::Not all of the Gym Leaders are available immediatly though. For example the Unova Gym Leaders are unlocked once you have defeated the Elite 4 if I remember correctly. Once you have defeated the Unova leaders then another set of leaders from another region is unlocked. Beating the Champion unlocks the Unova Leaders Tournament. Beating the Unova Leaders Tournament unlocks all the other four regions Leaders Tournaments. Beating all 5 gets you the World Leaders Tournament. All of these tournaments are accessed from the right hand registry person.{{unsigned|Schiffy}}

OK, something that really irritates me is that there are no Dark-type gym leaders. This means that there is no gym leader in the type-expert for dark. There are some trainers for this but they are not listed on the page. Serebii has listed Vito (possibly) from the Winstrate family, but could someone confirm this? == Lead Pokemon ==
Every Gym Leader and Champion (except Red and Blue) always lead off with a particular Pokemon in singles, doubles, rotation, and triples. I've looked up several PWT videos and noticed this pattern for them all; the lead Pokemon is the same and the rest of the Pokemon are randomly picked from the party of six (unless it's Triples where all are used anyway). It's usually the first Pokemon listed in the party templates on this site (Norman's Slaking, Jasmine's Steelix, Steven's Metagross, etc.). Would this deserve a mention on this page at all, the pages of the trainers in question, or perhaps a new page altogether about the general concept of a 'signature Pokemon'? :It's not that simple. The BP awards in the PWT are a lot less straightforward - you don't receive BP in any consistent pattern like in previous facilities. One thing that should be noted: Despite being a Ghost-type move, it can't damage Shedinja. Possibly because Night Shade can't deal super-effective damage, and Wonder Guard will prevent direct damage from any attack that isn't super-effective against Shedinja. :: I can read the katakana, and I'm all for writing Japanese words so they strictly conform to Hepburn romanisation, which is why I added "Kantō" after カントー. However, I'm just as much for writing English words so they strictly conform to how the official people decided they should be written in English. As you said yourself, English drops macrons, and so IMHO if we're using the English names, we should copy how they're officially written in the US character-for-character and leave the macrons out. If we're actually talking about the '''Japanese version''' of the English Kanto (no macron), which is カントー, then for the benefit of non-Japanese-speakers I would actually romanize the name (which involves macrons) rather than typing only the true Japanese one. ._.

In regards to the League Champion, I think it would be best if he was recorded as Blue (or Green for the Japanese versions).

Gary is a seperate entity from the games, and you problably shouldn't record him has the League Champ in RBYG anymore than you should say that Ash is the final boss in GSC.

Blue, the one in the games anyway, is in my opinion - a different character from Gary and Green from PSpecial. The latter are based on the former, but not the same.

I'm a little bit confused. The article states more than 3 times that Kanto is explorable in all 4 generations, but this was only added after HGSS was confirmed. But then when someone tried to add in HGSS in the games its in section, it was removed. What other gen IV game is Kanto playable in thats been confirmed in the last two weeks? :Kanto's playable in HGSS. It was playable in GS, it will be in HGSS. Lt. Surge had the same leveled Pokémon, hell, ''all of them'' had the same leveled Pokémon in FRLG as in RG. Whether that means that HGSS won't have level tweaks, I don't know. What I do know is that the geography of Kanto wasn't changed, and you still went to every place that you did in RBY, even Rock Tunnel, though they were obviously by that time already halfway through planning and programming of DP and so knew that Flash was gonna be kicked out of HM status in Gen IV.

==Synopsis==

On a clear star-filled night, {{Ash}} and {{ashfr|his friends}} watch the sky as [[Marian]] shows up, mentioning that there is a rare meteor shower. Everyone is awed by the show, when suddenly a meteor falls straight at the group. {{TP|Dawn|Piplup}} confidently jumps ahead and uses {{m|Whirlpool}} to stop the meteor and create a dazzling sparkle. When the light clears, they suddenly appear in a stadium filled with spectators, as that appeal gave {{an|Dawn}} the win for the Grand Festival. Everyone cheers for Dawn as she thanks Piplup. Suddenly, {{AP|Gible}} appears and fires {{m|Draco Meteor}}, which comes down and hits Piplup. The attack appears to send Piplup flying, but the scene changes to show Piplup waking up in the middle of the night, the whole thing being a dream. Piplup goes back to sleep.

The next day, Ash decides to {{pkmn|training|train}}, knowing that his final [[badge]] and the league is closing in. He decides to put time into improving Gible's faulty Draco Meteor. When he brings Gible out, it immediately sprints over to bite on a nearby boulder. Ash tries to pull Gible off, which results in his {{OBP|Pokémon|species}} biting on his head instead.

