Misty (Japanese: カスミ Kasumi) is a friend and former traveling partner of Ash Ketchum.
Character
A stubborn tomboy, Misty is the youngest of four sisters who live in the Cerulean Gym. Fed up with her more glamorous older sisters, Misty left the gym with the goal of becoming the world's greatest Water Pokémon Trainer. She met Ash when she "caught" him with her fishing line in a river between Pallet Town and Viridian City. She traveled around with Ash, Brock, and Tracey through the Kanto region, Orange Islands, and Johto region.

Her purpose was ostensibly to get Ash to replace her bicycle, which he had accidentally destroyed when they first met. However, Misty often seemed to have forgotten about the bicycle, indicating that her real reason for following along was that she simply wanted to remain with her friends.

During her travels with Ash, she, aside from training to become the best Water Pokémon Trainer, also acted as his coach in many Pokémon battles. She is somewhat considered as a rival to Ash due to their competitive nature. It was also her job to drag Brock away from women by his ear.

Misty can be sweet and optimistic at times, but she is best known for how easily she can be angered or frustrated, and how loud and violent she can become in response. She is very extreme in most of her moods, and can switch between them quickly. There are many episodes where she is seen getting along with the younger siblings of the family, namely Mikey, Sakura, and Max. This stems from the fact that she understands what it's like to be the youngest because she has three older sisters.

Her goals are not as clear as those of the other main characters, since though her main interest is training Water Pokémon, there's many things she loves to do and she is very confident in her abilities in all aspects of life. Fishing is one of her hobbies, however, and she has a special lure which she designed to look like herself and gave to Ash as a gift. The one Pokémon type that Misty cannot stand are Bugs; she tends to freak out in most cases whenever she encounters a Bug-type, which was first demonstrated when she refused to befriend Ash's Caterpie. However, bugs are only one of three things Misty strongly dislikes, the other two being carrots and peppers. The only Bug-type Pokémon Misty is not afraid of are Tracey's Venonat, Ash's Heracross, Brock's Pineco, and Ledyba.

Misty participated in the Whirl Cup alongside Ash from Octillery the Outcast to The Perfect Match. She defeated Ash in battle in the second round. Misty made it all the way to the best eight of the Whirl Cup, but narrowly lost to Trinity in the end.

After Ash competed in the Johto League Silver Conference, however, her bicycle was repaired and returned to her by the Viridian City Nurse Joy. Misty was shown to be sad that she no longer had the convenient excuse to travel with Ash, especially when she saw that Ash hadn't learned that and had assumed she followed him because of her bike. In addition, her sisters Daisy, Lily, and Violet, called Misty at this time to tell her they were going on a world tour, and needed her to return to Cerulean and watch the Gym in their absence. However, Misty saw how Ash truly cared for her when he saved her from a trio of Pokémon gangsters. Misty wanted to stay with Ash, but felt it was her responsibility to take over the Gym, which would be shut down if left unattended.

Upon the return of her sisters, Misty remained the sole Cerulean Gym Leader. Since their return, only Daisy appears to spend any significant amount of time at the Gym.

While working in the gym, Misty sometimes receives help from Tracey when he is either visiting or running an errand for Professor Oak.

Misty reappeared from The Princess and the Togepi to A Togepi Mirage! where she meets up with Ash and Brock again, along with meeting May and Max for the first time. During the episode A Togepi Mirage, her Togepi evolves into a Togetic and helps defend the Togepi Paradise. Towards the end of the episode, Togetic decides to stay with the other Togepi to protect them, sharing one last tearful moment with Misty. She makes three more appearances in the Advanced Generation from The Scheme Team to A Real Cleffa-Hanger.

Appearance
Misty's usual hairstyle is a side ponytail which sticks out on the left side of her head. There are times she has let her hair down, sometimes when she goes to sleep. She has also been shown wearing hair extensions when she wore her mermaid costumes in the The Misty Mermaid and Cerulean Blues. Misty is also notably taller than Ash but shorter than Brock. She has worn three main outfits in the series and all of them sport the colors yellow, blue, and red.

Pokémon
Either through the tradition of her family's gym or merely her love of them, Misty prefers to train Water Pokémon. She usually bases her choice of Pokémon to train by looks, preferring Pokémon that she thinks of as "cute" over ones that she thinks are "ugly," but is willing to overcome such differences. Her love of water Pokémon stems from the fact that they are extremely flexible in battle, meaning that they can easily adapt to the opponent, as she stated in Some Like It Hot. Since becoming gym leader, she has overcome her fear of Gyarados and continues to learn more about caring and battling with water Pokémon as challengers come to the Cerulean Gym.

