Blurb
<!--https://www.pokemon.com/us/animation/seasons/15/episode-38-piplup-pansage-and-a-meeting-of-the-times/-->
<i>Flying with Cynthia to Undella Town in eastern Unova, our heroes marvel at the variety of Pokémon they see. As soon as they land, they’re whisked off to Cynthia’s beautiful vacation home in a stretch limo driven by her butler, Jervis. They were unaware that Meloetta had been invisibly following them, until it reappears in the car—right in Ash’s lap! But the Pokémon is a bit shy, and it disappears again after a few minutes. Meanwhile, Team Rocket is secretly watching their every move...

When they arrive at Cynthia’s house, who should be waiting for them but Dawn and Piplup! After a happy reunion with Ash, Dawn meets Iris and Cilan, plus all the new Pokémon traveling with them in the Unova region. Ash finally convinces Meloetta to come out of hiding to meet Dawn, as well—and when the Mythical Pokémon appears, Piplup and Oshawott promptly start competing for its attention!

When our heroes discover that Dawn is also planning to enter the Pokémon World Tournament Junior Cup, everyone wants to have a battle with her! Cilan is up first, in an exciting Connoisseur-versus-Coordinator match, and gives a glowing (if long-winded) evaluation of Dawn’s bond with Piplup in the middle of the battle. Then, Meloetta causes another interruption when it wanders onto the battlefield to dance with Piplup, inspired by its beautiful Contest moves. Jervis wisely calls a time-out until everyone is a bit less distracted.

Dawn promises to battle Iris next, and then it’s Ash’s turn! The four of them look forward to training together at Cynthia’s villa in preparation for the Junior Cup, while Team Rocket secretly continues to implement its most important mission ever...</i>

Plot
Following his latest Gym victory, Ash, Cynthia and ashfr take a flight from Virbank City to Undella Town. As they approach the seaside resort town, they spot the crystal blue waters, a pod of Wailord breaching the surface and Wingull flying overhead. Cilan remarks that every time he looks out the window, he's deeply moved. Cynthia explains that many Pokémon from other regions live in East Unova. They soon arrive in Undella Town.

After they land, Ash sees a red spot in the distance, which he thinks it's a Staryu. The gang rushes over to get a closer look at the Staryu when a Meloetta quietly appears. Ash declares that he's here for the Pokémon World Tournament Junior Cup, and they are going to win, get stronger, and then participate in the Unova League. While they are speaking, Cynthia's butler, Jervis drives in with a limousine, asking them to go to Cynthia's villa. Suddenly, TRT appears, noticing that Meloetta is quietly following Ash and his friends. When it's time to go, Meloetta sneaks into Jervis's car, following Ash and friends to Cynthia's villa.

On the way, when Cilan is speaking to Cynthia, Ash spots a Rattata, when suddenly Meloetta appears and sits on Ash's lap. Seeing Ash, Meloetta seems very excited, when Cynthia says that Meloetta must really like Ash, so that's why Meloetta keeps following Ash around. A while later, they arrive at Cynthia's villa, but when Jervis opens the villa's door, Meloetta suddenly disappears again.

Ash calls out for it to come back, but it doesn't respond. Iris says it'll come back later, and Cynthia says that it must surely be shy. The gang enters Cynthia's villa and when Ash gets to the living room, Dawn suddenly sneaks up on Ash and Pikachu, tapping Ash's shoulder. Iris and Cilan just stand there wondering what's happening, and Ash turns around and sees Dawn. Ash is pleasantly surprised, and they exchange greetings and then give each other a high five.

The gang sits down for a cup of tea and Dawn congratulates Ash on getting the eight needed Gym Badges to join Unova's League Conference. She reveals to Iris and Cilan that Professor Oak told her all about them. Dawn starts introducing herself and her Dawn, but Iris and Cilan have also heard about Dawn thanks to Ash. They know she is a Coordinator who traveled with Ash in the Sinnoh region. Iris asks her what is the difference between Coordinators and regular Trainers, and Dawn informs her about Pokémon Contests. After that, Cilan says he would like to evaluate Piplup, and Dawn realizes that she is talking with a Connoisseur. Ash tells Dawn that, since she came to Unova, she could have contacted him, to which Dawn replies that she has been pretty busy lately. She reveals that she only recently set foot in the region and decided to come after learning that Cynthia would attend the Junior Cup. She also mentions that she has visited Nimbasa City to watch a Pokémon Musical and get inspiration for future Contests as well as to watch one of Elesa's fashion shows. At one point, Piplup notices something, and Ash realizes it must have been Meloetta. He wishes to introduce it, but the category begins to act shy and remains invisible.

