'''Pokémon cloning''' is a [[glitch]] that occurs which enables a player to make an exact clone of a [[Pokémon]]. The most common way for it to be done in the [[Pokémon Gold and Silver]] versions is as follows:

#Save in front of a [[PC]].
#Deposit the Pokémon you want to clone.
#Switch boxes to a box that is ''empty''.
#When it says "do you want to overwrite saved data?" say yes. ''However'', while the capitalized word "SAVING" is on the screen, shut the game off. If your timing is off, you could erase your saved data. However, as long as you turn off the game from around the time "SAV" is on the screen to when the word "POWER" is shown, the game will be fine.
#Turn your game back on, and there should be the original Pokémon in your party, and a copy of it in your box. If you made the Pokémon hold an [[items|item]], that item will also be cloned.

'''Warning: Do not attempt this method in [[Pokémon Red and Blue]] or [[Pokémon Yellow]]. Attempting this glitch in the [[Generation I]] games will sometimes give you a cloned Pokémon, but it is much more likely that the cheat will erase your saved game by corrupting the saved data.'''

[[Pokemon Emerald]] also has a cloning glitch.

#Deposit the pokemon you want to clone in a empty box on the PC in the battle tower.
#Save in front of PC
#Withdraw pokemon you want to clone
#Join battle tower's link battle
#When it says 'SAVING DO NOT TURN OFF POWER', turn it off.
#Turn the game back on. The original will be in your party while the duplicate is in the PC.

Another method of cloning Pokémon is to pull out the trade link cable in the middle of a [[trade]], but it is unreliable and can sometimes erase the Pokémon you wish to clone altogether.

Number 5: /* Major Glitches */

'''Glitches''' are anomalies in a video game. They can cause various problems ranging from the purely graphical to completely wiping entire chunks of saved data.

They are usually caused by problems with a game's code, or from a player doing things the programmers did not anticipate, therefore causing the game to react unexpectedly.

In Pokémon RPGs, there are many glitches, due to the complexity of Pokémon. Glitches are listed below (bold = most famous).

==Major Glitches==
[[image:Glitch City Map1.jpg|thumb|right|250px|A variation of [[Glitch City]]]]
[[image:Wildmew.jpg|thumb|right|250px|A [[Mew]] being found in the wild]]
There are three Glitches (the first two are only avalible in the Red, Blue and Yellow versions; the third one is avalible in the Gold/Silver and Emerald versions) that do not ''necessarily'' always create glitched Pokemon, but are themselves glitches that cause events that would not normally happen in the gameplay.

Red/Blue/Yellow:

*'''[[Glitch City]]''' a mess of pixels that changes depending on where the player is
*'''[[Mew glitch]]''' allowing players to capture {{p|Mew}} without modification, and allowing players to not only catch [[Mew]] but also catch most of the glitched Pokemon listed below

Gold/Silver:

*'''[[Pokémon Cloning]]''' allows players in the Gold/Silver and Emerald versions to safely clone Pokémon, assuming they have good timing.

==Glitch Pokémon==
[[image:Missingno.jpg|thumb|right|250px|[[Missingno.]]]]
[[image:XxGlitch.jpg|thumb|right|250px|The [[X - x]] glitch Pokémon]]
A glitch [[Pokémon]] is a Pokémon that exists in a game due to a programming or level design oversight, and as it was not intentionally placed inside the game by [[Nintendo]] or [[Game Freak]], it might be hazardous to data in your game. Glitch Pokémon are to be avoided due to the risks they may pose to a player's save file.
===In [[Pokémon Red and Blue]] and [[Pokémon Yellow]]===
This is a chart of all 24 known glitch Pokémon that can be found in the wild in the Red, Blue and Yellow versions ''without'' using a cheating device:
==Glitch attacks==

A glitch attack, or glitch [[move]], is much like a regular attack except the results are often undesireable. These attacks are often known to be called TM attacks ('''TM01'''-'''TM55''' and '''HM01''' to '''HM05'''), and are also known to have glitch types ('''COOLTRAINER'''-type or '''999'''-type)

Like a glitch Pokémon, glitch attacks were not programmed into the game on purpose and many have been proven to cause damage to game cartridges.

There are ways to teach glitch attacks to certain Pokémon without usage of a cheat-code device such as [[Gameshark]], however, most of the time only glitch Pokémon will learn glitch attacks.

The only widely known ones are those for Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow. The attacks have the same effect on all three versions.

Also, the move {{m|Thunderbolt}}, when used in some Ruby and Sapphire cartridges, may cause the game to freeze.
===Glitch elements===

There are many different glitch types that are found to be the types of several glitched Pokémon. The most well known are:

*[[Bird (type)|Bird]], one of the types of the Red/Blue [[Missingno.]]
*[[999 (type)|999]] (A glitch type), one of the types of [[44]] and one of the types of the [[Missingno.|Yellow version Missingno.]]
*[[Pokémaniac (type)|Pokémaniac]], the type of the malicious glitch Pokémon "[[.4]]"

==Notes==
<nowiki>*</nowiki>The Yellow version [[Missingno.]] is different from the Red/Blue Missingno., but share the same name

<nowiki>**</nowiki>The glitch known as "[[.4]]" can corrput saved data, making it impossible to continue and forcing the player to start a new game.
