'''James''' (Japanese: '''コジロウ''' ''Kojirō'') is one part of of the [[Team Rocket]] trio that follows around [[Ash Ketchum]] and {{ashfr|friends}} in the [[Pokémon anime]], usually trying to steal [[Ash's Pikachu]], but always failing.

James is mostly a comedic parody of ''bishounen'' characters; the [[4Kids Entertainment|4Kids]] English dub in particular tends to give him a melodramatic and even campy tone. He is somewhat famous for carrying a rose, though in more recent episodes he does not display it as often. Mostly, his rose is displayed in the [[Team Rocket motto]].

==In the anime==
James is part of the famous bad guy organization called [[Team Rocket]]. He and his two partners in crime, [[Jessie]] and [[Meowth]] don't have a lot of luck.
{{incomplete|section}}
===Character===
[[File:James.png|left|thumb|220px|James]]
The only child of millionaires, James was forced to endure formal society while growing up. Often having to take part in numerous lessons and activities he had little to no interest in, he eventually began to grow weary of the rules and standards that appeared to be ever-present within the upper-class. At a young age, he was engaged to a girl, [[Jessiebelle]], whom we find out in [[DP153]] that he actually originally wanted to marry, until it quickly became obvious that she was obsessively controlling. Soon after the engagement was announced, James, not able to stand Jessiebelle's overbearing personality (to this day he remains terrified of her), ran away from home, leaving behind his beloved pet [[Growlie]]. He attempted to enroll in [[Pokémon Tech]], a {{pkmn|Trainer}}'s school, but, along with his new friend [[Jessie]], flunked out. Then, with Jessie, he joined the [[Sunny Town]] bicycle gang, where he was popular for being the only gang member to have to use training wheels (nicknamed "Trainer Jim"). Eventually James, Jessie, and the bike gang went their separate ways.

Due to conflicts in canon between [[Kanto]] and [[Johto]] episodes and the special episode ''[[H012|Training Daze]]'', what happened between James and Jessie after the bike gang is unknown. What ''is'' known, as shown in the special episode, is that they joined Team Rocket separately and were on initially unfriendly terms after being grouped with {{MTR}}. However, they quickly made up and the rest is history.

Surprisingly, James has shown to be relatively well versed in various activities, including Pokémon Haiku, [[Pokémon Orienteering]], and [[PokéRinger]] among other things, making him almost something of a "Jack of all Trades". It is possible that he developed his skills during his temporary separation from Jessie, or even from the many lessons he was enrolled in as a child, but this is not known for sure.

Perhaps due to his heavily enforced, sheltered upbringing, as well as the constant harassment that he had to endure from Jessiebelle as a child, James has an odd, somewhat submissive personality. He will regularly comply to whatever ideas the other two come up with, and when he doesn't, usually ends up doing so anyway, like when he was forced to trade his {{TP|James|Victreebel}} away. He also seems to be the most emotional amongst the Team Rocket trio, and if the three should ever happen to get separated, he'll seem very lost without his companions. James also appears to have the most conscience among the three (though all of them do to some degree or another), and is the least prone to backstabbing someone who is kind to him. He can actually be quite sinister when he wants to, however.
[[File:Younger James.png|thumb|250px|Younger James and Growlie]]
In the episode ''[[EP048|Holy Matrimony!]]'', James returned to his home as a result of a trap by his parents, who pretended to be dead in order to get him to come back to the estate, knowing he would return to pay his respects. He suspected that it was a trap, but he ended up being forced into participating by Jessie and Meowth, who wanted the fortune. After the deception was revealed, he was once again subjected to Jessiebelle's torment until Growlie came to his rescue. After temporarily chasing Jessiebelle away, James soon left his family's manor and as a result declined his inheritance. Growlie stayed behind upon James's request when he returned to Jessie and Meowth.
[[File:Jessie and James first appearance.png|220px|thumb|left|Jessie and James's first apperance in ''[[EP002|Pokémon Emergency!]]'']]
James has a tendency to be swindled by a [[Magikarp Salesman]], who, despite James's increasing wariness and personal vendetta against the shady character, has on many occasions tricked him into buying a Magikarp or other useless Pokémon and items for large sums of money.

