The Vs. Seeker (Japanese: バトルサーチャー Battle Searcher, named without a period in Generation III as VS Seeker) is a Key Item that appears in FireRed and LeafGreen, Diamond and Pearl and Platinum. It is used to battle Trainers that the player has battled previously.

Locations and uses of the Vs. Seeker
All games
When used, the Vs. Seeker sends out a signal that allows Pokémon Trainers to find other Trainers who want a rematch. This signal affects all Trainers that are within the player's view. Once used, the device cannot be used again until it is charged. The player does this by walking a total of 100 steps. The effect on the Trainers wears off either when they have been battled, when the player leaves the route, or when the player walks 100 steps within the route. If the player attempts to use the Vs. Seeker when it is not fully charged, the player will be told how many steps remain for it to function. It should be noted that after using the Vs. Seeker, some Trainers may have higher-leveled Pokémon than the last battle, and their Pokémon may even have evolved. This usually happens when certain events relative to the opponent trainer's location have happened, such as the player beating the region's Gym Leader, but can also happen if events in far-away locations have been triggered, such as beating the Elite Four. The Vs. Seeker is also unable to be used in buildings or caves, even where previously battled Trainers are present.

The Vs. Seeker can be obtained from a girl in the Vermilion City Pokémon Center, claiming that she is giving them out to everyone for free. The indication of a rematch is initially a speech bubble above the Trainers' heads with a black double exclamation mark (!!). After that, the Trainers jump up and down or raise their hands to remind the player post-battle of who wanted a re-match. Trainers that have not been battled previously by the player display a single red exclamation mark (<span style="color:#F00">!</span>), and do not jump up and down. Trainers that do not wish to battle do not do anything and display a blue bubble containing a white <span style="background:#88F; color:#FFF">X</span>.

Generation IV
The Vs. Seeker is received from Lucas/Dawn on Route 207 after the first trip down Cycling Road in Diamond and Pearl. In Platinum, instead he/she meets the player at the entrance to Mt. Coronet. The indication of a rematch in Generation IV is similar to that of Generation III. The initial reaction is a speech bubble containing a double red exclamation mark (<span style="color:#F00">!!</span>), and the Trainers rotate in place afterwards. If a Trainer does not want to battle, they will do nothing.
In the Pokémon Adventures manga
The Vs. Seeker appears in the FireRed & LeafGreen as one Bill's latest inventions. It works by sensing the fighting spirit of willing Trainers and then pointing towards them with a beam of light. Its purpose was served when all three Vs. Seekers handed out to Red, Blue, and Green shone their lights towards Trainer Tower, allowing them to proceed towards their last battle against Team Rocket.

VS Seeker was introduced as Trainer card in the Pokémon Trading Card Game during the English EX Series (the Japanese ADV Era). First released in the Japanese Flight of Legends expansion, it later debuted in English in the EX FireRed & LeafGreen expansion, with both prints featuring an illustration by K. Utsunomiya. This card was reprinted in the Japanese Beat of the Frontier expansion and the English Supreme Victors expansion, with a new illustration by Wataru Kawahara. VS Seeker allows the player to take a Supporter card from their discard pile and add it to their hand after showing it to their opponent.

Trivia
* Red and Leaf, in their Generation III designs, wear them on their bag straps.
** In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Pokémon Trainer has a Vs. Seeker, as his design is based on Red.
** Red's Vs. Seeker still appears on his Generation IV and Generation V sprite.
* The PokéNav and the Vs. Seeker resemble each other somewhat in appearance, and both serve the purpose of allowing players to rechallenge Trainers they previously battled.
* Using the Vs. Seeker does not temporarily lower the volume of any current background music, such as Cynthia's theme, when playing the Piano in the Villa of Platinum.
* In Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum, if the player uses the Vs. Seeker on a certain area of the cycling road part of 206, it is possible to catch the attention of a Hiker below the road. However, it is impossible to fight him without using the Vs. Seeker again, as there is a gate on the way.
* While not used, the Vs. Seeker bag sprite appears in the coding for Generation V games, along with all other items seen only in Generation III and IV.
The Mossdeep Gym (Japanese: トクサネジム Tokusane Gym) is the official Gym of Mossdeep City. It is based on Psychic Pokémon. The Gym Leaders are Tate and Liza. Trainers who defeat them receive the Mind.
E
E

In Ruby and Sapphire, the Gym's floor is covered with tiles similar to spin tiles that whisk the player across to another area of the Gym when stepped on. Pulling switches changes the direction certain tiles point, allowing the player to access the Gym Leaders when all the switches are pulled. A warp tile next to them warps the player back to the entrance.

