'''Serena''' (Japanese: '''セレナ''' ''Serena'') is the female [[player character]] in {{g|X and Y}}. She also serves as the [[rival]] in the same games if the player chooses to play as the {{ga|Calem|male character}}. Her male counterpart is {{ga|Calem}}.

If playing as Serena, the player character may earn the title of {{tc|Grand Duchess}} by defeating most of the Trainers in the [[Battle Chateau]].

;As player character
Serena is a young girl whose appearance changes based on [[trainer customization]]. The player can choose between 3 different preset default appearances, chooseing between Serena's hair, eye and skin color. These defaults otherwise are identical. In most media and her stock art, Serena uses the default middle option, having gray eyes and long honey-blonde hair.

Serenas's hair is styled with long Honey blonde hair. Her head is covered by a red Felt Hat that has a black ribbon tied around the base. This hat is thick and has a wide brim going all the way around her scalp, folding upwards. The hat has a pair of white Wide-Frame Sunglasses with black visors. These glasses are circular in shape and end in a point towards the outsides connecting to the arms of the glasses. Serena has tall rounded eyes, having gray irises and three eye lashes on each eye. Her thin eyebrows show no color.

Her dress is a black sleeveless High-Waisted Outfit, having a deeper black collar. The dress has a red pleated skirt with 7 sections on the front and back ends, the sides being longer than the rest. The sides also have pockets. Her long black OTK Socks go up to her mid thigh, and lack any decoration on them. The black High Top shoes have darker black laces and gray soles. The sides of each foot are decorated with pink Poké Ball-like markings. Serena's bag of choice is a pink Tote Bag that opens on the top with two pink straps on the ends used to slring around one should like a purse. The bag is covered in several patched squares with a half ciricle being included in the middle.

Serena wears her black [[Mega Ring]] along her left hand. This Mega Ring is decorated with a gray symbol around the [[Key Stone]] similar to that of the [[Mega Evolution]] symbol.

Serena's appearance as an NPC is nearly identical to that of her center default player character appearance. She lacks the hat and glassses that her player counterpart would otherwise have, instead she sports a long curly Ponytail in the same Honey blonde color.

Seren appears both as a playable and non-playable character in {{g|X and Y}}. When playing as {{ga|Calem}}, Serena will appears as one of the player's [[friend]]s and [[rival]]s.

Serena is a girl living in [[Vaniville Town]] with her friends {{ga|Calem}}, [[Tierno]], [[Trevor]], and [[Shauna]]. She recently moved into Vaniville Town. Her {{kal|Grace|mom}} owns a {{p|Rhyhorn}} and {{p|Fletchling}}, the latter of which wakes Serena up at the start of the game.

====As a non-playable character====
Serena is a young girl who lives in [[Vaniville Town]] when the protagonist moves into town. Serena is the {{player}}'s [[friend|neighbor]] and their main [[rival]], choosing the [[first partner Pokémon]] which is super effective against the player's. She is also the character who teaches the player and [[Shauna]] how to {{pkmn2|caught|catch}} a Pokémon, catching a {{p|Bunnelby}} with the use of her {{p|Fletchling}}. Soon after, she can be seen in [[Santalune Forest]] with the other friends.

Serena is the child of two prominent Pokémon battlers, and is seen as one of the two best battlers of the group of friends, alongside the protagonist.

At {{rt|7|Kalos}}, Serena battles with the player against [[Tierno]] and [[Trevor]]. She then helps the player defeat [[Team Flare]] at [[Glittering Cave]] to save the fossil assistant, and is given the fossil not chosen afterward. At the [[Tower of Mastery]] in [[Shalour City]], Serena battles the player for the chance to get the [[Mega Ring]].

The next time Serena battles the player is in front of the [[Coumarine Gym]].

When the group of friends meets up and decides to go to the haunted area in {{rt|14|Kalos}}, Serena is the only one of the friends to not go to the house, claiming that she has to train. She then helps the player defeat Team Flare at the [[Poké Ball Factory]].

The next time Serena battles the player is in front of the [[Anistar Gym]]. After the player defeats the gym, she will ask for a rematch, but cancels her challenge after [[Lysandre]] announces his plan of eradicating all life forms not a part of Team Flare. She then helps the player defeat Team Flare get to the legendary Pokémon and defeat Team Flare for good.

