Normal Form Terapagos is a small, {{wp|reptile|reptilian}} {{OBP|Pokémon|species}} that resembles a dark blue {{wp|Testudines|turtle}}. The body is light-blue with a shell shaped like a crystal with a white hexagon on top of it. The neck and legs each have a green star and ring rub. Each foot has three toes. It has a blue tail with a green star at the end. It has two light blue eyes with rouge rimming. It has a diamond shape on its forehead and two ear-like diamonds on both sides of its head. Finally, it has a green diamond ponytail with light and dark purple at the end.

Normal Form Terapagos is said to have a splendid aura. It is a small and weak Pokémon, but when necessary, it can crystallize the energy in its body to form a greenish protective shield around itself. It is also capable of assuming a dormant state when it needs to slumber or when its life is in danger, pulling its head, limbs, and tail into its shell and shrinking in size, which makes itself look like an ordinary jewel.<ref>"[https://scarletviolet.pokemon.com/en-us/news/area_zero_mystery/ Introducing a Newly Discovered Pokémon!]" Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet | Official Website.</ref> This species appears to be capable of living for millions of years while slumbering within its crystal shell. Many for a long time believed Terapagos was fake and that Heath made it up, but Briar proved its existence by writing [[Briar's Book|her own book]], explaining the expedition she, [[Carmine]], [[Kieran]] and the player had, which featured Terapagos.

Terapagos is capable of temporarily bringing people from other timelines to its world as seen with a Professor Sada{{sup/9|S}}/Professor Turo{{sup/9|V}}, who was brought to [[Kitakami]] thanks to the gems in the bottom of the [[Crystal Pool]]. The [[Terastal energy]] it produces can be used to power up AI-powered robots and [[time machine]]s, capable of bringing [[Paradox Pokémon]] from either the ancient past and the distant future or different timelines to the present era, it's currently unknown from where Paradox Pokémon are brought from. Terapagos can give a [[Tera Orb]] the ability to Terastallize Pokémon with no charging drawbacks. Terapagos is the source and creator of the {{t|Stellar}} [[type]]. Unlike other Pokémon, it always receives the full benefits of the Stellar Tera Type, even outside of [[Tera Raid Battle]]s.

Terapagos is the [[Signature move|only known Pokémon]] capable of learning the move {{m|Tera Starstorm}}. It is also the [[Signature Ability|only known Pokémon]] that can have {{a|Tera Shift}} as an [[Ability]]. Its Tera Type is fixed as Stellar and cannot be changed at the {{DL|Medali|Treasure Eatery}}.

===Forms===
Terapagos has three forms: Normal Form, Terastal Form, and Stellar Form. Terapagos can fly in its Terastal and Stellar forms.

Terastal Form Terapagos is a reptilian Pokémon that resembles a light-blue turtle. Terapagos has two light blue eyes with rouge rimming, while the rest of its head is a deeper shade of indigo. Its head is also decorated with small diamond protrusions, with two on top of its head and two more on either side. It has two small hands with three fingers each that barely poke out of its fur. Its fur is voluminous, its color varying with a gradient between a greenish yellow and sky blue. A second patch of fur also appears behind its shell, vaguely forming three separate tails.

Terapagos's shell is made out of crystallized energy, with 18 irregular pentagons on top decorated with differently colored symbols that resemble all 18 [[Type#Icons|type icons]], which regularly morph back and forth to abstract shapes. On the center of its shell is a small hexagonal protrusion, with a white hexagon on top of it with triangular extensions on each corner that connects it to the edges of the protrusion, slightly resembling the icon for the Terastal phenomenon. The sides of its shell also have three obtuse pentagons each on the rim of the shell that are a solid light blue color.

Terapagos transforms into Terastal form when it is either in danger or about to battle. According to Briar, Terapagos's body and sturdy shell are made of crystallized [[Terastal energy]]. In the anime, Terapagos's transformation in its Terastal Form is shown in more detail; Terapagos absorbs and crystallizes the energy around itself, causing its shell to grow and cover most of its body, leaving only its front feet, head and tail out, then the ring rubs on its neck and legs turn into fur that grow around its head into a mane and then around its tail into three, new, furry tails. The shell allows Terapagos to absorb energy and store it within itself. When using beam-like attacks, Terapagos pulls its hands and head into its shell, transforms its mane into a shape that resembles its 3 tails, flies up in the air, and shoots the attack from the diamond in the center of its shell. When Terapagos absorbs enough Terastal energy or is Terastallized by a [[Tera Orb]], it will transform into its Stellar Form, which has the {{t|Stellar}} [[Tera Type]]. Stellar Form Terapagos emanates an energy field in the shape of a dome beneath itself, surrounded by crystals bearing each of the type icons with their respective colors. The rest of its body takes on a rainbow-like hue, and its central crystal grows into a crown-like structure covered in jewels corresponding to the type icons, topped with a miniature version of its Normal Form and the icon for the Terastal Phenomenon floating above it.

