If you have a Pikachu in the party, and you are that Pikachu's original trainer, then there will be a Pikachu following you. Is the Pikachu's gender always the same whenever you trade it to a 2nd generation game? Lovely Rose 17:38, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

:The gender is pre-set when you get the Pikachu. However, trading to a Generation II handheld game or viewing the Pokémon's info in Stadium 2 is necessary to see the gender, and the gender ratios do hold true even for the starter Pikachu in Yellow. The gender'll always remain the same as it was set no matter how many times it gets transferred between game paks, just like any other Pokémon. Although I've had it male most of the time, I've gotten it female at least once myself. I guess you can say that the Yellow version of the game gets thrown out the window if one's trying to prove Ash's Pikachu's gender in the anime (the game can't be considered evidence either way)...--Shiningpikablu252 17:48, 14 February 2009 (UTC)
