I heard once that lowering the Ditto or Trainer Pokémon's Attack modifier lowers the resulting wild Pokémon's level. Like if you use Growl six times on the Youngster's Slowpoke before beating it, the Mew will be L. 1. Since you can't increase its Attack, it can't get any higher than L. 7. The glitch isn't working right for me. Here's what I did:
1. Caught an Abra.
2. Saved.
3. walked to the Junior Trainer next to the bridge
4. Opened the menu.
5. Teleported.
6. He saw me, but I ended up in Cerulean City.
OK, I'm done with the bad explaining.
7. Fought the Youngster with the Slowpoke.
8. Won.
9. Saved.
What I did first:
10. Teleported to Cerulean City.
11. Went to the Nugget Bridge.
12. The menu opened itself!
13. I closed it.
14. Mew didn't appear! I read the article, so I soft resetted.
After that, I tried this:
10. Walked to Cerulean City.
11. When I left the Route, the menu appeared!
12. I closed it.
13. Mew didn't appear!

I can't believe people are still insisting that "feat" is a misspelling of "feet". If anyone even bothered to read a dictionary definition, one can tell that feat is most definitely a word, and as such, can deduce that the Jr. Trainer (Camper in ) was referring to the act of the player character clearing the Nugget Bridge challenge. In fact, given the barriers across the water, it would make absolutely no sense for the Jr. Trainer to claim he saw the player's feet. In conclusion, the line as given in the game is correct as it is, and any attempt to change the correct "feat" to the incorrect "feet", especially if citing a "spelling error", will result in a warning, and potentially a block if things go too far. --Shiningpikablu252 05:40, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
Pokemon List
Most of the fights with the Rival or fights against Gym Leaders won't let any pokemon appear. Same goes for some other event trainer fights, like with the Rocket Grunt in Cerulean City who stole the TM28 (Dig). To fight certain trainers sometimes it is required to fight a "dummy" trainer before them, to be able to reach them by using HM moves (i.e. cut, surf, fly etc.) and/or talk to them to trigger the fight when they face a wall or another character. The Pokemon which appears will always be the same, no matter which "dummy" trainer has been fought beforehand.

Pokemons spawned by the Rival may differ depending on which starter you choose.
There are several trainers with which you can make this bug occour, with one being on Route 12 and 2 inside the Rock Tunnel (A Pokemon with Dig or Escape Rope are needed though) and probably some more.
Probably this glitch allows to catch all 151 Pokemons in the Red/Blue Version, without having to do any trades with other players, yet to prove this all trainers need to be fought first.
:When you reappear on the route which you escaped from the Trainer after getting the ability to use the start menu back, the game loads the last dialogue box in memory (this can be changed by talking to people, reading signs, etc.) If the event data doesn't match/doesn't exist on another Route then it will be different text which partly corresponds somehow to the former text. You might not even get a Pokémon at the end of it. For example, if you used Fly from a Trainer on 6, battled a Trainer on 11 (the Pokémon you encounter if you get an instant encounter corresponds to the Special stat of their last Pokémon), then decided to talk to the NPC who tells you about pollution and Grimer in Vermillion City when you return to Route 6 the equivalent text happens to be "Who's there? Stop listening in on us!" (one of the Jr. Trainer (M)'s on that Route) or his after battle text "Whisper... whisper..." This results in a 'slow-motion steps' glitch. If you replace this NPC with one of the Town Maps indoors in Vermillion City it results in glitch text and a freeze. An incomplete list of possibilities by glitchuntress can be found here.

