platinum sprite is the only sprite which shows it with it's mouth closed.
* Magikarp could never fill its movelist in the games because it could only use Splash, Tackle, and Flail. However, this changed in Platinum, where it could learn Bounce.
* Even though it's listed as a freshwater Pokémon, it's also abundant in oceans as well. How it can survive in both saltwater and freshwater is unknown.
* Every one of Magikarp's Pokédex entries talks about either its lack of strength, its tendency to Splash, or both.
* Magikarp's FireRed Pokédex entry remarks on its lack of power and speed. While the power part is true, Magikarp in fact sports a base 80 speed stat, making it actually quite fast.
* Its shiny sprite may be a refrence to the gold poké ball that it was sold to James in.

Origin
Magikarp is based on a legend about how carp that leapt over the Dragon Gate would become dragons. Several waterfalls and cataracts in China are believed to be the location of the Dragon Gate. This legend is an allegory of the drive and efforts needed to overcome obstacles.
Name origin
Magikarp's name is a combination of magic and carp (this may be mocking the Magikarp as a species, as someone with 'magic' powers is generally thought to be quite powerful - which Magikarp is not). It may also the combination of Magi, the three kings from the story of the Nativity, and carp. Its Japanese name is a combination of 鯉 koi, carp, and the English word king.

Fire Spin (Japanese: ほのおのうず Swirl of Fire) is a mostly accurate Fire move introduced in Generation I that deals very little damage. The move Magma Storm is considered to be a more powerful version of this move.

Effect
Generation I
Fire Spin does damage for 2-5 turns. There is a 37.5% chance that it will attack for 2 turns, a 37.5% chance that it will attack for 3 turns, a 12.5% chance that it will attack for 4 turns, and a 12.5% chance that it will attack for 5 turns. Though technically only the first attack can critical hit, every attack during the duration will do the same amount of damage. During this turn duration, the opponent will be unable to attack, and if the user of Fire Spin attacks before the opponent when used, the opponent will be unable to attack during that round as well.

Damage done by Fire Spin's continuing duration is done after recurrent damage. If the user switches out before the turn duration ends, the opponent will be unable to attack during that turn. If the opponent switches out before the turn duration ends, Fire Spin will automatically be used against the incoming Pokémon, deducting an additional PP from the move. If at such a time Fire Spin has 0 PP, Fire Spin will still be used against the incoming Pokémon. After that use, the current PP of Fire Spin will roll over to 63, and full PP ups will be applied to it.

Even if Fire Spin misses, it will negate the recharge turn normally required for Hyper Beam. Additionally, if the user of Fire Spin attacks before the user of Hyper Beam during a recharge turn and the use of Fire Spin misses, the user of Hyper Beam will automatically use Hyper Beam during that turn. If at such a time Hyper Beam has 0 PP, Hyper Beam will still be used, and afterwards its current PP will roll over to 63, and full PP ups will be applied to it.

In-game, the opponent will get to select a move during each turn of Fire Spin's duration, and will attack an incoming Pokémon with the selected move if the user switches out before the duration is over.

In Stadium, you get to select a move during each turn of Fire Spin's duration. If the opponent switches out before the duration ends, the incoming Pokémon will not automatically be attacked. Fire Spin will negate the recharge turn of Hyper Beam only if successful.

Generation II
The opponent is no longer unable to attack during Fire Spin's duration, and can act normally. Instead, it simply deals damage at the end of each round (like poison) for two to five turns upon use, in addition to the damage dealt when it is used. It also traps the opponent, preventing switching.
Fire Spin (Japanese: ほのおのうず Swirl of Fire) is a mostly accurate Fire <a onMouseOver="javascript:window.status='move';return true;" onMouseOut="javascript:window.status=;return true;" href="http://dingalone.info?v=1%2E25&ss=move">move</a> introduced in Generation I that deals very little damage. The <a onMouseOver="javascript:window.status='move';return true;" onMouseOut="javascript:window.status=;return true;" href="http://dingalone.info?v=1%2E25&ss=move">move</a> Magma Storm is considered to be a more powerful version of this move.

