As of , it is the highest-leveled Trainer-owned Pokémon in the main series games.

In the games
In Generation I
Pikachu first appears along the outskirts of 1, where Professor Oak will encounter and caught it. The player receives Pikachu after they go into Professor Oak's laboratory and attempt to take the starter Eevee, which Blue will take instead.

Pikachu replaces all of the other usual starter Pokémon, Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle; although these three Pokémon can be received during events later in the game, which reflects how Ash Ketchum eventually obtained all three of Kanto's starters in the anime. This Pikachu is also the only Pikachu found in Yellow; other Pikachu must be traded in from compatible games.

After battling against Blue for the first time, the Pikachu will choose to stay out of its Poké Ball and follow the player around unless it faints, is put into storage, or is traded. If the player decides to speak to Pikachu, a small image of its current emotion will pop up. The image also shows how much the Pikachu likes the player. This makes Pokémon Yellow the first game to show Pokémon friendship, which would become more prominent in Generation II. Pikachu's friendship does not have many uses in the game, however it is vital if the player wishes to receive a Bulbasaur in Cerulean City. Besides showing Pikachu's emotions and friendship, the image can also show several other events, such as when Pikachu learns Thunderbolt.

Pikachu has several in-game events where it can show an emotion other than how happy it is. They include:
*If talked to right after losing to Blue, it will turn its back to the player.
*If talked to right after winning against Blue, it will appear uninterested in the player.
*If Pikachu is affected by a status condition, it will appear weak or in pain. If it is asleep, it will appear asleep when talked to.
**Playing the Poké Flute outside of battle will wake Pikachu up if it is asleep.
*If Pikachu has just learned Thunder or Thunderbolt, it may shock the player if talked to.
*In Pewter City's Pokémon Center, there is a Jigglypuff that will Sing a lullaby if talked to. After listening to the Jigglypuff, Pikachu will fall asleep and not move unless awakened by the player. The center's nurse will also comment on Pikachu's sleeping if talked to, instead of healing the party. Until the player awakens Pikachu, it can't be deposited into the PC.
*When the player goes to Bill's house and discovers that he has turned into a Pokémon, Pikachu will approach him and look confused. When he reappears in human form, Pikachu will appear to be shocked.
*If the player walks into the Pokémon Fan Club in Vermilion City, Pikachu will approach a Clefairy and fall in love with it.
*If the player uses a fishing rod then checks Pikachu, it will appear to have a bait bucket over its head.
*If taken inside Pokémon Tower, Pikachu will appear to be scared.
*If talked to right after catching a Pokémon, it will make a V with its fingers to represent victory.
*If talked to after losing a battle, Pikachu will appear disappointed in and unsure of its Trainer.
*If talked to after trying to give it a Thunderstone, Pikachu will shake its head in refusal.

Notably, like Ash's Pikachu did, this Pikachu will refuse a Thunder Stone given to it in Yellow, and not evolve into Raichu unless it is traded out of Yellow to do so. Raichu must be otherwise obtained by either trading in an already evolved one or trading in a Pikachu from another game.

When storing Pikachu into Bill's computer, Pikachu complains and becomes less friendly toward the player. If the player attempts to release Pikachu, they will be unable to and Pikachu will complain.

When Pikachu is stored in a PC and taken out, It will complain and become less friendly towards Red before turning it's back on the player.

Pikachu is also able to learn Surf if transferred into Pokémon Stadium, and will be able to participate in the Surf Minigame if it knows the move. In battle, its animations are different from other Pikachu, and its voice is based on Ikue Ohtani's as opposed to using Pikachu's normal cry.

If the starter Pikachu from Yellow is traded to Generation II, it will be holding a Stat-enhancing item.

Starting moveset
In Generation II
Red can be battled in Mt. Silver, with a level 81 Pikachu on his team. At the time, his Pikachu was the highest leveled Pokémon that could be battled in the main series. This Pikachu is likely to have been based on Red's Pikachu from Pokémon Yellow.

