Squitter: Fixed incorrect Japanese romanizations.

An in-game trade is a trade made with a non-player character within the course of a main series Pokémon game. They are usually for Pokémon that are difficult or impossible to obtain through other means, or for Pokémon unavailable at that point of the game. In later games, the traded Pokémon often has special moves, like egg moves.

The Trainer conducting the in-game trade will—in every case but one—specify a Pokémon they want to trade for. The Pokémon the player receives in the trade will have fixed OT and ID numbers; in later games the held items, natures, and IVs are fixed as well. Each Pokémon, likewise, has a nickname.

Like Pokémon traded externally, the traded Pokémon will be treated as an "outsider", and gain a boosted amount of experience points in battle. Until Generation V, all Pokémon have the same level as the Pokémon it was traded for (except in ).

Generation I
All Trainer ID numbers and IVs are random in Generation I.
Unused trades
In Generation I, there are two unique trades which were implemented into and Yellow but were never assigned to any NPC in game. From the player's perspective, these are a Butterfree for Beedrill trade and a Pidgeot for Pidgeot trade respectively. The nickname of the traded Beedrill, originally known as "チクチク" in was <!--romanised--> converted to "CHIKUCHIKU" in . For unknown reasons, the data for this trade remained in Yellow, though the nickname of the Beedrill was changed to "STINGER". Pokémon Yellow introduced the unused Pidgeot for Pidgeot trade. The nickname of the received Pidgeot is "MARTY". The significance of these trades are unknown.
Trivia
* Since the Pokémon received in an in-game trade is the same level as the one traded prior to Generation V, it is sometimes possible to receive a Pokémon at a lower level than normally possible.
** Electrode does not evolve from Voltorb until level 30, but can be obtained by trading a level 3 Raichu which has been caught in Viridian Forest and evolved by Thunderstone. This trade can be made in FireRed and LeafGreen and Red and Blue (Red and Green in Japan).
** Machop evolves into Machoke at level 28 (though can be found as low as level 15 in Generation II's Rock Tunnel) and then Machamp by trading. By breeding a Cubone in Generation II and trading it to Yellow, Machamp can be obtained at level 5.
** Dragonair evolves from Dratini at level 30, and in Gold and Silver can be traded for a Rhydon which does not normally evolve from Rhyhorn until level 42. In Crystal and HeartGold and SoulSilver, the same trade is for a Dodrio, which does not normally evolve until level 31. Dragonair can also be fished at a level as low as 10 on 45, but only in Generation II.
*** A Level 15 Rhydon can be obtained in Yellow by Surfing on 6 for a Level 15 Golduck and trading with a Trainer in the Pokémon Lab.
** Gloom evolves at level 21, but can be traded for a Rapidash which does not normally evolve until level 40. This occurs only in Gold and Silver. In Crystal and HeartGold and SoulSilver the trade is replaced by a Haunter for a Xatu (which in turn can be traded for a level 19 Haunter found on 8, given that neither evolve until level 25).
** Dugtrio evolves at level 26, but can be traded for a Magneton (which does not normally evolve until level 30) in Crystal and HeartGold and SoulSilver.
* If the player equips Haunter with an Everstone in Crystal, trading it to the NPC for his Xatu will not prevent its evolution.
* Before Generation IV, Pokémon eggs hatched at level 5, but some could be caught in the wild as low as level 2. In-game trades allow these to be traded for Pokémon which normally cannot be found below level 5. In Pokémon Blue (Japan), a level 2 Pidgey and Rattata and level 3 Jigglypuff can be traded for Farfetch'd, Poliwag and Mr. Mime, respectively. In Ruby and Sapphire, a level 3 Pikachu obtained from FireRed and LeafGreen can be traded for a level 3 Skitty, which in turn can be traded in Emerald for a level 3 Meowth.
* HeartGold and SoulSilver were the first games to feature in-game trades with Gym Leaders: Lt. Surge, Brock, and Jasmine.
Ash Ketchum (Japanese: サトシ Satoshi) is the main character of both the Pokémon anime and the Electric Tale of Pikachu manga, and is believed to be based on the Red of the first generation Pokémon games. He shares his Japanese name -- which can be taken to mean "wisdom" or "reason" (智) -- with the creator of the Pokémon franchise, Satoshi Tajiri. His English surname is a pun of the original English motto, "Gotta Catch 'em All!."
Character
Ash's main goal in life, as described in the first episode, is to be the world's greatest Pokémon Master. Ash began his journey at the age of 10 as a warm-hearted and well-intentioned but stubborn, rash and amateurish Pokémon Trainer. He was forced to accept the cheeky Pikachu from Professor Oak as his starter Pokémon because he carelessly broke his alarm clock and woke up late on the day he was set to get his first Pokémon. He was determined to achieve his goal, however, and when Pikachu saw that he was willing to compromise his own safety to keep it safe he formed a strong bond of friendship with Pikachu. This would set his course for the future.

