Unbeatable is the opening theme song for the English dub of the eighth season, Pokémon: Advanced Battle. It was used from Clamperl of Wisdom to Pasta La Vista!, as well as in Lucario and the Mystery of Mew.

The opening animation is composed of clips from the eighth and ninth Japanese openings, Pokémon Symphonic Medley and Battle Frontier. It was written and produced by John Siegler and David Rolfe.
* The capture of Misty's Azurill.
* The capture of James's Mime Jr.

Variants
# Clamperl of Wisdom - Solid as a Solrock: The original animation.
# Vanity Affair - Pasta la Vista!: James and Weavile are removed from TRT's scene; the shot of Lucario and Mew is replaced with a clip of Pikachu using Iron Tail.

This is the first dub opening to have a running change to it as its tenure progressed. The reason for this is that the inclusion of animation from the Japanese opening revealed three new Pokémon to western audiences: Mime Jr., Weavile and Lucario. The former two did not even have official English names yet at the time, while on top of that, Mime Jr. was not captured by James until the following season.

Mime Jr. is simply painted out of the scene. Weavile, on the other hand, is removed by replacing the frames in which it appears with others from the same sequence, thus slightly changing the way Team Rocket dances. A particular frame, however, was created from scratch by mixing three different shots (the original one, plus one for Wobbuffet and one for James's upper body, as both of them were obscured by Weavile in the original), as shown below.
Trivia
* This opening has the most Pokémon species in it, with 72.
** Also, this opening has the most Pokémon in it, counting the same species. The scenes featuring wild Pokémon in their natural habitats feature roughly 1,000 of them.
** This opening also has almost every Legendary Pokémon released up to Generation III, excluding only Lugia.
* The closing credits feature a shot of Zapdos and Moltres flying past Ash, which is not present in the opening credits.
* This is the first opening to feature Pokémon that had not yet been revealed outside of Japan.
* This opening features the Battle Frontier symbol along with the Frontier Brains, all of whom are shown as shadows with the exception of Noland. This is because it uses footage from the first variant of Battle Frontier, which had the Frontier Brains revealed in the sequence as they debuted in the episodes themselves.
** Coincidentally, Noland is the only Frontier Brain to appear in Advanced Battle, while the others did not appear until the next season.
* The first version of the dub opening was the first one not to use any episode clips.
* Pokémon TV still features Lucario and Mew in the opening of every episode as Pikachu using Iron Tail was shown a split second.
* Ash's Corphish's orange Bubble Beam effect was shown in the intro, but doesn't happened in every episode until the following season.
* A karaoke version of the song was released on the Germany Anime Hits 5 (CD) CD.
* This is the last dub opening theme song to have a runtime of 1 minute in its TV version.
Errors
*During the scenes with the individual Frontier Brains, Lucy's shadow can be seen for a split second before Spenser's shadow, after Lucy had already appeared.
Aim to Be a Pokémon Master (Japanese: めざせポケモンマスター Mezase Pokémon Master) is the first Japanese opening theme of the original series, with a cover by Whiteberry being the fourth. An arrangement made to commemorate the 20th anniversary of PTS replaced Alola!! as the second opening theme of SM. Another arrangement made to commemorate the series's 25th anniversary titled Aim to Be a Pokémon Master -with my friends- (Japanese: めざせポケモンマスター -with my friends- Mezase Pokémon Master -with my friends-) replaced One, Two, Three as the second and final opening theme of JN.

A verse from this song was featured in the third opening theme of RS, Pokémon Symphonic Medley, and a synthesized version was used during captures and Evolutions in Pokémon Pinball. It is also one of the songs featured in the Japan-exclusive game Donkey Konga 3.

Versions
Aim to Be a Pokémon Master is the most re-used theme song in the history of PTS, having no fewer than ten versions including the original:
Synopsis
The type symbols appear in a circle, and the series logo appears on the screen. The three fully evolved Kanto first partner Pokémon, Pikachu, Ash, and an unnamed Lass are seen. This is followed by three scenes showing random Generation I Pokémon.

