A valuable item is an item which generally serves no practical purpose other than to be sold, usually for a high price.

In Generation II and IV, it is possible to buy some of these items for a discount (but only one of each per day) on Mondays in the morning in the Goldenrod Tunnel. In Pokémon Black, some of these items are sold in Black City, albeit for prices much higher than they can be sold for. Often, these items later become exchangeable items. In Generation V, mulches and flutes became valuable items due to losing their function. While most of these items can be sold at Poké Marts, those introduced in Generation V can only be sold to certain item maniacs. Besides Big Nuggets, Pearl Strings and Comet Shards, the player can also sell normal Nuggets, Pearls and Big Pearls, Stardust and Star Pieces to the maniac inside the Icirrus Pokémon Center, for double the price presented below.
Trivia
* The SlowpokeTail is actually a useless item with no function past its monetary value. Although it is said that a Slowpoke will use its tail for fishing, a SlowpokeTail has no effect on fishing at all, nor does it have any effect on Shellder despite the fact that contact with a Slowpoke's tail usually induces a spiral change.
* The first time that humans eating Pokémon is mentioned explicitly in the games is when a Team Rocket member mentions the SlowpokeTail's value as a delicacy.
* The Japanese name for nugget, きんのたま kin no tama, literally means "golden ball", which is also a colloquial term for testicles. The man offering his "golden ball" is a frequent joke amongst Japanese fans. As this pun would be lost in translation, as well as would not go over well with parent groups, it was translated as "nugget of wisdom".
* The Rare Bone and Stat-enhancing item share the same Bag sprite.
I highly doubt that's true. The attack move is "Hydro Cannon" so I believe cannon is where the attack comes from. TheBlazikenMaster 23:21, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
:I agree as well. They don't design the sprites based off of what moves can be used. Otherwise "OMG LOOK AT HITMONLEE IT CAN LEARN KICKING MOVES BECAUSE IT'S KICKING IN THE SPRITE!" Its mouth is open, and Hydro Cannon just happens to be coming from that point. There's no special connection. TTEchidna 23:33, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
::I have never seen Blastoise using its mouth for Hydro Pump in the anime. But you're right I know you are, I was just unsure if it was good trivia or not so I asked. TheBlazikenMaster 23:38, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

:I know you didn't think of it before (me included), but it happened to me once and THEN I realized it. I think the name "Hydro Cannon" is correct, but I think it's to emphatize that is a move EXCLUSIVE to Blastoise, as blastoise is the only Water-type Pokémon with Cannons (remember that Blastoise was the only Pokémon able to learn it).
:I've uploaded a screenshot of it that clearly shows what I've said (although for some reason it does not appear yet). The Image is here
:I know it's weird that a move called "Cannon" is shot from its mouth instead, but do it for yourselves and trade to Hoenn-based games and it's the same thing, the attack comes out from its mouth! (I don't think it's a coincidence) hfc2X 00:21, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
::That image doesn't prove anything, maybe it appears to you that it's doing it from its mouth, but it's just a sprite, and it looks that way. What I'd like to see is examples of Blastoise using its mouth in the anime. TheBlazikenMaster 00:29, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
:::The anime will prove you nothing, as there Hydro Cannon does not exist. I know it's just a sprite, but it makes a big coincidence if you look at the attack in ALL Gen III games. I'm not saying that the attack will always come from its mouth, but in GBA games it does.
:::In Colosseun and XD, Hydro Cannon DOES come out from the cannons, and there you have another thing not shown in the anime... In the anime, Blastoise ALWAYS has its cannons outside its shell, but in the games, the cannons only come out to use Hydro Pump or Hydro Cannon, so don't rely on the anime to prove anything (remember that games DID come out much before the anime, so they still make the rules). hfc2X 00:48, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
::::Actually Gary did order Blastoise to use Hydro Cannon in one of the D/P episodes, but I get your point and still think it only looks that way. TheBlazikenMaster 01:09, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
:::::That's what I wanted to point in the trivia... that Gen III sprites interestingly (and coincidentally) make it shoot from its mouth... maybe someone could point it better than me. (Sorry if I'm not clear, but english is not my native language xD.) hfc2X 01:18, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
Honestly, if we're going to use sprites for any moves of any kind, it should be 3-D games, because they atleast TRY to make the moves look realistic (PBR's contact moves actually making contact was a big jump, imo). Sk8torchic 14:59, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
:::I saw the bit about Exclusivly to Blastoise and got lost a bit. Hydro Cannon is exclusive to all Water Starters, not just Blastoise. The cannons in its shell have always been there for decoration purpose IMO. Besdies that the Cannon signifies the pressure for the attack. Look at it this way, Water Gun is the weakest only doing squirt like damage, Hydropump is like using a hose, Hydro Cannon is using a pressure washer. Also the bit about Blastoise always having its cannons out in the Anime is wrong, the cannons only appeared when it was ready to fire off one of its water attacks. I know the Elemental Hyperbeam attacks were issued out in the remake of Red and Blue games but if you brought over any of the other Water starters you can get Hydro Cannon with them. I agree fully with the They don't design Pokemon for certain moves bit though. Xanhawk 22:27 Dec. 21, 2008
In the RBY sprites, the box around Blastoise's cannons looked more like raised "flaps" of the shell, but in the official art and in later sprites this was fixed.
Okay, so in the ROM of Emerald and R/S Petalburg City is the first map in the Map Index List, with Littleroot being added later on. Similarly, the Music Index List lists Petalburg's theme first, and Littleroot's is little further on. Considering Norman was the Player's father, I think it would be safe to assume that Petalburg City was originally going to be the starting town for RSE. Does anyone have any evidence that disproves/proves this? It's an interesting idea, perhaps something that could be added to a Fan Theories section?
Trivia
* The island shares similarities with Navel Island in the Orange Islands since not only do they both have the word "navel" in their names but they are also home to an extremely tall mountain. Despite this, Navel Rock does not appear to have a mountain when viewed from outside, in a similar fashion to Hoenn's Mt. Pyre.
* The background music played outside is ナナシマ Sevii Islands while the one played inside is オツキミ山のどうくつ [[Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen Music Super Complete|Mt. When battle Ho-Oh and Lugia, the theme played is 戦い（VS伝説のポケモン）Battle (VS Legendary Pokémon). This applies to both FireRed and LeafGreen and Emerald. These are three of the six tracks shared between these games, with the others being:
** ファンファーレ ポケモンゲット Fanfare: Get Pokémon, used when caught Pokémon in these three games;
** Despite this, all tracks from FireRed and LeafGreen are present in Emerald's code, though only the above tracks are used.
* In FireRed and LeafGreen, the cave is silver, while in Emerald, the cave is gold. This is a reference to Gold and Silver, the games Ho-Oh and Lugia are respectively the mascots of.
Physiology for the admins to implement
Meguroko is a primarily tan-colored, quadruped crocodilian Pokémon, having a long snout as typical of crocodilians, and a thick black stripe on the bridge. Meguroko’s eyes are round and sepia-colored, with a circular pattern of black around them stretching between each eye, giving the impression of an archetypical robber’s mask or a pair of glasses, with the ridges surrounding the eyes being large and protruding. Two thick black stripes are present down Meguroko’s back, stretching to its pink-colored underside and encompassing its tan-colored limbs, which sport three claws each that are also black; additionally, its tapered tail is tipped with the color. == Origin ==