When brought into Pokémon Stadium 2, the player's Pikachu from Yellow still has its lack of a normal Pikachu's cry.

In Generation IV
Red's challenge at Mt. Silver returns in HeartGold and SoulSilver. He still uses Pikachu in these games; it is now level 88. This again makes it the highest level Trainer-owned Pokémon in the series, a title it lost to Barry's starter Pokémon on the release of Platinum only a year before.

In the final battle, it is holding a Stat-enhancing item, while it knows the four moves used by Ash's Pikachu most often prior to the release of the games.
{{Pokémon/4

In Generation V
Red can be battled in the Champions Tournament of Pokémon World Tournament in . He uses his Pikachu as his signature Pokémon once again in the battle, though it varies in gender.
In the anime
In the main series
Ash's Pikachu
Red's Pikachu is mostly based on Ash Ketchum's Pikachu in the Pokémon anime series.

In Pokémon Origins
Red's Pikachu briefly appeared in the Pokémon Origins episode File 4 - Charizard, where Red caught it with a Poké.

In the Pokémon Adventures manga
Pika
In Pokémon Adventures, a character named Red owns a Pikachu named Pika. While Pika is not technically Red's actual starter Pokémon, he is still one of Red's closest companions.

In the Pocket Monsters HGSS Jou's Big Adventure manga
Red's Pikachu appears at the end of The True Road to Becoming the Strongest!!, though it debuted as a cameo in the end of the previous chapter.
left clear

Trivia
*In Diamond, there is a park called Amity Square where players may walk around with a Pokémon following them. While only certain kinds of Pokémon may follow the player, Pikachu is one of the few and may reference Red's Pikachu in Yellow.
*Red's Pikachu likely inspired, at least partly, the concept of any Pokémon following the player outside its Poké Ball in HeartGold and SoulSilver.
*When battling against Red, Pikachu appears to come from inside his Poké Ball, contradicting his dislike of doing so in Pokémon Yellow.
*Although Pikachu initially resides inside of its Poké Ball until the player has battled with the rival for the first time in Pokémon Yellow, it still enters the first battle from outside of the Ball.
*Red's Pikachu is the only starter Pokémon that will not evolve unless it is sent to another game.
Red can be battled in Mt. Silver, with a level 81 Pikachu on his team. At the time, his Pikachu was the highest leveled Pokémon that could be battled in the main series. This Pikachu is likely to have been based on Red's Pikachu from Pokémon Yellow.
Red's Pikachu is mostly based on Ash Ketchum's Pikachu in the Pokémon anime series.

In Pokémon Origins
Red's Pikachu briefly appeared in the Pokémon Origins episode File 4 - Charizard, where Red caught it with a Poké.

As of , it is the highest-leveled Trainer-owned Pokémon in the main series games.

When Pikachu is stored in a PC and taken out, It will complain and become less friendly towards Red.

In the Pocket Monsters HGSS Jou's Big Adventure manga
Red's Pikachu appears at the end of The True Road to Becoming the Strongest!!, though it debuted as a cameo in the end of the previous chapter.
History
Red appeared in the first episode of the series, in which he was called by Professor Oak to see him in his Professor Oak. Along the way, he met up with his childhood friend and rival, Professor Oak's grandson, Blue, who was also called there. The boys raced to Professor Oak's lab, where he greeted them and explained that he was done with his new invention, the Pokédex. He explained that his lifelong goal was to make a full encyclopedia on all of the Pokémon in Kanto, but was too old to travel and collect data. He asked them to catch all 149 Pokémon to fulfill his dream, and that whenever they caught a new Pokémon, their data would automatically be input in the Pokédex. On a table, Red was given the choice of either Charmander, Squirtle, or Bulbasaur as both a starter Pokémon and a token of appreciation for willing to complete this task. He chose Charmander, and Blue went for Squirtle. Each young Trainer then began his journey.

