Haunter (Japanese: ゴースト Ghost) is a -type Pokémon.

Biology
Physiology
Haunter is a purple, ghost-like Pokémon with a roundish body. Haunter has spikes by the face. It has triangular eyes and a mouth with several sharp, purple teeth. Haunter has a pair of disembodied hands floating in front of it.
Gender differences
None.

Special abilities
Haunter's powers are stronger than a Gastly. Thanks to Haunter's newly developed hands, it can now use physical attacks, such as Poison Jab and the Elemental Punches.
In the anime
Haunter first appeared in The Tower of Terror. After Ash befriended it, he attempted to use it to battle Sabrina, but Haunter decided to goof off. At the end of Haunter Versus Kadabra, Ash gave the Haunter to Sabrina.

Morty used a Haunter to battle Ash in From Ghost to Ghost.

In Fear Factor Phony, a Haunter was living in an abandoned mine with several other Ghost Pokémon. The Ghost Pokémon were having difficulty with the partying Psychic Pokémon living nearby.

In the manga
Agatha used a Haunter as a part of her team in Pokémon Special, as well as a swarm of Haunter in her attack on Kanto.

Eusine was later seen with a Haunter in 14.

In The Electric Tale of Pikachu, Ash encounters a gigantic Haunter called the Black Fog, notorious for using its Dream Eater attack to kill people and Pokémon by stealing their souls. In this interpretation, Sabrina has a vendetta against this Haunter, as her Pokémon were attacked and killed by it when she was eleven, but she falls victim as well in her attempt to protect a team of people trying to hunt it down. With the combined effort of Ash and the team of hunters, the Black Fog managed to be weakened enough for capture, only for it to promptly use Selfdestruct, killing itself.
Trivia
*The prototype name of Haunter was "Spectre".
*Haunter and its pre-evolution Gastly are the lightest Pokémon in existence.
*In its Yellow Pokédex entry, it says that Haunter will take a person's soul by licking them. This means Haunter is the only Pokémon that kills humans and because of this, many fans call it "The Grim Reaper of Pokémon.
*Haunter and Muk are the only two Pokémon who don't gain weight during evolution.
*While it is over five feet in the games, it is only about three feet in the anime.
*It is very dark, to a near-black, in the first two generations, while it is a lighter shade of purple in the third and fourth generations.
Origin
It appears to be based on a generic sort of cartoonish ghost.
Name origin
Haunter's name origin simply means it is one who haunts, as ghosts are known to do. Its Japanese name is just Ghost.

Origin
It appears to be based on a generic sort of cartoonish ghost.
Name origin
Haunter's name origin simply means it is one who haunts, as ghosts are known to do. Its Japanese name is just Ghost.
Shaymin (Japanese: シェイミ Sheimi) is a Grass-type Legendary Pokémon of Generation IV.

Shaymin has not yet been officially revealed.

Biology
Physiology
Shaymin is a small, white hedgehog-like creature. It appears to have grass on its back instead of quills, as well as a pink flower by the side of its face. Shaymin is the shortest legendary Pokémon to date. According to the Pokédex figure of 0'08", it is also among the smallest Pokémon in existence, with its comrades being Diglett, Natu, Azurill, Budew, Burmy and Chingling.
Gender differences
Shaymin is genderless.
Special abilities
Shaymin has the ability to instantly purify the area it is in of all pollutants and transform it into a flowery field.

Shaymin is the only Pokémon so far that can use Seed Flare.

Behavior
Habitat
Shaymin live in flowery fields. However, since Shaymin can camouflage itself by curling itself up, Shaymin can easily escape people's notice.

Diet
Main article: Pokémon food

As a plant-based Pokémon, Shaymin most likely nourish themselves through photosynthesis.

In the anime
It is possible that Shaymin will have one of the main roles in the 11th Pokémon movie, which features Regigigas, because that Pokémon's hand is shown coming out of a flower field.

In the manga
In the TCG
Shaymin has made no TCG appearances.

Other Appearances
Shaymin was featured as one of the Pokémon released from a Poké Ball in the demo of Super Smash Bros. Brawl that appeared at Whobby 2008.