Gible starts practicing Draco Meteor, but every attempt continues to fail and hit Piplup, with Ash repeatedly apologizing to Dawn's [[starter Pokémon]]. After disrupting Piplup from smelling flowers, getting water from a stream and simply heaving the Penguin Pokémon everywhere, Piplup runs over to Gible and scolds it. When Gible responds by latching onto Piplup's head, the {{t|Water}} Pokémon unleashes his anger on Gible with Whirlpool and {{m|BubbleBeam}} attacks. Gible's lack of response only infuriates Piplup more as Ash and Dawn try to calm the chaos.

Piplup runs towards Dawn, imagining her and Ash scolding Gible and demanding it to apologize, Dawn caring only for Piplup. Instead, Piplup winds up hugging {{AP|Pikachu}}. Pikachu comforts Piplup briefly before running over to Ash. Piplup notices that nobody is angry towards Gible, only supporting it and encouraging it to work harder to improve. This devastates Piplup, especially when Dawn says that Gible didn't do intentional harm. Crushed, Piplup walks away, nobody noticing him. Nearby, [[Team Rocket]] watches and decides to take advantage of it.

Piplup walks into the forest and takes a break. Hearing a nearby bush rustle, Piplup thinks its Dawn, fantasizing that she has taken Piplup's side. When he jumps into the bush, he runs into an angry {{p|Rhyperior}}, immediately facing a {{m|Flash Cannon}} attack, forcing him to run away. Piplup runs into the Team Rocket Trio ([[Jessie]], [[James]] and {{MTR}}), who are disguised as members as the Pokémon Rescue Group, a team that helps solve feuds between {{pkmn|Trainer}}s and Pokémon, as well as helping Pokémon that have been abandoned by their trainers.

Meanwhile, Ash and his friends search for Piplup, with the aid of [[Ash's Staraptor]]. Ash interrupts Gible gnawing on a tree and asks it to help search. Gible runs forward and latches onto a hidden Rhyperior's tail, aggravating it and forcing Ash and his friends to flee from its Flash Cannon.

Piplup, still with Team Rocket, tells about his problems with Ash's Gible and how he has reached his limit with the most recent event, even as going as far to say it's planning to head back to [[Professor Rowan]]'s lab in [[Sandgem Town]]. Jessie comforts Piplup as she and James decide to find Ash and Dawn.

With no luck finding Piplup, Ash recalls Staraptor. Jessie and James, using their disguise, confront Ash and Dawn. After they tell Dawn how Piplup felt about the recent events, and getting the riot act read to them by the disguised duo, she and Ash realize that they owe Piplup an apology. While demanding that they take a counseling class, Jessie and James demand Ash and Dawn's other Pokémon. Before anything happens, the same Rhyperior shows up and fires a barrage of Flash Cannons, forcing them to flee, but it also separates Ash and his friends from Jessie and James. Pikachu also gets separated.

Jessie and James return to Meowth and Piplup, and begin putting another plan into motion by asking Piplup to find and bring Pikachu over, which he agrees to. Pikachu walks alone when Piplup finds him and brings him over. They enter a covered box which is revealed to be an electric-proof cage. Piplup is stunned at being fooled.

Ash and his friends are still trying to locate Pikachu and Piplup. Gible then fires a random Draco Meteor, which fails and falls where Team Rocket is located. {{an|Brock}} realizes that the move can be used in a good way as they head over, finding Team Rocket. Before they can finish their {{motto}}, the same Rhyperior shows up and unleashes another Flash Cannon, which frees Pikachu and Piplup. Dawn runs to Piplup, showing him that she did care as they both embrace, Ash also apologizing to Piplup. Team Rocket decides to {{pkmn|battle}}, sending out {{TP|James|Carnivine}} and {{TP|Jessie|Seviper}}. Ash sends out {{AP|Grotle}} while Dawn lets Piplup jump into battle. Seviper launches a {{m|Haze}}, but Grotle's {{m|Energy Ball}} cuts through it and makes contact, {{DL|Fainting|In the anime|taking down}} Seviper. Carnivine fires {{m|Bullet Seed}}, which Piplup matches with BubbleBeam, but a quick follow-up {{m|Vine Whip}} knocks Piplup down. Piplup gets up, bestowed with anger and strength, and launches his brand-new move, {{m|Hydro Pump}}, which sends Team Rocket flying sky-high.

The Rhyperior is still angry, as Ash and his friends try to calm the Pokémon, when a Trainer comes out and calls to Rhyperior. He reveals that he is Rhyperior's Trainer and apologizes to his Pokémon for being mean. They work things out and move along, which encourages [[Happiness|friendship]] with Dawn and Piplup.

