:You have to hunt for the location that she's in after meeting her for the first time. She's in one of the 15 locations; it can be soft-reset; however, you can't "leave the place and come back" because the location is set then. From my own experience, you can start your trading with Yancy from the thirtieth call, not the fiftieth - as long as you have obtained the National Pokédex. She will only trade once a day as usual. I know the Dropped item is supposed to be in the Nimbasa amusement park, but when I went there to look for it, it wasn't there. I really don't believe Chimmy is going to evolve in this next episode. I saw the preview on youtube, and it just looks like Paul drives him completely berserk. I could see the poor thing break down. What's wrong with the users?
They are continuously changing the Monferno's main picture.That picture was looking awesome in which Ash was standing behind Monferno. Everyday i see a new picture, what's going on here. Just ask from the administrator (I will prefer KENJI Girl or any other) and then decide it.

Recently, i watched pokemon season 10 (Complete).
I have a question in my mind that when chimchar / monferno used fury swipes.
I watched each and every single episode of pokemon dp season 10 and chimchar never used it in any episode. Along with that i didn't noticed chimchar ever using fury swipes in any episode either.
I know chimchar used Scratch a lot of times and it looks quite similar to Fury Swipes but i don't think that chimchar knows Fury Swipes at least chimchar never used it in season 10.
I will watch season 11 again and confirm this thing.
What do you say about it?

I was just wondering, is it worth noting Infernape's repeated usage throughout Sinnoh in its personality or trivia sections? I noticed that, in four out of the five Gym battles it was in ([[Fantina]], [[Byron]], [[Candice]], and [[Volkner]]), it defeated two Pokemon out of three/four. Also, it defeated half of [[Paul]]'s team during the full battle between Ash and Paul in the Sinnoh League. If for no other reason, it would expand Infernape's personality section a bit (which could also use some bolstering with the issues with Paul/fear of Zangoose/Blaze control details). Infernape was once a Chimchar owned by Paul. Prior to events of the Diamond and Pearl series, Paul saw Chimchar being chased by a group of {{p|Zangoose}}. The situation looked bad for Chimchar, but in its stress it pulled off an extremely powerful {{m|Flame Wheel}}. This impressed Paul enough to add Chimchar to his regular team. However, this first impression did not match up to Chimchar's normal abilities, resulting in Paul criticizing it for being weak. Traumatized, Chimchar gained a morbid fear of all {{p|Zangoose}}.

Chimchar's first episode was ''[[DP003|When Pokémon Worlds Collide!]]'' where Paul used it to battle [[Dawn's Ambipom|Ash's Aipom]]. It fought well, but lost in the end. Chimchar reappeared in ''[[DP006|Different Strokes for Different Blokes]]'' where it won against [[Ash's Torterra|Ash's Turtwig]] and ''[[DP015|Shapes of Things to Come!]]'' where it beat [[Roark]]'s {{p|Onix}} but lost to [[Roark's Rampardos|Roark's Cranidos]].

After losing to [[Cynthia's Garchomp]] in ''[[DP040|Top-Down Training]]'', Paul realized that Chimchar was not fulfilling his expectations. This culminated in the [[Hearthome City Tag Battle Competition]], where he was forced to battle alongside Ash. That night, Ash discovered Paul's training regime, which involved his Pokémon attacking Chimchar in the hopes of recreating the power he had seen before. Ash intervened and took Chimchar to the Pokémon Center where Nurse Joy told Paul it would be unable to battle. Paul ignored this warning.

During the next battle against a Zangoose and a {{p|Metagross}}, Chimchar was too scared to make any attack when caught in Zangoose's claws, and had to be saved by Turtwig, who was seriously injured as a result. Chimchar made up for this by protecting Turtwig from a {{m|Fire Blast}} attack. Furious at Chimchar, Paul refused to give any orders. Consequently, Ash gave Chimchar commands for the remainder of the battle. After the battle, Paul released Chimchar in front of Ash, who then invited it to join him.