Trivia
* While Shaymin is yet to be acknowledged by official sources, it made an appearance in the demo of Super Smash Bros. Brawl that was featured at Whobby 2008 on January 13, 2008.
* Shaymin ties with Mew and Celebi for the highest catch rate among all legendary Pokémon; Jirachi and Manaphy are distinct from the aforementioned three in tying with many other legendary Pokémon for the lowest catch rate among all Pokémon.
* Shaymin is the smallest legendary Pokémon, and one of the shortest Pokémon overall, tying with Diglett, Natu, Azurill, Budew, Burmy and Chingling.
* This is the second event legendary Pokémon which was thought only to be received at a Nintendo event. However, in the Japanese version of Diamond/Pearl, it can be caught through a glitch involving Surf in the room of the first Elite Four member. Likewise, in other language versions, another glitch is said to get the player to reach Seabreak Path and Flower Paradise as well.
* Shaymin is the first pure Grass-type legendary Pokémon.
* Although Shaymin is a legendary Pokémon, normal wild Pokémon battle music plays while battling it.
* Shaymin is implied to be behind the creation of Floaroma Town, as one person notes it was a barren wasteland until one day flowers mysteriously covered it all.
* Marley makes brief references to Shaymin if spoken with during an excursion in Victory Road. She wants to reach the smooth rock on Route 224.
* Cheaters can reach Shaymin by using the infamous walk anywhere cheat. If they head north of the white rock on Route 224, they will reach the Seabreak Path in less than ten steps. They can then follow it straight to Flower Paradise.
* Shaymin seems to appear only when someone gives thanks for a significant blessing in their life. A girl in Floaroma Town states that the flowers the town is famous for appeared after someone gave thanks for nature's blessings. With Oak's Letter Shaymin will lead the player to Flower Paradise after they give thanks for their Pokémon journey at the white rock on Route 224.
* If Shaymin is left in the English version of Super Smash Bros. Brawl on March 9th, it will be technically revealed in America much sooner than expected, soon after Darkrai's reveal on January 26th.

Origin
Shaymin is based on either a hedgehog or porcupine, more likely the former. Its porcelian-white skin and its furry coat of grass also resembles a Chia Pet.
Name origin
Its name may come from the word shame, as it is a very shy and elusive Pokémon. It may also be derived from Shaman. The English name also is a slight alteration of its Japanese name. Its Japanese name, Sheimi, contains mi, which means "seed" in Japanese.

Onix first appeared in Showdown in Pewter City under the ownership of Brock. He used it in his journeys in Kanto and Johto before giving it to his little brother, Forrest, in A Family That Battles Together, Stays Together. At sometime before Grating Spaces it evolved into a Steelix.

Ash and co. encountered a giant Onix in To Master the Onixpected. It was on a rampage until Bruno managed to get a Sandslash from under the Rock Snake Pokémon's "skin." Bruno captured the Onix afterwards.

The Crystal Onix featured a Crystal Onix. Ash and co. helped a glass sculptor named Mateo search for it because Mateo believed it would help inspire him to be better at his craft.

In Hello Pummelo, Drake of the Orange Crew owns an Onix and he used it to fight Ash's Squirtle in the second round in the Orange League Champion match. During the battle with Squirtle, Drake's Onix dug underground and emerged to use Bind on Squirtle, but Squirtle used Withdraw followed by a Hydro Pump, soaking Drake's Onix into submission. After drenching Drake's Onix, Squirtle defeated the Onix with a Skull Bash.

Janina, Jasmine's apprentice, has an Onix in the episode Fight for the Light. Her Onix was heavily coated in wax for protection against Water attacks.

A "King Onix" was featured in Hooked on Onix. Team Rocket tricked King Onix into thinking Ash and co. were going to destroy his kingdom. When Ash managed to convince that he and his friends weren't bad by defeating King Onix in a battle, Team Rocket tried to steal the royal Rock Snake Pokémon (but their plan was foiled as usual).

Roark's Onix was first seen in Shapes of Things to Come where it was used against Paul's Elekid and Chimchar. In A Gruff Act to Follow, it defeated Ash's Pikachu but Pikachu managed to defeat it in a rematch in O'er the Rampardos we Watched.

A rampaging Onix appeared in DP046.

In the manga
Brock has an Onix in Pokémon Zensho, the Electric Tale of Pikachu, and Pocket Monsters.

In the Pokémon Special manga
Onix debuts in Onix is On! of the Red, Green & Blue chapter as Brock's main Pokémon, however a picture of it is showed on a leaflet in Wanted: Pikachu!. Onix later continues to make appearances with Brock in various volumes onwards.

Bruno owns a pair of Onix, on which he battles Bill, Lt. Surge and Red in Cerise Island. The Onix later manage to carry Bruno and Koga off the collapsing island.