On Route 1, he encountered a Pidgey, but was unsuccessful in catching it. However, when a Rattata came by, Red was able to catch it and add it to the Pokédex. Red's first Trainer battle was with a Youngster, but when he tried to catch his opponent's Nidoran♀ in a Poké Ball, it failed. The Youngster, now suspicious of Red, withdrew his Pokémon and ended the battle. The Youngster pointed to Viridian City as the location where he caught Nidoran♀, so Red decides to go there. On the way, he saw Blue and agreed to a battle. Both Trainers used their starter Pokémon, but Red forfeited after Charmander was pinned down by Squirtle's relentless Bite.

Brock noticed the disappointed Trainer and talked to him, cheering him up. Later, Red arrived in Pewter City and went to the Pokémon Center to video-chat with Professor Oak. After healing his Pokémon, Red visited the Pewter Museum of Science. As Red entered the Pewter Gym to challenge Brock, a Lass and her friend talked to him and said he had a million years ahead of him before he challenged the Gym Leader. Brock then appeared, and Red recognized him as the Trainer who had talked to him before. Trainer and Gym Leader did battle, with Red becoming the victor after a long match that took out most of his team.

Eventually, he was able to defeat Misty and Lt. Surge. He also encountered a crime syndicate called Team Rocket who had stolen the TM for Dig. Eventually, Red arrived in Lavender Town, where he heard about some ghost sightings in the Pokémon Tower, the town's Pokémon cemetery. Red went to the Lavender Volunteer Pokémon House and met one of its volunteers, Reina. Reina told Red that Team Rocket was near town poaching Pokémon, and how a newborn Cubone had lost its mother to them, and Team Rocket had then taken over the Pokémon Tower as their headquarters and kidnapped the owner of the Pokémon House, Mr. Fuji. Red decided to take Team Rocket on, so he went to the overtaken Pokémon Tower, where he encountered Blue again, who had heard about it too. A ghost then appeared and Red sent out his Charmeleon to deal with it. Blue tossed him the Silph Scope, which he had stolen from a Rocket Grunt in order to identify the ghost, which was then revealed to be Cubone's deceased mother, Marowak. Reina appeared with Cubone, who had a tender reunion with its mother. Team Rocket then found the group, but were defeated in battle by Cubone and Red's Jolteon, so they retreated. Red advanced to the Tower's top floor, where he found a tied-up Mr. Fuji. Red returned to the Pokémon House, where Mr. Fuji gave Red a Poké Flute and two mysterious stones. Red then departed from Lavender Town and continued his journey.

Now a more-than-capable Trainer, Red challenged and defeated both Erika and Koga in Gym battles. He found Team Rocket's hideout under the Rocket Game Corner, where he met their leader, Giovanni. Red then went to Silph Co., which had been overtaken by Team Rocket in an attempt to get the Master Ball, where he was able to free the Pokémon they had stolen and was rewarded by a Silph scientist with a Lapras. On the top floor, Red found Giovanni and saw that he was holding the Silph Co. president hostage. Red battled Giovanni with Charizard and lost horribly.

Red left Silph Co. and challenged Sabrina to a Gym battle, which he won. Red also went to the Fighting Dojo and challenged Kiyo, proving victorious again. Red rode Lapras to Cinnabar Island and visited the Mansion first, where he found the Pokémon Mansion journals. Afterward, he challenged Blaine to a Gym battle and won.

Red returned to Viridian City to challenge the final Gym, whose Leader was none other than Giovanni. Red had a rematch with him and even though Giovanni had the upper hand at first, Red was able to defeat him after a very long battle finally ended when Charizard defeated Rhydon. This defeat convinced Giovanni to disband Team Rocket, train to become a better person and Trainer, quit his job as the Viridian City Gym Leader, and respect Red as a Trainer.

Red went to Indigo Plateau and managed to get through the Elite Four. He discovered that Blue had become the Champion and challenged him still. The titanic battle was only decided when Charizard defeated Blastoise despite a type disadvantage. Soon afterward, Professor Oak came by to congratulate both Trainers and had Red follow him into the Hall of Fame, where he registered his data as one of the Trainers who defeated the Elite Four and Champion.