In the final round of the competition, Paul and Ash selected {{TP|Paul|Elekid|Electivire}} and Chimchar for their last battle in ''[[DP052|Smells Like Team Spirit!]]'' against [[Conway]]'s {{p|Heracross}} and [[Ash's Buizel|Dawn's Buizel]]. During the battle, Elekid evolved into Electabuzz, and they both combined {{m|Thunder}} and Flamethrower on Buizel and Heracross to knock them out. This victory meant that Ash and Paul won the Hearthome City Tag Battle Tournament.

In ''[[DP053|Tears For Fears!]]'', Ash and his friends had a picnic party. Chimchar watched the Pokémon having fun and it kept having flashbacks of when it was still in Paul's possession reflecting on how its former Trainer treated it as opposed to how Ash does, after which it cried tears of joy as it was finally treated with patience and kindness by Ash and {{ashfr}}, something Paul failed to do as its Trainer. In the same episode, Chimchar overcame its morbid fear of Zangoose stated above.

In ''[[DP068|A Triple Fighting Chance!]]'' Ash used Chimchar in his Gym Battle against the [[Veilstone City]] [[Gym Leader]], [[Maylene]]. Chimchar battled {{p|Meditite}}, but was recalled after Meditite confused it. It was then sent out against {{TP|Maylene|Lucario}} where it was ultimately defeated, despite a valiant effort.

In ''[[DP081|Chim - Charred!]]'', Ash and co. came across Paul. Ash and Paul had an enormous argument at which point an enraged Ash challenged Paul to a battle. Chimchar volunteered to go up against Paul and faced [[Paul's Ursaring]]. Ursaring and Paul used brutal tactics, and Chimchar was pushed to the point of using {{a|Blaze}}. Chimchar easily defeated Ursaring, but went on an uncontrollable rampage. Ash ran up to Chimchar and grabbed it, begging it to stop. Chimchar continued to struggle, biting Ash at one point. Eventually, it was embraced by Ash and Chimchar calmed down.

Later in ''[[DP097|Double Team Turnover!]]'', when battling [[Team Galactic]], Chimchar protected Pikachu from a {{m|Poison Jab}} launched by [[Saturn's Toxicroak]]. In ''[[DP108|Dealing With Defensive Types!]]'', it was used in the battle against [[Byron]]'s {{p|Bastiodon}}, {{p|Bronzor}} and {{p|Steelix}}. It defeated Bronzor and Steelix, but eventually fell to Bastiodon. This mirrors {{AP|Staravia|Staraptor}}'s previous participation in the [[DP068|third Gym]], with it defeating the Gym Leader's first two Pokémon and losing to their third.

In ''[[DP132|Evolving Strategies!]]'', Chimchar was used in the full battle Ash had against Paul. It defeated [[Paul's Ursaring]], which had previously taken down three of Ash's Pokémon, and evolved soon after into a {{p|Monferno}}, immediately learning {{m|Mach Punch}}. After being struck by a {{m|Hydro Cannon}} and sent crashing into the forest nearby, Monferno entered once again into an uncontrollable rampage with {{a|Blaze}}, but managed to control it in the last second in order to save [[Ash's Pikachu]], [[Dawn's Piplup]], [[Paul's Electivire|Paul's Electabuzz]] and Barry's Empoleon from {{TRT}}'s falling [[Team Rocket's mechas|mecha]], evolving into an {{p|Infernape}} in the process.

In ''[[DP165|Flint Sparks the Fire!]]'', Ash used Infernape in a battle against [[Flint's Infernape]]. However, despite its power and speed, it was unable to keep up with Flint's Infernape and was quickly knocked out with a Mach Punch.

In ''[[DP179|The Eighth Wonder of the Sinnoh World!]]'', Infernape participated in Ash's rematch against [[Volkner]]. It defeated Volkner's {{p|Jolteon}} with a Mach Punch. When it battled Volkner's {{p|Luxray}}, it took severe damage, pushing it to activate Blaze. This time, however, Infernape was able to control itself and defeat Luxray with a powerful Flame Wheel, giving Ash the victory and the {{badge|Beacon}}.

