== Yellow Trainer Sprites ==

There is an extremely lack of Yellow non-species sprites both in the archives and in usage throughout the Internet. As I searched google, I could not find one site with the unique Yellow Trainer sprites. That being said, I have whipped back out my Yellow ROM and am capturing Trainer sprites, removing backgrounds with Pixen, and saving them as PNGs to upload onto Archives so that we can have the Yellow Trainers. For example, Brock looks different in Yellow than in RGB, GSC, or FRLG (though the second two sets are a bit obvious). The GSC Red and GSC Blue sprites are based upon the Yellow sprites, but the colours are different. Jessie and James are ONLY in Yellow. These sprites should be here, but they're not. I suggest there should be some sort of guide on the project page on how to write, order and format Character articles to keep them all looking neat and consistent. I've noticed a lot of the articles I've edited, that the Headings are often not all in the same order: sometimes "In the animes" is before "In the games", otherwise after; or Names is put subheading under Trivia... I can never tell what is correct. == Two questions: content order and missing character ==

So I was browsing Team Magma and Aqua character articles, and I see that Maxie's headers go Game, then Anime, and Archie's go Anime, then Game. Maxie's seemed far more appeasing with that order, so I wound up switching Archie's headers, and I think it's better for it. So why /isn't/ the default that Games come before Anime?

Sure, the old argument is "people are looking for the anime sections first" but I don't think that's true. Nor calculable. In some cases, where the templates for the game characters get incredibly out of hand (rivals), it's easier to put the anime section on top; otherwise, it would get lost among the tables and load-time. Except load-time won't make a difference: either you're stuck waiting for it to load so you can scroll twice/thrice, or hit END and scroll up a few times, so it's also not about lag.

I do think game characters (for those that can) should have their game biographies before their anime one. It's the natural order, in most cases. Games precede anime, and both precede manga.

::After two edit conflicts, my say. Personally, it honestly doesn't matter to me. But if it has to be consistent with all other pages, I'd go with anime, games, and manga like it is already. But for cases of rivals or anything with long sections, I'd put anime before the games. However, they'd also have to be consistent, so rivals or other pages with long sections get that treatment only. All other pages, I'd say anime, games and manga if applicable. If someone complains about it, I'll try to compromise. Plus there's a navigation bar for sections long sections like that so if they're not happy they can use that. It has been bugging me that some of the abilities of Gym Leader's are [[Unown (Pokémon)|"Unknown"]]. Well this is just a suggestion. For people who can, their is an Action Replay code that can make it so you can steal other people's Pokémon (I can't do it because mine doesn't work). What someone can do is steal a Gym Leader's Pokémon that doesn't have a known ability on Bulbapedia and figure it out ''that'' way.

An easier way to do this would be to hack a [[Master Ball]] into your pocket, then set a wild encounter code for {{p|Porygon}} and a level modifier code for something high, then catch the first Porygon you see that has {{a|Trace}}. Zoroark could possibly be Shadow Ash. This makes sense since Zoroark is the 'master of illusion'.

Huge numbers of Dreamstone fans who are also Pokemon fans have pointed out the resembelence in the names of Zoroark and Zordrak. Zordrak name I think is a mix between Zorro(Spanish for fox) and Drako(Latin for dragon). :I doubt they need to do anything of the sort. Zordrak physically resembles Guilmon from Digimon, meaning they can't get him for likeness. Zordrak's name...if they'd hit Zoroark for any resemblance to the name, Zordrak would have to answer to Filmation for similarities to Hordak from She-Ra (equally a villain), and that came out prior to 1990 (the fact that Zoroark is /not/ the same name means there's no claim anyway, and we'll likely keep this name [or wind up with Zoloarc, or some mixture with the letters] making it impossible for a case. Lastly, Zoroark is based on a kitsune, a magical fox that's all about illusions and transformations and disguises. Zoroark has /no/ connections to nightmares and dreams and every bit connected to Japanese folklore, meaning even if there was a resemblance...there's still no case, since the folklore predates this century, never mind this show. The '''PokéWalker''' (Japanese: '''ポケウォーカー''' ''PokéWalker'') is a {{wp|pedometer}}, separate from the [[Nintendo DSi]], that allows player connect with a compatible {{game|HeartGold and SoulSilver|s}} to transfer and exchange Pokémon from their DS card to this hardware device. The PokéWalker is just like a real pedometer, that counts each step a person takes by detecting the motion of their hips, while recording each step and adding it to the experience of a deposited Pokémon. It will be bundled with Japanese version with {{game|HeartGold and SoulSilver}} when they are purchased, however it is unknown whether it will be bundled with English version of the game.