However, from that point, Ash still had a lot to learn about becoming a Trainer. His first Pokémon was caught by luck, he knew absolutely nothing about battling, and was hesitant to admit it whenever he was wrong. Many of his first Gym badges were given to him merely out of gratitude for his assistance rather than claiming an actual victory in battle over the Gym Leaders; of his first five gym battles, only his victory over Lt. Surge was an actual victory. Every time he thought he was doing well, he would somehow cross paths with his childhood rival, Gary Oak. He always reminded Ash that he was always a step or seven behind, with Gary catching around forty-five Pokémon by the time Ash had only caught his seventh. This hampered matters further when, owing to his inexperience, his Charizard, his most powerful Pokémon, refused to listen to him until Ash could prove himself to the powerful Fire-type.

Over time, Ash's dedication to his goal paid off. After earning his first eight badges he went on to compete in the Indigo League, advancing to the fifth round - one further than Gary. After recovering from his defeat, he continued on to improve his skills; take on new challenges; and compete in more Pokémon League competitions - triumphing in the Orange League and the Battle Frontier.

Ash has changed a great deal over the course of the series, particularly in regards to his skill at Pokémon training, but his earnestness, rashness, and determination have remained. Never straying from his goal, he has remained loyal to his friends, his family, and his supporters, but most of all his Pokémon. Ash became a great Trainer by learning to find and use the inner strength of each of his Pokémon by bonding with them. For example, when he received a banner filled with prints from his Pokémon in The Unbeatable Lightness of Seeing!, he knew which Pokémon placed specific prints, showing his close bond with them. He also learns where their hidden abilities lie, as well as resorting to unorthodox strategies when fighting particularly challenging opponents. For example, he uses his Pikachu's speed to outmaneuver larger foes and attack. In another instance, his Charizard defeated Gary's Blastoise by causing the field to overheat before mounting a close-quarters attack while Blastoise was blinded by the steam. He also prefers to train a Pokémon to be the best it can without forcing it to evolve, as evidenced by his treatment of Gligar in Fighting Fear With Fear!. He is happy when his Pokémon evolve but lets them choose whether or not they want to evolve instead of forcing them.

Early on, Ash originally trained not to further himself but instead to catch more Pokémon than Gary. He later slowed his pace which allowed him to focus on the individual traits of each Pokémon. At the Johto League Silver Conference, with great humility and maturity, Ash finally won a battle against his old rival, signifying a great milestone in his history. His maturity has also increased in his dealings with Pokémon. This is shown when a Mankey stole his hat in Primeape Goes Bananas, he screamed and yelled at it, even climbing trees just to get his hat back, but when an Aipom did the same in Slaking Kong, he stated merely that he would feel strange without a hat. When Aipom stole his hat again in Setting the World on its Buneary, however, while it was under his ownership, he chased after it in the same manner as before.

In most episodes of the anime, especially those during the Johto League saga, Ash befriends someone who will influence him and cause him to strive to become a better Trainer. Although he is not a dependent individual, he is still young and has learned to make his way relying on his friends, particularly the maternal skills of Brock. The honor of "best friend" is usually reserved for Pikachu but Ash has come to see his closest human friends in the same light over time; using the term for Misty and Brock in Gotta Catch Ya Later as well as May and Max in Battling the Enemy Within.

He has traversed much of the Pokémon world and has thus far participated in four Pokémon League regional competitions, but he is still learning new things about Pokémon all the time.