Before the [[Lily of the Valley Conference]], Ash decided he would need help from his previously caught Pokémon. Due to this, Infernape, along with Ash's Sinnoh party (save for {{AP|Pikachu}}) were all sent to Professor Oak's Laboratory. [[DP185|Later]] during the tournament Ash recalled Infernape to his team and trained against [[Brock's Sudowoodo]] to improve {{m|Flame Wheel}} when Infernape suddenly learned {{m|Flare Blitz}}.

Infernape was later used in [[DP186|the full battle]] against Paul's {{p|Aggron}}, where it managed to burn Aggron with {{m|Flare Blitz}} before finally defeating it with {{m|Mach Punch}}. Ash decided to recall it when Paul sent out his {{p|Gastrodon}}. [[DP187|Later on]] it was sent out again to battle Paul's {{p|Ninjask}}. Ninjask's {{m|Agility}} was getting the better of it so Ash told it to use {{m|Dig}} then {{m|Flare Blitz}} which heated up the field, causing fire to erupt out of the ground, which made a mist cover the whole field that damaged Ninjask and also canceled {{p|Drapion}}'s {{m|Toxic Spikes}} attack. After putting up a good fight, Infernape was able to defeat Ninjask with a powerful {{m|Mach Punch}}, knocking it out in a single hit. Infernape battled [[Paul's Electivire]] in a heated battle to in ''[[DP188|Battling a Thaw in Relations!]]'' where it did severe damage to it, but after a long fight, it was caught by Electivire, and took so much damage from the Electivire's Thunder attack that the referee had almost declared it unable to battle, but Blaze was once again activated, giving Infernape the strength to defeat the Thunderbolt Pokémon with a devastating Flare Blitz attack.

Ash left Infernape at [[Professor Oak's Laboratory]] when he decided to go to [[Unova]].

==Personality and characteristics==
Infernape, as a Chimchar, was usually a very sweet and kind Pokémon, until {{a|Blaze}} was activated and it went on a rampage until it could be stopped by {{Ash}}. Every time Chimchar saw Paul, it would get really fired up and determined to defeat him in battle. Chimchar never gives up in battle, which is a trait that it carried with it as it evolved into Monferno, and then into Infernape.

Infernape is quite the feisty Pokémon and, in its current stage, is always looking for someone to battle and some new way to boost its skills. Its personality almost completely matches Ash, which is why these two are a perfect match for one another.

He finds {{Ash}}, {{an|Iris}} and {{an|Cilan}} during their trajectory to Higaki City, where Ash was currently going to participate in the Pokémon League tournament. After becoming friends with them, Ash and Virgil work together to solve a problem involving a reservoir taken over by wild {{p|Cryogonal}}. Later, Virgil reveals that he intends to enter the Unova League, making him another one of Ash's rivals.

He reappeared in [[BW103]] to take part in the [[Higaki Conference]]. There, he met up with {{Ash}}, {{ashfr}} and all of Ash's other rivals in [[Unova]]. In the first round he used his {{p|Vaporeon}} to battle against [[Ultimo]] and his {{p|Crustle}}. The battle continued in [[BW104]] and he won, allowing him to move onto the next round.

Leavanny first appeared as a {{p|Sewaddle}} while {{Ash}} and {{Ashfr}} were in [[Pinwheel Forest]]. He randomly attacked [[Ash's Pikachu]], and Ash tried to catch him, but was not successful, since Sewaddle ran away. He later reappeared and knocked Ash to the ground when the trio met [[Burgh]], the Gym Leader of the [[Castelia Gym]], who revealed that he was accompanying Sewaddle through the forest, even though he was not his Pokémon. When Ash and his friends tried to say hello to Sewaddle by using the two sensory knobs on the top of his head, he {{m|Tackle}}d Ash, while he kindly said hello to {{an|Iris}}, Pikachu, {{TP|Iris|Axew}} and Burgh. Ash, {{an|Iris}} and Burgh then followed Sewaddle throughout the forest, watching him eating, as well as watching his sleeping habits.