Ash is then seen with a Poké Ball. After that, he is riding on the back of a Lapras with Pikachu while a Gyarados and Dragonair are seen jumping out and in the water. Next, Ash and Pikachu are looking at Pallet Town. It cuts to a scene with them walking, and then Ash throws a Poké Ball with a Pidgeot inside. The Pokémon then begins battling with a Fearow.

Ash appears looking at the screen, when Misty and Brock appear on either side of him. This is followed by Jessie and James rising up in front of them. James, MTR, and Jessie jump up next, followed by Gary holding a Poké Ball. Ash and ashfr are seen running from the rain. This is followed by a short clip of Nurse Joy, Professor Oak, Officer Jenny and Delia Ketchum.

The next scene shows Ash and his friends in Viridian Forest. Then, Ash and Pikachu are seen running with an Arcanine and a Rapidash. The latter Pokémon jumps up, and the three legendary birds are seen flying in the sky. A clip of Mewtwo and Mew in space is shown, followed by Ash in a stadium holding a Poké Ball. His friends appear with him.
Variants
#EP001 - EP002: The original animation. During the Pokémon images scene, there's a picture of a Kadabra, but it reads "Alakazam" on it.
#EP003: The Kadabra error is corrected, and an actual Alakazam picture is put in its place.
#EP004 - EP038: The Type symbol background keeps rotating after the "Pocket Monsters" logo appears in the title screen, and after the executive production credits appear on the final shot.
#EP039 - EP080: After the "Pokémon Shock" incident of EP038, the opening was changed to be broken up into four images per screen. This change was also applied to reruns of the first 37 episodes.
#EP039 - EP080: A shot where Ash throws a Poké Ball is slowed down, removing part of the scene where the spinning Poké Ball covers the entire screen, and Ash holding another one was edited to remove one frame where it glows over the entire screen. Two frames were also removed from the battle between Ash's Pidgeot and Fearow. Several frames were removed from the scene starring Zapdos.

In reruns (including on Kids Station and in Pocket Monsters Premier 10), the fifth variant with a CGI-animated title screen is used for all episodes from EP001 to EP080.
Trivia
* The battle between Ash's Pidgeot and the Fearow is a parallel of Pallet Party Panic, the first episode in which the following opening was used. Ash's Pidgeotto did not become Pidgeot until that episode.
* The elemental logos shown before and during the title logo animation are the symbols for the seven Type at the time.
* The song can be heard in the instrumental version of High Touch!.
* The image of Porygon was interestingly not removed after the EP038 incident.
* At one point of The Road to Humilau!, Ash and Cameron hum this theme in the Japanese version. However, it was not kept in the English dub.
* Both １・２・３ and XY&Z take a line from this song.
* An instrumental version of the original version of this song appears in both the Japanese and English versions of Pokémon Pinball when the player is attempting to catch or evolve a Pokémon.
* A scene in which Ash stands in a stadium was used as part of a bumper with Brock's voice saying "We'll Be Back After These Messages!" when the 4Kids dub was first aired in syndication in 1998 in America.
* A mashup of this and the first English opening titled Pokémon Mezase Catch 'em All was posted on the official English and Japanese YouTube channels on March 10, 2023.

Errors
* When MTR, Ekans, and Koffing jump onscreen, Meowth's right fang disappears for a split second.
* When Ash and ashfr are running from the rain, Poliwrath's eyelid is white instead of blue.
Synopsis
Ash is holding a Poké Ball, then throws it across an open field. The Poké Ball opens, transitioning to the series logo followed by Pikachu fighting a Tyranitar. Pikachu dodges the Tyranitar's Hyper Beam and uses Thunderbolt. Ash and his friends are then seen jumping into the water. Various Pokémon are seen swimming by, such as Mantine, Lanturn, Lapras, and Lugia. Ash turns his hat and holds a Poké Ball towards the screen, while the camera turns towards his side view.

Ash and Pikachu are running across a field with a Ho-Oh flying in the background. He then looks at a stadium and clips of his Pokémon attacking appear on the screen: Cyndaquil uses Flamethrower, Totodile uses Water Gun, Bayleef uses Razor Leaf, and Noctowl uses Foresight. Then, Ash and his friends have a view of the city.