James also has a [[List of Team Rocket's disguises|tendency to cross-dress]], but has not done it since ''[[AG050|Pros and Con Artists]]'', with the exception of the occasional impersonation of characters such as [[Nurse Joy]]'s and [[Officer Jenny]]'s. In fact, ''[[DP146|Dressed for Jess Success!]]'' marks the first time he cross dresses in the [[Diamond and Pearl]] anime series, though it was him disguised as [[Jessie]]. He also often dresses up like famous celebrities as well, such as [[Professor Oak]], [[Juan]], and [[Norman]], and impersonates other non-human objects, including Pokémon, animals, and even bushes and trees.

James loves rare bottle caps and has an impressive collection of them. This hobby started when he was a young child. In the episode ''[[EP184|All That Glitters!]]'' it is revealed that he has "drunk enough soda pop to float an aircraft carrier".

For unknown reasons, he, Jessie and Meowth mostly use [[Transportation in Pokémon|hot air balloons]] instead of faster ways of transportation. However in newer episodes the balloon is shown with 'jets' attached to explain how they get from one place to another faster than walking.

===Pokémon===
[[File:Team Rocket Hoenn.png|250px|thumb|right|Jessie and James and the Pokémon they traveled with in Hoenn]]
As the standards of the Team Rocket organization dictated, James was first shown with a Poison-type Pokémon. However, James seems to have a fondness for carnivorous (or at least dangerous) {{type2|Grass}} [[Pokémon]], owning {{p|Weepinbell}}, {{p|Victreebel}}, and {{p|Carnivine}}. It was shown during a flashback in ''[[DP082|Cream of the Croagunk Crop!]]'' how James, as a boy, found {{TP|James|Carnivine}} in the [[Great Marsh]]. It was trapped in the mud and James rescued it, the two forming a bond of friendship. It is not shown how he {{pkmn2|caught|captured}} Weepinbell, but he had owned it for a long period of time before its first appearance. The capture of a {{p|Cacnea}} early in Hoenn furthered his apparent preference for Grass-types. Often, when going into battle, his Grass Pokémon will show great affection towards James, which usually results in pain for him since all of them either have sharp teeth or spines. It is also shown that James develops a strong bond with each of his Pokémon in general; James almost treats them as his own children, and they in turn are all greatly attached to him. This could stem from the childhood memories he occasionally brings up, where it is shown that while growing up James hadn't really had any friends other than his Pokémon. When it comes time to leave a Pokémon behind for one reason or another, James often has great difficulty in letting go of his beloved friends.
Both Jessie and James appear in {{game|Yellow}} as in-game bosses. They first attack the main character in [[Mt. Moon]], while trying to take one of the rare [[fossil]]s uncovered there.

Later, in [[Celadon City]]'s [[Rocket Game Corner]], Jessie and James guard Giovanni's room in the Team Rocket base. During that time, as the player runs into them, they are eager for revenge after the main character busted up their plans at Mt. Moon.

They hold [[Mr. Fuji]] hostage at [[Pokémon Tower]]. They attack the main character on the seventh floor.

Finally, at [[Silph Co.]] in [[Saffron City]], Jessie and James make their final appearance, once again trying to stall the main character from reaching their Boss.
===Pokémon Puzzle League===
Along with many other anime characters, both Jessie and James appeared in [[Pokémon Puzzle League]], where they appeared with a Weezing, an Arbok, and a Golbat.

==In the TCG==
Jessie and James appear on both versions of the card {{TCG ID|Team Rocket|Here Comes Team Rocket!|15}}, which originally released in the {{TCG|Team Rocket}} set; it was re-released with different artwork in {{TCG|EX Team Rocket Returns}}. In that expansion, there was also a preconstructed {{TCG|Theme Deck}} based on {{TCG|James}}.

It is rumored that James may also be on the {{TCG|Gym Challenge}} set card {{TCG ID|Gym Challenge|Rocket's Secret Experiment|120}}, as there is a Rocket in the background, seen only from the back, who has his hairstyle, but what he may be doing in the lab is left to the imagination.