As the player traverses {{kal|Victory Road}}, Serena appears by a derelict altar and demands one last battle before their final challenge.

After the player enters the [[Hall of Fame]] and battles at the [[Battle Maison]], Serena can be battled in [[Kiloude City]], at which point she has obtained a Mega Ring of her own. When defeated for the first time here, she will give the player an [[Absolite]] and tell the player to meet [[Professor Sycamore]] in [[Anistar City]]. She can be battled at Kiloude City once per day.

As the player character, Serena can have up to all 721 Pokémon available in the Kalos games. As an NPC, she uses a selection of Pokémon through out the story to battle the player, including usage of [[Mega Evolution]]. Serena is required to pick between {{p|Chespin}}, {{p|Fennekin}} or {{p|Froakie}} as her first partner Pokémon. As the player, she will choose the Pokémon first, as NPC, Serena will pick the first partner Pokémon with the type advantage over the player.

As the player, she is also required to catch either {{p|Xerneas}}{{sup/6|X}} or {{p|Yveltal}}{{sup/6|Y}}.

Jacinthe is a svelte, elegant woman with very dark complexion and wide, sparkling eyes. Her eyelashes are black, but her eyebrows and hair are a light lilac color. Her hair is very voluminous and reaches down to her thighs, and is parted into two giant, spiraling curls that flank a smaller middle curl on the back.

Jacinthe's attire, described by an NPC as a one-of-a-kind haute couture, is a tight-fitting light purple dress with puffy shoulders, full-length sleeves, and a knee-length skirt. Her sleeves are wider at the wrists, and the whole of her dress is decorated with white lace patterns on the hems of the wrists, around the waist, and on the collar and chest area. A golden flower brooch with an opalescent gem is set on the center of the collar. Jacinthe also wears white gloves with yellow ribbons on the wrists, white fishnet stockings with yellow sequins, and light purple high-heels with six-petaled, fairy-like decors on the vamps. On her left index finger, she has a ring with the SBC logo over her glove. Finally, Jacinthe wears a pillbox-style {{wp|fascinator}} on the left side of her head — it has the same fairy-like decor as her shoes on one side, but more ornately designed, and her [[Key Stone]] is set in the center.

As one of [[Lumiose City]]'s upper-class elites, Jacinthe maintains a graceful and polite demeanor to the people around her. However, she also tends to have an inflated ego and no sense of personal boundaries, and often refuses to take no for an answer — when [[Team MZ]] had to leave Jacinthe's tournament early to deal with cases of [[Rogue Mega Evolution]]s, Jacinthe proclaims that her tournament is equally as important and asks Team MZ to return to her posthaste. Jacinthe does not take well to being slighted or disrespected, and although she never loses her temper even when irritated, she may retaliate severely, such as when she cordons off [[Hotel Z]] inside her own "Jacinthe zone" after [[Urbain]]/[[Taunie]] dismisses her tournament.

Jacinthe enjoys Pokémon battles and leads the [[Society of Battle Connoisseurs]] with the aim to promote growth, appreciation, and understanding between Trainers and Pokémon through battles. She believes that as an elite socialite, she is responsible to guide the masses and teach fellow Pokémon Trainers to be the strongest they can be. She also does not stand by when [[Lumiose City]] is in danger, as during the [[Ange]] crisis, she helps the player by developing plans to reach [[Zygarde (Pokémon)|Zygarde]], and working behind the scenes with the mayor and other government forces to defend the city. Prior the events of [[Pokémon Legends: Z-A]], Jacinthe was tutored in Pokémon battles by [[Diantha]] and [[Korrina]] also speculates that Diantha's {{p|Gardevoir}} may inspire Jacinthe's love for {{t|Fairy}} types. 2 years prior to the game, Jacinthe defeated [[Lebanne]] in a battle, and subsequently recruited her as her personal right-hand woman. Lebanne mentioned that Jacinthe had her keep her promise by forcing her to wear her current outfit and act fancy in Jacinthe's presence.