Ash has gained a close connection with many legendary Pokémon, including Mewtwo, Ho-Oh, Lugia, Latias, Azelf, Shaymin, Giratina and Arceus. In the English dub of the second movie, he was revealed to be "The Chosen One" - the one who would bring balance back to the world when it was disrupted. Although viewed as a normal human, Ash does have some special abilities, as he is said to have the same aura as Sir Aaron, a legendary hero, and is theoretically able to manipulate it in much the same way. However, he has not received any training in this field, opting to continue his Pokémon journey instead. He has also been likened to an ancient aura guardian in The Keystone Pops!, who also had a partner Pikachu. Later, in Pokémon Ranger and the Kidnapped Riolu! Parts 1 and 2, Ash uses aura again to locate a lost Riolu and read Riolu's mind as well.

He has a Contest Pass for the Sinnoh region, though he has stated that the contest he got it for was the only one he intends on entering. He also has one for the Hoenn region as it was required to watch one of the contests held there. Ash carries half of a broken Poké Ball with him everywhere, while Gary has the other half, as a symbol of their ongoing, but now friendly, rivalry; Misty's special lure, which she sent to him as a gift; and half of a ribbon he received in a contest against May before she left the group to compete in Johto. Ash also participated in the Wallace Cup on the suggestion of Wallace but he lost in the third round.

Family
Ash lived with his mother, Delia Ketchum, until he left for his Pokémon journey at the age of ten.

His father was never introduced. The anime suggests that his father was once a Pokémon Trainer who began his journey in Pallet Town, but it is unclear whether he is still living. An interview with the series' storyboarder confirmed Ash's father is a Trainer on his own journey. According to the same storyboarder, Ash's father may or may not be introduced in the series, depending on its necessity to Ash's further maturity and development as a Trainer.

Ash is an only child, breaking from the tradition of several other main characters, with the exception of Dawn and possibly Tracey, whose siblings are often a foil or focal point in their lives.
<br clear="left">

Pokémon
As a Trainer, Ash has captured and befriended a sizable number of Pokémon over the course of the anime. His philosophy on training is that Pokémon are individuals and that a combination of trust, friendship and hard work are needed to overcome adversity. He seems to battle best with Pokémon that are similar to Pikachu: ones that are speedy and maneuverable, yet able to perform high-powered attacks; however, he is willing to work with any Pokémon that comes into his care. Ash's battle style is generally spontaneous and fairly unorthodox, and his Pokémon often reflect these traits.
Manga
In the Ash and Pikachu manga
Ash appears in Ash and Pikachu, a manga series based on the Johto saga of the Pokémon anime.

In The Electric Tale of Pikachu manga
Ash Ketchum is featured in The Electric Tale of Pikachu, a manga series based on the anime. Ash's journey in The Electric Tale of Pikachu follows roughly the same plot as in the anime: first traveling the Kanto region to participate in the Pokémon League, before embarking on a journey around the Orange Archipelago.

While there are many similarities between the anime and manga versions of Ash, there are several differences as well. For example, while the anime version of Ash is indifferent to love, romance, or members of the opposite gender (or arguably, the same), the manga version of Ash has a huge crush on Gary's sister, May Oak. He is also prone to quickly falling in love just like Brock, but to a much more subtle or less extreme degree.