The PokéWalker has both the shape and colors of a regular [[Poké Ball]]. It is about 4.8 centimeters in diameter, 13.9 millimeters thick, and will weigh about 21 gram. It has three buttons and a black and white, {{wp|monochrome}} interface. It will allow players of HeartGold and SoulSilver to connect wirelessly with a [[Nintendo DS]] system, and deposit one [[Pokémon]] there. The deposited Pokémon will then be able to gains [[experience]] and [[happiness]] as players walks around.

This pedometer is the remake of [[Pokémon Pikachu 2]], which is a toy that can be used to obtain [[Mystery Gift]]s in {{3v2|Gold| Silver|Crystal}}. Similar to that toy, the PokéWalker will use the currency ''Watt'' (W); Watts will be obtained at random as steps are taken. By using Watts, PokéWalker players can use the [[Poké Radar]] and [[Itemfinder]] devices to catch wild Pokémon and find special items, respectively. These can be sent to HeartGold and SoulSilver.

==Gameplay==
There are several functions available in-game. As the player play on the PokéWalker, they will occasionally come across mini-games, that have an effect on the player's Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver games, however it is unknown whether or not these will be mandatory to play.

===Pedometer===
The PokéWalker's main function is the pedometer attached to it, which allows the deposited Pokémon to gain experience out of the {{game|HeartGold and SoulSilver}} game cart. It will act like a real pedometer, counting each step a person takes, and recording each step and adding it to the experience of a deposited Pokémon. Each step the PokéWalker detects, the deposited Pokémon will then gain [[experience|experience points]] as players walks around. The deposited Pokémon will also gain [[happiness]] as it goes along.

This can be selected from the PokéWalker's menu, and allows the deposited Pokémon to battle with a [[wild Pokémon]] on the PokéWalker. To battle Pokémon on PokéWalker, the player will need to use the [[PokéRadar]] item that costs 10 watts to use. Four pieces of [[tall grass]] will be displayed on the screen and the player will have to select one of them, and a Pokémon may appear. Once a Pokémon appears, the battle will start. This battle system is not as advanced as the battle system in the [[main series]] games. There are just two options to choose from: Attack or Dodge. This allows the deposited Pokémon to attack the wild Pokémon and protect the deposited Pokémon from being attacked. Both {{p|Pichu}} and {{p|Munchlax}} have been confirmed to be available on the PokéWalker.

The player is also allowed to capture the Pokémon and trade them to {{game|HeartGold and SoulSilver|s}}. This is done the same way as in HeartGold and SoulSilver, by weakening the wild Pokémon and then throwing a [[Poké Ball]]. Once the wild Pokémon has been captured and transferred to HeartGold and SoulSilver, the Pokémon will have ''PokéWalker'' as their caught location. The player can capture up to three Pokémon in each PokéWalker session.

Another feature on the PokéWalker is the ability to search for [[item]]s and transfer them to {{game|HeartGold and SoulSilver}} where they can be used. Also accessible from the menu, the Itemfinder feature costs three Watts to use. Like the battling feature on the PokéWalker, the player will be given six pieces of [[tall grass]] to select from. Once the player has selected a piece of grass, they may find an item. There are some rare items to be found in each area. The player can store up to 10 items on PokéWalker at any one time.

===Friend Communication===
A special feature included with the PokéWalker is the ability to exchange and meet friend's Pokémon over a {{wp|Infrared}} communication port on the unit. If a the player leaves their Nintendo DS system and comes within contact with another person's PokéWalker, their Pokémon data may be sent to the player's PokéWalker and visa verse. If the player does this, they will be able to give the other player one of the items they have obtained and they will be able to do the same. These gifts will help unlock PokéWalker areas which haven't been unlocked yet.