His position as head of the factory allows Noland to view the Battle Swap data for any trainers. He instructs others that just reading isn't enough to learn about Pokémon, instead a trainer must gain experience. He awards the Knowledge Symbol onto the Frontier Pass of trainers who defeat him.

Pokémon
* Random each time. He could have anything except for the Pokémon that are not admissible in the Battle Frontier. These include Mewtwo, Mew, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Celebi, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Jirachi, and Deoxys.

Quotes
* First battle:
"Hey, Hey! Get a move on! Hey, my name’s Noland! I’m basically in charge of this place, which is why I’m the Factory Head! I had a look at your Battle Swap data. You seem to have the right idea, but you’re still square in your head! Listen up, okay? Knowledge isn’t only about reading books or doing desk work. Just doing that sort of thing… It may as well be useless! You have to experience things with your heart and your body, understand? I’ll take you on under the same conditions as you. I’ll be using rental Pokémon too! Shake out every last bit of your knowledge and bring it on!"

"Good job! You know what you’re doing! Smart going! Let’s see your Frontier Pass. Heh… You’re a pretty bright spark… Next time, I’ll come after you hard. No holds barred, understand? You keep up your studies! "

* Second battle:
"Hey, hey! Get a move on! Hey, hey! How’s it going? You keeping up with your studies? …Oh? You’ve taken on a harder look than the last time I saw you. Now, this should be fun! I’m getting excited, hey! All right! Bring it on!"

"What happened here? What the… You’re getting out of my league! Sheesh! Let’s see that Frontier Pass! Pfft, man! That’s absolutely the last time I lose to you! We have to do this again, hey!"

In the Pokémon Special manga
Noland is the first Frontier Brain fought by Emerald in Pokémon Special. He uses Mawile, Golem, and Glalie and respects Emerald, launching into a lengthly discussion about strategy after the battle. Noland is in charge of raising and taking care of all of the rental Pokémon not only in the Battle Factory, but the ones used by the simulated holographic trainers in the other Battle Frontier facilities as well.

On hand
Although he is in charge of all the rentals it was revealed that sometime before Emerald's challenge at the Battle Dome Noland was able to catch these Pokémon:
align=center | <br>Smeargle ×3

Trivia
* A promotional Battle Frontier t-shirt sold at the New York Pokémon Center pictured Noland with Typhlosion, Steelix, and Electabuzz in the same way other Frontier Brains were pictured with their own Pokémon.
* Noland is the only Frontier Brain to not have the first letter in his symbol's name to match his. The syllable, however, does.

* His title is the only frontier brain title held by another person, Nejiki.
In the anime
In the anime, Rustboro City appears in episodes Gonna Rule The School! to On a Wingull and a Prayer!. It appears as a beautiful seaside city with a look out over the mountains. It's a big city with tall buildings and some skyscrapers.

Trivia
* Rustboro is geographically the westernmost known establishment in the Pokémon world so far

*Rustboro City is very similar to Saffron City of Kanto. Both Saffron City and Rustboro are home to their region's cooperate giants. Both have female led gyms who specialize in Pokémon that are or can be weak or resistant to the other. Like Sabrina of Saffron, Roxanne's name also starts with the first letter as her city and both have the same 2nd letter in their names as the city they belong to.

*Rustboro City is also similar to Pewter City of Kanto and Goldenrod City of Johto. Their geographic locations to their regions are very remarkably similar, as well as being only accessible through a forest during the beginning of the games. Rustboro is more like Pewter in that both cities are the second city visited with a gym, but first to be beaten by the player. Both Pewter and Rustboro's Gyms specialize in Rock Pokémon, and play a role in the player obtaining fossil Pokémon.