==Trivia==
[[File:Jessie and James.png|thumb|250px|James and Jessie]]
* Both [[Jessie]] and James have used a {{p|Charizard}} at separate times (Jessie having used two). None of the three remained in their care, however.
* James at times uses the name Jameson.
* James hasn't evolved any of his Pokémon since ''[[EP261|Here's Lookin' at You, Elekid!]]''.
* He is one of the only main characters to, after being given his first Pokémon, at one point not have any Pokémon on hand. This was in ''[[AG006|A Poached Ego!]]'' during the brief moment after he released {{TP|James|Weezing}} and before he caught {{TP|James|Cacnea}}. The other character was {{Ash}} briefly when he was traveling to [[Hoenn]].
* James is the only main character to have [[James's Victreebel|one Pokémon]] and release/give it away, then get [[List of Pokémon temporarily owned by Team Rocket#Victreebel|another Pokémon of the same species]].
* James and {{MTR}} are the only main characters to have their voice actors replaced during the [[4Kids Entertainment|4Kids]] run of the show, then again when [[The Pokémon Company International|Pokémon USA]] took over.
* James is, as of the most recent Japanese episode, the only Trainer on the main cast who has not yet owned a {{cat|Generation II Pokémon}} during the {{series|Diamond & Pearl}}.
** In fact, the only [[Generation II]] Pokémon James ''ever'' had was a {{DL|List of Pokémon temporarily owned by Team Rocket|Hoppip}}, though it flew away before he could put it in a Poké Ball.
* In the dub, both of James's Generation III Pokémon were given away in the second episode of a season which was recorded at a new studio from the prior. {{TP|James|Chimecho}} was left in the care of [[Nanny and Pop-Pop]] in the [[AG147|second episode of Battle Frontier]] (dubbed at TAJ), while {{TP|James|Cacnea}} was given to [[Gardenia]] in the [[DP054|the second episode of Battle Dimension]] (dubbed at DuArt). This is merely coincidence, however.
* James was the first main character to release [[List of Pokémon temporarily owned by Team Rocket#Gyarados|a Pokémon]].
* James was the first main character to be shown with both of their parents (although this would be equaled by [[Brock]], {{an|May}} and [[Max]] as the series went on).
* In ''[[EP051|Bulbasaur's Mysterious Garden]]'', James states he has "allergies" when talking about the pollen from the flowers. It is a possibility he suffers from hay fever, or something similar.
** Ironically, a running gag in the anime involves his {{type2|Grass}} Pokémon hurting him in a show of affection.
* In the main series games, James and [[Jessie]] are the only characters from [[Generation I]] to appear only in that generation, as they do not reappear in [[Generation II]] and [[Generation IV]] when Kanto is revisited, and (being exclusive to Pokémon Yellow) were not adapted into the [[Generation III]] [[Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen]] remakes.
* In the {{pmin|Latin America}}n Spanish dub, James usually says funny things, like referring to himself as "Johnny" or "Jamememes" in [[Team Rocket mottos|Team Rocket's motto]], and most of his dialogues are filled with local jokes.
* James is the only current main character who to date is known to not have entered a [[Pokémon Contest]] for himself yet, though he has let Jessie borrow his Pokémon many times.
** He does, however, enter one disguised as Jessilina in ''[[DP146|Dressed for Jess Success!]]'' and wins in place of Jessie, due to her being incapacitated at the time.
***This also makes him the first major character in the anime to win an official contest on his first try.

===Name origin===
James's English name is taken from {{wp|Jesse James}}, an American outlaw. His Japanese name, Kojiro, is taken from 佐々木小次郎 ''{{wp|Sasaki Kojirō}}'', a prominent Japanese swordsman most famous for being killed by his rival, 宮本武蔵 ''{{wp|Miyamoto Musashi}}'', the namesake of Jessie. Also, 二郎 ''Jirō'' is a name meaning "second son," while 三郎 ''Saburō'' means "third son." Kojiro takes advantage of ''Jirō'', while the Japanese name of [[Butch]], Kosaburo, takes advantage of ''Saburō''.