After that, everyone goes outside to reveal their Pokémon to each other. Iris and Cilan send out all their Pokémon on hand while Ash sends out Oshawott, Pignite, Snivy, Scraggy, and Krokorok. Dawn sends out Dawn's Pokémon on hand. Proving not to have lost her love interest for Pikachu, Dawn proceeds toward him. Oshawott begins to show brief love interest for Buneary, but Buneary ignores him and cuddles up on Pikachu. Then, Oshawott's scalchop falls off and Piplup tries to put it on his head, but it falls off and Dawn kicks it over a ledge, so Oshawott chases after it. Ash notices Dawn, who brushes up against him, with Dawn adding that her Cyndaquil had evolved. Right then, Dawn begins to hear Meloetta and Piplup notices as well. Ash tells Meloetta that it is okay to show itself, and it does this time. After greeting Dawn, Piplup develops a crush on Meloetta. When Oshawott returns with his scalchop in hand, he notices that Piplup also has a crush on Meloetta, and a rivalry develops between them. Out of jealousy, Oshawott uses Aqua Jet on Piplup, though Ash immediately demands he apologize.

After this long-awaited reunion, Ash asks Dawn to battle. However, Cilan interrupts and asks to battle Dawn first, saying he would like to do an evaluation of a Pokémon that was training by a Coordinator. Although disappointed, Ash allows Cilan to go first. Cilan sends out Cilan and Dawn uses Piplup. Pansage opens up the battle with Bullet Seed and Dawn commands Piplup to knock the seeds back with Drill Peck, using the opponent's move to her own advantage much like in a Contest Battle while making Pansage the only one to take damage. Pansage uses Rock Tomb and Piplup uses Bubble Beam as a Counter Shield to repel Pansage's attack. Cilan starts his evaluation time which eventually leads to order Pansage to use Solar Beam while Dawn commands Piplup use a Ice Beam. The attacks collide and create a shining light.

Upon seeing the beautiful display that Piplup and Pansage have put on, Meloetta becomes fascinated and begins dancing around with Piplup. Oshawott comes out of his Poké Ball and is immediately jealous sees this and is infuriated moreso by Piplup's smirk. Ash tells Meloetta that he and his friends are all competing in the Junior Cup and that he hopes it will cheer all of them on. After this, Team Rocket, spying from behind a bush, remark that Meloetta is on the verge of becoming a "twerp Pokémon", and also begin talking about their plan to capture Meloetta.

As day turns to evening, everyone relaxes on the villa deck drinking tea while Meloetta is over by the water sitting on a rock and singing its special song, soothing everybody. Meanwhile, Team Rocket along with Dr. Zager reveal they are ready to begin their plot to capture Meloetta and that their plan will involve the Abyssal Ruins.

Trivia
* This is the first episode to air in Japan after the earliest releases of Pokémon Black and White Versions 2 in Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
* The episode's English dub title is a play on a Simon & Garfunkel album titled Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme, which in turn was named after a line from the folk song Scarborough Fair (ballad).
* Team Rocket's Pokémon Live Caster: Meloetta*/Unfezant*
** Viewers could call one of three phone numbers to hear an answer from either Jessie, James, or MTR. Five random callers won Pokémon merchandise.
* Much like Misty's guest appearance in Pokémon the Series: Ruby and Sapphire and May's guest appearance in Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl, Dawn makes a return.
** However, unlike the first two, Dawn doesn't reappear in new clothing or with a change in her team.
*** However, she does have a change in her team in the English dub and from Ash's point of view.
* This is the first instance of Counter Shield being used since Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl concluded, as well as the only use of it in Pokémon the Series: Black and White.
* This marks the first appearance of Dawn's Quilava in the English dub, since the episode it evolved in never aired outside of Japan.
* This episode marks the first time a Pokémon from Generation IV appears in the Who's That Pokémon? eyecatch.
* As of this episode, Dawn now has a Unova Pokédex and a Xtransceiver in place of her Sinnoh Pokédex and Pokétch. However, she goes back to wearing her Pokétch when she returns in Pokémon Journeys: The Series.
* The plane that Ash, Iris, and Cilan, ride on their trip to eastern Unova bears a resemblance to a Boeing 314 Clipper.