Add you teams from the Pokemon, information about your self anything really. If you need help on the actual aspect of entering usertags or something on a place you can ask a [[Bulbapedia:Staff|staff]] as I think they could explain it a little better. Sorry for the confusion! It states info about Hydro Cannon from the games but has anyone stopped to realize that its always different in the anime? When Hyper Beam was first used in the anime they never had the recharge. And even now they still have Pokemon use Hyper beam then directly use another. In the anime they don't follow the rules of the games. If they did the Pokemon would stand still and just do the attacks and occasionally dodge. Also they wouldn't evolve during battle, would never be able to do combo attacks, contests would be way different etc etc. The games are based on the MANGA not the ANIME so of course its going to be different. Remember that while Kyogre expanded the seas, Groudon expanded the continents, and Rayquaza brought neutral ground (and not ground as in Groudon, but you get what I mean) with the sky, they are very much beings of these domains, and have never been shown to watch over the effects of the domains they represent. Rayquaza may keep the balance between Kyogre and Groudon, but it seems to simply be a leader of the Sky World, rather than its Guardian. The Hebrew mythological/legendary/Biblical creatures known as Behemoth, Leviathan, and Ziz are seen as the Great Beasts of the Earth, Sea, and Sky (respectively), but not as the Guardians of these domains. They simply are the Greatest of the inhabitants of these domains. I'm not saying that Pokémon has to adhere to the stories that its Legendaries are based on, but they do provide a hint. Now, granted, Kyogre and Groudon's information in the version they do not appear in is important in that is states that Kyogre brought the relief of rain to those caught in drought, and Groudon brought and end to the monsoon-like rains that tormented various regions. But these are born from aspects of their nature - the ability to expand the seas or earth with Drizzle and Drought respectively. This would seem to state that Kyogre is actually the guardian of the Earth - as it brought balance back to regions suffering drought, the negative aspects of Groudon - and that Groudon is the guardian of the Seas, for precisely the equal and opposite reasons. Of course, they are not the guardians of each others' domains, though they do keep each other in check somewhat, when they're not sleeping, that is. And when they are both awake - well it seemed that they actually didn't want to fight each other in the games at least, and that it was the Orbs that drove them out of control. The citizens of Sootopolis in Emerald state that the two look like they actually don't want to be fighting each other, as if they are being forced to by the Red and Blue Orbs (which may or may not be man-made). And Rayquaza has been seen to keep them in check when this does happen (though somehow Lance and Ash and co. were able to stop them without Rayquaza in the anime). But even Rayquaza has been seen as very defensive of its area - in Movie 7 it attacked Deoxys on sight simply because Deoxys entered it's domain. That's more like an attack dog than a guardian trying to keep the balance of the skies.

Lugia has shown multiple times that if it existed in the sky, it would cause catastrophic events that could effect the entire world, but by maintaining its powers beneath the sea it is able to keep the balance of the world's water, and therefore the source of life (as seen in a traditional Buddhist sense, as well as in, say, Movies 1, 2, 4, 5, and 9). Ho-oh has been seen as the maker of Rainbows and the being that ends the storms that could cause pain and suffering to the world, so it is the guardian of the Sky World. Ironically, the Legendary Birds and their actions affect the sea and are governed by Lugia, while the Legendary beasts are governed by Ho-oh.

The Regi trio seem to have been made by Man, the class of beings often associated with the Earth, as bone and muscle and flesh are very Earthy substances. But Regigigas has been known as the being that pulled the Continents together by towing them with ropes, and it is also seen in Movie 11 as providing its phenomenal strength and its mastery over the great beasts that walk the Earth (here being Mammoswine) to prevent catastrophes such as that of the Glacidia glacier moving and causing much devastation across the Earth. Regigigas is perhaps the most Deus ex Machina a Pokémon movie character could get (though Kyogre in Movie 9 comes close), as he basically solves the final crisis of the movie, when Ash and co. couldn't. Regigigas' role of herding Megafauna is very Earth-based as well - see the Ground egg group, and it's role with Mammals (or HSOWA). Mammals almost define Earth and its denizens, though they certainly are not the only ones; but their association with humans and agriculture and also with the ancient Megafauna that dominated this world in the early Cenozoic are definitely indications that Regigigas is like a human of the ancient world, and how humans see themselves as the Stewards of Earth (or at least should...).

So my point here is that while Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza represent the elemental energies that empower the three domains of Earth, Sea, and Sky, respectively, it is Regigigas, Lugia, and Ho-oh (again respectively) that are the stewards of these domains. Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza represent a trio (though a statistically imbalanced trio as Rayquaza is stronger than the other two), but one without a Trio Master because they keep each other in-balance ability-wise (and if Kyogre has some possible connection with "the Beast of the Sea", than it may be that the Trio Masters each keep the Weather Trio member in their domain balanced as well, though that's getting more into speculation). Regigigas, Lugia, and Ho-oh are Trio Masters because of their Pokédex and series lore about their roles, which connect them with both the Trios they control and their domains of Land, Sea, and Sky. The association with Lugia and the Moon and Ho-oh and the Sun - that's another story that has absolutely no basis save the opening screens of Silver and Gold versions.