==== [[Pokémon Legends: Z-A]] ====
Jacinthe is first mentioned by name during [[Mission (Legends: Z-A)#Main missions|Main Mission]] 20: "A Request from the Rust Syndicate", by the members of her [[Society of Battle Connoisseurs]] after [[Corbeau]] tasks the player to stop them from giving unwanted lectures to children. Jacinthe is properly introduced after the player reaches Rank C in the [[Z-A Royale]]. Recognizing the many rising stars in the Z-A Royale, Jacinthe personally invites the player, [[Urbain]]/[[Taunie]], [[Canari]], [[Tarragon]], [[Ivor]], [[Gwynn]], [[Philippe]], and Corbeau to participate in a tournament she created by and for her, which she dubs "Le Super-Tournoi de Jacinthe" (Japanese: '''スーパーユカリトーナメント''' ''Super Yukari Tournament''). Before the tournament can begin, however, Urbain/Taunie is informed by [[Vinnie]] of imminent cases of [[Rogue Mega Evolution]], causing them and the player to leave the venue early, despite Lebanne's warning.

Jacinthe eventually comes to crash [[Team MZ]]'s Rogue Mega Evolution strategy meeting, insisting that the player and Urbain/Taunie join her tournament and refusing to accept Urbain/Taunie's request to disqualify them, before leaving Team MZ with a warning to not take her lightly. As Team MZ's members battle the Rogue Mega-Evolved {{p|Froslass}}, {{p|Altaria}}, and {{p|Venusaur}}, Jacinthe keeps appearing after each battle using a unique pink holographic avatar to remind Team MZ to join her tournament, going as far as threatening to take over [[Hotel Z]] if they take too long. Jacinthe eventually makes good on her threat when she cordons off Hotel Z inside her so-called "Jacinthe zone", using a personal pink holo-tech barrier to surround the hotel perimeter. Jacinthe also sics her SBC fellows and her right-hand woman Lebanne to battle Team MZ in order to coerce them to join the tournament, although Team MZ already states they'll join the tournament anyway, making the threat moot. At the same time, the Z-A Royale app on the player's phone announces that Jacinthe serves as the player's opponent in their [[Z-A Royale]] promotion match to Rank B.

As the player and Urbain/Taunie return to Hotel Richissime, Canari reveals that she and the other guests of the tournament were unable to leave the hotel due to a Jacinthe zone set up inside while Team MZ were fighting the Rogue Mega-Evolved Pokémon. Nevertheless, now that all the participants are present, Jacinthe proclaims her Le Super-Tournoi de Jacinthe open, and puts herself as the top seed for the grand finals. The tournament commences as planned, although not without a surprise interruption from Zygarde and [[Lysandre|L]], who had escorted Zygarde and proclaims that it wishes to challenge the player. The player battles Jacinthe afterward; this battle also doubles as their Z-A Royale promotion match. Jacinthe states that her wish upon reaching Rank A in the Z-A Royale is to bring happiness to the people of Lumiose City, by fulfilling her self-proclaimed duty of training each and every one to be the strongest Pokémon Trainers. She gives [[TM020]] ({{m|Play Rough}}) to the player after defeating her.

During the game's final act, Jacinthe and most of the other major Trainers encountered thus far turn up to Team MZ's strategy meeting in hologram forms to discuss how to deal with the [[Ange]] crisis. Jacinthe provides information on the situation in the city and suggests dividing roles in each area in order to help the player reach Zygarde, who is waiting at [[Magenta District]]. Jacinthe does not appear to help the player battle rampaging Rogue Mega-Evolved Pokémon, instead tasking Lebanne to help the player while she works to liaise with the mayor and mobilize forces to defend the city. Jacinthe does eventually appear in person after the battle, right as Lebanne complains about her personality, and Jacinthe makes a mental note to review Lebanne's attitude later. When more Rogue Mega-Evolved Pokémon appear, Jacinthe and Lebanne together activate a Jacinthe zone barrier to entrap the Pokémon and stop their rampage. In the credits, Jacinthe leads her SBC members in their efforts to help out after the incident with [[Prism Tower]], by setting up Jacinthe zones to quarantine and battle the remaining Rogue Mega-Evolved Pokémon.

The player first meets Lysandre in [[Professor Sycamore]]'s lab in [[Lumiose City]] seeing potential in them, and then later in Café Soleil where he is seen talking to [[Diantha]] about her acting career. He discusses with her about the idea of eternal beauty, but she quickly dismisses the idea, claiming that she does not look for such a thing, much to Lysandre's annoyance. After this, he spots the player, where he speaks about his dream of a beautiful world.