Stellar Form Terapagos is said to be at its full power. Heath was the one who discovered this form. This form is said to resemble the world as ancient humans saw it. In his journal, Heath described it as looking like a planet floating in space. Terapagos has taken this form at least 3 times through history: in ancient times, 200 years ago, and at the present time. This form of Terapagos has an amount of Terastal energy amplified to the highest it can get. Terapagos appears to completly lose control in its Stellar Form in some cases seemingly due to energy overload, becoming enraged and attacking everything around it, due to having so much power in this form, it risks also causing havoc to [[Paldea]]'s ecosystem. It's so powerful in this form that when Terapagos transforms into it, it cracks the ground around it, which creates a risk that the Area Zero Underdepths might collapse. In this form, Terapagos has been shown to resist going back into a powerful [[Poké Ball]] like the [[Master Ball]], destroying it, being the only Pokémon known to be capable of doing that.

Stellar Form Terapagos is capable of creating multiple Tera Raid Barriers by absorbing Terastal energy from other Terastallized Pokémon, causing their Terastallized state to be broken in the process, but it can only do so three times in a battle. It can also change its type temporarily. It's shown to be also capable to shooting huge beams of [[Terastal energy]] at its foes, although {{ga|Koraidon}}{{sup/9|S}}/{{ga|Miraidon}}{{sup/9|V}} managed to take it without much damage. When using beam-like attacks, Terapagos will use all of its Type icon crystals to form a symbol and shoot the attack from it. It is a male Terapagos and the only known specimen to be still alive after seismic shift doomed its species. Finally, they arrive at the chamber where Terapagos is slumbering; however, determined to defeat the player, Kieran catches Terapagos with his [[Master Ball]]. He is then encouraged by Briar to battle the player, but Terapagos is defeated. Then Briar tells him to Terastallize Terapagos, causing it to transform into its Stellar Form but lose control as a result. As the cavern starts to crack and collapse due to its power, Kieran tries to [[recall]] Terapagos, but it manages to destroy the Master Ball. The player and Carmine challenge Terapagos, but soon Carmine is defeated due to being weakened by the [[Wild Pokémon]] outside the chamber. Terapagos allows the player to Terastallize four times, but it absorbs the energy back, forming a Tera Raid Shield, the first three. Eventually, Kieran joins the battle, and the player and Kieran manage to weaken Terapagos enough for it to return to its Normal Form, which allows the player to catch it, saving everyone from its wrath.

Outside of {{pkmn|battle}}, Terapagos is always in its Normal Form. When it enters a battle for the first time, it changes from its Normal Form into its Terastal Form through its [[signature Ability]] {{a|Tera Shift}}, and cannot change back to Normal Form (even if it [[faint]]s). Terastal Form Terapagos also has Tera Shift replaced by its other signature Ability, {{a|Tera Shell}}. If Terapagos {{Tera}}stallizes during a battle, it transforms into its Stellar Form, where Tera Shell is replaced by its third signature Ability, {{a|Teraform Zero}}. Its [[signature move]] {{m|Tera Starstorm}} also changes from {{t|Normal}}- to {{type|Stellar}} and targets both opponents in a [[Double Battle]].

Terapagos may be based on a {{wp|sea turtle}}, specifically the {{wp|Green sea turtle#Galápagos green turtle|Galápagos green turtle}}, a population of green sea turtles found around the {{wp|Galápagos Islands}}. It may also be based on the {{wp|Galápagos tortoise}}; in particular, it may be inspired by {{wp|Lonesome George}}, the last {{wp|Pinta Island Tortoise}} (a subspecies of Galápagos tortoise), as Terapagos is said to be extinct aside from a lone male survivor. The Terastal Form's hairy appearance may be a reference to Japanese legends of the ''{{wp|Cultural depictions of turtles#Japan|minogame}}'', a turtle which lived for 10,000 years and grew a tail made of {{wp|seaweed}}.