The legendary beasts are seen using attacks: Entei uses Flamethrower, Raikou uses Thunder, and Suicune uses Thunder. Celebi flies in front of the legendary beasts. Mewtwo is then seen in a city looking towards the moon, with Mew flying in front of it.

Ash and the others are then shown walking into a cave where Crobat and Misdreavus appear. Ash and the others stand at a bridge with Hoppip floating above them. Then, the Pichu Brothers are shown running below the bridge. After that, a scene of Ash chasing after his Pokémon is shown, followed by TRT chasing after Ash and his friends, and finally, Ash and his friends chasing after Team Rocket with Misty using Metronome in front.

Igglybuff, Smoochum, Magby, and Cleffa appear with Nurse Joy, Delia Ketchum, Tracey, Professor Oak, and Officer Jenny behind them. Larvitar then appears in front of all of them. Ash and Pikachu are then seen running up a flight of stairs in space together with the legendary birds. They reach a colosseum, where Ash and Pikachu stand confidently in front of many Pokémon. Ash makes a valiant gesture towards the sky while Pikachu jumps happily. The camera zooms out to show Ash with his friends and Pokémon.
Trivia
* The fact that this, the fourth Japanese opening, is a cover of the first one is mimicked in the English dub, where Born to Be a Winner, the fourth opening, borrows heavily from the first one.
* This is the first Japanese opening theme to not be performed by Rica Matsumoto.
* This is the only version of Aim to Be a Pokémon Master to not be performed by Rica Matsumoto.
# SM030 - SM037: The original animation.
# SM038 - SM043: The clip of Olivia is cut short to show Ash using Continental Crush with Lycanroc.

Trivia
* This is the first Japanese opening to be made up almost entirely of episode clips.
* Prior to Pokémon Horizons: The Series, this is the only Japanese opening featuring humans in which TRT does not appear.
Trivia
* This version of the opening features the first appearance of Ash-Greninja outside of Pokémon the Series: XY. Prior to this point, all of Greninja's appearances in Pokémon Journeys: The Series depicted its basic form, even in flashbacks to scenes which originally featured Ash-Greninja.
* This is the first opening animation since High Touch! to feature all of Ash's traveling companions up to this point.
* This is the only opening to feature Cilan and Serena since their respective departures at the end of Pokémon the Series: Black & White and Pokémon the Series: XY respectively.
* This is the last opening to be composed by Hirokazu Tanaka.
* The Pokémon that appear during なかなか　なかなか なかなか　なかなか　大変だけど lines appear in the order in which they were caught, with the exception of the Pokémon in the JN138 variant, as Mimey and Muk are the first two shown while Kingler was caught before them.

Errors
* In JN142, Gible lacks the notch on his fin that signifies his male gender.
Lyrics
The lyrics for all versions of the song are identical with the exception of formatting, backup singers, and the ad-libs shown in parentheses below.

* The original 1997 version includes all ad-libs except for 「待ってる」. However, it is still displayed in the lyrics on-screen during the opening animation. The first line of the second stanza is formatted as 「なかなかなかなか、なかなかなかなか　大変だけど」 and the second and third line of the third stanza are formatted without spaces.
* The Whiteberry cover includes all ad-libs except for 「待ってる」. The initial 「ポケモン　ゲットだぜーッ！」 is included only in the TV size version and not in the full version. The first line of the second stanza is formatted as 「なかなか　なかなか　なかなか　なかなか　大変だけど」.
* The 20th Anniversary version includes only the 「ポケモン　ゲットだぜーッ！」 and 「ピカチュウ～！」 ad-libs, the latter of which is formatted with an exclamation mark. The first line of the second stanza is formatted as 「なかなか　なかなか　なかなか　なかなか大変だけど」. The last two lines of the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth stanzas are displayed as one line. In SM042 and SM043, Misty, Brock, and Professor Oak say the 「きゃ～～～！！」, 「待ってる」, and 「そりゃそうじゃ」 ad-libs respectively, although they are not displayed in the lyrics on-screen.
* The 2023 version includes all ad-libs except for 「待ってる」.
* The 1998 movie version and its 2019 remaster include all ad-libs except for 「待ってる」.
* The 2001 movie remix, 2002 movie remix, and the 20th Anniversary Ballad ver. do not include any of the ad-libs.
* In the 2023 version, backup singers sing the line "With my friends" at the same time as Rica Matsumoto sings 「仲間をふやして　次の町へ」.
Battle Frontier (Japanese: バトルフロンティア lit. Batoru Furontia) is the fourth Japanese opening theme of Pokémon the Series: Ruby and Sapphire.