'''''Pokémon Sinnoh Handbook''''' by [[Tracey West]] and Katherine Noll is a handbook that was published in September 2007, and is one of the sequels to ''[[The Official Pokémon Handbook]]''. It served as a paper form of the [[List of Pokémon by Sinnoh Pokédex number|Sinnoh Pokédex]] from {{2v2|Diamond|Pearl}}. It contained an entry for all the [[Pokémon]] in the Sinnoh Pokédex. The front cover has pictures of the starter Pokémon ([[Chimchar]], [[Piplup]], and [[Turtwig]]) that you can choose from in the Diamond and Pearl games.

==Entries==
Each [[Pokémon]] with an entry either shares a page of the book with one other Pokémon or has a page to itself. Features include a summary, a picture of the Pokémon, and an evolution chain.

===Name===
Each entry is topped with a large red box. It has the Pokémon's name and its [[species]] (e.g. Shield Pokémon for {{p|Bastiodon}}).

===Stats===
On the side of the pages, the entries list the following stats:
# Name pronunciation
# Techniques (the basic and most commonly used [[moves]] of that Pokémon)
# [[Elemental types|Type]]
# [[List of Pokémon by height|Height]] (in feet and inches)
# [[List of Pokémon by weight|Weight]] (in pounds)

===Evolution chain===
At the very bottom of the entry there are pictures with arrows between them to show what the Pokémon evolves into. Pokémon that do not evolve do not have an evolution chain and instead have the words "DOES NOT EVOLVE".

==Other content==
The book also features an introduction to the book, a rundown of how each entry is laid out, an introduction to the Sinnoh region, an appendix about {{Ash}}, [[Brock]], {{an|Dawn}} and their current Pokémon (as of ''[[DP019|Twice Smitten, Once Shy]]''), and a poster of all the Pokémon in the [[List of Pokémon by Sinnoh Pokédex number|Sinnoh Pokédex]], as of {{2v2|Diamond|Pearl}}.

==Trivia==
===Errors===
*{{p|Abra}} and {{p|Alakazam}}'s [[species]] names are incorrectly listed as "Psychic Pokémon" instead of "Psi Pokémon".
*{{m|Bug Buzz}} is listed as "Big Buzz" on {{p|Kricketune}} and {{p|Mothim}}'s pages.
*{{p|Cherubi}}'s page repeats the move {{m|SolarBeam}}.
*{{m|Double Hit}}, {{m|Fling}}, {{m|Nasty Plot}}, and {{m|Last Resort}} are missing from {{p|Aipom}}'s page.
*{{p|Garchomp}} has {{m|Payback}} and {{m|Dark Pulse}} on its level-up move list, even though it can't learn these moves at all.
*On {{p|Geodude}}'s page, edge is misspelled as eye.
*On {{p|Golduck}}'s page, it is implied that {{Ash}} battled [[Katie]] twice, whereas he only battled her once.
*All instances of {{m|Guard Swap}} are listed as {{DL|Battle item|Guard Spec}}.
*On {{p|Mr. Mime}}'s page, sight is misspelled as site.
*{{p|Murkrow}}'s page lists a non-existent move, "Repeat".
*On {{p|Palkia}}'s page, {{m|Spacial Rend}} is misspelled as Spatial Rend.
*Though the Pokémon are supposed to be listed in alphabetical order, {{p|Steelix}} and {{p|Spiritomb}} are listed before {{p|Staraptor}}.
*Similarly, {{p|Gastrodon}} is listed before {{p|Gastly}}.
*{{p|Rotom}} is listed as a [[Legendary Pokémon]].
Some Bulbapedia members have formed a [[Bulbapedia:Project|project]] to better organize efforts to write and improve articles about '''Shipping'''. If you would like to help, please inquire on the [[{{NAMESPACE}} talk:{{PAGENAME}}|talk page]] or the [http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/forumdisplay.php?f=195 Bulbapedia forum] and see the [[Bulbapedia:Project Shipping/To-do list]].

==Project Shipping==
===Scope and aims===
Project Shipping covers all articles about Shipping. When developing new pages or adding to old ones, adhere to this: [[Bulbapedia:Shipping]] for guidance on content.