Arceus has yet to have been shown as the Master of Trio Masters, as has he yet to have been shown as the Master of the Dragon Trio (though this will probably be revealed next summer with Movie 12). So until then, Arceus remains as the Trio Master of the Lake Trio, only. But having created the entire world and its planes, I would assume he could be considered the master of the Weather Trio, the Dragon Trio, as well as relegating the Beast Trio, Bird Trio, and Regi Trio to Ho-oh, Lugia, and Regigigas. Is it possible Cresselia is the master of the Lake Trio? As stated above, in the Real History section, Cresselia did (possibly) create the trio, and as quoted from Cresselia's page, "Cresselia's three main colors (pink, yellow and blue) are the same as the main colors of the Lake guardians." ==Synopsis==
Having left [[Snowpoint City]] behind, {{Ash}} and {{ashfr|his friends}} are now aboard a train leading to [[Lake Acuity]], where Ash is due to have his full battle against [[Paul]]. Ash is naturally determined to win when he and the others meet an absent-minded man called [[Looker]] who is also on the train, and is almost knocked over when Ash shouted his determination and drops the lunchboxes he is carrying which {{an|Brock}}, Ash and {{an|Dawn}} are all able to catch. Ash apologizes and asks Looker if he's ok, to which the muddle-minded gentleman replies in the positive. Brock asks him if the boxed lunch was the train station's best food, and Looker gives Ash, Dawn and Brock one as a gift as he had accidentally ordered too many from the seller. The gang introduced themselves to Looker, and Looker introduced himself. Team Rocket, in disguise, also receive the box lunch from Looker. But Looker still had lots of food, so he decided to give it to the driver, his assistant and the driver's Pokémon. Brock told Ash that the Pokémon should be an {{type2|electric}} Pokémon.

As the train traveled on to Lake Acuity, the driver tells his Pokémon, an {{p|Ampharos}}, to use {{m|Thunderbolt}}. The driver's assistant tells the gang that the train is powered by Ampharos's electric attacks, leaving the group impressed by the cooperation between Ampharos and the driver. Looker gives the box lunch to the train crew when suddenly the driver stops the train as the signal ahead is set at red for danger.

The driver decides to check what's happening, however when he makes a call he is informed there is nothing wrong with the line ahead despite the signal that says otherwise. As there may be a problem with the line that hasn't been relayed to the operators the assistant and Looker decide to go outside and check while the driver goes to inform the passengers of the situation. Meanwhile the gang decide this is the perfect time to eat their lunches, and as the train is delayed they decide to eat it outside and let their Pokémon out of their [[Poké Ball]]s for a while. Team Rocket decide to take advantage of the opportunity and make an attempt to steal all the Pokémon. As they were about to leave their seat, the driver told them not to worry while they can watch the scenery. In a bad mood, Jessie almost tells the driver about their intentions however luckily Meowth covers her big mouth in time.

Outside, Looker discovers that the track that has supposedly hasn't been used for a long time doesn't have one speck of dust on it, implying it's getting used on a regular basis despite being closed down. The assistant replies that it could be a prank, however the junction points on to the 'disused' line have also been changed. Looker realizes that the points were changed intentionally, and the assistant tells Looker to go back to the train while he would go and investigate the junction. However, rather that head back to the train Looker heads down the mysterious line.

Ash decides it's the perfect time for him and his Pokémon to get some quick training done before the battle against Paul. Then suddenly a strong wind appears... however it's not a wind but Team Rocket with a new suction machine attached to their balloon that sucks up everyone's Pokémon (besides {{AP|Grotle}} and {{TP|Dawn|Mamoswine}}). The gang demand their Pokémon back, but naturally Jessie refuses. Team Rocket prepare to make their getaway when the driver notices what is happening and has Ampharos use {{m|Signal Beam}} on the balloon. This allows most of the Pokémon to escape but {{AP|Pikachu}}, {{TP|Dawn|Piplup}} and {{TP|Brock|Happiny}} get caught in a net. Ampharos jumps up to the net while the driver commands Ampharos to destroy the remote control. However it doesn't work and all Ampharos manages to do is burst a hole in the balloon sending it flying away, together with Team Rocket and the four Pokémon.

At the end of the disused line, Looker finds a warehouse and heads inside. Meanwhile Ampharos is able to use {{m|ThunderPunch}} on the net, freeing the three Pokémon while Team Rocket and the balloon fall to the ground knocking them out. Ash has {{AP|Staraptor}} look for the missing Pokémon while Pikachu and the rest came to a junction. Piplup naturally takes the leads and walks the front road with Happiny, but they quickly come running back chased by an angry flock of {{p|Fearow}}. Pikachu uses Thunderbolt and Ampharos uses Signal Beam however the Fearow are able to dodge it, sending Pikachu and Ampharos on the run as well. Soon all four come to a cliff and have no choice but to jump down, luckily this is enough to lose the Fearow. Meanwhile the assistant receives a call from the driver, learning that the Pokémon had been stolen by Team Rocket.

Continuing the search for their trainers, the Pokémon find a big boulder blocking the way. Pikachu and Ampharos are unable move it, making Piplup laugh at them... however Piplup is quick to stop laughing when his {{m|BubbleBeam}} and {{m|Whirlpool}} still can't make it budge. Naturally it comes down to Happiny and her strength to move it. After grabbing the boulder, the Playhouse Pokémon tosses it up to the sky and then throws it in the river.