I'd like to point out Spectacled Caiman as a partial design influence, particularly the "eyeglasses".
Taking into account the glasses design and the word "megane" the name is most likely a pun off of "meganekko" or glasses girls. 目黒子 (meguroko: Black-eyed child) with 目 (me) meaning eyes, 黒 (kuro) meaning black, and 子 (ko) meaning child.--Psychogurl 00:12, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

When it comes to crocodilian species, Sandile could be likely a Nile Crocodile because of it's stripes and it use to be found in the Nile River in Egypt.Bennell 13:58, 26 March 2012 (UTC)
Maybe it'd be relevant in the trivia to mention that as of now (barring any evolution with a similar typing, of course), Meguroko would be the only dark/ground poke'mon?--The Great Ratsby 02:42, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

The only known Dark/Ground Pokémon. But keep in mind that Black and White might introduce other Dark/Ground Pokémon. I think we should probably leave it out since if it turns out there are more we'd have wasted time. Absolution 09:27, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
Trivia
So, I've been thinking about this for a while and considering whether or not it was actual trivia, so I figure that I should just ask. The moves naturally learned match the striping on Sandile. Trivia? Yes I know it's not consistent and it's not really that important. Rucario64 20:50, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
:They moves just alternate between Ground and Dark for a short while. If it did so for its entire learnset, it would be notable, but really the only reason you see this is because of the way Bulbapedia sets out its templates. --Snorlax'Monster 09:10, 17 March 2011 (UTC)
Rad Rickshaw's Cycle Shop (Japanese: サイクルショップじんりき Human Power Cycle Shop) is the Sinnoh region's bike shop. The owner is Rad Rickshaw.

The bike shop, which is located south of the Pokémon Center in Eterna City, serves the same purpose as the bike shops in Cerulean City, Goldenrod City, and Mauville City. Like in these shops, the player is not allowed to buy a bicycle. The bike for Diamond is eventually given as a reward for saving Rad Rickshaw's Clefairy from Team Galactic.

Once the bicycle is obtained, the player can leave Eterna City to the south, via 206. Later in the game, if the player returns to the bike shop, the owner will read from the instruction manual and explain how to use the two gears of the bike.

Trivia
* As a reference to the Generation III bikes, there are catalogs in the back of the room that advertise Mach Bikes and Acro Bikes.
* On the shelf over one from the Generation III reference shelf is a manual of the latest and the current model bicycle.
* In German, "Rad" means "bicycle". This may have inspired the name.