It debuted in AG135, replacing Pokémon Symphonic Medley. Its singer, Akina Takaya, is a relatively unknown artist. It debuted at the same time as a new ending, Pokémon Counting Song. The instruments-only version replaced the instrumental version of Advance Adventure in AG135 in the Japanese preview of the next episode. It was replaced by Spurt! in AG166. It was also used as the opening theme of Mew and the Wave Hero: Lucario in a different arrangement called Battle Frontier (Movie version).

It was also used as the Pokémon Sunday ending from PS053 to PS059 and was then replaced by YEAH!.

Synopsis
The Frontier Symbols are sucked into the Battle Frontier logo, similar to a black hole. The logo then evaporates, emitting a white light. The Brave Symbol moves across the screen, revealing the series logo.

Ash and Pikachu are in a field running toward the sun. After jumping towards the sun, the gang are seen in a forest. Brock is cooking with May nearby, Max is playing with May, Ash and the rest of the group's Pokémon are relaxing, and May is sitting behind a tree, crying. Delia Ketchum, Mimey, Professor Oak, Professor Birch, Tracey, and Misty holding an Misty are shown from bottom to top, smiling and posing.

Ash's Pokémon are seen using their attacks. Corphish uses Bubble Beam, Phanpy uses Rollout, Grovyle uses Leaf Blade, and Swellow uses Aerial Ace, flying in front of the sun. Pikachu then appears and uses Thunder. A still of Ash and his Pokémon smiling and posing is shown. Scott appears in his car and waves.

The first six Frontier Brains appear one by one, in their regular or silhouette form. More silhouettes are revealed in later episodes. All the Frontier Brains are then shown in front of a fiery background with the Battle Frontier logo. Ash commands Pikachu to fight against them.

Brock is cooking food, while cutouts of Max playing with Brock's Pokémon are shown in front. May tosses a Poké Ball towards the screen, while a split screen of Drew and Harley appear behind her, and her own Pokémon in cutout form play in front of her. TRT are shown dancing with their Pokémon. In earlier versions, a Weavile passes by in front of them, surprising the trio and their Pokémon.

The next scene has two variations. In the first version, a Mew happily flies by a Lucario sleeping on a tree, in promotion of Lucario and the Mystery of Mew. The second version features scenes based on the boxart illustrations of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team, ending with a shadowy Charizard face looking towards the screen.

Ash and the gang pose together in the ending scene, appearing one by one as silhouettes before appearing in color.

Pokémon Sunday ending animation
The first animation sequence in this version is Ash, May, and Brock calling out their Pokémon to attack. Those Pokémon are May, Grovyle, and Brock.

The next group of animations are the same as in the main opening (Ash and Pikachu running through the field, through the pan shot of Ash and all of his Pokémon). However, the differences in these animations are that ending credits replace the ones used in the opening. Also, the scene of Scott waving while driving past is replaced by a pan shot of all of the Frontier Brains. The animation sequence following this include portions of the first Frontier Brain battle between Ash and Noland, which involved Charizard and Noland's Articuno. After this, the normal animations resume, starting from the sequence involving Brock chopping up lettuce and cooking rice, and May throwing a Poké Ball. The TRT sequence prior to AG152 (with Weavile) remains intact. This is followed by the Mew and Lucario flyby animation, as was the case in the first version of this opening. Unlike the original ending though, the group silhouette is replaced with the Frontier Brain reveal.
Trivia
* The movie version of this song has an alternate lead-in.
* This is the first opening to have updates in animation.
* The track on the Perfect Best 2 album has a slightly different audio mix compared to the original single. Said album also includes a ballad version of the song.
* This is the first Japanese opening theme to not be composed by Hirokazu Tanaka.
* Oddly, in episodes before AG152, during the shot of TRT and their current Pokémon waving, Jessie's Dustox is missing from the lineup.