:IIRC, even having the start menu as the last dialogue box opened might be different text on certain routes, but its often just the same. I can't really remember, but here's a couple of examples to get the 'chemistry grade' text; after doing the Trainer-escape glitch from 8 talk to the NPC in Lavender Town who asks if you believe in ghosts as the last dialog box instead of the start menu, or alternatively go to the Lavender Town PokéMart and talk to the shopkeeper before returning to the route. This also spawns a double battle glitch with the Pokémaniac and the same slow motion glitch. --Chickasaurus 15:59, 4 December 2011 (UTC)
New Twist On Ditto Method
I'm new to editing Bulbapedia, so I don't know all the conventions here, but I discovered something myself a few years back regarding the Ditto method of this Mew Glitch. It goes like this:

:1. After fleeing from the first trainer go to a PC and press the A button, which should open the PC.
:2. Change your current BOX (which saves the game) and then exit the PC and restart your game.
:3. The MENU should now open when START is pressed. FLY to INDIGO PLATEAU.
:4. Beat the ELITE FOUR. And you must beat them, you can't just lose to LORELEI to save time (I tried).
:5. Go find your Ditto and have it transform into whatever Pokemon you want it too, then beat it.
:6. Get to the location of the trainer you fled from first and the glitch will end normally.

So the point is: (1) It's possible to access the start menu before you beat another trainer and (2) you can execute this glitch if you have no more "normal" trainers to fight (except for someone to flee from, obviously), so it can be performed over and over to attain whatever the player wants. I just tested this twice on my Blue version and it worked both times, so I assume it would work on Red and Yellow as well. This seems like relevant information to me, so if someone wants to work it into the article that'd be great. Thanks! Mr. Wright 14:36, 8 August 2011 (UTC)
interesting tip
Thought it would be worth mentioning that multiple uses of this glitch caused the snorlax outside of Vermilion to disapear in American Red for me (abused the heck out of the safari zone and strong trainers). Also, maybe a list of which trainers generate what should be made, for example, abusing the Abra and Jr Trainer method after clearing nugget bridge, i encounted a pair of Nidoqueen, a Lapras, a Gengar, and a cubone (i didn't do it for the entire northern section), and of course mew. Also, the Rocker just outside of the Fishing Guru's Brother's house produces a Missingno, while i didn't want my items duplicated, i had a nugget in the slot so i won't say i was displeased.
History
spoiler
Zoroark and her adopted child Zorua were abducted in Unova by the film's antagonist, businessman Grings Kodai. After seeing Zoroark's skill in illusions, Kodai threatened Zorua's safety in order to blackmail Zoroark into attacking Crown City under the guises of Raikou, Entei, and Suicune. Though Zorua was able to escape from Kodai's ship, Zoroark was unaware of the fact and continued to attack the city in exchange for Zorua's safety. She begins destroying the surrounding city in illusions of its destruction, transforming into the legendary beasts one by one: causings floods as Suicune, walls of fire as Entei, and destroying priceless statues as Raikou. While this happened, Kodai edited the videos that recorded Zoroark attacking the area, making it seem that Zoroark was actually destroying Crown City instead of making illusions of its destruction. Once the task was done, Zoroark was imprisoned once again and taken back to Kodai's airship, having been lured into a trap by a projection image of Zorua made by Goone. She is seen trying and failing to break free of the cage inside the ship.

Hearing Zorua's cry for help, Zoroark found the strength and motivation to break free of her prison and began making her way to where Zorua is. However, the three legendary beasts that serve as guardians of Crown City saw Zoroark as a threat, believing her to be the cause of the city's destruction, and attacked her. Zoroark's battle with the three beasts made its way through the town, with Zoroark trying to drive them off long enough for her to get to Zorua. When the legendary beasts corners Zoroark once again, Zoroark used an illusion to trap the legendary beasts in thorn-covered vines in retaliation, but Rowena breaks the illusion and frees them. The wild Pokémon who took shelter came to the legendary beasts, trying to explain to them that Zoroark isn't the enemy. Zoroark is confused, but stops attacking as well.

