Pain Split (Japanese: いたみわけ 痛み分け) is a non-damaging Normal move introduced in Generation II. Prior to Generation IV, it was the signature move of Misdreavus, but other Pokémon could still inherit it via breeding. It is TM202 in Generation IX.

Effect
Generation II
Pain Split adds the current HP of the user and target Pokémon. It then divides this value by two, rounds down if necessary, and increases or decreases the HP of each Pokémon to become equal to the result (limited by each Pokémon's maximum HP). This setting of HP is not subject to effects such as Counter or Bide. Pain Split does not employ Type, so it can also affect Ghost Pokémon.

Pain Split has an accuracy of 100.

Pain Split fails if the target is behind a substitute.

Generation III
Pain Split now bypasses accuracy checks to always hit, unless the target is in the semi-invulnerable turn of a move such as Dig or Fly.

In Generation III only, a loss of HP due to Pain Split contributes to the accumulated damage of Bide; it still is not subject to other effects such as Counter.

Pain Split can be used as the second move of a Pokémon Contest combination, with the user gaining 1 bonus appeal point if Endure was used in the previous turn.

Generation IV onwards
Pain Split can no longer contribute to the accumulated damage of Bide.

It is also part of a Contest Spectacular combination and will give an extra three appeal points if the move Endure was used in the prior turn.

If powered up by a Normalium Z into Z-Pain Split, the user's Defense stat rises by one stage.

Generation VIII
Pain Split averages the two Pokémon's non-Dynamax HP, calculates the signed difference between that average and each Pokémon's non-Dynamax HP, then changes each Pokémon's HP by that signed difference.

UNITE
In Pokémon UNITE, Pain Split is Trevenant's first move. It is obtained by reaching level 7 and upgrading Branch Poke into it instead of Horn Leech. The user creates a link between them and a designated enemy for 6s. While the link holds, a portion of the damage the user receives is redirected to the linked enemy. The lower the user's remaining HP, the greater the percentage of damage that is redirected. Additionally, if the user's percentage of remaining HP is lower than the linked enemy, this move continuously deals damage and recovers the user's HP equal to the damage dealt every .5s. If the user and the linked enemy are too far apart, the link will disappear. Using this move increases the user's movement speed for a short time. At level 13, the link's duration is increased to 8.5s.
Razor Wind (Japanese: かまいたち Kamaitachi) is a damage-dealing Normal move introduced in Generation I. It was TM02 in Generation I.

Effect
Generation I
Razor Wind does nothing on the turn it is selected, other than saying "<Pokémon> made a whirlwind!". On the following turn, Razor Wind inflicts damage, PP is deducted, and it will count as the last move used. Once Razor Wind is selected, the user will be unable to switch out until Razor Wind has been disrupted or fully executed. Razor Wind has 75% accuracy.

If Razor Wind is not fully executed, PP will not be deducted, and it will not count as the last move used. If the target uses Mirror Move during the turn that the user creates a whirlwind, Mirror Move will copy the move that the user executed immediately before using Razor Wind (or fail if it cannot).

Sleep, freeze, binding, and flinching will pause but not disrupt the duration of Razor Wind.

In Pokémon Stadium, Mirror Move will copy Razor Wind on either of the turns it takes to execute.

Generation II
Razor Wind now has an increased critical hit ratio.

If Razor Wind is disrupted from succeeding due to conditions such as flinching, paralysis, confusion, or sleep, the entire move will now be cancelled rather than simply paused.

Generation III
Razor Wind now has an accuracy of 100%. It has no increased critical hit ratio<!--not even in FRLG, despite the in-game text-->. The charging turn now says "<Pokémon> whipped up a whirlwind!"

In battles with multiple opponents, it targets all adjacent opponents.

Generation IV to VII
Razor Wind again has an increased critical hit ratio.

If a Power Herb is held by the user, Razor Wind can be executed in one turn.

Generation VIII onwards
Razor Wind cannot be selected in a battle.
The user gains the Status condition (Mystery Dungeon) status for one turn, and then unleashes the move the next turn. In the Rescue Team, Explorers and Adventure Squad series, the move's damage is doubled at the end of damage calculation. This move has an increased critical hit ratio (50% in the Rescue Team series, 30% in the Explorers and Adventure Squad series).

Due to it being a two-turn move, this move cannot be linked. Razor Wind cannot be used in a Pokémon Tower in the Adventure Squad series.
Trivia
* In , Razor Wind's in-game description states it has an increased critical hit ratio. However, Razor Wind does not have an increased critical hit ratio in Generation III.
* Despite being introduced in Generation I, no Pokémon could learn it by leveling up until Generation III.
** No Pokémon are able to learn Razor Wind in Generation II without the player trading with a Generation I game first.
* Razor Wind has the lowest index number of all special moves.
* The Japanese name of the move, Kamaitachi, is a direct reference to the Japanese yōkai of the same name. Kamaitachi is a weasel that is depicted with sharp claws, riding on a gust of wind and cutting people's skin on the legs.
** Despite Sneasel being based on it, it cannot learn Razor Wind.
* Razor Wind is one of the two moves with a charging turn that cannot be used in Generation VIII, the other being Sky Drop.
The Psychic Seed (Japanese: サイコシード Psycho Seed) is a type of consumable held item introduced in Generation VII. It boosts the holder's Special Defense in Psychic Terrain.