Terapagos, especially its Stellar Form, may also reference the {{wp|World Turtle}}, a mythical turtle found in various mythologies that was said to carry the world upon its back. This connection is furthered by the Stellar Form's Pokédex entries, which state that it resembles "the world as the ancients saw it" and "a planet floating in space". By extension, Terapagos's Stellar Form may be a reference to the expression "{{wp|turtles all the way down}}", as it has a crystal in the shape of its Normal Form above its shell, and it floats on top of a larger dome shaped like a turtle shell. The expression "turtles all the way down" refers to the idea that the World Turtle rests on the back of a larger turtle, and that turtle rests on the back of an even larger turtle, and so on.

The tessellation on Terapagos's shell contains [[type]] icons and could be based on the unique pattern on the back of the {{wp|diamondback terrapin}}.

Terapagos's crystalline composition may also take inspiration from {{wp|chitons}}, marine mollusks with flat disk-shaped bodies and eye-like peripherals composed of rock.

Tina is an energetic, cheerful, optimistic person who enjoys spending time with her Pokémon and making memories with them. She believes that getting stronger is pointless if the Trainer forgets about their bond with their Pokémon, and she'd rather be with a Pokémon that she's shared memories with than one that's rare or strong. She wants to treasure each encounter she has with Pokémon, so she gets excited about what kinds of cities and Pokémon she'll see while she's traveling. She is really good at running and jumping, but she has trouble studying and often forgets things. She has been friends with [[Paulo]] ever since they were little, and he sometimes tutors her in math.

===History===
As little children, Tina and Paulo took care of a {{pkmn2|wild}} {{p|Dratini}} together, each vowing to go on a journey with Dratini and challenge the {{pkmn|Champion}}. One day, Dratini was {{pkmn2|caught}} by a {{tc|Collector}} who wished to profit from the products that could be made of Dratini's shed skin. Tina was distraught at having to say goodbye to Dratini like that, while Paulo became fixated on becoming stronger so that he'd never have to experience things like that again.

Eventually, both Tina and Paulo left their hometown to start their {{pkmn|journey}}s. On her travels, Tina visited a Pokémon graveyard and listened to the stories of the Trainers who came to visit graves. Those stories made her realize that no matter what, the time she has with her Pokémon is limited, so she began to think that she should make the most of that time.

===[[Villain Arc]]===
Tina first arrives on [[Pasio]] soon after the end of the first [[Pokémon Masters League]] tournament. She feels dismayed upon learning that she missed the tournament, but congratulates Paulo on making it to the main tournament, despite him losing early on. She immediately starts training in preparation for the next tournament, but during one training match, she notices Paulo using an uncharacteristically reckless tactic to win. Later, Tina and Paulo are confronted by a pair of {{tc|Team Rocket Grunt}}s, but before they can beat them, {{mas|Giovanni}} and several more Grunts appear, easily overwhelming Tina and Paulo with their sheer numbers. However, Giovanni lets them off the hook, prioritizing his big schemes over minor Pokémon theft.

This defeat causes Paulo to start relying on Pokémon he loans from [[Lear]] instead of his {{p|Rockruff}} to become stronger, which Tina disapproves of. The two are approached by {{mas|Colress}}, who explains how both good and bad people can use [[sync stone]]s, because even evil connections still count as connections. {{mas|Looker}} also requests that the two bodyguard Colress from [[Team Rocket]], which they accept. Later, meeting up with the {{player}} and Colress, Tina asks their help in stopping Paulo's obsessive pursuit of strength. While they accept, Colress emphasizes that both making memories and becoming stronger are equally valid viewpoints, and that one shouldn't be completely rejected in favor of the other.

Tina is later kidnapped by the [[Shadow Triad]] on {{mas|Ghetsis}}'s orders in order to force Paulo to bring {{p|Hoopa}} to him in exchange for her safety. However, immediately upon Paulo's arrival, Ghetsis eats his words and says he'll keep using Tina as leverage. Paulo attempts to free her, but is overpowered by Ghetsis and the Shadow Triad. When Paulo's Rockruff is seemingly disintegrated by {{p|Kyurem}}, Paulo's anger peaks, allowing him to take control of Hoopa with his [[sync stone]] and transform it into its {{form|Hoopa|Unbound}} form. After driving [[Team Plasma]] away, Paulo leaves to use Hoopa Unbound's power to start eradicating evil from the world, ignoring Tina's objections.