When Sewaddle started eating some fruit, two {{p|Woobat}} started to attack him. Ash protected Sewaddle from an {{m|Air Slash}} attack. Pikachu and Sewaddle then scared off the Woobat. Sewaddle then offered Ash some fruit, showing that he was slowly beginning to like him. Later that night, Sewaddle even went into Ash's sleeping bag with him. The next day, a {{p|Patrat}} kidnapped Sewaddle in order to heal its sick friend, as a leaf from a Sewaddle has healing properties. However, Sewaddle got away, just to get stuck on a {{p|Deerling}}'s neck, and to get thrown over a cliff into a river, with Ash diving in to save him. Burgh then used his {{p|Leavanny}} to save both Sewaddle and Ash from going over a waterfall. Sewaddle was very thankful, but his "clothes" got messed up during the fall. However, Burgh's Leavanny made him new clothes. Ash asked Sewaddle if he wanted to join him, and Sewaddle happily allowed Ash to capture him. But once he was captured, his [[Poké Ball]] became sealed, as Ash had seven Pokémon on him at the time. This meant Ash had to send over one of his Pokémon to [[Professor Juniper]] in order to retain Sewaddle in his party, to which he chose his {{AP|Pidove|Unfezant}}.

In ''[[BW019|A Connoisseur's Revenge!]]'', Ash wanted to have Sewaddle examined by a [[Pokémon Connoisseur]] so he would know how compatible he was with him. He showed him to a C-class Connaisseuse by the name of [[Burgundy]]. She confirmed that his [[Ability]] is {{a|Swarm}}, which she thought was a bad thing, as she thought Ash would be better off with a Sewaddle with {{a|Chlorophyll}}, not doing anything to support her claim. When she said he should replace Sewaddle, he fired a String Shot at her in anger.

In ''[[BW023|Battling For The Love of Bug-Types!]]'', Sewaddle was boldly sent out to fight Burgh and his {{p|Dwebble}}, after {{AP|Tepig}} had already been defeated. Like in Tepig's battle, Sewaddle's attacks were all countered by Dwebble's {{m|Protect}} and he got hit with a powerful {{m|X-Scissor}} attack. Faced with an approaching {{m|Rock Wrecker}}, Sewaddle used String Shot to dodge by pulling himself towards the ceiling along the thread. After using String Shot to redirect another Rock Wrecker from his path, Sewaddle met another X-Scissor attack with {{m|Tackle}} and knocked Dwebble out of its rock. While Dwebble wasn't able to defend itself, Sewaddle hit it with a powerful {{m|Razor Leaf}}, Tackle and a second Razor Leaf, defeating Dwebble. Sewaddle stayed in the battle to fight Burgh's {{p|Whirlipede}} next. He continued to make use of his dodging technique with String Shot and the wrapped Whirlipede up in the thread. However, Whirlipede effortlessly cut through the thread and hit Sewaddle with a strong {{m|Steamroller}} attack twice in a row, tearing through Razor Leaf in the process. Sewaddle next attempted {{m|Bug Bite}} but was knocked back by {{m|Iron Defense}} and hit by yet another Steamroller attack. Sewaddle was next hit by Whirlipede's {{m|SolarBeam}}, which seemed as if it would defeat him until Sewaddle evolved into {{p|Swadloon}}. Swadloon wrapped Whirlipede up with String Shot as it did before, however, despite the move appearing much stronger than before, Whirlipede was still able to cut through the thread and attack. Swadloon attempted his dodging technique once more but Whirlipede cut through the thread attached to the ceiling, letting Swadloon fall. Swadloon was still able to stop Whirlipede's attack with his newly learned {{m|Energy Ball}} and finish it of with Tackle. Swadloon's third opponent was Leavanny and he was wrapped up in a very think String Shot. Ash cleverly told Swadloon to hit himself with Razor Leaf, damaging himself but freeing him from the thread. However Swadloon was quickly defeated by powerful {{m|Leaf Storm}} and {{m|Hyper Beam}} attacks.