Other appearances
Super Smash Bros.
In the original Super Smash Bros., Onix was obtainable in a Poké Ball. Once thrown it would fly up into the sky. A few seconds later it would begin to use Rock Throw which would pummel anyone who is not the user or team mate.

Super Smash Bros. Melee
Onix is the second Poké Float to appear. It provides a horizontally flat area all the time it is on-screen, though it becomes diagonal as it leaves the screen.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Onix has been confirmed to appear in Super Smash Bros. Brawl as a Poké Ball Pokémon once again.
*In Generation I, Onix was the tallest Pokémon, but in Generation II, it was dropped to second place by its evolution Steelix. When Wailord was introduced in Generation III, it became the third tallest.
Origin
Name origin
Onix's name is a corruption of onyx, a mineral. Its Japanese name is based on 岩 iwa, rock. It may be a combination of イワ iwa, rock and スネ−ク snake.

It has been suggested that Onix is based on a wyrm, a type of dragon that has been presented as limbless and burrowing.
Dialga (Japanese: ディアルガ Dialga) is a -type Legendary Pokémon.

Dialga is the version mascot of Pokémon Diamond, appearing on the boxart.

Dialga's signature move is Roar of Time.
Biology
Physiology
Dialga is somewhat dinosaur-like. It is mainly black/dark blue with some gray metallic portions, such as its chestplate, which has a diamond in the center. It also has various blue spots. It has a somewhat wing-like structure on its back, and a crest on its head, resembling a type of dinosaur. Dialga also has long claws and a short tail.
Gender differences
Dialga is a genderless species.

Special abilities
Dialga is the only Pokémon that can utilize the Adamant Orb.

Dialga has the ability to warp time. It is the only Pokémon capable of naturally learning Roar of Time.

Behavior
Being that Dialga, like Palkia, primarily resides in a different dimension, its behavior is nearly impossible to study.

Habitat
Dialga lives in another dimension, and can only be summoned to the main Pokémon universe by using the Red Chain.

Diet
Dialga appears in the tenth movie of the Pokémon anime along with Palkia. It fights with Palkia and Darkrai, nearly destroying Álamos Town.

A statue and silhouette of Dialga appears in DP036.

Dialga also makes a cameo in the Japanese version of the Diamond and Pearl theme song.

Dialga will even make an appearance in the eleventh movie, it seems that it will, once again, be battling Palkia.

In the manga
In Pocket Monsters DP, Hareta and Mitsumi set out on a journey with the intention of finding the god-like Pokémon, Dialga. Oddly, Palkia does not receive a mention.

Origin
Dialga is based after a dinosaur with a diamond.
Name origin
The Dia in its name is derived from the word diamond, even though the Japanese word for diamond is
ダイヤモンド daiyamondo. The "ga" part in its name may be a corruption of "gon", referring to its origin and type.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Japanese: 大乱闘スマッシュブラザーズＸ Great Fray Smash Brothers X) is the third installment of the Super Smash Bros. series, set to be released on the Wii in early 2008. As with previous installments, characters from various Nintendo video games will do battle with each other. The game will allow the use of the Nintendo GameCube controller, the Wii Remote alone, the Nunchuck + Remote control scheme, and the Wii Classic Controller. Non-Nintendo characters Solid Snake and Sonic the Hedgehog have also been slated to appear in the game.

Several game mechanics are being introduced in this sequel, like the ability to crawl, the existence of containers with wheels, and the ability of each character to perform an unusually powerful signature move called Final Smash.

Pikachu is the only returning playable Pokémon confirmed to appear in the game thus far, though more are expected to be revealed nearer the release. In addition to returning moves seen in screenshots, Volt Tackle has been confirmed as its Final Smash move. Interestingly, one of its new costume changes looks like Brendan's headband in Pokémon Emerald.

A Pokémon Trainer has been revealed as a new selectable character. The character design is based on the Generation III Red. He battles with Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard, which he cycles through in that order with his Down Special move, Pokémon Change. A first for the series, he only appears in the background, throws Poké Balls and gives his Pokémon, the actual fighters, commands. Squirtle knows Waterfall and Withdraw, Ivysaur knows Bullet Seed and Vine Whip, and Charizard knows Flamethrower and Rock Smash. In addition, Charizard has the ability to glide. The Pokémon Trainer's Final Smash move is Triple Finish.

The Poké Ball has been confirmed as an item, which is likely to result in the debut of many Generation III and Generation IV Pokémon to the series.