Ash's appearance is very different in the manga, too. Ash wears a red jacket much like Red. He also wears a very different hat throughout the first volume. However, in the sixth chapter, To Evolve or Not to Evolve, That Is the Question! he wears a hat that resembles the hat he wears in the Pokémon anime. He appears with his Pikachu on his shoulder.
Trivia
Pokémon
* Ash has captured each generation's Grass starter Pokémon: Bulbasaur, Chikorita, Treecko and Turtwig.
* Ash has also captured every Fire starter Pokémon whose first form begins with a 'C': Charmander, Cyndaquil and Chimchar.
*Ash has captured, befriended, used, or otherwise had under his command at least one of every type of Pokémon except for Dark and Steel.
* In both the Kanto and Johto story arcs, Ash managed to capture all three of the starter Pokémon for both regions. This trend was broken in the Advanced Generation, where he only captured Treecko; instead the other two were caught by May and Brock.
* The last Pokémon that Ash has captured in every region are a part of Pokémon that are part of a two-stage evolutionary line, namely Phanpy in Johto, Snorunt in Hoenn, and Dawn in Kanto. Of these four, Aipom is the only one not to evolve under Ash's care.
* He always catches a local bird-like Pokémon of the region - Pidgeotto in Kanto, Noctowl in Johto, Taillow in Hoenn, and Starly in Sinnoh. Though not all of these Pokémon were captured in their first form, they all evolved into their final forms under Ash's care; the exception being Noctowl, who cannot evolve.
* All together, Ash has seen at least twenty-seven different species of legendary Pokémon, and at least ten of them multiple times.
* All of Ash's primate-based Pokémon have been under the control of someone other than Ash at some point (Primeape is currently under Anthony's command, Dawn was under Dawn's ownership and is currently being trained in Vermilion City, and his Infernape was formerly owned by Paul).
**All three of these primate-based Pokémon were also shown evolving on-screen, and none of them evolved in the care of their original Trainer (Primeape evolved in the wild just prior to Ash capturing it, Ambipom evolved under Dawn's care, and Infernape (also as a Monferno) evolved under Ash's ownership).
* Ash also captured a member of each turtle-based evolutionary family.
* Three members of Ash's Sinnoh party have evolved whilst battling Paul; these are Grotle, Staraptor, and Monferno. Of those three, Grotle and Staraptor both evolved while battling Paul's Honchkrow.
* Ash has stopped capturing more than his limit of six pokémon.
* Ash has two fully-evolved Grass starter Pokémon (Sceptile and Torterra) and two fully-evolved Fire starter Pokémon (Charizard and Infernape), however, neither of his Water starter Pokémon (Squirtle and Totodile) have evolved at all, or even indicated their desire to.
* Ash has several Pokémon in common with his current rivals; Paul and Barry. He and Paul both own a Torterra and have owned a Gliscor as well as both training the same Chimchar at some point. Like Ash, Barry owns a Staraptor and a Heracross. Other rivals of Ash's have had alike Pokémon; Gary has also owned a Squirtle and a Krabby, Morrison has a Gligar, and Tyson has a Sceptile and Donphan. Both had them on their league teams before Ash would later obtain them himself.
* All of Ash's Flying-types that he still owns, except for Charizard, have two immunities. Gliscor is immune to Electric- and Ground-types. Noctowl, Swellow, and Staraptor are all immune to Ghost- and Ground-types.

Challenges/Gym related
* In each region (except for the Orange Islands), Ash always loses against at least one of the Gym Leaders before challenging them to a rematch.
* In the original series, Ash pinned his badges to the inside of his jacket. From Hoenn onwards, they have been kept in a case.
* Ash has so far battled five Elite Four members, namely Lorelei, Drake, Agatha, Flint and Bertha. He has lost to all five without defeating a single Pokémon of theirs.
** In all of these battles, except Bertha, Ash used Pikachu in each one.
* The largest amount of episodes that Ash has gone without obtaining a badge was the gap between the Snowpoint and Sunyshore Gyms, ends in DP179, where Ash finally won the Beacon Badge. The gap was a total of 52 episodes. The shortest amount of time between badges was the one-episode gap between Showdown in Pewter City and The Water Flowers of Cerulean City.

Miscellaneous
* The date of Ash's birth, according to Takeshi Shudo's anime novelizations, is 10 years, 10 months, and 10 days exactly prior to the day he began his Pokémon journey. Being that the same novelization declares that Pokémon Trainers obtain their first Pokémon in April of the year following their 10th birthday, and the anime itself began broadcast on the first of that month in 1997 in Japan, Ash's birthday, if April 1 was the first day of his journey, would be May 22.
* Ash has crossdressed once in each anime series: The first time he did this was in Pokémon Scent-sation!, in the original series. He crossdressed a second time in Love at First Flight, in the Advanced Generation. Tanks for the Memories! marked the third time he crossdressed, in the Diamond & Pearl. Each time Ash has crossdressed, he was never willing to do so and was coerced or forced into it in some way.
** In addition to dressing as a girl, Ash has dressed up as fruit on at least two occasions. The first time, he dressed as an apple in Pokémon Food Fight! while the second he dressed as an eggplant in Claydol Big and Tall. On both occasions he was used to lure a large Pokémon.
* Several of the variety of ash trees, from which his name could be derived, are related to Kanto in some way: not only are there trees known as the "red ash", "green ash", and "blue ash", for the first three games, but also the "indigo ash", for the Indigo Plateau.
* Arnold and Travis are both doppelgängers of Ash. His first meeting with both of their mothers was being mistaken for them and embraced in a hug as the boys were away from home at the time.