In ''[[BW074|Battling the Leaf Thieves!]]'', Swadloon battled against [[Iris's Emolga]] in a training battle. After being hit hard by a {{m|Discharge}} attack that Emolga sent down the thread of Swadloon's String Shot, he perked up and evolved into Leavanny. His innate caring nature came to force right away and Leavanny made leaf hoods for the young {{TP|Iris|Axew}} and {{AP|Scraggy}}, who were very pleased with them. Leavanny then noticed three wild Sewaddle who all had withered hoods. Not giving it a second thought, Leavanny made new hoods for the three Sewing Pokémon. After making more hoods for Pikachu, {{AP|Oshawott}}, {{AP|Tepig}}, {{AP|Snivy}} and Emolga, the gang sat down for a nap. While sleeping a group of {{pkmn2|wild}} {{p|Durant}} came across the gang and took the leaf hoods for food as well as Axew, who was still wearing his outfit, because their poor eyesight led them to believe he was a pile of leaves. When the gang awoke, Leavanny helped search for the missing Pokémon. After Emolga led the gang to the entrance of the Durant's maze, Leavanny cleverly lined the cave with thread behind the group to mark the way out of the maze. Once they found the Durant's nest, Leavanny created leafy cocoons for Ash and Scraggy so they could retrieve the still sleeping Axew. Leavanny joined the others in fighting the Durant after Ash revealed himself, however the team's moves were all blocked by {{m|Protect}}. After Pikachu, Scraggy and Emolga managed to defeat the swarm, Leavanny led the gang back through the maze and to safety.

In ''[[BW083|Rocking the Virbank Gym! (Part 1)]]'', Ash chose Leavanny as his third Pokémon in his Gym battle with [[Roxie]], whose {{p|Koffing}} had already defeated [[Ash's Boldore]] and {{AP|Unfezant}}. Though Ash knew {{type|Grass}}s were at a disadvantage against {{type|Poison}}s, he was not discouraged. Leavanny first attacked Koffing with Energy Ball, which scored a direct hit, both damaging Koffing and lowering its {{stat|Special Defense}}. Koffing tried to counter with {{m|Gyro Ball}}, but it was quickly stopped by Leavanny's String Shot. Ash had Leavanny spin Koffing around with the thread, preventing it from attacking him, until he finally fired another Energy Ball, which was enough to finally defeat the Poison Gas Pokémon. Roxie next sent out her {{p|Scolipede}}. Leavanny's Razor Leaf didn't seem to do a thing against the giant {{t|Bug}}/Poison-type, and Roxie had Scolipede use {{m|Toxic}} on Leavanny, {{status|poison|badly poisoning}} him. In [[BW084|the next episode]], Leavanny fired an Energy Ball attack but Scolipede dodged it easily, before attacking Leavanny with {{m|Rock Tomb}} and {{m|Sludge Bomb}}, which, with the damage caused the worsening poison, was enough to defeat the Nurturing Pokémon.

In ''[[BW090|Jostling for the Junior Cup!]]'', Leavanny was used in the first round of the [[Pokémon World Tournament Junior Cup]] against [[Marris]]'s {{p|Karrablast}}. He was able to knock Karrablast out with a powerful {{m|Energy Ball}} attack and win the battle. Thus, Ash advanced to the second round.

In [[BW106]], Ash used Leavanny in his battle against [[Stephan]] during the [[Higaki Conference]], sending it out against [[Stephan's Sawk]]. Although Leavanny was able to avoid Sawk's {{m|Close Combat}} and hit it with his new {{m|X-Scissor}} attack, Sawk soon gained the upper hand and caused serious damage on Leavanny. However, this caused Leavanny's Swarm Ability to activate, giving him a big power boost. Despite of this, however, Leavanny was finally brought down by Sawk's {{m|Karate Chop}}.