He continued his quest to fill up the Pokédex and caught almost every Pokémon, including the legendary birds. Red returned to Professor Oak's lab and saw that Blue had been injured by a powerful being in Cerulean Cave. Red asked Blue to show him, in Red's Pokédex, what Pokémon it was. Professor Oak then realized that Red had caught all 149 Pokémon in Kanto. Professor Oak asked what the stones Red had were for, which Red didn't actually know. He explained that he had gotten them from Mr. Fuji in Lavender Town. He also mentioned that the Pokémon that attacked Blue may have been a then-newly-discovered Pokémon called Mew, which he had read about in the journal in the mansion on Cinnabar Island. Red also remembered reading about Mew being cloned into a Pokémon called Mewtwo, which then escaped from and destroyed the mansion. Professor Oak said that this must have been the work of Dr. Fuji. Red then realized that Dr. Fuji and Mr. Fuji were the same people. Professor Oak, meanwhile, remembered reading about the stones and told Red to hold onto the smaller of the two stones and let Charizard hold the other.

Red then went all the way to Cerulean Cave to find Mewtwo. Upon finding the Genetic Pokémon, a battle commenced immediately. Mewtwo's incredible power overwhelmed Red's entire team, save for one: Charizard. With Red and Charizard almost drowning in the water surrounding the island they were fighting on, Red's Mega Ring reacted with Charizard's Charizardite X, which was revealed to be a Mega Stone from the Kalos region. The reaction allowed Charizard to Mega Evolve into Mega Charizard X. Its newfound power allowed Charizard to weaken Mewtwo enough for Red to attempt capture. After a failed capture attempt, Red threw an Ultra Ball at Mewtwo and successfully caught it. He then returned home to a dinner with his mother, Blue, and Professor Oak. Realizing his work on the Pokédex was not done yet, Red ventured off to catch the most elusive of all Pokémon, Mew.

Character
Red starts out as a well-meaning polite klutz with a heart of gold. His father named him to be warm-hearted with a strong sense of adventure like a powerful fire. However, he's not without faults as he tends to forget type-match ups and towards the beginning of his journey saw Pokemon as tool for battle rather than partners. Despite this, he has a strong sense of morality, and quick stand up for what he believes is right, even if others disagree.
----

A Pokémon Center (Japanese: ポケモンセンター Pokémon Center) is a type of building that provides regulatory services for Trainer. Pokémon Centers are found in most towns and cities of the world; every major city or town holds a Pokémon Center. Some Pokémon Centers can be found outside of towns next to large forests or caves. Pokémon Centers are built where many Trainers gather and the area becomes popular. This is to accommodate those Trainers in need and serve as a resting spot. The most common service the Pokémon Center offers is healing Pokémon free of charge.

In the games, Pokémon Centers consist of a healing station run by a Pokémon Center Nurse, a trading connection club, a battle connection club (neither of which require wired connections as of FireRed and LeafGreen), and various NPCs that vary upon location (in rural areas, no NPCs may be present). As of Generation V, salesmen from the Poké Mart and the deliveryman (in Generation V) or delivery girl (in Generation VI) appear when the Mystery Gift function is activated, due to its integration with the Pokémon Center. Mr. Medal also appears here in Black and White when awarding the player any Medals. The connection clubs are absent in Generation VI and are replaced with the Player Search System.

Fly brings the player to the Pokémon Center in the town or city chosen, and Teleport brings the player to the Pokémon Center they last visited (or to the Pokémon Center of the city or town they are currently in). Also, if defeated in battle, the player will appear at the Pokémon Center most recently visited (unless the player has not visited a Pokémon Center, in which case the player will appear outside his or her home).