Miror B. (Japanese: ミラーボ Mirorbo) is a character from Colosseum and XD: Gale of Darkness.

In Pokémon Colosseum, Miror B. is one of the four Cipher Admins. A man with a gigantic two-toned Afro (which resembles a Poké Ball turned on its side), garish glasses, and dressed in a golden sequin-studded leisure suit. Miror B. is loud and flamboyant. He spoils his Ludicolo, and would rather spend time teaching them how to dance than fulfilling his duties as a Cipher admin. An example of this is seen in Pyrite Town, where he basically let his grunts do whatever they wanted as long as they left him alone to practice his dancing.

He is the only one of the Cipher admins to not receive a Legendary Pokémon. Alternatively, he is the only admin to have his own theme music. His theme is Latin style music in Pokémon Colosseum, and disco style music in Pokémon XD, and whenever he is about to engage in a battle, he is known to exclaim, "Let the music play!"

His name is probably derived from disco.

In Colosseum
Miror B. makes his first appearance in Phenac City "terrorizing" the mayor, Es Cade. He sent some of his minions to attack Wes and Rui and announced that Cipher was behind the strange crime wave that had hit Orre.

Later, Miror B. is found in Pyrite Town, where he has kidnapped a Plusle belonging to the town's hero, Duking, and is holding the Pokémon hostage. With Duking unable to do anything, Miror B. ran the Pyrite Colosseum and handed out Shadow Pokémon to winners.

Silva attempts to foil the scheme by sneaking into Miror B.'s Hideout, but is defeated by the guards, at wich point Wes and Rui show up and rescue him.

When Wes first confronts Miror B., his Pokémon are four Ludicolo. He also had a Shadow Sudowoodo. This Sudowoodo is later replaced by Armaldo. Miror B.'s battle strategy consists of using Rain Dance and Leech Seed to regenerate the health of his Pokémon. After the battle Miror B. retreats then and isn't seen again for quite some time. However, if Wes returns to the hideout, he would find that in Miror B's place is a Trainer claiming to be his 'successor', Mirakle B..

The next time Miror B. shows up is at Realgam Tower where he is guarding one of the keys needed to unlock the tower itself.

After Cipher and Team Snagem are defeated, Miror B. can still be found as an opponent in the Deep Colosseum.

Pokémon
Miror B.'s Armaldo replaces his Shadow Sudowoodo

Miror B. later appeared in Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, with a completely new outfit but still with his trademark afro. He is no longer an admin of Cipher, instead attempting to set up Team Miror B. together with Trudly and Folly. He is the only character in the games to be known as a Wanderer.

In this game, when a Shadow Pokémon is defeated before it is snagged and its Trainer can't be rebattled, Miror B will obtain the Pokémon. He can be found at any Poké Spot, Pyrite Colosseum, and Realgam Colosseum. He has three set appearances: Cave Poké Spot, Outskirt Stand, and Gateon Port's lighthouse. After capturing all Shadow Pokémon Miror B will appear at the lighthouse in Gateon Port. He will have a Shadow Dragonite, the final Shadow Pokémon of the game. Thanks to a radar placed on him by Trudly and Folly, it is easy to find him when he is around.
A good start would be to list the cards, with links to their real-life versions and new pages, with screenshots, for those which only appear in-game. If people are willing to cooperate, I can offer a lot of help with this. Punkrockrevel 09:36, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
Pokémon Black? :\
First of, love this game <3. But on to what i was going too say; I remember, a number of websites referring too the game as "Pokémon Black". I forget what websites as this was many years ago, and also my Cousin used too call it Pokémon Black. So i was wondering, and i know that the name is "Pokémon Trading Card Game", but where did the name "Pokémon Black" come from...Maybe cos it's cartage is Black...now i think about it..But still... <span style="color:#2E0854"><b>Takoto</b>!</span> 16:18, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
:Yeah, it's cuz of the cartridge. My friend's brother and I used to call it "Black Version" when we were little. lol. == Another similarity to main series? ==
The graphics are very similar, especially sprites: The sprite used for Red is reproduced exactly (as far as I can tell) some enemy characters. Punkrockrevel 20:07, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