==Personality and characteristics==

As a Sewaddle, Leavanny was childish, often doing things without warning when Ash first met him, such as attacking {{AP|Pikachu}} for no reason other than to battle. He was stubborn, and wouldn't admit to his feelings for Ash right away, but after he had been saved a few times, he became more comfortable with Ash, and snuggled up to him. Since then, he had been very caring towards his Trainer, even to go so far as to wrap [[Burgundy]]'s head in a {{m|String Shot}} web when she suggested Ash get rid of him.

As a Swadloon, Leavanny had also been competitive since his debut, and has a strong passion for battling. He always tried his hardest, even when he was at a strong disadvantage during his battle against [[Burgh]]'s {{p|Whirlipede}}, where he still refused to give up, and eventually evolved. Since he has evolved, Swadloon is a bit more mature, although he still got a bit childish when he believed {{AP|Oshawott}}, {{AP|Tepig}} and {{AP|Scraggy}} took his food in ''[[BW025|Emolga and the New Volt Switch!]]''. However, he still has a passion for battling. Swadloon also has some sewing skills, as seen in ''[[BW038|Movie Time! Zorua in "The Legend of the Pokémon Knight"!]]'', where he helped make costumes for [[Luke]]'s movie with [[Luke#Leavanny|his Leavanny]].

After evolving into Leavanny, he adopted a more caring nature and acts like a parent to the other Pokémon. He also became very independent, prancing off on his own to find leaves to use for clothes, taking a lot of pride in his work. He is also able to make good use of his newly acquired skills, cleverly lining the {{p|Durant}}'s maze with thread to mark the way out without being commanded to by his Trainer. As shown in ''[[BW083|Rocking the Virbank Gym! (Part 1)]]'', he has also been able to use these new skills in battle to great effect.

==History==

Leavanny first appeared as a {{p|Sewaddle}} while {{Ash}} and {{Ashfr}} were in [[Pinwheel Forest]]. He randomly attacked [[Ash's Pikachu]], and Ash tried to catch him, but was not successful, since Sewaddle ran away. He later reappeared and knocked Ash to the ground when the trio met [[Burgh]], the Gym Leader of the [[Castelia Gym]], who revealed that he was accompanying Sewaddle through the forest, even though he was not his Pokémon. When Ash and his friends tried to say hello to Sewaddle by using the two sensory knobs on the top of his head, he {{m|Tackle}}d Ash, while he kindly said hello to {{an|Iris}}, Pikachu, {{TP|Iris|Axew}} and Burgh. Ash, {{an|Iris}} and Burgh then followed Sewaddle throughout the forest, watching him eating, as well as watching his sleeping habits.

When Sewaddle started eating some fruit, two {{p|Woobat}} started to attack him. Ash protected Sewaddle from an {{m|Air Slash}} attack. Pikachu and Sewaddle then scared off the Woobat. Sewaddle then offered Ash some fruit, showing that he was slowly beginning to like him. Later that night, Sewaddle even went into Ash's sleeping bag with him. The next day, a {{p|Patrat}} kidnapped Sewaddle in order to heal its sick friend, as a leaf from a Sewaddle has healing properties. However, Sewaddle got away, just to get stuck on a {{p|Deerling}}'s neck, and to get thrown over a cliff into a river, with Ash diving in to save him. Burgh then used his {{p|Leavanny}} to save both Sewaddle and Ash from going over a waterfall. Sewaddle was very thankful, but his "clothes" got messed up during the fall. However, Burgh's Leavanny made him new clothes. Ash asked Sewaddle if he wanted to join him, and Sewaddle happily allowed Ash to capture him. But once he was captured, his [[Poké Ball]] became sealed, as Ash had seven Pokémon on him at the time. This meant Ash had to send over one of his Pokémon to [[Professor Juniper]] in order to retain Sewaddle in his party, to which he chose his {{AP|Pidove|Unfezant}}.

In ''[[BW019|A Connoisseur's Revenge!]]'', Ash wanted to have Sewaddle examined by a [[Pokémon Connoisseur]] so he would know how compatible he was with him. He showed him to a C-class Connaisseuse by the name of [[Burgundy]]. She confirmed that his [[Ability]] is {{a|Swarm}}, which she thought was a bad thing, as she thought Ash would be better off with a Sewaddle with {{a|Chlorophyll}}, not doing anything to support her claim. When she said he should replace Sewaddle, he fired a String Shot at her in anger.