Following this, Lysandre doesn't reappear until much later, after the player has defeated [[Clemont]] for their fifth Badge. This time, he speaks about the [[AZ|king of Kalos]] who nearly vaporized all life in the region 3,000 years ago by usage of a weapon. He also speaks about Xerneas's{{sup/6|X}}/Yveltal's{{sup/6|Y}} role in the creation of the [[ultimate weapon]], as well as their role in the creation of life and destruction as a whole. After this, Lysandre will regularly communicate with the player through the [[Holo Caster]], monitoring their progress, and constantly showing his vision for a beautiful world as well as asking them to reconsider his proposal and join him on his cause.

Lysandre then appears after the player has received their seventh Badge. At this point, it is revealed through his Holo Caster message that he is the leader of [[Team Flare]], and that he plans to use the weapon which he spoke about earlier in order to eliminate anyone not part of Team Flare, surprising both the player and their neighbor. The player later confronts Lysandre in person at the lab beneath his café. He wishes to test the player's resolve, and is then battled and defeated. Admiring the player's resolve and strength, he instructs them that if they wish to stop him, he must get the elevator key from one of Team Flare's four scientists the player already met, while he retreats underground.

After the player obtains the Key and descends further into the lab, they meet with Lysandre who is speaking with a tall man behind bars known as AZ. Lysandre introduces AZ as someone who "shares the name of the previous King of Kalos", and the carrier the key of the ultimate weapon. After AZ tells the player the tragedy left by the ultimate weapon and asks them to stop the device from being used, Lysandre invites the player deeper underground if they wish to stop him. The player descends and meets Lysandre talking with [[Xerosic]]. Lysandre then tells the player to battle Xerosic, and if they are successful against the scientist, then they will stop their scheme. After the player defeats Xerosic, he has them push one of two buttons, one of which activates the weapon. However, pushing the correct one unfortunately does not stop Xerosic from unleashing the weapon on Kalos. (If the player chooses the blue button he will activate the weapon by remote control, otherwise the player activates the weapon.)

Lysandre is later found again at the site of the ultimate weapon in [[Geosenge Town]], where the player's rival questions him about his extreme measures to fix the world. He replies that those measures are the only possible solution because he thinks humans are inherently evil and greedy. He uses the analogy of them competing over their [[Mega Ring]] as an example that when something cannot be shared, people will fight for it, and some will be forced to live without it. As such, more tragedies are likely to happen, and, the only solution is to reduce the human population. When further questioned about Pokémon, he tearfully claims that Pokémon, while magnificent beings, are condemned to be used by humans as tools for war and theft. Therefore, he believes that Pokémon, for the greater good, are best annihilated.

He is battled again, as he simply seeks to stall for time against the player. The player defeats Lysandre once again, and he shows further admiration for the player's strength. He then challenges the player to travel deeper into the [[Team Flare Secret HQ]] to stop the weapon, despite his belief that it is already too late, but multiple members of Team Flare are waiting in ambush on the lower floors. After defeating them, the player reaches Xerneas or Yveltal. The legendary Pokémon is then battled and caught by the player, seemingly disabling the weapon. Lysandre returns wearing the Lysandre Machine, which is intended to drain Xerneas's{{sup/6|X}}/Yveltal's{{sup/6|Y}} energy back into the Ultimate Weapon, and he declares that he will take the legendary Pokémon back and complete his plan. Now wielding a Mega Ring of his own, he engages the player in a final battle.

After being defeated for the third and final time, Lysandre expresses his disgust towards the fact that his beautiful world will never be a reality. The player and their friends attempt to reason with him, saying that if people cooperate together, a better world is possible, and they use the Mega Evolution achieved by him as proof of the bond he has with his Pokémon. He, however, rejects the idea as mere naivety and then attempts to 'force immortality on the player, their friends, and himself'{{sup/6|X}}/'kill everyone in the building'{{sup/6|Y}} and fires the ultimate weapon using what little power still remains. Hearing this, the player and their friends quickly leave, after which the blast from the weapon destroys the building and seemingly buries Lysandre and the HQ under rubble, putting an end to Team Flare's threat.

Later on in the game, an NPC in [[Snowbelle City]] who is an old friend of Lysandre mentions that Lysandre had noble intentions and did his best to help people in need, but was eventually convinced of humanity's stupidity, along with his own limitations which resulted in him becoming a misanthrope.