===Participation===
'''PLEASE READ''': "All" is a misnomer; it is impossible to actively construct articles for all the known Ships. Bulbapedia is also an encyclopedia, and encyclopedias are professional tools. All information is relevant if it relates directly to the medium it spawns from, and is FACT. It is fact Ash is oblivious to the many crushes he's gotten; it is not fact he might currently reciprocate on any of them.

Shipping articles do offer bias, as Shipping itself is as bias as it is factual. It's fact Shipping is a major part of the fandom; it's not fact everyone agrees with everything that will be represented as evidence. Therefore, if you are going to participate in cleaning up the articles or creating them, please be aware of what is acceptable within the article. You might insert information another does not believe belongs, even though it fits possible "evidence"; unlike the main space, information here is not judged the same, only because everything on the main space is generally ironclad and there is no room for fanon, weak evidence, or lazy information. In that frame of mind, even bias information is subject to disbelief, and can be deleted if the evidence is not sustainable.

tl;dr - Crap is still crap. You can grasp at straws, but you're better off not, for the sake of an article's integrity. Know your information, and if you have to, explain it coherently (just not over-glossed and embellished).

===Page Creation===
If you want to create an article that is not listed on the [[Bulbapedia:Project Shipping/To-do list|to-do list]], it would be wise to ''ask'' the current project leader if it's actually okay, with ''a valid argument for it''. There are over 6,000 Ships in the Pokémon fandom alone; not all of them deserve articles on the merit of existence alone.

AUGUST 21, 2009: There will be '''no more''' pages for nevermets without prior consultation with the Project Leader. Any future articles will need to have a founding basis for the article, and will be given a week-long trial on its worth. Meaning, unless it's an article on a somewhat canon interrelation, such as ChikoShipping, AdvanceShipping, or CollideShipping, it will be rightly judged if it's worth notability. So before publishing the page, please construct it to an adequate size. If there is little to be said for the couple past popularity and straw-clutching (IkariShipping), then chances are it's not worth it. However, we will be the judge of that, if it's worth its weight or not.

===Structure===
====Title====
All articles should be known as 'Shipping:{name}Shipping' and a page, '{name}Shipping' should be created with only the template <nowiki>{{Shipping redirect}}</nowiki>. There is no need to put <nowiki>{{Shipping redirect|PAGENAME}}</nowiki> because the template has that covered.

Also, at the start of each article in the Shipping namespace you should add a [[Template:Ship|<nowiki>{{ship}}</nowiki>]] template so as to warn people.

If the article is a stub, use the template mentioned below.

====Evidence Content====
The manual of style for all Shipping pages are going to follow a set structure, henceforth. All Shipping pages are, from here on in, either going to go through a major overhaul, or will be using this style from the get-go. Style should be:

<nowiki>
* ''[[DP001|TITLE]]''
: Hint that such-and-such may overgrossly perhaps CARE for the cretin.
* ''[[DP038|TITLE]]''
: Hint that such-and-such may want to have the cretin's children.
: Oh wait, new paragraph if the above one hint carries on for too long! Possibly still talking about them having children!
* ''[[DP099|TITLE]]''
: Hint that such-and-such may like a second honeymoon with the cretin. Oh look, another hint that shouldn't begin a new paragraph because both are only a sentence long.</nowiki>

However best this information is cataloged is at your own discretion (in individual person's sections, or if their interactions are heavily interlaced, go simply for one list that contains them both), but please remain concise and neat.

It is recognized, however, not all articles will allow for adequate usage of the above template to get maximum evidence integration, and if that is the case, please utilize a style that will properly capture the evidence (but ''only'' as an alternative). Examples include [[AkebiShipping]], [[FireShipping]], and [[HoennShipping]].

====Categorize====
All articles are to be properly categorized according to character involvement and in this order of descending, applicable labels:
<nowiki>
[[Shipping|PAGENAME]]
[[Anime|PAGENAME]]
[[Game (whichever one they come from OR if they are a cross-gen 'ship)|PAGENAME]]
[[Manga|PAGENAME]]
[[OLDER male character]]
[[YOUNGER male character]]
[[OLDER female character]]
[[YOUNGER female character]]
[[Gym Leaders]]
[[Orange Crew]]
[[E4 members]]
[[Frontier Brain]]
[[Team Rocket/Magma/Aqua/Galactic]] (in that order)
[[Movie character]]
[[CoTD]]
[[Pokémon]]</nowiki>