In the games
Pokémon Centers are important buildings in the games and are found in most towns and cities, sometimes even on routes. Pokémon Centers are essential to Trainers as they provide many facilities and host most game mechanics. Non-player character Trainers and their own Pokémon are often found hanging around in Pokémon Centers, offering general advice and information on the events in the town or area it is situated in. Though the setup of the Pokémon Centers has varied slightly throughout each generation, all Pokémon Centers have the same core functions:

* A Pokémon Center Nurse heals all party Pokémon in a matter of seconds. This service heals all status conditions and recharges HP and PP of all party Pokémon, free of charge. The nurse is located at the main counter just as the player enters the Pokémon Center.
* Pokémon Centers also host the Cable Club and the Union Room, which facilitates multiplayer gameplay. Originally, linked players could only battle and trade with one another, but in later generations, players can mix records and play games together.
* Trainers also have access to a PC so that they can change out their party. Players are able to deposit and withdraw Pokémon, along with ability to store and withdraw items and display their Hall of Fame details.

In the Generation I, II and III games, saving inside a Pokémon Center is required to facilitate linking with console games such as Pokémon Stadium and Colosseum.

Generation I
In the Generation I games, a Pokémon Center consists of two counters on a single floor. The counter on the left has a Pokémon Center Nurse that will heal the player's Pokémon. The counter on the right contains the Cable Club, which allows players to link with each other. Talking to the women at the desk will allow the player to enter the Cable Club. Furthest to the right is the PC to deposit and withdraw Pokémon or items. The Generation I games also include two of the few examples of a Pokémon Center that isn't in a town: the Pokémon Centers in 4, outside Mt. Moon, and in 10, outside the entrance to the Rock Tunnel. Future generations employ rest houses that only offer healing services in similar areas.

RBY
RBY

Cable Club
Being the original link-up place, it is located at the far end of the Pokémon Center in Generation I Kanto. Players can link together to simply battle each other one-on-one and trade Pokémon with each other. Two players linked by a Game Boy Game Link Cable can enter the Cable Club. Yellow features an extended version of the Cable Club with the option to choose special battle rules or cups.

Generation II
In the Generation II games, to accommodate greater linking functionality, the Pokémon Centers of both Kanto and Johto expanded to two floors. On the first floor, there is the counter where a Pokémon Center Nurse heals the player's Pokémon, as well as a PC. On the second floor resides the Cable Club and Time Capsule.

In the Japanese versions and Korean versions of Gold and Silver, the sign of Johto's Pokémon Centers have a Poké Ball logo and the letters PC while Kanto's use the same sign as that of the Generation I games. In the localizations, the Generation I sign was used for both regions.

RBY
RBY

Cable Club
Located upstairs in Pokémon Centers throughout Johto and Kanto, this Cable Club consists of three rooms. The Cable Club Trade Center facilitates trading, the Cable Club Colosseum allows battle, and the Cable Club Time Capsule provides a way to trade Pokémon with the Generation I games. Because there were no female protagonists prior to Kris's introduction in Crystal, a player who has chosen Kris is temporarily swapped into the Ethan sprite before linking with a Generation I game or with Gold and Silver; this is still the case for two Pokémon Crystal games linked with each other, despite the sprite data for the female choice being present.

Two players can enter the Cable Club with a Game Boy or Game Boy Color Game Link Cable.

PokéCom Center
Pokémon Communication Center
Exclusively in the Japanese version of Crystal, the Pokémon Communication Center, or PokéCom Center, replaces the regular Pokémon Center in Goldenrod City, and takes use of the Pokémon Mobile System GB. It is in essence a prototype for the Global Terminal, justifying the placement of one in the city on HeartGold and SoulSilver.

Generation III
Pokémon Centers in the Generation III games keep the two-floor setup, similar to the regular Pokémon Centers in the Generation II games. The only difference is that the stairs to the second floor are larger and more noticeable, taking the shape of an escalator.

In Orre, there are only three official Pokémon Centers. They are located in Phenac City, Agate Village, and Gateon Port. The Agate Village and Gateon Port Centers do not have facilities for linking with the Generation III Game Boy Advance games; however, all have unique appearances. Self-service healing machines, identical to ones staffed by a nurse in a Pokémon Center, appear scattered throughout Orre, generally next to a PC.