Ash and the gang appear in the ending scene, one by one as silhouettes before appearing in color, posing together.

A still of Ash and his Pokémon are shown, smiling and posing.

Ash and the gang appear in the ending scene, one by one as silhouettes before appearing in color, posing together.

Synopsis
All of Ash's Pokémon, including the Pokémon he released, are shown together as silhouettes. Panning shots of all the Pokémon, uncovered, are shown in between. The series logo then appears. All of Ash's Pokémon travel quickly through the air, leaving behind white flash trails.

Shots of May, Drew, and Harley appear, while May's Pokémon perform attacks in front of them: May uses Ice Beam, May uses Flamethrower, and May uses Solar Beam. After May uses Shadow Ball on its own, May is seen with all of her Pokémon, happily posing in front of an image of the Ribbon Cup.

Ash and the gang are running in an open field with Ash's Larvitar, Tyranitar, and Ash's Pidgeot. They are then seen crossing a log between two cliffs, running along a huge wave with Ash riding on top of it, and falling from the sky, passing through Ash's Butterfree and the Pink Butterfree. Then, the first six Frontier Brains appear in groups of three. Ash turns around to see all seven Frontier Brains together forming a line to the top, throwing their Frontier Symbols.

Ash's Pokémon are seen battling. Donphan uses Hyper Beam on an Arcanine, Swellow uses Aerial Ace on a Skarmory, Corphish comes out of the water and uses Bubble Beam on a Gyarados, and Sceptile jumps and uses Leaf Blade on an Aerodactyl. Ash commands Pikachu to use Volt Tackle. Pikachu runs and uses the move, creating an explosion and causing smoke. Aipom comes out of the smoke and uses her tail to hit the screen.

A playing card flips multiple times to show various characters. Scott represents the ace of spades, Professor Oak and Tracey represent the jack of clubs, Delia Ketchum and Misty represent the queen of hearts, and TRT represent the joker. After Team Rocket is shown, they are seen physically in extravagant costumes. James is dressed as a juggler with James, Jessie is dressed as a card dealer, and MTR is dressed as a magician. The entire card deck then falls on the trio. The trio pops out of the pile in their regular uniforms, confused, as Jessie pops out of Meowth's hat.

The next scene has two variations. The first version features Ash and Pikachu looking towards the Battle Pyramid, while the second version features Solana and Jack Walker appearing on screen, twirling their Capture Stylers and posing.

Ash and the gang pose together in the ending scene, initially appearing on the screen as quick white flashes.
It's more incomprehensible than I thought!
I'm trembling with excitement so much it's laughable
Pursuing my dreams for tens of thousands of miles
I still still still still have potential!

There's no use waiting around, let's go forth!
If you do it, then just do it, with a spurt of speed!

The forest is dark, there are no roads
Even so, my courage is overflowing
The mountains are tall, the valleys are deep
But of course, I'm all fired up

The words of my friends, look,
They're more reassuring than I thought!
They're extremely warm, so much it makes me cry
When it comes to things I love, for some reason
I can keep going extremely strong!
Let's go with "love power" going full throttle,
With a spurt of speed!

Through tears and smiles, you're not alone
I will always and forever cheer you up!
Trivia
* Lapras is not included in the opening two scenes with the rest of Ash's Pokémon.
* Donphan does not fly with the other Pokémon after the title was shown.
* Butterfree has the yellow scarf that Brock gave it.
* Casey does not appear, most likely due to it having a new Trainer.
* Primeape, Charizard, and Squirtle do not appear in the section showcasing released Pokémon, most likely due to being in training and still belonging to Ash.

Errors
* When Drew appears, May's Combusken is seen using Flamethrower in the air, though it is a move that it cannot use yet. This is the second opening in which May's Combusken is seen using Flamethrower erroneously, the first one being Challenger!!.