*If you cannot tell who is older when dealing with homosexual Ships, then likely no one else can and it doesn't matter the order.
*No individual Pokémon is to have their own category, not even {{AP|Pikachu}}.
*If the character is not important (a movie character of any level, a COTD), they should not have their own category. If you think they should, ask the project leader first and state why you think they should have a category.
*The conditions for a '''recurring''', secondary character to have their own category is to have at least '''three''' Shipping articles they are involved in.
:*"Recurring" in this case means they have showed up on two separate occasions (not how many episodes they've appeared in), are confirmed battle rivals, or briefly joined the group, a la Barry and Todd. Brief cameos do not count.
*If a character falls under any the categories between the ''Gym Leaders'' and ''Pokémon'' ones in the above list, they do not get their own category without a convincing argument or enough Ships to require one (six or more).
*If one character is from the game and another is from the anime, we'll cross that bridge later (though you shouldn't be crossing canons so blatantly and expect a legit article). If they can cover two mediums legitimately, please list them in corresponding order.
*If Brock or Misty are involved and the other involved isn't one, it is ''not'' necessary to add the ''Gym Leader'' category. If Jessie or James are involved, it is ''not'' necessary to add the ''Team Rocket'' category (Meowth and Giovanni do, as they do not—and will not—have their own categories), unless the other character involved is a Rocket member. Treat Wallace as a ''Gym Leader'', not an ''Elite Four'' member.
*If the media (the side-game, the specific manga) the characters are from don't even have '''twelve''' articles under them, they do not warrant character categories at all.

====Further Notes====
''Nevermetshippings'' should be labeled accordingly, such as [[OysterShipping]], [[RubyShipping]], [[OutcryShipping]], et cetra. Until they do meet, there will be no "hints", but "similarity" sections are allowed, as are reasons why people Ship them in the first place. However, please do not add bias information; no nevermet Ship has risen to the popularity of the others, so they do not rival ''anything'' within the fandom's top tier.

Nonrecurring Ships, such as [[LuckShipping]], [[DanceShipping]], [[AbilityShipping]], [[FireShipping]], where the person does not, or has not, thusly returned after the heroes move on (regardless how many episodes that character was around for), should be analyzed to the nth degree (but not written be-all-end-all). Please use [[GaiaShipping]] as an example of how to handle those sorts of circumstances.

Please also do not assume that a standard for one carries over as a standard for another. This concerns the "Alternate name" business. If you've seen it with your own eyes, you may document it, UNLESS it's another Ship name that isn't on the list (the only current exception to this is "FarawayShipping" to OutcryShipping).

===Goals===
# Write comprehensive and upstanding articles on Ships.
##This means they are to be substantial, well written (even if they are short articles), and with substance.
# Ensure that all hints/evidence/facts are in the originating media and not from fanfiction. All fanon information is to be eliminated.
##All given hints/evidence/facts should also be meaningful and not tossed in there because it made the Shipper in you go squee.
Out of all the Zero Isle divisions, it is the hardest dungeon in the entire game. It is also the only dungeon that has 99 floors total. Players must start at Level 1, have no items in their [[Treasure Bag]] or any [[Poké]], travel alone without any partners, and cannot recruit any wild Pokémon. This is the ultimate dungeon of the sequel, much like how [[Purity Forest]] is the ultimate dungeon of the first game.
It is one of the hardest dungeons in the game. Unlike [[Zero Isle North]], the player can gain [[Experience]] points. However, the player must start at Level 1 and can only bring 16 items with them. The player's level and stats will be restored once they leave the dungeon and will retain any items found within. Zero Isle East has a total of 40 floors and its Pokémon cannot be recruited.

At the end of the dungeon, the player can pick up a treasure chest and the White Silk.
It is one of the hardest dungeons as it has Pokémon that can be as high as Level 90 and cannot be recruited. Also, the player will not earn any [[Experience|Experience points]]. The dungeon itself consists of 75 floors, which contributes to the difficulty of the setting.

At the end of the dungeon, the player can pick up two Wonder Gummis, the Golden Mask, and the Wonder Chest.