This is a listing of Misty's Pokémon as of the most recent Japanese episode. As she is currently residing in the Cerulean Gym, all of her Pokémon are there and none are listed as "on hand."
Future appearances
Former director and storyboard artist of the Pokémon anime, Masamitsu Hidaka, stated in an interview that Misty will not return as a main character in future seasons, but she will continue to make cameo appearances from time to time like she has in the past. He also mentioned Contests in connection with Misty, although the translator neglected to mention what was meant by this.

Misty's seiyū, Mayumi Iizuka, has hinted in her blog that Misty will make an appearance in the Diamond & Pearl . However, she did not appear at all.

In the manga
In The Electric Tale of Pikachu manga
Misty is a recurring character in The Electric Tale of Pikachu, a manga series based on the Pokémon anime.

She first appears in the chapter Pikachu, I See You. She takes a liking to Ash's Pikachu and tells Ash about what it takes to be a professional Pokémon Trainer. Ash steals her bicycle later to rush Pikachu to a Pokémon Center after being injured by a flock of Spearow.

She travels with Ash for the following chapter, Play Misty For Me, expecting Ash to repay her for her bike. Later in the same chapter, when Ash arrives in Cerulean City, he battles her instead of the Sensational Sisters. Misty awards Ash the Cascade when his Fearow takes back his hat from Misty's head.

Misty disappears from the manga until Ash and Brock bump into her at the Nomads Independence Day festival in The Human Race and the Pokémon Race. After this, she is a common traveling companion to Ash and Brock, though they still part ways at times, such as when Misty and Duplica search for wild Ditto in Pikachu's Excellent Adventure.

In the Magical Pokémon Journey manga
Misty, along with Ash and Brock, make cameo appearances in bonus chapters of the Magical Pokémon Journey manga. In the bonus chapters, Misty and co. have mistakenly wandered into the world Magical Pokémon Journey is set in. The bonus chapters chronicle their attempts to return to their own world (of the anime) and their encounters with various aspects of the Magical Pokémon Journey canon which differ from the anime's canon (such as the use of Poké Balls).

Trivia
* Misty is the only one of the main characters to have a Pokémon along with its evolved form on her team at the same time.
* Misty is the only one of Ash's friends to have a Psychic-type Pokémon.
* Misty is one of only two main characters that has no parent revealed, the other being Tracey.
* Only two of Misty's Pokémon are not Water: Misty and Misty, though Azurill can Marill later.
** Also both of these Pokémon are Normal.
*** Also both were hatched from eggs she got from other main characters and debuted in a different generation from their fully evolved forms.
* Misty is the first of Ash's friends to challenge a gym (albeit an unofficial gym), since she challenged and won against the unofficial Johto Water Gym Leader in Just Add Water.
* She is the only main character to have genderless Pokémon in her team. In fact, she has two, Misty and Misty.
* She is the only female companion of Ash who did not start off as a rookie. She is also considered as a rival by Ash and acts as his coach during Pokémon battles. Unlike Dawn and May, who are Pokémon Coordinators, Misty focuses on being a Water Pokémon Trainer.
* She is the first main character to be seen owning a Generation II Pokémon, that Pokémon being Togepi.

* Misty is the only one of her sisters not named after a flower, the names of her sisters being Daisy, Violet, and Lily. However, she does have the name for baby's breath in Japanese.
* She is the only one of Ash's female traveling friends to not own a starter Pokémon. She battled Ash for a Totodile in The Totodile Duel, but lost.
*During the fifth movie, it is revealed that she likes pistachio flavored ice cream.
*It is revealed in No Big Woop! that when Misty was young, she played the tambourine.
*In Cerulean Blues Misty said that her fear of Gyarados came about when she was nearly eaten by one when she was a baby.
*Diamond and Pearl is the only series where Misty has not physically appeared.
According to the original instruction manual from my Pokemon Blue, page 33 contains a Type Chart that lists Ghost-Type attacks as super effective against Psychic-Type pokemon, not ineffective. While Generation I contained 2 Ghost-Type attacks (Night Shade and Confuse Ray; Lick was normal), neither of them were direct attacks and could not be super effective. However, upon investigation, Agatha's Gengar was indeed able to Night Shade my Kadabra for the full 56 damage. I don't see any Seismic Tosses hitting my Gengar. How can people say Psychic-Types were immune to Ghost-Types?

While the chart does list some oddities (Water being resisted by Electric, and using Poor to describe immunities while Bad is used for resistance), I think it's safe to say it's correct about this. --ZellMurasame 05:49, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
Physiology
A Garchomp is a fierce and predatorial dragon, known for its scales that have medicinal properties that can heal most illnesses.