Inside the mysterious warehouse, Looker finds that the disused track leads directly to Lake Acuity. Taking out his detective's goggles, he finds footprints on the floor and then a piece of paper.

Pikachu and the others continue their journey, however Team Rocket are down but not out as the Pokémon fell into another of their traps and end up all caught in a bag. Luckily, Ash and the others are nearby and Ash had Staraptor free the Pokémon with {{m|Aerial Ace}}. Team Rocket then decide to battle the trainers to try and reclaim the Pokémon, sending out {{TP|James|Carnivine}} (which shows James how much it loves him by causing him pain as usual) and {{TP|Jessie|Seviper}}. Things look like they're going badly, however {{TP|Brock|Sudowoodo}} manages to save the day when it uses a new attack, {{m|Hammer Arm}}. Then Pikachu finishes with {{m|Volt Tackle}}, ending Team Rocket's train ride and sending them blasting off.

At sunset, the assistant, Looker and the gang return to the train ready to get moving again. Looker explains his long absence, telling everyone he took the time to look at the scenery. With the signal and junction set correct and Ampharos ready to get things moving again the train can finally finish its trip to Lake Acuity. Looker wishes Ash good luck for his battle against Paul, and Ash thanks him excitedly preparing for the battle against his rival.

Later, at the back of the train's carriage, Looker calls his superiors. He explains that the organization that stopped the train are moving something to Lake Acuity and he will continue his investigation. He then takes out and looks at the piece of paper that he found in the warehouse which carries the logo of the group that stopped the train and is planning something at Lake Acuity... Team Rocket prepare to make their getaway when the driver notices what is happening and has Ampharos use {{m|Signal Beam}} on the balloon. This allows most of the Pokémon to escape but {{AP|Pikachu}}, {{TP|Dawn|Piplup}} and {{TP|Brock|Happiny}} get caught in a net. Ampharos jumps up to the net while the driver commands Ampharos to destroy the remote control. However it doesn't work and all Ampharos manages to do is burst a hole in the balloon sending it flying away, together with Team Rocket and the four Pokémon.

At the end of the disused line, Looker finds a warehouse and heads inside. Meanwhile Ampharos is able to use {{m|ThunderPunch}} on the net, freeing the three Pokémon while Team Rocket and the balloon fall to the ground knocking them out. Ash has {{AP|Staraptor}} look for the missing Pokémon while Pikachu and the rest came to a junction. Piplup naturally takes the leads and walks the front road with Happiny, but they quickly come running back chased by an angry flock of {{p|Fearow}}. Pikachu uses Thunderbolt and Ampharos uses Signal Beam however the Fearow are able to dodge it, sending Pikachu and Ampharos on the run as well. Soon all four come to a cliff and have no choice but to jump down, luckily this is enough to lose the Fearow. Meanwhile the assistant receives a call from the driver, learning that the Pokémon had been stolen by Team Rocket.

Continuing the search for their trainers, the Pokémon find a big boulder blocking the way. Pikachu and Ampharos are unable move it, making Piplup laugh at them... however Piplup is quick to stop laughing when his {{m|BubbleBeam}} and {{m|Whirlpool}} still can't make it budge. Naturally it comes down to Happiny and her strength to move it. After grabbing the boulder, the Playhouse Pokémon tosses it up to the sky and then throws it in the river.

Inside the mysterious warehouse, Looker finds that the disused track leads directly to Lake Acuity. Taking out his detective's goggles, he finds footprints on the floor and then a piece of paper.

Pikachu and the others continue their journey, however Team Rocket are down but not out as the Pokémon fell into another of their traps and end up all caught in a bag. Luckily, Ash and the others are nearby and Ash had Staraptor free the Pokémon with {{m|Aerial Ace}}. Team Rocket then decide to battle the trainers to try and reclaim the Pokémon, sending out {{TP|James|Carnivine}} (which shows James how much it loves him by causing him pain as usual) and {{TP|Jessie|Seviper}}. Things look like they're going badly, however {{TP|Brock|Sudowoodo}} manages to save the day when it uses a new attack, {{m|Hammer Arm}}. Then Pikachu finishes with {{m|Volt Tackle}}, ending Team Rocket's train ride and sending them blasting off.

At sunset, the assistant, Looker and the gang return to the train ready to get moving again. Looker explains his long absence, telling everyone he took the time to look at the scenery. With the signal and junction set correct and Ampharos ready to get things moving again the train can finally finish its trip to Lake Acuity. Looker wishes Ash good luck for his battle against Paul, and Ash thanks him excitedly preparing for the battle against his rival.

Later, at the back of the train's carriage, Looker calls his superiors. He explains that the organization that stopped the train are moving something to Lake Acuity and he will continue his investigation. He then takes out and looks at the piece of paper that he found in the warehouse which carries the logo of the group that stopped the train and is planning something at Lake Acuity... [[Team Galactic]]!