In ''[[BW023|Battling For The Love of Bug-Types!]]'', Sewaddle was boldly sent out to fight Burgh and his {{p|Dwebble}}, after {{AP|Tepig}} had already been defeated. Like in Tepig's battle, Sewaddle's attacks were all countered by Dwebble's {{m|Protect}} and he got hit with a powerful {{m|X-Scissor}} attack. Faced with an approaching {{m|Rock Wrecker}}, Sewaddle used String Shot to dodge by pulling himself towards the ceiling along the thread. After using String Shot to redirect another Rock Wrecker from his path, Sewaddle met another X-Scissor attack with {{m|Tackle}} and knocked Dwebble out of its rock. While Dwebble wasn't able to defend itself, Sewaddle hit it with a powerful {{m|Razor Leaf}}, Tackle and a second Razor Leaf, defeating Dwebble. Sewaddle stayed in the battle to fight Burgh's {{p|Whirlipede}} next. He continued to make use of his dodging technique with String Shot and the wrapped Whirlipede up in the thread. However, Whirlipede effortlessly cut through the thread and hit Sewaddle with a strong {{m|Steamroller}} attack twice in a row, tearing through Razor Leaf in the process. Sewaddle next attempted {{m|Bug Bite}} but was knocked back by {{m|Iron Defense}} and hit by yet another Steamroller attack. Sewaddle was next hit by Whirlipede's {{m|SolarBeam}}, which seemed as if it would defeat him until Sewaddle evolved into {{p|Swadloon}}. Swadloon wrapped Whirlipede up with String Shot as it did before, however, despite the move appearing much stronger than before, Whirlipede was still able to cut through the thread and attack. Swadloon attempted his dodging technique once more but Whirlipede cut through the thread attached to the ceiling, letting Swadloon fall. Swadloon was still able to stop Whirlipede's attack with his newly learned {{m|Energy Ball}} and finish it of with Tackle. Swadloon's third opponent was Leavanny and he was wrapped up in a very think String Shot. Ash cleverly told Swadloon to hit himself with Razor Leaf, damaging himself but freeing him from the thread. However Swadloon was quickly defeated by powerful {{m|Leaf Storm}} and {{m|Hyper Beam}} attacks.

In ''[[BW074|Battling the Leaf Thieves!]]'', Swadloon battled against [[Iris's Emolga]] in a training battle. After being hit hard by a {{m|Discharge}} attack that Emolga sent down the thread of Swadloon's String Shot, he perked up and evolved into Leavanny. His innate caring nature came to force right away and Leavanny made leaf hoods for the young {{TP|Iris|Axew}} and {{AP|Scraggy}}, who were very pleased with them. Leavanny then noticed three wild Sewaddle who all had withered hoods. Not giving it a second thought, Leavanny made new hoods for the three Sewing Pokémon. After making more hoods for Pikachu, {{AP|Oshawott}}, {{AP|Tepig}}, {{AP|Snivy}} and Emolga, the gang sat down for a nap. While sleeping a group of {{pkmn2|wild}} {{p|Durant}} came across the gang and took the leaf hoods for food as well as Axew, who was still wearing his outfit, because their poor eyesight led them to believe he was a pile of leaves. When the gang awoke, Leavanny helped search for the missing Pokémon. After Emolga led the gang to the entrance of the Durant's maze, Leavanny cleverly lined the cave with thread behind the group to mark the way out of the maze. Once they found the Durant's nest, Leavanny created leafy cocoons for Ash and Scraggy so they could retrieve the still sleeping Axew. Leavanny joined the others in fighting the Durant after Ash revealed himself, however the team's moves were all blocked by {{m|Protect}}. After Pikachu, Scraggy and Emolga managed to defeat the swarm, Leavanny led the gang back through the maze and to safety.