==Interaction with Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver==

The PokéWalker is only compatible with {{game|HeartGold and SoulSilver|s}} using a [[Nintendo DS]], [[Nintendo DS Lite]], or a [[Nintendo DSi]] system. The PokéWalker connect to the DS using a wireless connection. To send Pokémon over to the PokéWalker, the player must open a specific menu in HeartGold and SoulSilver. The location of this menu is currently unknown. In this menu, the player can select Pokémon from boxes and send them over to PokéWalker. It appears that there are three slots for the Pokémon in PokéWalker.

In communication with the PokéWalker, the player is able to keep track of certain information and events from it such as how many steps they have taken and how many watts they have built up. When the Pokémon is returned to Pokémon HeartGold or SoulSilver, the goings on of the player's Pokémon will be added to the PokéWalker Diary in HeartGold or SoulSilver. This will tell the player if they have captured any Pokémon while they were in the PokéWalker, communicate with other people, or find items within the PokéWalker.

A [[Gentleman]] aboard the St. Anne was challenging {{pkmn|trainer}}s to {{pkmn|battle}} his {{p|Raticate}}. Ash battled it with his {{AP|Butterfree}}. Raticate's powerful {{m|Super Fang}} and {{m|Hi Jump Kick}} attacks were no match for Butterfree, who paralyzed it with {{m|Stun Spore}}. Before Ash could order it to finish it off, however, the gentleman forfeited, saying that Butterfree has shown how strong it is (although he could've just been concerned about Raticate). Afterwards, the gentleman revealed that he was so impressed with Butterfree that he wanted to [[trade]] his Raticate for it. Ash, being impressed with the Raticate, and having asked Brock for advice, at which he told Ash he should trade, (however, given that Brock was a little preoccupied with a woman at the moment, he may not have done this consciously), and so the two traded their Pokémon. However impressed Ash was with Raticate, he only used it once, mistakenly calling it out when he wanted to use his Butterfree's {{m|Sleep Powder}} to help fight against the swarm of [[Team Rocket grunts|Rocket grunts]] on board, as he had momentarily forgotten the trade had happened. Because he missed his Butterfree and he worried about how the Gentleman would treat it, he realized that the trade had been a bad idea and he would rather have his original Pokémon back. He wanted this so badly that he traded the Raticate back while the [[S.S. Anne|St. Anne]] was sinking, causing him and his friends to be trapped inside as it sank into the depths.

Because Ash only owned it for less than an entire episode, little can be said about Raticate itself. There is not enough known about it to even distinguish it from other Raticate, apart from the fact that it can use Hi Jump Kick, a technique that cannot be learned by other Raticate, and that it is, in general, a strong Pokémon.

Should it be known as Ace Trainer with a statement that prior to Generation IV they were known as Cool Trainers, or have it the other way around, with a statement that in Diamond and Pearl they were known as Ace Trainers?

At the beginning of their quest, {{pkmn|Trainer}}s are given a '''starter Pokémon''' (Japanese: '''はじめてのポケモン''' ''first Pokémon'' or '''さいしょのポケモン''' ''beginning Pokémon''). This Pokémon will be used to {{pkmn|battle}} the first [[wild Pokémon]] that the Trainer encounters. Once another Pokémon is caught, the starter may be retired, but it is often with this Pokémon that Trainers learn friendship and trust. As such, even advanced Trainers may still use their starters.

In the main {{pkmn|games}}, each starter Pokémon is at [[level]] 5, armed with one damage-dealing [[move]] and another that affects [[stat]]s. Trainers can choose between a {{t|Fire}}, {{t|Water}}, or {{type2|Grass}} Pokémon ([[Pokémon Yellow Version|with one exception]]). The Trainer that will be designated as the player's [[rival]] will always choose or have the Pokémon of the starter trio that the player's starter is weakest to, though it may not be the case that they remain the true rival.