==Synopsis==
{{Ash}}, {{an|Dawn}}, {{an|Brock}} and [[Zoey]] leave the {{ci|Snowpoint}} [[Pokémon Center]], Ash excited to finally get the chance to battle [[Candice]] for the {{badge|Icicle}}. Everyone is in full support. At the [[Snowpoint Gym]], {{ashfr|his friends}} watch in the bleachers, observing the ice field full of ice boulders, like tiny mountains spread across it as the match gets underway. [[Mr. Honcho]] acts as the referee, announcing that the {{pkmn|battle|match}} will be four on four with the only challenger allowed to substitute. Brock predicts that it could be a long battle. Excited, Candice pulls off her sweater and ties it on her waist as Zoey notes how pumped up her older classmate is. Since both Candice and Mr. Honcho are at the gym, [[Jeremiah]] has been left in charge of the beginner's class at the Trainer's school. [[Team Rocket]] watches through the windows, planning to make another attempt to steal the [[Pokémon]] stored there. They find the [[Poké Ball]] Room now securely locked with padlocks and chains.

Back at the [[gym]], Candice starts out with {{p|Sneasel}}. Ash summons {{AP|Grotle}}, shocking Dawn and Zoey as Grotle has a [[Elemental type|type]] [[Damage modification|disadvantage]]. Candice has no clue of what Ash plans to do with Grotle, but highly approves of the unpredictability as Grotle fires an {{m|Energy Ball}}. Sneasel dodges and literally skates across the ice field, getting in close and hitting Grotle with {{m|Icy Wind}}. Sneasel circle-strafes Grotle with Icy Wind as Grotle falters only slightly. Brock realizes Ash and Grotle's strategy as Sneasel lunges forward with {{m|Fury Swipes}}. Grotle stops Sneasel with {{m|Razor Leaf}}, forcing it back before it leaps out of the way, landing on an ice boulder. Grotle uses {{m|Rock Climb}} allowing it to easily run across the ice. Sneasel fires Icy Wind but Grotle pushes forward, runs straight up the boulder and rams Sneasel, sending it flying and creating a crater in the ice where it fell, [[fainting|knocking it out]]. Brock points out that Ash took what [[Paul's Torterra]] [[DP100|taught Grotle]] and made it his own. Ash recalls Grotle for a well-earned rest as Candice excitedly deploys {{p|Medicham}} which Dawn checks with her [[Pokédex]]. Ash decides to exploit the {{t|Flying|type advantage}} with {{AP|Staraptor}}. Meanwhile, back at the school, Team Rocket bypasses the locked door by tunneling into the room, swiping all the Poké Balls off the shelves.

Staraptor launches into a {{m|Quick Attack}}, but Medicham's {{m|Confusion}} stops the attack and sends Staraptor crashing into the ground. Only now does Ash remember that Medicham is not just a {{type2|Fighting}}, but a {{2t|Fighting|Psychic}} type. Staraptor gets back up and launches {{m|Aerial Ace}}, but Medicham stops it by catching it by the beak, just shy of hitting. Quickly, Staraptor switches to {{m|Close Combat}} and hits. Medicham hits back with {{m|Fire Punch}}, and both are thrown down. Ash then has Staraptor use {{m|Brave Bird}} before Medicham can recover, crushing it into another crater, knocking it out (although Staraptor suffers from the [[recoil]]). Ash recalls Staraptor, everyone excited at his lead. Candice sends out {{p|Snover}} as Ash ponders his next Pokémon. Meanwhile, Jeremiah leads the students to the Poké Ball room, and when he opens the door all shocked at discovering the theft. Jeremiah rushes outside and finds Team Rocket emerging from the tunnel they dug. As they recite their [[Team Rocket mottos|motto]], the students angrily cut them off. Team Rocket flees and barricade themselves in the storage shed that Zoey and Candice raised Zoey's {{TP|Zoey|Glameow}} in.

Ash decides to use {{AP|Gliscor}}. Snover fires Razor Leaf as Gliscor dodges, retaliating with a {{m|Fire Fang}} to the arm, causing super-effective damage. Gliscor then roundhouses Snover with its tail and Snover hits back with {{m|Ice Beam}}, blasting it up and away, also causing super-effective damage. As Gliscor falls toward the field, Snover races forward and fires another, but Gliscor recovers and quickly dodges, lunging with another Fire Fang. However, Snover's {{m|Bullet Seed}} stops Gliscor before an Icy Wind sends Gliscor slamming into the wall, leaving it to faint while sitting in its crater.

Ash recalls Gliscor and summons {{AP|Chimchar}}. Chimchar jumps across the ice boulders, dodging an Ice Beam and firing a {{m|Flamethrower}}, but an Icy Wind stops the attack and creates a steam cover, something Candice planned on when facing {{type2|Fire}}s. Chimchar glances in all directions, trying to spot Snover's eventual sneak attack, but Ash tells Chimchar to listen for it instead, let Snover attack first and retaliate with Flamethrower. Chimchar closes its eyes and listens, until Snover' approach disturbs Chimchar's tail flame, and Chimchar looks up right where Snover comes out of the steam. Snover takes a swing at Chimchar, but Chimchar dodges and blasts Snover's back with Flamethrower until it crashes front-first into an ice boulder, knocking it out.