Similarity to SNK vs Capcom Neo-Geo Pocket Colour card game
I'm not sure how common this kind of card-game-video-game is, and how similar they are in general, but similarities between these two are plentiful - only map view and a few locations in which you can move around, characters constantly 'walk', several disciples and a leader in each place, many more if I can take time to remember them. == Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the player a girl? ==

Didn't someone in the Glass Club say "We only accept female members! You could join, but we're not accepting membership right now..." or something akin to that? Doesn't that mean the main (player) character is a girl (even though their portrait does look...androgynous. It could be male or female). <span style="color:#2E0854">~~<b>Takoto</b></span> - <span style="color:#F4C2C2">タコト</span> 21:42, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
Close, she actually says "Only girls are allowed to join the Grass Club. But we're not accepting applications now, anyway. Sorry.", implying the character is a boy. Squitter 06:54, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

Hey You, Pikachu! (Japanese: ピカチュウげんきでちゅう Pikachu Genki dechū) is a spin-off game for Nintendo 64 developed by Ambrella. A microphone is included. Using voice-recognition software, the game interprets a player's commands, letting one interact verbally with Pikachu.

The player is asked by Professor Oak to test out a new invention named the PokéHelper, which allows one to talk to any Pokémon present. The player goes to a fenced-in area of Viridian Forest, and first meet the Pikachu that will become their partner through the game. The entire game takes place in an area between Pewter City and Viridian City, according to the in-game maps.

There are three levels of difficulty, each of them accessible from a different location in the house, that offer 17 stages that can be replayed, and one stage that can be played once per saved file. The player's interactions with the world are limited to picking up items, using the Megaphone, once obtained, to knock fruits out of trees, giving items to Pikachu, and controlling Pikachu's general behavior via vocal commands.

The game is one of the few that utilizes the Nintendo 64's Voice Recognition Unit, and it understands about 200 words, including "ThunderShock", "Thunderbolt" and "Thunder".
Levels
Pikachu's Discovery Days
The beginner level, which is selectable from the sliding door in the player's bedroom. It is represented by a childlike scribble of the areas in the game, done with wax crayons, and the background music is a remix of the Red and Blue title theme. It is the only area where the three fishing spots can be selected and played.

The locations available from this level are:
* Viridian Forest
* Ochre Woods
* Ochre Fishing Spot
* Springleaf Field
* Cobalt Fishing Spot
* Olivine Fishing Spot

Pikachu's Play Days
An intermediary level, which appears from the front gate of the player's house's front yard. It is represented by a relatively-detailed sketch of the areas in the game, done with coloring pencils, and the background music is a tropical remix of the Pokémon Red and Blue title theme as well.

The locations available from this level are:
* Ochre Woods
* Springleaf Field
* Cobalt Coast
* Cobalt Island
* Olivine Lake

Pikachu's Daring Days
The most difficult level, which appears at the side gate of the player's house's front yard. It is represented by a highly-detailed map of the areas in the game, and the background music is a fanfare-like remix of the Pokémon Red and Blue title theme. Professor Oak's secret training can be selected by telling the name to Pikachu while on the map.

Mission Types
A Pokémon Picnic
In these missions, which take place in Ochre Woods, the player and Pikachu have to gather ingredients for Bulbasaur's meal, and send them to Bulbasaur by calling Magnemite over. Bulbasaur asks for three ingredients, but one of the ingredients needs to be doubled, for a total of four ingredients to give to Magnemite in order for the mission to be completed. A Togepi egg can also be found and hatched through repetitive visits to the two shops of the game. Abra's shop is placed in an area that can only be reached from the second Pokémon Picnic mission onward. The only rewards are seeing the reaction Pikachu and its friends have to the various meals Bulbasaur serves, failed or successful.

