Cher (Japanese: シオン Shion) is one of the characters of the day in Beauties Battling for Pride and Prestige!. She is a member of the "Flower Garden<!-- Opera--> Troupe", the most popular theater group in the Unova region, along with Moira and Mona.

She was taking a walk with Moira and Mona and their Pokémon, when Iris's Emolga bumped into Moira's Cinccino by accident. Soon, Ash, Iris, and Cilan showed up. She introduced herself together with other girls and laughed when Moira called Iris's Emolga and Ash's Snivy ugly. This made Iris furious, and she tried to chase after Cher and the other two. However, before Iris could catch them, they escaped in their RV.

Ash, Iris and Cilan managed to find out where the castle of the girls was located and got inside, having dressed up in real ladies' attire. Cher, like Moira and Mona, did not recognize them from earlier. Moira then offered a competition against them.

Further inside the building, they each faced off one on one by each choosing one Pokémon. The two chosen Pokémon had to stand on a balance beam and one had to try to push the other into muddy water. Cher and her Roserade were up first against Cilan and his Cilan and easily won. Another competition was held, but this time the two Pokémon had to battle against each other in a regular battle. Cher was up against Iris and her Emolga and lost this time, even falling into the muddy water together with her Roserade.

Like the other two girls, Cher has a very arrogant personality. Like Mona, she seems to agree with everything Moira says. She seems to be the most masculine of the three, her design being based on the bifauxnen anime characters, which are woman with masculine traits and clothing.
I think the page would look cleaner if the outside of battle image was moved to the infobox, istead of just floating around on the page and making it look untidy. This should also be done for other moves with out of battle images. :::I actually support this idea (for Fly and the pictures/animations that exist for other moves usable outside of battle), because nearly every other image associated with a move (mainly, anime and manga usages; and past-generation game depictions) is located in a gallery specifically reserved for that type of image, making the "outside of battle" example images look somewhat out of place in comparison. In my opinion, moving such images to the infobox would help articles appear to be arranged better. Fenyx4 09:13, 20 November 2011 (UTC)
::::This looks like a fantastic idea, I think we should do this for all moves that have an effect out of battle. :Magnet Rise is a completely different move. It allows a Pokemon to levitate over Ground-type attacks. The manga usually stays true to the games move-wise, so when a Trainer is flying on a Pokemon's back, it's usually Fly. ...um, running? There have been several parts where Garchomp is flying... when its fighting Cyrus in Celestic Town, in Veilstone City, and on Spear Pillar to name three off the top of my head. == Capture ==

Is it worth noting that (in Emerald at least), Poké balls can be successfully thrown at wild Pokémon in the semi-invulnerable turn of Fly? I tried to catch Rayquaza several times in this way but it broke free of the Ball. Also, this is slightly off-topic, but I have confirmed that in Pearl and White, the semi-invulnerable stage of Shadow Force and Dig prevents capture. —<small><span style="color:#444444">Team Magma</span> <span style="color:#A00000">Zangoose ⚡</span></small> 02:19, 30 September 2012 (UTC)
While on Chuchu's page, it said that it knows fly. Should Chuchu go under the Manga section, or do we not count it because she's not really flying, just using balloons. If the latter is the case, then we will have to remove Fly from Chuchu's page. Iml908 (talk) 21:07, 14 November 2012 (UTC)
:Here's the thing:
#First of all, we don't base an article on another article, one does not have to agree with the other, except for layout in some cases.
#The move Fly has been used by the Flying Pikachu in the TCG and depicted as a Pikachu wrapped by strings with floating balloons. A Pikachu with Fly could also be found in the Pokéwalker Area Yellow Forest, whose artwork had exactly the same situation. However, for some reason, Bulbapedia staff does not believe that a move is legitimate if it needs an object that does not belong to the Pokémon (even with examples like Genesect's Drives and Rotom's home appliances).
:So, the only thing we can do here so far is to leave this information in the Trivia section, and try to make productive edits in other articles. ==Y==
Just noticed that Charizard has "Y" as alt text in the chart for Pokémon that can learn Fly via HM (indicating that it can learn Fly in Yellow, but not Red/Blue/Green). The meaning of that tag has become a lot more ambiguous, now that there is a "Pokémon Y" as well as a "Mega Charizard Y". It's probably simple enough to change the alt text, but I wanted to bring this to someone's attention in case this problem exists elsewhere on the wiki as well. --AndyPKMN (talk) 17:08, 9 November 2013 (UTC)
Fly (Japanese: そらをとぶ Fly) is a damage-dealing Flying move introduced in Generation I. It is HM02 in all generations.