Ash now has a healthy lead, still with three Pokémon while Candice is down to her final one. Candice now summons her prized {{TP|Candice|Abomasnow}} as her final. Chimchar fires Flamethrower, but Abomasnow simply stays put and fires a powerful {{m|Blizzard}}, not only stopping the attack but overcoming Flamethrower and knocking Chimchar into an ice boulder. Seeing Chimchar is going to struggle against Abomasnow, Ash recalls it. He sizes up Abomasnow as being big and heavy, so it shouldn't be able to move very fast. Ash decides to utilize Staraptor's {{stat|speed}} and use Aerial Ace to take out Abomasnow in one hit. Staraptor goes into Aerial Ace, but Candice has Abomasnow use {{m|Ice Punch}} which not only slows, then stops the attack, but throws back Staraptor, leaving it to fall to the ground and knocking it out with one hit. Everyone is shocked at Abomasnow's power as Ash recalls Staraptor, and brings out Grotle. He commands a Rock Climb. Grotle immediately charges Abomasnow, but Candice has Abomasnow use {{m|Wood Hammer}}. Using its entire body weight, Abomasnow punches Grotle's head straight down into the ice, [[One-hit knockout move|knocking it out instantly]].

Ash is now really starting to feel the pressure against the power of Candice and Abomasnow as he recalls Grotle and brings Chimchar back out, his final chance to win the match. Chimchar launches a Flamethrower, but Blizzard once again stops that offense. Chimchar dodges the oncoming Blizzard and then hops backward to put an ice boulder at its back. An {{m|Ice Shard}} destroys the ice boulder as Chimchar leaps forward to dodge. Chimchar continues to dodge Abomasnow's onslaught, throwing up chunks of ice everywhere. Ash knows he needs to use speed as the chuckling Abomasnow advances on Chimchar. When he notices Abomasnow crushing a chunk of ice underfoot, he remembers how Sneasel was able to move about the ice quickly by skating. Ash tells Chimchar to jump on top of the ice boulders, and although Chimchar is surprised, it trusts Ash and obeys. Chimchar leaps from boulder to boulder until Abomasnow destroys one with a punch, sending chunks skittering across the ice field. Ash has Chimchar jump onto a big chunk, turning it into an improvised snowboard. Though wobbly at first, Chimchar gains control and uses intact ice boulders as half-pipe walls to maintain speed. It skates around Abomasnow, dodging attacks and launching Flamethrower attacks into Abomasnow's flank. Abomasnow eventually gets frustrated as Chimchar jumps off the ice board and over Abomasnow's head, letting Abomasnow get close. Ash tells Chimchar to finish it with {{m|Flame Wheel}}. Chimchar charges forward quickly and hits Abomasnow's chest dead center. It continues to spin forward as Abomasnow goes flying backwards, its feet sliding across the field. Abomasnow regains its footing and grabs the Flame Wheel, creating a huge steam cloud. Through the steam, Chimchar sees Abomasnow and prepares for another attack... but there's no need as Abomasnow has been knocked out. When the steam clears, Abomasnow tips forward and hits the ground.

Mr. Honcho announces Ash as the winner as he and his Pokémon celebrate, everyone congratulating Ash and Brock proclaiming what a great battle it was. Back at the school, Jeremiah is sick of waiting for Team Rocket to emerge from the shed and decides to send his {{p|Skuntank}} to squeeze through Glameow's old pet door, using its {{a|Stench}} [[ability]] to gas them out. They literally run through the wall and Team Rocket are sent running off again without the Poké Balls.

Outside Snowpoint Gym, Candice hands Ash the Icicle Badge. Ash holds it up as he and his Pokémon celebrate. While Dawn gives Ash his jacket, everyone is shocked by the sudden arrival of [[Paul]], who challenges Candice to a gym battle.

== Synopsis ==
{{Ash}} has chosen {{AP|Pikachu}} to battle Harrison's {{DL|Harrison (Johto)|Pokémon|Kecleon}}. Kecleon disappears by using its {{a|Color Change}} ability to evade {{m|Quick Attack}}. Pikachu {{m|Lock-On|locks on}} by listening, and he chases Kecleon but Kecleon uses its {{m|Lick}} attack to confuse Pikachu, then tosses him with its tongue. Harrison then orders a {{m|Psybeam}} attack, and it hits Pikachu but Pikachu stands up and hides in the grass. But Kecleon uses its tongue to {{m|cut}} the grass, but it is grabbed by Pikachu and Ash orders a {{m|Thunderbolt}}, knocking Kecleon out. Harrison recalls Kecleon.