Errors
* In the preview for the next episode, Dawn's beak is missing for a split-second.
* When Ash sends out all of his Pokemon to show Dawn, his Unfezant does not appear.
Blurb
<!--https://www.pokemon.com/us/animation/seasons/15/episode-38-piplup-pansage-and-a-meeting-of-the-times/-->

* Team Rocket's Pokémon Live Caster: Meloetta*/Unfezant*

<!--https://www.pokemon.com/us/animation/seasons/15/episode-47-unrest-at-the-nursery/-->
<i>Ash and Scraggy are training for the Unova League when they get involved in a scuffle between a Rufflet and a Vullaby! As they try to break up the fight, an aide from the nearby Pokémon nursery shows up looking for the two squabbling Pokémon. Layla introduces herself and brings Rufflet and Vullaby—along with Ash, Iris, and Cilan—back to the nursery with her.

When Cilan learns that Rufflet and Vullaby have never gotten along, he offers to lend his Connoisseur skills to fix the pairing problem. Although Vullaby is withdrawn at first, a little encouragement from Cilan and the others soon has all of the nursery’s Pokémon playing happily together! But when more trouble ensues during lunch, Vullaby uses Punishment on several of the others in an attempt to calm things down.

Layla thanks Vullaby for its help, but gently suggests that it might have gone overboard. This hurts Vullaby’s feelings, and it angrily runs away! Layla and Cilan quickly go after it, and Ash and Iris stay behind to keep an eye on the nursery...until they realize Rufflet has wandered off after Layla, and Ash sets off to find it.

Cilan and Layla manage to track down the sulking Vullaby, and Rufflet catches up with them shortly afterward. As he watches the three of them interact, Cilan offers a theory about the ongoing rivalry: Rufflet and Vullaby have been competing for Layla’s affection, and when she pays attention to one of them, the other quickly becomes jealous. She reassures the two Pokémon that she cares about both of them equally.

Their trip back to the nursery is fraught with danger, but Meloetta locates them and brings Ash to help. Layla proves her devotion to Rufflet and Vullaby by protecting them both, and everyone arrives back at the nursery unharmed!

As everyone happily listens to Meloetta’s beautiful singing, it becomes apparent that Team Rocket is secretly listening as well—but for different, sinister reasons. Dr. Zager has gathered the last bits of data needed to execute their plan, and their next step is to inform the Boss of their success—with hopes that he’ll come to meet them in Unova!</i>

Plot
Continuing their stay at Cynthia's villa in Undella Town, Ash and Scraggy are doing some training for the Unova League Pokémon League. However, Ash and ashfr suddenly hear a Rufflet and Vullaby fighting each other. Cilan deduces that Rufflet had been inadvertently struck in the head by a shard of rock from Scraggy's Focus Blast and has accused Vullaby of doing it instead. Rufflet furiously attacks her. Angered, Vullaby attacks Rufflet as well with her Pluck move. Ash, Pikachu, and Scraggy try to stop them, but Vullaby sees and attacks them as well. While Vullaby is chasing after them, Iris and Cilan comfort a panicked and crying Rufflet. A young girl arrives at the scene, followed by a Petilil, Karrablast, and Whimsicott, and Rufflet and Vullaby run to them.

The girl takes Ash, Iris, and Cilan to the Pokémon Nursery where she works, and the nursery manager introduces her as Layla. Unfortunately, during their discussion, Rufflet and Vullaby begin fighting again. Although Layla calms Rufflet down, Vullaby becomes jealous of the attention he is receiving and refuses to make up with him. Witnessing this, Cilan states that he will help them to stop their rivalry and become friends. Cilan brings out his Cilan to play with the Pokémon and invites Vullaby to join in, which she happily does. Meloetta, invisible, watches the scene happily.

While the nursery manager leaves to go pick up more Pokémon, Cilan makes lunch for everyone. However, Layla becomes distressed when she realizes that she had forgotten to crack the shells on the Pokémon's food. Only Rufflet, it seems, can break the shell with its foot. Layla is impressed with Rufflet, which only serves to make Vullaby more jealous. In anger, Vullaby tries and fails to crack its own shell, which slips and hits Rufflet in the head. Within seconds, the two are squabbling again. However, Rufflet's attack misses Vullaby and hits Karrablast, who begins using Bug Buzz. Petilil and Whimsicott use their own attacks, and all three Pokémon have Punishment used on them by Vullaby. As all three Pokémon burst into tears, Meloetta appears and sings its song to calm them down. Later, Layla thanks Vullaby for her help but suggests that the Punishments may have been a little overdone. In response, Vullaby runs away from the nursery.