Effect
If a Pokémon is holding a Psychic Seed while the field is Psychic Terrain, it consumes the Psychic Seed and its Special Defense is increased by one stage. The Psychic Seed is consumed even if the holder is not otherwise affected by the terrain (i.e. it is not grounded or in the semi-invulnerable turn of a move). It is not consumed if the holder already has +6 Special Defense stat stages (unless its Ability is Contrary, in which case it will not activate if the holder has −6 Special Defense stat stages).

If the terrain is changed to Psychic Terrain by Psychic Surge, then immediately changed by another Abilities with effects on terrain, the Seed is consumed before the other Ability activates; however, if a Pokémon that holds a Psychic Seed and has a terrain-changing Ability is switched in during Psychic Terrain, its Ability activates before its held Seed can. Magic Room and Embargo fade before terrain does, so if Psychic Terrain would dissipate on the same turn as Magic Room or Embargo, the Seed will activate before the terrain dissipates. If multiple Pokémon each hold a Psychic Seed when the field becomes Psychic Terrain, each Pokémon will consume the Psychic Seed before Symbiosis transfers any item (including Psychic Seeds).

If a held Psychic Seed did not activate because its holder's Special Defense is already at +6 (or −6 in the case of Contrary), it will not activate for its current holder until after the terrain is changed, the holder switches out, or its holder (or its holder's Substitute) loses health.

Generation IX
In Generation IX, the Psychic Seed returns to the holder after the battle if it was used.

Effect
If a Pokémon is holding an Grassy Seed while the field is Grassy Terrain, it consumes the Grassy Seed and its Defense is increased by one stage. The Grassy Seed is consumed even if the holder is not otherwise affected by the terrain (i.e. it is not grounded or in the semi-invulnerable turn of a move). It is not consumed if the holder already has +6 Defense stat stages (unless its Ability is Contrary, in which case it will not activate if the holder has -6 Defense stat stages).

If the terrain is changed to Grassy Terrain by Grassy Surge, then immediately changed by another Abilities with effects on terrain, the Seed is consumed before the other Ability activates; however, if a Pokémon that holds a Grassy Seed and has a terrain-changing Ability is switched in during Grassy Terrain, its Ability activates before its held Seed can. Magic Room and Embargo fade before terrain does, so if Grassy Terrain would dissipate on the same turn as Magic Room or Embargo, the Seed will activate before the terrain dissipates. If multiple Pokémon each hold an Grassy Seed when the field becomes Grassy Terrain, each Pokémon will consume the Grassy Seed before Symbiosis transfers any item (including Grassy Seeds).

If a held Grassy Seed did not activate because its holder's Defense is already at +6 (or -6 in the case of Contrary), it will not activate for its current holder until after the terrain is changed, the holder switches out, or its holder (or its holder's Substitute) loses health.

TonySnax: I tested Bide, Focus Punch, and Solar Beam in Gen 5 and the Gem was never consumed until right before the Pokémon holding the Gem did damage.

items in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon For the premium currency in Pokémon Duel, see Gem (Duel). For the currency in Pokémon Masters EX, see Gem (Masters).
Gems (Japanese: ジュエル Jewel) are a group of held items introduced in Generation V. There are 18 types of gems, corresponding to each of the 18 types. One time only, a held Gem boosts the power of the holder's damaging move of the corresponding type.

Mechanics
If a Pokémon holding a Gem uses a damaging move of the corresponding type, that move's power is boosted by 30% (50% in Generation V). This consumes the Gem.

The Gem will not be consumed if the attack misses or fails.

If the type of a move is changed with Normalize, Pixilate, Refrigerate, Aerilate, Ion Deluge, or Electrify, the Gem must match the type of the move after it has been modified. Moves that call other moves will only consume a Gem if the called move is of the appropriate type for the Gem. Hidden Power and Weather Ball can consume Gems, but only if the type of the Gem matches the type of damage that will be dealt.

Judgment and Techno Blast can consume Normal Gems, but will be Normal-type for that execution even if the Pokémon is given a Plate or Drive by Symbiosis upon consuming the Gem. If a Pokémon consumes a Gem for an attack and is immediately given another of the same Gem by Symbiosis, that Gem will not be consumed for that attack; if a Pokémon consumes a Power Herb using a damaging move and is immediately given a Gem of the appropriate type, that Gem will be consumed for that attack.

Fixed-damage moves (such as Dragon Rage, Counter, and Endeavor) will consume Gems but will not have their damage modified. Present consumes a Gem even if it heals the target, but the amount healed is unaffected. Fling fails if the user is holding a Gem. OHKO moves, Struggle, Grass Pledge, Water Pledge, and Fire Pledge will never consume a Gem.

Acquisition
In Pokémon Black, White, Black 2, and White 2, all of the 17 existing Gems can be found in Phenomenons. In Pokémon Black 2 and White 2, every Gem can also be found in a location in the overworld in addition to dust clouds.

From Generation VI onward, only the Normal Gem is obtainable in the core series games. Though the Fairy Gem was introduced in Generation VI, it has never been obtainable in any game; it has only ever appeared as unused game data. A Gem for the Stellar type does not exist.