In ''[[BW083|Rocking the Virbank Gym! (Part 1)]]'', Ash chose Leavanny as his third Pokémon in his Gym battle with [[Roxie]], whose {{p|Koffing}} had already defeated [[Ash's Boldore]] and {{AP|Unfezant}}. Though Ash knew {{type|Grass}}s were at a disadvantage against {{type|Poison}}s, he was not discouraged. Leavanny first attacked Koffing with Energy Ball, which scored a direct hit, both damaging Koffing and lowering its {{stat|Special Defense}}. Koffing tried to counter with {{m|Gyro Ball}}, but it was quickly stopped by Leavanny's String Shot. Ash had Leavanny spin Koffing around with the thread, preventing it from attacking him, until he finally fired another Energy Ball, which was enough to finally defeat the Poison Gas Pokémon. Roxie next sent out her {{p|Scolipede}}. Leavanny's Razor Leaf didn't seem to do a thing against the giant {{t|Bug}}/Poison-type, and Roxie had Scolipede use {{m|Toxic}} on Leavanny, {{status|poison|badly poisoning}} him. In [[BW084|the next episode]], Leavanny fired an Energy Ball attack but Scolipede dodged it easily, before attacking Leavanny with {{m|Rock Tomb}} and {{m|Sludge Bomb}}, which, with the damage caused the worsening poison, was enough to defeat the Nurturing Pokémon.

In ''[[BW090|Jostling for the Junior Cup!]]'', Leavanny was used in the first round of the [[Pokémon World Tournament Junior Cup]] against [[Marris]]'s {{p|Karrablast}}. He was able to knock Karrablast out with a powerful {{m|Energy Ball}} attack and win the battle. Thus, Ash advanced to the second round.

In [[BW106]], Ash used Leavanny in his battle against [[Stephan]] during the [[Higaki Conference]], sending it out against [[Stephan's Sawk]]. Although Leavanny was able to avoid Sawk's {{m|Close Combat}} and hit it with his new {{m|X-Scissor}} attack, Sawk soon gained the upper hand and cause serious damage on Leavanny. However, this caused Leavanny's Swarm Ability to activate, giving him a big power boost. Despite of this, however, Leavanny was finally brought down by Sawk's {{m|Karate Chop}}.

==Personality and characteristics==

As a Sewaddle, Leavanny was childish, often doing things without warning when Ash first met him, such as attacking {{AP|Pikachu}} for no reason other than to battle. He was stubborn, and wouldn't admit to his feelings for Ash right away, but after he had been saved a few times, he became more comfortable with Ash, and snuggled up to him. Since then, he had been very caring towards his Trainer, even to go so far as to wrap [[Burgundy]]'s head in a {{m|String Shot}} web when she suggested Ash get rid of him.

As a Swadloon, Leavanny had also been competitive since his debut, and has a strong passion for battling. He always tried his hardest, even when he was at a strong disadvantage during his battle against [[Burgh]]'s {{p|Whirlipede}}, where he still refused to give up, and eventually evolved. Since he has evolved, Swadloon is a bit more mature, although he still got a bit childish when he believed {{AP|Oshawott}}, {{AP|Tepig}} and {{AP|Scraggy}} took his food in ''[[BW025|Emolga and the New Volt Switch!]]''. However, he still has a passion for battling. Swadloon also has some sewing skills, as seen in ''[[BW038|Movie Time! Zorua in "The Legend of the Pokémon Knight"!]]'', where he helped make costumes for [[Luke]]'s movie with [[Luke#Leavanny|his Leavanny]].

After evolving into Leavanny, he adopted a more caring nature and acts like a parent to the other Pokémon. He also became very independent, prancing off on his own to find leaves to use for clothes, taking a lot of pride in his work. He is also able to make good use of his newly acquired skills, cleverly lining the {{p|Durant}}'s maze with thread to mark the way out without being commanded to by his Trainer. As shown in ''[[BW083|Rocking the Virbank Gym! (Part 1)]]'', he has also been able to use these new skills in battle to great effect.