Layla and Cilan run after Vullaby, followed by Rufflet, while Ash and Iris stay behind to care for the other Pokémon. While running, Cilan explains to Layla that Vullaby misinterpreted her feelings about the attempt to help restore order, and Layla feels terrible about it. Meanwhile, Ash and Iris realize that Rufflet is missing as well. Ash and Pikachu go look to see if Rufflet had followed Layla. Vullaby, still on a path, trips on a rock and angrily kicks it into the bushes, where it hits an Amoonguss. The Amoonguss, as well as two others, chases Vullaby, and Layla and Cilan hear Vullaby's cries. They reunite with her, much to Layla's relief. However, the Amoonguss use Sludge Bomb to knock the three of them down, and Vullaby stands up to defend Layla. She is soon joined by Rufflet, who attacks all of the Amoonguss. Crustle uses Rock Slide to block off the path and they all flee while they can.

After this shared experience, Layla finally understands the source of Vullaby's anger, and she assures Rufflet and Vullaby that she will always care for both of them. However, in order to get back to the nursery, Cilan and Layla have to climb around a very narrow ledge to get to an old, crumbling bridge. As soon as Rufflet and Vullaby step on the bridge, it collapses, and Cilan just barely rescues them in time. While they are pondering what to do, Meloetta spots them and brings Ash to the other side of the broken bridge. In order to rescue Cilan, Layla, and the others, Ash has Pignite heft a log over the waters below to create a temporary bridge. Unfortunately, the wind begins to pick up and Rufflet and Vullaby fall from the bridge. While Cilan struggles to maintain his hold on the log to prevent himself from falling, Layla dives after them and swims them to safety on the riverbank.

Everyone returns to the nursery, much to Iris's relief. Rufflet and Vullaby finally manage to reach an understanding and stop fighting with each other. As the day ends, they all listen to a new song from Meloetta. However, they are unaware that the song is being recorded by TRT and Dr. Zager.
<!--https://www.pokemon.com/us/animation/seasons/14/episode-25-emolga-and-the-new-volt-switch/-->
<i>As Ash and his friends continue toward Nimbasa City for Ash’s next Unova Gym Badge, Bianca challenges Iris to a battle! Iris’s new companion Emolga quickly neutralizes Bianca’s Pignite with its powerful Attract, forcing Bianca to send out Minccino. But Emolga quickly grows tired of the battle and uses Volt Switch to escape, then bursts into tears when Iris protests. Iris and Bianca try to restart their battle, but Emolga isn’t interested, and keeps using Volt Switch to get away.

Cilan calls a halt to the battling for lunchtime, and while everyone is eating, Emolga sneakily uses Attract on several of the male Pokémon in order to steal their food! But once again, the cute Pokémon turns on the charm to defuse the situation, and then wanders off while the others are grabbing a post-lunch nap.

The still-smitten Axew and Oshawott follow, and it looks like Emolga is just trying to get everyone in trouble again…but Emolga’s true concern for its new friends reveals itself when an encounter with a menacing group of Watchog and an angry Simisear puts several of our heroes’ Pokémon in danger. Emolga finally springs into action and battles magnificently, saving the day!

In the aftermath, Bianca learns that Ash recently won his third Gym Badge, so she says goodbye to our heroes and heads back to the Castelia Gym to earn the Badge for herself. Ash, Cilan, and Iris once again set their sights on Nimbasa City!</i>

Plot
Iris walks ahead of everyone, humming happily to herself, which Ash remarks is because of her newly caught Iris. Bianca asks if she could battle Emolga against her Bianca, and Ash offers to battle with Pikachu, which Cilan says would be a shocking battle, as they both would be using Electric type. However, Iris accepts Bianca's offer and the group stops in the middle of a clearing to have their battle.

Iris calls out Emolga who poses cutely causing Bianca to let out a squeal before calling out her Pignite. Emolga lands a few hits with Hidden Power and Pignite retaliates with Heat Crash. Though before it could make contact, Emolga uses Attract to stop Pignite in his tracks. Bianca returns Pignite to his Poké Ball and calls out Bianca and has him use Attract. Emolga also uses Attract which cancels out Minccino's. Minccino charges in and begins Tickle Emolga who in desperation uses Volt Switch and forces Iris to come out of his Poké Ball. Cilan explains that Volt Switch forces the Trainer to swap the active Pokémon with another on in their party. Iris returns Excadrill to his Poké Ball and tells Emolga not to use Volt Switch against her command. Emolga flashes a cute face at Iris who forgives Emolga and places her back into the battle, much to Emolga's annoyance. Bianca orders Minccino to use Hyper Voice. As he inhales to launch the attack, Emolga uses Volt Switch and causes Cilan, who had been taking a nap inside his Poké Ball, to come out. Pansage is hit by the Hyper Voice, causing him to become furious and launch a Solar Beam at Minccino. Minccino is knocked out and Cilan claims Pansage as the victor.