With the misunderstanding settled, Zoroark continues making her way towards the stadium, defeating Goone and his Pokémon along the way in a vengeful fury. Zoroark finally reaches the Pokémon Baccer World Cup Stadium, intent on saving her child and taking her revenge on Kodai. Before she can reach him, Kodai reveals he has recaptured Zorua and threatens to kill the child, electrocuting Zorua to prove his point. Seeing this, Zoroark has no choice but to stop and allow herself to be brutally assaulted by Kodai's Shuppet. However, when it seemed that Kodai finally absorbed the power of the ripple of time, Zoroark smirks as he's horrified to find it was all an illusion she created. Zoroark's deception allowed Karl to catch Kodai gloating about his actions to Ash on camera.
With Kodai's plan seemingly ruined, Zoroark is finally able to move in to reunite with Zorua, who tries shakily to reach his mother in return. However, their reunion is soon interupted by Kodai, who sent his Shuppet to attack Zorua with Shadow Ball only for Zoroark dive into its path and take the attack to protect her son. Before she can recover from the attack, the enraged Kodai attacks and mortally injures Zoroark by electrocuting her, but she manages to counterattack with Dark Pulse, destroying Kodai's time ripple absorbing claw and defeating his Shuppet while Ash and Dawn manage to defeat his Mismagius. The tables now turned, Zoroark moves in on the now defenseless Kodai, only for him to make a run for the ripple of time and be cut off by the arrival of the legendary beasts, sending Kodai running for his life. However, Zoroark suddenly collapses from the wounds sustained in the fight, having taken too much damage to continue. In a final act of revenge on the man who'd kidnapped her child, Zoroark uses her Illusion ability on Kodai one last time, who was seeking shelter at the World Cup Stadium, making him believe he has escaped to the safety of his airship, only for her to cancel out the illusion and send Kodai falling from a high balcony to the field below, knocking him out cold. Zoroark lets out a satisfied smile after finally avenging the suffering that Kodai caused her and her child, and closes her eyes.

Zorua cries out for his mother and attempted to wake her, but with no success, and everyone fears the worst. After regaining its strength with the use of the real ripple of time, Celebi uses the energy field in order to revive Zoroark. Zoroark awakens, then embraces her beloved son, finally reunited. Alongside the main protagonists and her son, Zoroark then corners Kodai as he awakens, the tape of him gloating about his past actions that devastated Crown City twenty years ago being broadcast live to the entire town. Exposed, Kodai is arrested for his crimes and Zoroark lets out one last roar, justice having finally been done. The next morning, Zorua and Zoroark are boarded on a ship heading back to Unova with Karl and Rowena. Before they departed, Zoroark took on the form of Pikachu and she returned to her original form when Zorua had taken on the form of Ash, playing along with his trick.

In the credits, Zoroark and Zorua were last seen nuzzling each other affectionately when the ship approaches a mist-covered island, presumbaly their homeland.

Personality
Zoroark is the adopted mother of Zorua, who refers to her as 'Meema' ('Maa' in the original version). She loves Zorua very much and is extremely protective of him, willing to go to any lengths to protect him from harm, including risking her own life. However, Grings Kodai uses this trait against her in order to force her to follow his orders.

Zoroark is also shown to have a sense of vengeance, as towards the end of the film, she went out her way to defeat Goone, Kodai's right-hand man, on her way to confronting Kodai and ultimately using her illusion powers to defeat Kodai herself. She is extremely strong, able to fight Raikou, Entei, and Suicune all at once to a draw. Her strength is greatly admired by her child Zorua, who looks up to her and wishes to be just as strong as she is one day.

While Zoroark does love Zorua, she has shown defiance and an unwillingness to cooperate for many humans, being distrustful of them. In the original version of the film, she specifically told Zorua to never talk to humans (which was changed to 'strangers' in the English dub). However, she does befriend Ash and company after they help her rescue her child and defeat Kodai.

She also has some degree of Zorua's playfulness, as she turned into Pikachu at the end to play along with Zorua's trick.
Trivia
* Zoroark is the first Pokémon star of a movie to have both its gender and ability confirmed. Darkrai shares this as well, though only in the English dub.
** Coincidentally, they're both of the Dark, and they both appeared in a Diamond & Pearl series movie.
* Zoroark often lets Zorua sleep inside her mane. This is similar to what Ash's newest traveling companion in Best Wishes, Iris, does with her Iris.
* In its movie debut, Zoroark isn't shown to have the ability to communicate to people using telepathy like Zorua.
* due to the reaction to a Shiny fateful encounter Entei, Raikou, or Suicune and a coment made after it's encounter, the Zoruark in Lostlorn Forest may be one in the same.
** The event between Fateful Encounter Celebi and Zorua further supports this.