Effect
In battle
Generation I
On the turn that Fly is selected, the user will fly up high, where the only attacks it cannot avoid are Bide, Swift, and Transform. On the following turn, Fly will inflict damage, PP will be deducted from it, and it will count as the last move used. Once Fly is selected, the user will be unable to switch out unless Fly is disrupted or fully executed.

If Fly is not fully executed, PP will not be deducted from it, and it will not count as the last move used. If the opponent uses Mirror Move during the turn that the user flies up high, Mirror Move will copy the move that the user executed immediately before using Fly (or fail if it cannot).

Full paralysis and self-inflicted damage due to confusion will disrupt Fly. Additionally, if the user is fully paralyzed during the semi-invulnerable turn of Fly, it will not be reset until the user switches out or fully executes Fly.

From Pokémon Stadium and on, Fly will allow the user to avoid Bide. Full paralysis will reset the semi-invulnerable turn of Fly. Mirror Move will copy Fly on either of the turns it takes to execute.

Pokémon can be caught during the semi-invulnerable stage of Fly.

Generation II
The user can now also be hit by Gust, Thunder, Twister, and Whirlwind during the semi-invulnerable turn of Fly, and will receive double damage from Gust and Twister, unless the flying Pokémon would not receive damage from the moves.

The user may also be hit in the air if it was previously targeted by Lock-On or Mind Reader, and then struck the following turn. Swift, Bide and Transform no longer hit on their own during the semi-invulnerable turn of Fly.

Generation III
The user can now also be hit by Sky Uppercut during the semi-invulnerable turn of Fly.

Generation IV
Same as Generation III, however, the base power has increased from 70 to 90. The user is now unable to avoid moves used by Pokémon with the Ability No Guard during the semi-invulnerable turn of Fly, and unable to avoid moves if it has No Guard.

If a Power Herb is held by the user, Fly can be executed in one turn.

Generation V-VI
The user can now also be hit by Hurricane during the semi-invulnerable turn of Fly.

The user can be "knocked out of the sky" with the move Smack Down.

Fly can hit non-adjacent opponents in Triple Battles.

Outside of battle
Players can fly to select spots they've been to; other than the Johto Battle Frontier, which can automatically be accessed after the National Pokédex is obtained.

The player usually lands outside the entrance to the area's Pokémon Center, or another equivalent spot if the area lacks a Pokémon Center.
Trivia
* In Colosseum, Charizard and Salamence dive into the ground on the second turn of Fly.
* Many Pokémon which are noted for their ability to fly over long distances are unable to learn this move, such as Yanmega, which is easily capable of transporting an adult in flight according to its Pokédex entry from HeartGold and SoulSilver.
** Conversely, some of the Pokémon that can learn Fly, like Pidgey, appear to lack the physique required to transport a human being in flight.
* Doduo and Dodrio are both able to learn Fly, despite being based on flightless birds.
**If Fly is used by either Pokémon in the 3D side-series games, they will be shown running in midair.
* Despite the abundance of Pokémon, none of these can learn Fly.
* Fly cannot travel between even the closest of areas in Kanto and Johto, despite being able to fly over either of the regions. This is most evident at Mt. Silver and 27. However, in , any area in either region can be flown to from Indigo Plateau and 26.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Pokémon Trainer uses Fly as its Up Special move. It cloaks itself in fire as it rotates in the air while gaining height, damaging nearby enemies. It acts as a recovery move for returning to the stage.