As revealed in {{G|Legends: Z-A}}, Lysandre survived his supposed demise in Pokémon X and Y thanks to {{Ga|Zygarde}}, but lost much of his memory in the process. Due to using the ultimate weapon, his body was altered in a similar way to AZ's, cursing him to live for three thousand years. As Zygarde had exhausted its power at the time, it tasked Lysandre to help it recover its strength in preparation for a [[Ange|future threat]] to Kalos.

An [[Pokémon multiverse|alternate universe]] version of Lysandre appears as a member of [[Team Rainbow Rocket]] and one of the second pair of bosses the player must face, along with [[Cyrus]]. Like the other {{cat|villainous team leaders}} in Team Rainbow Rocket, this Lysandre was summoned from a world where his plans succeeded. However, as he explains to the player, a bright light consumed him when he fired the [[ultimate weapon]] and was transported to the game's world. He has his {{tc|Team Rainbow Rocket Grunt}}s set up devices with red and blue buttons in his office within [[Team Rocket's Castle]]. Then, he subjects the player to the same choice the player in Kalos was subjected to, claiming that one button will activate the ultimate weapon and the other will open the path to [[Giovanni]]. However, no matter which button the player chooses, it will be the one that activates the weapon. Lysandre then tells the player that pushing the opposite button will prevent it from firing. However, in order to buy time for the weapon to fire, Lysandre battles the player, using Xerneas{{sup/7|US}}/Yveltal{{sup/7|UM}} as part of his team. When he is defeated, he allows the player to press the other button, ostensibly shutting down the ultimate weapon, as well as unlocking one of the two seals needed to reach Giovanni. Lysandre then wonders if things would have been different in his world if he had met a Trainer like the player. He then rejects that line of thought, resolving that he must bring about his beautiful world. He is later sent back to his own world by [[Colress]] off-screen.

Lysandre first meets the player under the pseudonym of "'''L'''". He warns the player about the coming crisis in Lumiose City and tells them that they must become a Trainer worthy of Zygarde's trust in order to stop it. Later on, he helps by gathering nearly all of Zygarde's Cells in order for it to assume its Complete Forme and defeat the rogue machine, [[Ange]].

After the player's first reward match in the Infinite [[Z-A Royale]], L comes to [[Hotel Z]] to speak with them about AZ, telling them about how the two had talked about the agony of being unable to die and about AZ's good and heinous deeds, including Ange. L surmises that Ange's influence resulted in more wild Pokémon gathering throughout Lumiose, wondering if it is right that people and Pokémon are kept at arm's length of each other with the city's holo-tech barriers. He wonders if people will find another way, stating that he looks forward to seeing what the people of Lumiose choose. L then explains that more of his memory returned following his conversation with the player in Lysandre Labs, having recalled the existence of Xerneas and Yveltal. He also informs them that since Ange was destroyed, Zygarde has not shown itself, likely due to it having exhausted its power and retreated somewhere to quietly recover. L requests the player to find Xerneas and Yveltal.

After the player catches Xerneas and Yveltal, L appears before the player outside Hotel Z. He explains that he knows that he tried to give too much to the world in the past, and because his good deeds saw no reward, he wallowed in despair and resentment and decided to take everything for himself instead. He explains how Zygarde seeks to correct excess and restore balance to the world, believing that to be the reason Zygarde rescued him. L then challenges the player to a battle. Reflecting on his mistakes, L expresses regret over having fired the ultimate weapon, and later escorts the player to the ruins of [[Prism Tower]] so that they can battle and catch Zygarde. L entrusts Zygarde to the player and gives them the [[Zygarde Cube]] to change its form. Declaring that he still wishes to create a more beautiful world, L nonetheless admits that his methods were flawed, and thus he sets off with the resolve to find a better way to realize his dreams.

Further information on Lysandre and Team Flare's original plan is disclosed during the player's visit to the ruins of Lysandre Labs. It is revealed that five years earlier, as Team Flare was preparing to execute Lysandre's agenda, he initially envisioned using both Ange and the ultimate weapon at the same time. However, because AZ's missing {{p|Floette}} was required to activate Ange, Lysandre could not do so, and he was forced to settle for using only the ultimate weapon.