After Paulo's confrontation with Team Rocket has ended with Hoopa falling under Giovanni's control and Paulo understanding the error of his ways, Tina reveals that Rockruff is still alive, with Hoopa having transported it away before Kyurem's attack hit it. She had later found it and brought it to the [[Pokémon Center]] to recover. With Paulo's fighting spirit restored, he, Tina, and the player leave to confront Giovanni, with Tina carrying a device made by Colress that should be able to restore Hoopa to normal. Making their way through Team Rocket's forces, they eventually reach Giovanni at the [[Champion Stadium]] and battle him. Tina's {{p|Flareon}} ultimately succeeds in restoring Hoopa to normal, causing all the [[Legendary Pokémon]] summoned by Hoopa to disappear. With this, Giovanni calls off Team Rocket's attack and retreats for now, allowing Tina and her friends to resume training in earnest.

They take Ash to [[Lear]] to get him some food, then agree to help Ash get accustomed to Pasio. After watching the player battle Ash and show him what a [[sync move]] is, Tina battles Ash. While battling, Tina fails to perform a sync move with her Flareon, while Ash successfully performs his first sync move with his {{AP|Pikachu}} and wins the battle. Tina shrugs off this failure, saying that they just need more practice, although she mentions that this has never happened before. Ash's Pikachu tries to cheer up Flareon, only for Flareon to scare him away. Tina asks Flareon why he is acting so rude, only for him to lash out at Tina and run away. Tina is shocked, as she and Flareon never fought when he was an {{p|Eevee}}. However, he has become a bit feisty ever since he evolved. Ash tells Tina that her Flareon is just going through a rebellious stage; he went through a {{AP|similar situation|Charizard}} before, but everything turned out fine in the end. Ash assures Tina that she and Flareon will be fine because Flareon is important to her. The player, Ash, and Tina then head off to search for Flareon.

After searching for Flareon for a while with no success, Tina starts to suspect that he was stolen by some of the [[villainous team|bad people]] on the island. Suddenly, [[Team Break]] shows up saying that Tina will never get her Flareon back. After Tina briefs Ash on who Team Break is, he asks them what they meant, and they reveal that Tina's Flareon has joined them. The player and Ash battle Team Break to get Flareon back, but Ash has difficulty going all out against a friend's Pokémon and the player's Pikachu is knocked out by Team Break's other Pokémon. Tina is distraught at this turn of events, but Ash encourages her to not give up and tell Flareon how she feels. Tina apologizes to Flareon for being a bad Trainer and not understanding his feelings. She says she wants to be by Flareon's side no matter what, because Flareon is her partner and she hates being separated from him. Tina's Flareon is moved by her speech, and Team Break is annoyed that Flareon is still loyal to his Trainer. They send a {{p|Crobat}} to knock him out, but Ash takes the attack to protect Flareon. Tina is surprised by Ash's actions, and Ash tells Flareon that Tina will never replace him, prompting Flareon to return to her side. Once Flareon reunites with Tina, Ash and Pikachu knock out Team Break's Crobat with ease. Once Team Break runs away, Ash, the player, and Tina celebrate their victory.

Later, Ash guesses that Flareon was just jealous and thought that Tina was going to be taken away from him because he lost to Pikachu. Ash then invites Tina to battle again to cheer her up from the day's events, and the two proceed to battle.

While walking through [[Centra City]], the {{player}} ([[Scottie]] or [[Bettie]]), {{mas|Ash}}, and Tina notice a crowd has gathered to watch an announcement that [[Lear]] is making. He announces a single battle tournament called the "Single Master Challenge Cup" for Trainers who just arrived on [[Pasio]], with the winner being able to challenge the leader of the team that won the first-ever [[Pokémon Masters League|PML]]: the player. This shocks the whole group, especially the player, and Tina is surprised that the player didn't know anything about this beforehand. Ash wonders why the tournament is for single battles instead of Pasio's standard team battles; Tina guesses that it's because the tournament is for Trainers who are new to Pasio, and they'll be able to do better in a battle format they're used to. Tina and Ash both decide to enter the tournament and vow to win the whole thing.

Tina's first match in the tournament is a close battle, and it comes down to both Tina and her opponent having one Pokémon left. Tina sends out Flareon, while her opponent sends out {{p|Carracosta}}. Tina realizes she's at a type disadvantage, but following Ash's example, she says she won't give up until the end. Unfortunately, Tina's Flareon is defeated, eliminating her from the tournament.

Tina joins the audience to watch the rest of the tournament, receiving compliments from {{mas|Rosa}} and {{mas|Gloria}} on her great battle when she first arrives. During Ash's match against the player, Tina is shocked when Ash defeats the player's {{p|Solgaleo}}. At the end of the tournament, Tina joins Lear and the player to congratulate Ash on winning. Afterwards, she joins the player and Ash for a team battle against Lear, [[Rachel]], and {{mas|Sawyer}}.