Garchomp are dark blue, with a red underbelly that covers from the middle of its abdomen, to its jaws, and then to the undersides of its arms. Underneath the red is a gold diamond shape as well a gold cross on its snout; which gives Garchomp a close resemblance to Sharpedo. Garchomp have appendages that resemble jets, planes and hammerhead sharks; its four fins, one on each arm, one dorsal fin and another on its tail that resembles a shark tailfin; horns that resemble jet/plane engines rest on its head, resembling a hammerhead. It has spikes on its hind limbs and arms as well as sharper claws than its previous evolution. It's eyes have black retinas and gold (color) colored iris'. Its pupils have shrunk.

Gender differences
A male has a cut on his dorsal fin, while the female does not. This may signify that male Garchomp fight more, leaving scars.

Special abilities
Though Garchomp is not able to learn the move Fly, and cannot possess Levitate it can still fly at an incredible speed to catch its prey.

Behavior
Gabite has a habit of digging up gems and hoarding them in its nest, whitch may be a reference to the fictional dragon Smaug. It is also known to be very tempermental and violent.

Habitat
Judging from its classification, it likely lives in warm caves much like its pre-evolution, Gible.
Trivia
*Garchomp has the second highest base stat average of all non-legendary Pokémon, the first being Slaking. However, it is tied with the four other powerhouse evolutions. Garchomp is also tied with many other legendaries for base stat average, including Mew, Celebi, Deoxys, Latios and Latias.
*Though its Pokédex entries make note of its astounding flying abilities, Garchomp cannot learn Fly. Similarly, though known as the Mach Pokémon, it cannot learn Mach Punch or any other variation of Quick Attack, including Quick Attack itself, in general.
*Of the pseudo-legendary Pokémon, Garchomp has the lowest Attack stat. Because of this, it is also the only pseudo-legendary Pokémon whose Attack stat cannot exceed 400 at Level 100, with a maximum of only 394.
*According to the new Pokemon Tier list (updated September 2008), Garchomp is considered an Uber, joining Wobbuffet as the only 2 non-legendaries to be considered Uber in competitive battles.

Origin
Appearance-wise, Garchomp seems like a cross between a European dragon and a hammerhead shark. It may have the genuine apperance of a land shark. It also seems to have the appearence of a jet.
Name origin
Its English name clearly comes from chomp. The Japanese name may come from がぶがぶ gabugabu, the sound of gobbling or gulping down, がぶりと gaburito, bite or chew, or がぶりと噛み付く gaburitokamitsuku, sink one's teeth into, and アース āsu, Soil.

Its German name, Knakrack, comes from knackig and Krach. Its French name, Carchacrok, comes from Carcharodon, scientific name of sharks, and croquer.
It means that you've triumphed over any personal weaknesses, too. The power you learned... I can feel it emanating from you. That's enough talking. Let's get on with why you're here. I, Cynthia, accept your challenge as the Pokémon League Champion! There won't be any letup from me!"
"Have you been keeping well? Thank you for Mt. Coronet. I'm truly grateful. Together, you and your Pokémon overcame all the challenges you faced, however difficult. It means that you've triumphed over any personal weaknesses, too. The power you learned... I can feel it emanating from you. But that's enough talk. Let's get on with why you're here. As the Pokémon League Champion, I accept your challenge!"
"I won't let this end yet! This match is too fun to let it end this easily!"

When defeated:<br>
"Just a few moments ago, you were the most powerful challenger. And just now, you became the most powerful of all the Trainers. You are now our newest Champion!
Trivia
Alongside with its evolution Abomasnow, Snover has the most weaknesses in the game, with 7 types super-effective against it.
Origin
Snover appears to have been based on the daikon radish, also known as the winter radish, which are traditionally harvested and eaten during the winter. It's also possible that Snover was made to resemble a snow-covered fir tree. Its 'hat' resembles three mountain peaks.
Name origin
Snover may be derived from "snow" and "clover".

Yukikabli's name comes the Japanese words yuki (snow) and kaburi (head). Alternatively, kabu is Japanese for turnip. The bli part of its name may come from blizzard.
Abomasnow (Japanese: ユキノオー Yukinooh) is a Grass/Ice-type Pokémon.

Biology
Physiology
Abomasnow is a large, white creature covered in thick, white fur. Abomasnow's feet and hands are dark-green. It has a short, dark-green tail. Abomasnow has four green spikes on its back that resemble mountains instead of only having two; like it's pre-evolution. Abomasnow appears to have a bushy moustache covering its mouth, light-purple eyes and and large, bushy eyebrows that stick out like antenna.