It was revealed that in the past, he defeated Alain in a battle over an [[Ampharosite]], then took Alain to [[Lysandre Labs]] and recruited him to work in a project to harness the energy of Mega Evolution for peaceful purposes. Lysandre was also the one who awarded Alain his Mega Ring and Charizardite X, though he asked Alain to not tell Professor Sycamore of the research, fearing that people with bad intentions would bring harm to him in order to obtain it. Later, he traveled with Alain, [[Mairin]], and Steven to a ruin, where they uncovered an ancient [[Giant Rock]]. However, his research on the Giant Rock accidentally summoned {{DL|Super-ancient Pokémon (XY series)|Rayquaza}}, who destroyed the area. After the encounter with Rayquaza, Lysandre discovered a similar energy reading to the Giant Rock near [[Rustboro City]], and asked Alain to go there and investigate. Later, he reappeared in [[XY107|the next episode]], overseeing the operation to capture [[Z2]] alongside Xerosic. At the end of the episode, he received Z2.

Lysandre reappeared in ''[[XY118|Championing a Research Battle!]]'' and ''[[XY119|A Full-Strength Battle Surprise!]]'', where he received mission reports from Xerosic.

In ''[[XY129|Kalos League Passion with a Certain Flare!]]'', Lysandre was talking to a man inside a building at the [[Lumiose Conference]]. He soon got a call on a Holo Caster that an {{tc|Team Flare Admin|Admin}} was holding, from Xerosic, who was in the front seat of a truck that was just outside the [[Lumiose Gym]]. Later on at night, he met {{Ash}} for the first time and discussed the capability of [[Ash's Greninja]] to take on its different form in battle. After his conversation with him, he was shown with an annoyed expression, before turning towards the Lumiose Gym and smirked. Lysandre later talked to Mairin after she ran up to him and he put on a happy expression. The next day, Lysandre was seated in a private viewing box inside the Lumiose Conference's stadium with a glass window, along with Mairin and the same Admin, and they all watched as Ash and Alain each walked towards their respective sides of the battlefield in the Lumiose Conference's stadium, for the final round of the Conference.

In ''[[XY130|Finals Not for the Faint-Hearted!]]'' and ''[[XY131|Down to the Fiery Finish!]]'', Lysandre watched Ash and Alain's battle in the finals of the Lumiose Conference. Towards the end of the latter episode, his true egotistical, narcissistic nature is revealed as he uses the power of Z2 to bring the whole of Kalos into his control, taking over Lumiose City and subsequently the Lumiose Conference, which had just been concluded.

In ''[[XY132|A Towering Takeover!]]'', Lysandre revealed himself as the leader of Team Flare to a captured Ash. He also televised a message to the citizens of Kalos about his plan for creating a new, beautiful world for Team Flare.

In ''Coming Apart at the Dreams!'', Lysandre explained his motivations and attempted to control Ash and Greninja the same way he did with Zygarde, so that Ash could become the guide of the new world. Ash, however, defied Lysandre and used the [[Bond Phenomenon]] to break free. Following this turn of events, Lysandre equipped his machine and started a fight with Ash and the defecting Alain using his Pyroar and his Shiny Mega Gyarados. Pyroar was defeated through a joint attack by {{AP|Noivern}}, {{AP|Hawlucha}}, and {{AP|Pikachu}}.

In ''[[XY134|The Right Hero for the Right Job!]]'', Lysandre defeated the majority of Ash's team. He was surprised when Malva appeared to help Alain and Ash, but nonetheless remained confident even after Clemont and Bonnie freed the two Zygarde under his control.

In ''[[XY135|Rocking Kalos Defenses!]]'', Lysandre was finally beaten by Ash and Alain. Refusing to surrender, Lysandre seemingly killed himself by jumping off the tower. It was afterwards revealed that Lysandre had planned for the Giant Rock to transform into a copy of Zygarde, which would engulf the [[Anistar City]] Sundial and release enough energy to wipe out all life on the planet.

He made one final appearance in ''[[XY136|Forming a More Perfect Union!]]''. After the Giant Rock was temporarily stopped by Ash, Alain, Steven, Malva, [[Diantha]], and all of the Kalos [[Gym Leader]]s and [[Chespie]] was freed from it's control, Lysandre appears and revives the Giant Rock himself using a control device, announcing he still intends to destroy the world even if it means he has to die too. He lost control of the Rock after the device was destroyed by Ash and Alain, and was defeated entirely by Squishy and Z2 after they transformed into Zygarde Complete Forme and destroyed the Giant Rock. In ''[[PS558|What Does Charmander Do When It Dozes]]'', Professor Sycamore sent {{adv|Trevor}} and his friends to [[Lysandre Labs|Lysandre Café]] to get repairs for Trevor's [[Holo Caster]]. The group was introduced to Lysandre, but Trevor became suspicious of the man after seeing his silhouette in a photo taken during the Vaniville incident. Noting Trevor's strange behavior, Lysandre asked to see the photo, even using his Pokémon to surround the group when Trevor refused. [[Diantha]] arrived and used her [[Mega Evolution|Mega]] {{TP|Diantha|Gardevoir}} to defend Trevor's group. Lysandre backed off and left to answer a call from [[Xerosic]], who had discovered the location of Xerneas's tree form.