This {{ga|Red's Pikachu|Pikachu}} is the same one that attacked the player when they ventured onto [[Route 1]] that Oak caught, which will be the only choice the player gets. Another notable change here involves the player's rival receiving an {{p|Eevee}} from Oak, which will evolve into one of its three [[Generation I]] evolutions, depending on the outcome of the battles between the player and the rival.

It should be noted that during the adventure, the player will be able to get the original three Kanto starters through special events not present in the earlier games. It remains to be the only main series game to allow the player to obtain all three starter Pokémon from a previous game legitimately, without trading. The Pikachu received from Oak will also refuse to evolve into {{p|Raichu}} by use of a {{stone|Thunderstone}} unless it is traded away to do so.

After the player meets with [[Mr. Pokémon]] and receives a [[Pokédex]] from [[Professor Oak]], Professor Elm will call the player to tell them that {{ga|Silver|a thief}} has taken a Pokémon. As the player returns to [[New Bark Town]], he or she will encounter the thief, who will have the stolen Pokémon with the type advantage over the player's own. From this point onward, the thief will be the player's rival, while Professor Elm keeps the Pokémon that was left behind by the thief on his desk for the remainder of the game.

Also, in HeartGold and SoulSilver, {{g|Soul}} (Kris, Heart, whatever you want to call her) or {{g|Gold}} (depending who the player picks) has Marill as a starter (It's currently unknown if he\she will change Pokémon if the player picks a diffrent Pokémon).

The player's neighbor, {{ga|Brendan}} or {{ga|May}}, already has his or her starter, which is always the one with the type advantage. [[Wally]] starts with {{p|Ralts}}; he seeks [[Norman]]'s and the player's assistance in catching his first Pokémon. By the end of the game, it seems that the player's nominal rival, the son/daughter of Professor Birch, has stopped being a Trainer, and Wally is actually the true rival, facing the player before he or she can leave {{ho|Victory Road}} and staying there to rebattle the player later.

The player's friend and rival {{ga|Pearl}} will choose the starter that has a type advantage against the player's choice, and the [[non-player character|NPC]] who is the other-gender choice ({{ga|Lucas}}/{{ga|Dawn}}) will have the Pokémon weak to the player's choice. After fighting off the two Starly at the lake and returning the briefcase to Rowan, the professor will allow the player and {{ga|Pearl}} to keep the Pokémon they used. Compared to previous games, NPC Trainers use their own starter Pokémon more than before, with notable figures such as the [[Gym Leader]] [[Gardenia]] and [[Elite Four]] member {{EF|Flint}} using them, as do several other Trainers.

In {{game|Platinum}}, the player and the rival are stopped by Professor Rowan just as they are about to run through tall grass to get to Sandgem Town to ask the Professor for Pokémon. After some questions about the player and the rival's love for Pokémon, he decides to entrust them with one starter Pokémon each.

A first for the Pokémon games, these starter Pokémon come as a pair as to represent the double-battle system, and are also different in that they are in the player's possession right at start of play. Umbreon is at level 26, knowing the [[TM]] moves {{m|Taunt}} and {{m|Snatch}}, as well as {{m|Bite}} which is otherwise only available through {{pkmn|breeding}} at such a level. Upon their tenth birthday, youth can register for a [[Pokédex]] and pick up a starter Pokémon from the local [[Pokémon professor]] or [[Pokémon Center]] free of charge. Starters are usually raised specifically to be easy to train.

Like in the games, the specific starter Pokémon available vary from region to region, but are the same in each region as the games. That is, Kanto Trainers can only choose Bulbasaur, Charmander or Squirtle, Johto Trainers can only choose Chikorita, Cyndaquil, or Totodile, and so on.

Other rookie Trainers may receive their first Pokémon from a friend or relative instead; this means that Trainers can, in fact, start with any Pokémon, provided that their first Pokémon is received from someone that is not sanctioned by the Pokémon League.

Most characters in the manga do not start out with one of the Pokédex-related starter Pokémon. Instead, they usually have a Pokémon they were given by their parents when they were infants that they use as their starter Pokémon. Occasionally, it is not directly stated which Pokémon were their starter Pokémon in the manga, but in profiles of their teams, their starter Pokémon is marked with a star and is the highest level, even if they acquired more than one Pokémon at first.