Gender differences
The fur on a female's chest is thicker than a male's.

Special abilities
Abomasnow have the ability to sense snow from miles away. Not only can they sense it but when Abomasnow get too angry or form in packs, they have the ability to create high and low pressure in the air resulting in small snow storms. Also, Abomasnow's feet allow them to clutch into the ground making it so some of the harshest winds can not blow this Pokémon down.

Behavior
Abomasnow is a tad short tempered. They can get very territorial and because of this, they live spaced out high atop cold and icey mountain caps so that they can have their space. They are also very stiff Pokémon both mentally and physically. Because of this, they are sometimes hard to manage.

Habitat
Abomasnow dwell on snowy mountaintops.
Wynaut first appeared in Camp Pikachu. This Bright Pokémon helped Pikachu and co. help the Pichu Brothers get to the next train to Big Town.

Wynaut also appeared during the Blackthorn City arc (Beauty is Skin Deep - Why? Wynaut!), But Jessie's Wobbuffet, Ash's Bayleef and Ash's Noctowl were the only ones to see it.

In Who, What, When, Where, Wynaut?, a plan of Team Rocket's backfires and sends everyone to Mirage Island. The only inhabitants of this island are none other than Wynaut, though it wasn't seen by any of the human characters other than May and Drew.
Trivia
*Wynaut is the baby Pokémon that evolves by level the earliest, at 15, while most other baby Pokémon that evolve by level all evolve at level 30.
*By appearing on Mirage Island in Generation III, Wynaut is the first baby Pokémon found in the wild in the games, while the others later would do the same in Generation IV.
*Wynaut is the one of the two non-legendary Pokémon to be considered "uber" in the metagame due to its ability and non-offensive movesets. A Mirror Match or a Wynaut Vs. Wobbuffet in a 1-on-1 battle can instantly lock the game for more than 70 turns or permanently if both Pokemon are equipped with Leftovers.
Origin
Name origin
Wynaut's name is pronounced identically to phrase "why not?" Its Japanese name is almost homophonous<!-- tone is different --> with the word そうなの sō na no, which means "really?" The French name seems to be based on a repitition of "Okay." The German name may be a corruption of "It's so."

Its name, when paired with the Japanese name of its evolution, Wobbuffet, ソーナンス Sonans, makes for a potential perpetual conversation of "really?" followed by "that's the way it is," and so on, as seen in Camp Pikachu.
Wobbuffet (Japanese: ソーナンス Sonans) is a Psychic-type Pokémon.
When released from a Pokéball, Wobbuffet will stand on the stage in one place. Anyone attacking or running into it will be damaged by its Counter, including the player who threw the Pokéball.

Wobbuffet is also a Pokéfloat. It appears on its side and never fully reveals itself. When it first appears, it will quickly return off-screen but will then come back and remain to allow for fighting to take place on top of it.

Trophy information
A Patient Pokémon, Wobbuffet lives in darkness to hide its mismatched black tail. Even for a stoic Pokémon, this creature is a testament to self-control; it will not actively attack an opponent. Its Counter and Mirror Coat moves are solely used for reflecting attacks directly back at its antagonist.
Trivia
*Its name, when paired with the Japanese name of its pre-evolution, Wynaut, ソーナノ Sohnano, makes for a potential perpetual conversation of "that's the way it is" followed by "really?", and so on, as seen in Camp Pikachu.
*Wobbuffet is the one of the two non-legendary Pokémon to be considered "uber" in the metagame due to its HP stat, attacks, and ability overcentralizing the game completely. All its trainer needs to do when using Wobbuffet is predict whether the opponent's next attack will be physical or special to deal double damage. They can also use Encore and instantly apply the previous move. In addition, because of its ability, a Mirror Match or a Wynaut Vs. Wobbuffet in a 1-on-1 battle can instantly lock the game for more than 70 turns or permanently if both Pokemon are equipped with Leftovers.

Origin
It is based on the late Japanese comedian 林家三平 Sanpei Hayashiya, who was famous for repeatedly touching his hand to his forehead while saying one of his trademark lines, そうなんす、奥さん sō na-n-su, okusan, "That's the way it is, ma'am."

In addition, its form and available moves are based on a punching bag; that is, when it is hit, it bounces back.

Name origin
Wobbuffet's name is a combination of wobble and buffet, meaning to strike repeatedly, possibly referring to its action of slapping its own forehead. Its Japanese name is homophonous with the interjection そうなんす sō na-n-su, which roughly means "that's the way it is."