Iris scolds Emolga for using Volt Switch without her command, which causes Emolga to pout cutely to Iris. Forgiving her once again, Iris and Bianca continue their battle, Bianca sending out Pignite. Emolga however isn't interested in battling and uses Volt Switch to send out Snivy then runs off. Ash battles Pignite with his Snivy while Iris searches for Emolga. She finds her sleeping in a nearby tree and, while everyone is watching, Snivy uses Vine Whip to get her down. Iris scolds Emolga who attempts to charm her Trainer. Iris doesn't fall for it this time, so Emolga Discharge except Snivy (who saw it coming and leaped away) instead. As they sit up Bianca comments about her hair after being electrocuted, causing Cilan to comment about her optimism. Ash's stomach growls so Cilan offers to make lunch.

Ash calls out all his Pokémon and Cilan gives them all apples to eat. Emolga downs her apple quickly and uses Attract on Oshawott, Tepig, Scraggy and Swadloon, causing them to give her all their apples. After lunch the Attract wears off and the Pokémon, realizing their lunch had suddenly disappeared, began fighting. Pikachu attempted to break up the fight, but only got hit by everyone's attacks. As the Trainers come over to break up the fighting, Pikachu electrocutes everyone causing them all to fall over. After getting back up, they try to figure out what exactly happened to the Pokémon's food and Cilan exclaims, "It's thinking time!" As they examine the Pokémon, Snivy lifts Emolga up and they notice Emolga seems much chubbier than the other Pokémon. Cilan explains that Emolga used Attract to get food from the other Pokémon. Iris gets angry at everyone ganging up on Emolga, and hugs her. Everyone apologizes for being too hard on Emolga. Emolga notices that Snivy sees right through her innocent act and the two exchange glares.

After putting everything away, Ash yawns loudly and says he's tired. Iris also yawns and Bianca suggests they all take a nap under the tree. As they're all resting in the shade, Emolga gets up and runs off into the forest. Iris, and Oshawott witness this and go after her as Snivy watches. Inside the forest, Emolga finds a tree full of apples as well as a trio of Watchog sitting in it. She's intimidated by the Watchog as Oshawott and Axew catch up to her. She claims to them that the Watchog attacked her and prevented her from getting the apples. Oshawott goes over and cuts down some apples using his scalchop and brings them over to Emolga and Axew. Furious, the Watchog attack the trio who dodge the attack, causing the Watchog to crash into a tree. As they get up from the crash, an enraged Simisear falls out of the tree. The Watchog apologize for disturbing it, and the Simisear scares them off with Flamethrower. It stomps towards Emolga, Oshawott, and Axew who are too intimidated to move.

Back at the tree, Pikachu tries waking Ash who notices Oshawott is gone. Iris wakes up and finds Axew and Emolga gone as well. She climbs up the tree and sees where they're at in the forest and the four of them go in to retrieve their Pokémon. Oshawott attempts to defend Emolga, who has departed to a nearby bush, and uses Razor Shell on the Simisear. It was futile however as Oshawott is easily sent flying into a tree and knocked out. Axew rushes over to Oshawott's side as the Simisear approaches Emolga. Emolga throws an apple core at the Simisear causing it to rampage and tear apart nearby foliage. As Emolga runs by Axew stops her, not wanting to leave Oshawott alone with the rampaging Pokémon. Simisear gets ready to punch the two when a vine wraps around its arm, holding back its fist. Snivy, who had been watching from a tree, saved Emolga and Axew. Simisear fires a Flamethrower at Snivy who gracefully dodges and lands beside Emolga and Axew. Emolga begins backing away but is brought back by Vine Whip.

Ash and co. arrive and Ash scans the Simisear into his Pokédex. Simisear fires a Flamethrower at Axew and Oshawott, but it is countered by Snivy's Leaf Blade. Before she could counterattack, the Simisear punches Snivy. Emolga decides to help and begins flying around and taunting the Simisear firing off sporadic Hidden Powers. The Simisear snaps and launches a heated Flamethrower at Emolga that just barely misses. Snivy pulls it off its feet with Vine Whip, sending its Flamethrower up into the air which hits a nearby cliff. This causes part of the cliff to break off and come plummeting towards the Simisear. As the Simisear is paralyzed in fear of being crushed, Emolga and Snivy reduce the boulder to pebbles using the combined power of Hidden Power and Leaf Storm. The Simisear gets up and sneers at the two before walking off into the forest. Emolga goes over and presents an apple to Snivy who splits it into three pieces for Axew and Emolga.

Returning to the clearing, Bianca comments on all the Pokémon Iris has managed to obtain thus far and Ash shows her the three Badges he's obtained. Astonished, Bianca realizes she needs to get her third Badge as well, and departs from the group.
