Mauville City (Japanese: キンセツシティ Kinsetsu City) is located in central Hoenn, and a hub for travelers throughout the region. Its motto is "The Bright and Shiny City of Fun!" The roads of the town stretch north to 111, west to 117 and Verdanturf Town, east to a beach on 118, and south to 110. Because of the central location, all sorts of people travel through the town. Wattson is the Gym Leader and founder of Mauville. He originally had plans to do a complete overhaul of the town, but abandoned them. He specializes in Electric Pokémon.
Rydel's Cycle
Rydel's Cycles

A bike shop is located in Mauville City which is called Rydel's Cycles. It is very conveniently located for the owner and customers alike, as the Seaside Cycling Road runs on Route 110, just to the south. Rydel sells Acro Bikes and Mach Bikes. However, he will give the player a bike for free after he finds out that the player have come all the way from Littleroot Town with just Running Shoes. The player may exchange their bike with the owner for the other bike.

Mauville Game Corner
Mauville Game Corner

The Mauville Game Corner also draws tourists in. At the Game Corner, people can gamble coins on slots or roulette. This game corner houses two roulette wheels and sixteen slot machines. A Coin Case is needed to play at the game corner, which can also be found in one of the houses at Mauville City, in exchange for Harbor Mail.
Trivia
*Mauville City is the hometown of League Champion, Tyson.
*Mauville has part of a straight line of free path can be ridden on that breeders use when hatching eggs.
*"Mauville" is actually the French name of Violet City.
**Coincidentally, the town's French name "Lavandia" is the same as the German name of Lavender Town.
*Mauville City is very much a mix between Celadon City, Fuchsia City and Vermilion City from the Kanto region and Goldenrod City of the Johto region. Mauville has a game corner, underground passages, bike shop, connects to a bike route, is within walking distance of a Daycare, has the same or similar name/color scheme as Fuchsia City, is home to a Gym specializing in Electric Pokémon with various traps, has access to the sea or large body of water and is geographically in the center and south of the region like Celadon, Fuchsia, and Vermilion.
*Whereas Hoenn coincides with Kyushu, Mauville's location coincides with Kumamoto, Kumamoto.
Trivia
*Slaking has the third highest attack of any Pokémon in any game. However, it is tied with Regigigas and is surpassed by Rampardos and the attack form of Deoxys.
*Slaking has the highest base stat average of any non-legendary Pokémon, though its ability significantly ruins its potential.
*Although Slaking is said to slack off like Slakoth, it does not lose any of its added speed upon evolving from Vigoroth and it actually has a higher speed, but its ability makes it slack off.

Origin
It appears to draw inspiration from sloths and some form of ape.

Name origin
Slaking's name is a combination of slake, meaning to slacken, and king. Its Japanese name is a combination of 怠ける namakeru, to be idle, and king.
Trivia
Graveler has two pairs of arms, which was for some reason not visible in its Pokémon Red, Green and Blue sprites. Also, its second pair of arms are always seen on its chest and don't seem to be used.
Origin
Graveler doesn't share much in common with anything but stones.
Name origin
Graveler's name is possibly derived from gravel. It could also be a corruption of groveler, someone who bows at the feet of a superior. Its Japanese name may be a combination of golem and stone. Additionally, ゴロゴローン gorogoroon is the sound of rolling, a pastime of Graveler.
Golbat (Japanese: ゴルバット Golbat) is a -type Pokémon. It is a very common sight in many caves later on in all handheld Pokémon RPGs.

Golbat has the ability Inner Focus, which prevents flinching.

Golbat evolves from Zubat starting at Level 22, then into Crobat when it grows a level and its Tameness is 220 or above.

Biology
Physiology
Golbat has a large mouth with four fangs. It now has a small pair of white eyes. Golbat has short pair of legs and the same coloring as Zubat.
Gender differences
A female has smaller fangs.

Special abilities
They have a nasty bite. They can also confuse foes with Supersonic.

Behavior
Habitat
Golbat can be found quite easily in caves, particularly in caverns with limestone, which enhances their ultrasonic radar.

Diet
Main article: Pokémon food

It loves the blood and energy of humans and Pokémon and at night it flies around looking for victims. But when it absorbs blood its blood type changes to the same blood type as its victims.

In the anime
Koga used a Golbat against Ash's Charmander in his rematched battle against Ash.

In Round One - Begin!, a Golbat was the third Pokémon that Mandi used against Ash Ketchum during the first round of the Indigo League. It was defeated by Ash's Kingler.

Brock had a Golbat that he caught as a Zubat. It eventually evolved into a Crobat.

In The Ribbon Cup Caper, Brodie used a Golbat's Haze attack in order to make a get away after stealing a Golden Poké Ball.

A Golbat has also appeared in Mutiny in the Bounty, under the ownership of one of J's minions. The Golbat took a Volt Tackle from Pikachu and went on to receive another attack from it before going down.

The same Golbat reappeared in Ill-Will Hunting! under the ownership of another one of J's minions.

In the manga
Koga has a Golbat as one of his team members. This Golbat is special in that it is able to use Supersonic in order to project a clear visual of the locations of others, using its gaping mouth as a screen. Agatha also possesses a Golbat.

In the TCG
Golbat (TCG)

Trivia
*The Mr. Mime obtained through an in-game trade in Red and Blue was nicknamed Marcel. This is possibly an homage to the late Marcel Marceau. However, this was not kept in FireRed and LeafGreen, the same Mr. Mime is nicknamed Mimien.
*There was a guest villain in an episode of The Powerpuff Girls named "Mr. Mime".
*Mr. Mime originally had four fingers on its hands, but in Generation III it was given an extra finger.
Origin
It appears that it is based on a combination between a clown and a mime - together with a popular pantomime, pretending to be trapped in invisible boxes.
Name origin
Mr. Mime's name simply refers to mimes. Its Japanese name may be a combination of barrier and weird - indicating its ability to erect invisible walls. Its German name comes from the word pantomime.