Caring For Caterpie
In these missions, which take place in Viridian Forest, the player and Pikachu must supervise from one to five Caterpie, depending on how many of them evolved into Metapod in prior Caring For Caterpie missions. The way to complete this mission type is to let Pikachu distract the Caterpie, and feed them bloomed roses when hungry. The Caterpie will evolve into Metapod once fed enough times, and the Metapod will turn into Butterfree once enough time has passed. At the end of the day, Butterfree comes back and rewards Pikachu with a ruby, a glass marble, a balloon or a colored jewel.

Field Trip
In these missions, which take place in Springleaf Field, the player and Pikachu need only enjoy themselves for a day. Pikachu can find, greet and water Oddish, Gloom and Vileplume here. Charmander is also sometimes seen in the first mission, and Diglett sometimes tries to trip Pikachu in the third mission. The second mission takes place in an area with one of Abra's shops. While watering Oddish and Gloom make them evolve, there is one unique Oddish that only grows larger over time, until it is at least ten times Pikachu's size, in the third Field Trip mission. Another odd phenomenon are the strange raddish and smelly raddish that Pikachu sometimes mistakes for Oddish and Gloom.

Gone Fishing!
In these missions, the player and Pikachu can go to three locations, and start fishing Pokémon out of the water. The Pokémon caught are of various sizes, and each fishing spot contains different Pokémon, including rare ones like Dratini. There are also other Pokémon milling about out of the water and watching Pikachu fish, also dependant on the locations chosen. Professor Oak sometimes comments on the pond once you leave at the end of the day, mentioning rare catches in the location. If Pikachu catches a large Pokémon, it will be rewarded with a fishing flag to take home with it.

Little Lost Poliwag
In these missions, which take place at Olivine Lake, the player and Pikachu have to gather up five lost Poliwag, and bring them back home, safe and sound. The first Little Lost Poliwag mission allows the player to meet with Squirtle, who will bring all the found Poliwag back home to their mother, and reward Pikachu with a silver coin, a glass marble, a balloon or a colored jewel. The second mission's location is home to the Poliwag's mother, Poliwhirl, and a mischevious Haunter who can be shocked away from scaring the Poliwag with an electric attack.

The Piñata Game
This mission, found at Cobalt Coast, only has one part to it, but can be replayed normally like the other missions. Pikachu is invited to a piñata party held by Venusaur, and all its friends want to help it smack the Poké Ball containing the rewards open. If Pikachu can successfully open the Poké Ball more than once, Venusaur rewards it with the harmonica, which calls Lapras over to ferry Pikachu and the player to Cobalt Island.

Treasure Hunt
In these missions, which take place on Cobalt Island, the player and Pikachu have to explore a small island full of buried treasure. Slowpoke sunbathes on a rock near the shore, and Lapras can sometimes be seen swimming around the island, watching the treasure hunt. The treasure chests that Pikachu can dig up can then be opened by reading the sign associated with them, and repeating the order to Pikachu. One of the prizes that can be obtained from a big treasure chest is the toy sword that decorates the protagonists' bedroom from then on.

Items
* Ball
* Cupcake
* Fishing hook
* Harmonica
* Lucky hook
* Megaphone
* PokéHelper
* Watering Can
* Watering Pail

Trivia
* The Japanese name of the game, ピカチュウげんきでちゅう Pikachu Genki dechū, is a pun on ピカチュウげんきです Pikachu is fine.
* Although the game has not gained any direct sequels, Pokémon Channel seems to be a sequel, since it is a virtual pet simulation game in which the player shall raise a Pikachu. Pokémon Dash may also be an indirect sequel, as the Pikachu there is similar to that one in Channel: it even sometimes starts to laugh when being petted, among other things. It is unknown if the Pikachu and/or the player charcter are the same.
* Hey You, Pikachu! and PokéPark Wii: Pikachu's Great Adventure are so far the only Pokémon game that does not have the word 'Pokémon' in the English title.
* According to the in-game maps, there is water to the northeast of Viridian Forest, where Cobalt Coast and Cobalt Island are located.
* The cluster of houses representing Pewter City are only visible in the drawing of Pikachu's Discovery Days.