In Emerald, the Gym is similar to Saffron Gym in that it is a series of rooms connected by warp tiles. Each room contains Trainers and obstacles on spin tiles that rotate when certain tiles are stepped on, changing the path and often bringing the sight of enemy Trainers in-line with the player. Mossdeep Gym is the only Gym in Emerald to change its gimmick so drastically. Also, although other Trainers and statues spin on the spin tiles, the player is unaffected by them.
RS

In Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, the Gym is entirely redesigned. Platforms are connected by strings of energy orbs that automatically direct the player between them. The player must inspect stones on the various platforms to change which orbs are lit up, and thus which paths they can take through the Gym.

When defeated, Tate and Liza will give the player the Mind as well as 04 as a reward.
In the anime
The Mossdeep Gym appeared in It's Still Rocket Roll to Me! and Solid as a Solrock. In the anime, the Gym has multiple planet-like objects floating in the air, making the battlefield three-dimensional.

Ash originally met Tate and Liza having a battle in a zero-gravity room, and was surprised to find out that there were two Gym Leaders in one Gym. After Max and Tate had saved the space shuttle from being stolen by TRT, Tate and Liza agreed to battle Ash. For the battle against Lunatone and Solrock, Ash chose Pikachu and Swellow, the latter in order to counter Lunatone and Solrock's ability to float in the air.

However, in the middle of the battle, Team Rocket showed up with their new robot, and stole Lunatone and Solrock. With Ash and ashfr' help, the two Pokémon were recovered, but since the robot had opened a hole in the Gym's roof, the interrupted battle was finished outdoors instead.
The original new Pokédex was dropped for HeartGold and SoulSilver, which alter the Gold order of the Johto Pokédex slightly, moving some Pokémon down the list to add a select few Pokémon that evolve from Generation I Pokémon and Generation II Pokémon by the method of learning a move (specifically Tangrowth, Mamoswine, Lickilicky, Yanmega, and Ambipom). However, up to #101 (Yanma), the order is the same as that of the new Pokédex, after which it diverges starting with #102 (Yanmega).

Trainer Tower (Japanese: トレーナータワー Trainer Tower) is a facility in FireRed and LeafGreen located to north of Quest Island in the Sevii Islands. The area where it is located is the most northern location in Quest Island. It is similar to Battle Towers in that Trainers can be challenged in a variety of different battle types consecutively over a number of floors to reach the top; though the key concept of Trainer Tower is speed. Each battle mode has a default time and if beaten, offers a rare in-game item as a reward. Unlike Battle Towers, the player's Pokémon will not be healed between battles, though recovery items such as Revives and Potions can be used both during and between battles. If necessary, the player can return to the entrance to heal their party at the Pokémon Center, though this will waste more time in comparison to using items.

Battles conducted in Trainer Tower do not award experience or money. The level of the Pokémon used by Trainers will also match the player's highest-leveled Pokémon.

In the original Japanese releases of Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, Trainer Tower serves as a facility compatible with the e-Reader, in which cards from the Pokémon Battle e FireRed & LeafGreen set can be used to modify the Trainers the player can battle, as well as the prizes they can earn. The default layout of Trainer Tower in the Japanese versions has four floors with the same Trainers on each floor for each playthrough. Scanning cards can increase this to a maximum of eight floors with multiple combinations of opponents. The standard eight-floor layout and different battle types as featured in the localizations incorporate the majority of the Trainers from these cards.

Trainer Hill, a location that shares many similarities with Trainer Tower, was later featured in Emerald.
In the Pokémon Adventures manga
In the Pokémon Adventures manga, the Trainer Tower is controlled by R (Japanese: ｒ), a computer that was created by Carr. It is equipped with 3D projectors, different sorts of weapons, as well as restraint system that is almost completely immune to all kinds of Pokémon moves.

R held Professor Oak and Green's parents captive in order to lure Red, Blue, and Green to it. After being insulted by Blue, R angrily attacked him and held Blue's Pokémon off. However, Blue had his last Pokémon, his Blue, infiltrate its network from the inside and shut it down with Zap Cannon, freeing Professor Oak and Green's parents.

After Giovanni succeeds in trapping Mewtwo with the M2 Bind restraint armor, R comes back online to explain its use and prevent Porygon2 from moving with an virtual lock. As it gloats, Giovanni notes that it was created by Carr, which explains its rude, crass, and arrogant personality.

Eventually, Red, Blue, and Green free Mewtwo from the M2 Bind by using their starter Pokémon's ultimate attacks: Frenzy Plant, Blast Burn, and Hydro Cannon. Like they had planned, the attacks are able to break the armor that R had claimed to be immune to any kind of Pokémon attacks, and then cancel each other out before they could reach and hurt Mewtwo. Once freed, Mewtwo uses its Psywave to slice the tower in two, destroying it.