Harrison then sends out {{DL|Harrison (Johto)|Pokémon|Sneasel}}, the same one he captured before the tournament opened. Pikachu uses another Thunderbolt, but Sneasel dodges and uses a {{m|Metal Claw}}, knocking out Pikachu.

Ash takes a second to collect Pikachu from the field, then sends out {{AP|Totodile}}. Totodile uses {{m|Water Gun}}, but Sneasel attempts to use Metal Claw, but Sneasel is {{m|Bite|bitten}} on the arm by Totodile. Totodile finishes Sneasel with its tail, leaving Sneasel unable to continue the battle.

Harrison chooses {{DL|Harrison (Johto)|Pokémon|Hypno}} to fight next. Totodile uses {{m|Leer}}, but Hypno is totally unfazed by the attack. Hypno then uses {{m|Hypnosis}}, taking full control of Totodile. Next Hypno uses a {{m|Psychic}} attack to knock Totodile out of the field!

Ash sends out {{AP|Snorlax}}, but Snorlax appears to be sleeping peacefully. Hypno takes the advantage of the situation by using {{m|Dream Eater}} on Snorlax. Snorlax then wakes up, angry at having its dreams stolen. Hypno is blasted by a {{m|Hyper Beam}} and is knocked out.

There's a five minute intermission due to 3 of Harrison's Pokémon being unable to battle.

As the second half begins, Ash takes out {{AP|Noctowl}} and Harrison chooses {{DL|Harrison (Johto)|Pokémon|Steelix}}. Noctowl hits Steelix with {{m|Confusion}}, but Steelix counters with {{m|Sandstorm}}, which blinds Noctowl. Noctowl is hit with a {{m|Dig}} attack from Steelix, and Noctowl attempts to use Hypnosis. However, Steelix then uses {{m|Iron Tail}} which knocks Noctowl out of the match.

Ash sends Snorlax back out. Snorlax was ready to use its Hyper Beam, but Steelix {{m|Wrap|wraps}} Snorlax up. Steelix then uses {{m|Crunch}} before Snorlax uses {{m|Ice Punch}} to be free from Steelix's Wrap. Snorlax proceeds to knock Steelix out with a Hyper Beam.

Harrison's next Pokémon is {{DL|Harrison (Johto)|Pokémon|Houndoom}}. Snorlax uses Hyper Beam once more. However, Houndoom uses {{m|Counter}} to deflect the attack and Snorlax ends up getting blasted by his own Hyper Beam, and is taken out of the fight. {{an|Brock}} is amazed that Harrison's Houndoom can use Counter.

Ash's next Pokémon is {{AP|Bayleef}}, a {{type|Grass}} Pokémon, which is weak to {{type|Fire}} Pokémon like Houndoom. Bayleef starts with {{m|Razor Leaf}}, but {{m|Flamethrower}} attack from Houndoom burns the leaves. Ash orders {{m|Headbutt}}, while Harrison orders {{m|Bite}}, but then, Bayleef uses {{m|Vine Whip}} around Houndoom's mouth, which prevents Houndoom from using Flamethrower and Bite. Bayleef tosses Houndoom to the ground, then finishes off with {{m|Body Slam}}.

Harrison is down to his last Pokémon—{{TP|Harrison|Blaziken}}. {{an|Professor Oak}} was surprised to see Blaziken, while Brock, however, notes Bayleef has to battle another type-disadvantaged Pokémon. Bayleef starts with Razor Leaf, but Blaziken uses its legs to kick the leaves in a flash instead of using its Fire-type attacks. Ash determines to stay Bayleef away from Blaziken, and orders Vine Whip. but it was caught by Blaziken, and Ash was surprised as Blaziken reels it in. Ash orders a Body Slam by using Blaziken's power, but Blaziken uses {{m|Fire Punch}}, and Bayleef is knocked out.

Now Ash is also down to his last Pokémon and he chooses {{AP|Charizard}}. Both Pokémon launch their Flamethrowers and the attacks meet in mid-air, resulting in a huge ball of fire.

The episode ends as the two Fire-type Pokémon square off.

* When Ash sent out Totodile, he threw a [[Poké Ball]], despite the fact that he captured it with a Lure Ball.
* Harrison's Steelix hits Ash's Noctowl with {{m|Dig}} which shouldn't be possible since Noctowl is a {{type|Flying}} and as such should not be affected by a {{type|Ground}} move.
* During the introduction the narrator says that Harrison is using Pokémon Ash has never seen before but it shows {{p|Kecleon}} as an example, even though Kecleon is one of the few [[Hoenn]] Pokémon Ash has seen before. Pikachu, Misty, and Brock appeared not to recognize the Kecleon either.
* When {{AP|Pikachu}} is hit by {{p|Kecleon}}'s {{m|Lick}}, he is shown with spiral eyes (which is normally used as an indication that a Pokémon has been [[fainting|knocked out]]) and yet is still able to battle. To make matters more confusing, when Pikachu is knocked out a couple of minutes later he is shown with the standard spiral eyes.