In ''[[PS577|Quilladin Stands]]'', Lysandre returned to the [[Team Flare Secret HQ]] after Xerneas's tree form had been successfully transported. He received the Lysandre Machine, which [[Clemont]] was forced to build, and a Mega Ring, which had its [[Key Stone]] stolen from [[Korrina]]. Lysandre and Xerosic began draining Xerneas of its life energy to fuel the [[ultimate weapon]]. {{adv|X}} later broke into the building to put an end to [[Team Flare]]'s ambitions. He found the ultimate weapon's control room and confronted Lysandre, who used his Mega Ring to Mega Evolve his {{p|Gyarados}}. During their battle, X had his [[Élec]] use its {{a|Lightning Rod}} to pull electricity from the ultimate weapon's absorber into its tail, draining the machine of its power. This allowed Xerneas to awaken from its slumber and revert back to normal.

In ''[[PS580|Flabébé Blooms]]'', Trevor, {{adv|Tierno}}, {{adv|Shauna}}, [[Clemont]], [[Emma]], and [[AZ]] arrived at the control room, where they found X had already been defeated. Trevor, Tierno, and Shauna tried removing the ultimate weapon's key but were unable to pull it out in time before it fired. To Lysandre's frustration, the combined efforts of X and his friends successfully weakened the ultimate weapon, preventing it from taking any innocent lives. AZ stayed behind to allow Xerneas to escape back to the surface with X and the others. When Malva attempted to confront X's group with Yveltal, Lysandre ordered a ceasefire due to it and Xerneas being evenly matched. Xerneas confirmed this and retreated, taking X and the others with it.

In ''[[PS582|Pinsir Glares]]'', Team Flare was revealed to have blamed the destruction caused by the ultimate weapon on X's friends and the Gym Leaders. They moved operations to the [[Pokémon Village]] to keep a low profile. When Xerosic later discovered the stones lining {{rt|10|Kalos}} are an older form of the absorber, Team Flare began using them to drain the life energy of the Pokémon living at the village. These actions earned Team Flare the anger of {{adv|Mewtwo}}, who protected the Pokémon Village. In ''[[PS590|Yveltal Steals]]'', X and {{adv|Blue}} found Lysandre in battle with Mewtwo at the village. Hoping to have Mewtwo weakened enough for capture, Lysandre tried to trick it into attacking X and Blue, only for {{adv|Blaine}} to arrive and Mega Evolve Mewtwo into its Y form.

In ''[[PS591|Mewtwo Angered]]'', Lysandre summoned [[Emma|Essentia]] and used a device to control her like a puppet. By talking into the device, Essentia would repeat Lysandre's words, allowing him to command the {{adv|Zygarde}} she had caught earlier. While Blaine and Mewtwo kept Zygarde still, X defeated Essentia, uncovering her true identity as his friend Emma. With some words of encouragement from X and [[Cassius]], Emma betrayed Lysandre, but was attacked by his Gyarados before she could command Zygarde. Lysandre took Zygarde's [[Poké Ball]], only for {{adv|Y}} to arrive and take his Mega Ring. Although he was angered by this, Lysandre made an announcement to the entire Kalos region, informing the public of Team Flare's plan to destroy everything with the ultimate weapon. By borrowing Key Stones from his allies, X was able to activate Mega Evolution for his entire team at once.

In ''[[PS593|Xerneas Gives]]'', Lysandre used Zygarde to battle X's Mega-Evolved team. As the battle went on, X's friends noticed Zygarde's body was breaking apart due to Xerneas and Yveltal reverting to their tree and cocoon forms. Once they fully reverted, X had his team launch one final attack, fully separating Zygarde. Malva attempted to save Lysandre from falling, only for both to land onto the rubble below.
