Mareep (Japanese: メリープ Merriep) is an Electric Pokémon.

It evolves into Flaaffy starting at level 15, who evolves into Ampharos starting at level 30.

Biology
Physiology
Mareep is based on a sheep. It has cream wool, a blue head and blue feet. Its horns and tail have a yellow and black striped pattern. Mareep has an orange sphere at the end of its tail which acts a small lightbulb. It has curly tuft of hair on its head.

Gender differences
None.

Special abilities
Mareep's wool stores electricity, rubbing together and building a static charge, and increases in volume when it builds up with electricity. Touching the wool when the wool is charged will result in a nasty static shock. The bulb at the end of Mareep's tail glows brighter the more electricity it has.

Behavior
Mareep tend to avoid battle in the wild and have mild dispositions. Mareep's fleece grows continually, and in the summer, the fleece is fully shed, but it grows back in a week. Mareep also stores air in its soft fur, allowing it to stay cool in summer and warm in winter.

Habitat
Mareep are most often found in grassy fields. Mareep are also kept on farms where their wool is used in high-quality clothing.
Trivia
* Though Mareep's primary color is stated to be white, it is mostly yellow and blue, and doesn't contain any large amount of white color.
** In addition, Mareep's colors changed twice in Generation IV. In Diamond/Pearl, it's a bright yellow-ish color. In Platinum, Mareep's hue is strangely a mix of orange and yellow. In HeartGold/SoulSilver, the colors become a bit whiter, much brighter than .
** Its shiny sprites maintain the same coloration throughout Generation IV.
** This was corrected in Generation V, where his wool is white.

Origin
Mareep appears to be simply based on a sheep. It is likely that its electric aspect and ability comes from how wool builds up static charges and may also be based on the golden fleece in Greek and Roman mythology. It, and its evolutions, may also have been based on the title of the science fiction novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?
Name origin
Mareep's name appears to be a combination of the word Mary — as in the girl who owned a little lamb in the nursery rhyme — and sheep; Mareep is also an anagram of the word ampere, a unit of electric current.

The Bulbagarden forums are the "common room" of Bulbagarden. A vBulletin message board (currently running version 3.8.4), the forums (commonly known as BMGf) have existed for as long as the site and are currently the only part of the main Bulbagarden site. The forums have subforums for many topics, ranging from general discussion in the Misc. Forum, current events and politics in Real World to Anime and Manga and Shipping discussion, to a home for Fanfiction writers and Fanart artists, and a place for the Pokémon Games, Anime, and Manga.

Bulbagarden opens its Trade Center
In 2009, Bulbagarden forums' Wireless Garden subforum was expanded to a full-size section with separate forums for trading and battling activities.

Rules
The forums are run under a relatively liberal set of rules which permits virtually all intelligent posting, with artistic liberties granted with regards to vulgarity and perceived "crudeness". However, the general rules of all forums still apply. These rules include not abusing the CAPS lock, not flaming other users, not spamming, and a policy against plagiarism, pirating, and warez. Trolls are not tolerated.

Culture
The forums have a number of traditions, including the masquerade parties held at Halloween and Christmas.

Projects
The forums are the venue for three projects, two ongoing games: Fizzy Bubbles and Knight Pokémon University, and a new Bulbagarden RPG reminiscent of the old "Evolutions - Celadon City Blues" RPG, Evolution to Destiny.
Hello, I'm Rayne - not to be confused with vampire vixens, Tales of Symphonia's lovely Raine nor any woman that falls under the name in general. So that said, I'm a male. (In my early days here everyone thought I was a girl thus the need to feel I must explain my name. I didn't know Rayne had a such a strong connotation to females when I picked it honestly.)
That disclaimer aside, I don't have much to start off with. My belt's very light in the editing department, but I usually like to add in the small details that get skipped over. If I have time, I'll contribute to the 'pedia where necessary.