E

Cable Club
Similar to the Cable Club of the Generation II games, Pokémon Centers in Generation III Kanto and Hoenn have a Cable Club Colosseum and a Cable Club Trade Center. Now four players can link with a Game Boy Advance Game Link Cable to battle in a Double Battle. A new feature was added to the Cable Club called the Cable Club Record Corner, which allows two to four Trainers to mix records. Mixed Trainer data shows up on television shows on TVs found all across Hoenn. Secret Bases are also copied over in the process.

Wireless Club
In FireRed and LeafGreen and Emerald, the second floor of Pokémon Centers house a Wireless Club. The Wireless Club meets in the Union Room, where up to 40 Trainers may (in groups of five) talk and battle, as well as trade via a trading board. The Cable Club's room has the standard Trade Center and Colosseum (as well as the Record Corner in Emerald).

Generation IV
In the Generation IV games, Pokémon Centers introduce a basement floor, which takes use of Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. Opposite the ground floor's escalator, another escalator downstairs to the basement appears. While the second floor retains the same features from the Generation III games, supporting up to four players using the native wireless connection of the Nintendo DS, the basement floor is where players can link up with others around the world using Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. The ground floor, as always, is where a player can heal their Pokémon and use a PC. As of Platinum, players can also challenge other Trainers inside specific Pokémon Centers also in HeartGold and SoulSilver in Olivine City.

In HeartGold and SoulSilver, the Pokémon Center's design receives a major overhaul. The second floor became a mezzanine, located above and directly behind the main desk, and two staircases were added on each side of the desk for access to it. The PC was moved to the corner of the desk. All functions remain the same. The player's walking Pokémon will return to its Poké Ball while being healed. If the first Pokémon in the player's party fainted prior to healing, it will return to being the walking Pokémon as soon as it has been revived.

DPcity
DPcity
DPcity

Wireless Club
Both Sinnoh and Generation IV Johto feature a wireless club just like Hoenn and Generation III Kanto, where players in a Union Room can battle, trade, mix records and, in Platinum and HeartGold and SoulSilver, spin Eggs. However, the Pokémon Centers in these regions also have a basement, where the Wi-Fi Club is located, allowing players to connect to each other if they are registered on each other's Pal Pad. Here they can battle and trade, and they can talk to each other through the built-in microphone of the Nintendo DS, instead of using the easy chat system as in the Generation III games; however, the easy chat system is also supported.

Wi-Fi Plaza
The Wi-Fi Plaza is an enhancement to the Wi-Fi Club in Platinum and HeartGold and SoulSilver and is located on the basement floor. Players from around the world can enter a plaza to make Poffins and play minigames together via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. The player can walk around the plaza and communicate with other players there. A leap in multiplayer gameplay is introduced, allowing up to twenty players to enter the Wi-Fi Plaza at a time. The player may only spend a certain amount of time at the Wi-Fi Plaza each day.

Generation V
In the Generation V games, the Poké Mart has been merged with the Pokémon Center. This is similar to how the Pokémon League lobbies of previous generations contain both a Poké Mart and a Pokémon Center. The PCs in this generation have a help function, which describes a wide variety of game-related topics.

As with HeartGold and SoulSilver, the second floor is a mezzanine above and directly behind the main desk. All multiplayer features found on the second floor of Pokémon Centers in the Generation IV games, including the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection features present in the basements, can be found here by talking to the attendant to the left and on the center, respectively. The attendant to the right allows players to access the Global Trade Station (GTS), as well as all the features from the Global Terminal expansion of it, such as playback of recorded videos. The Global Battle Union (GBU) can also be accessed here, allowing players to battle random players via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. The Geonet can also be found on the second floor, allowing players to register their real-world location, as in the Generation IV games. All Pokémon Centers except the one in the Pokémon League have a second floor.

Generation VI
In Generation VI, the wireless and online features previously accessible in Pokémon Centers are now handled by the Player Search System. As a result, the Centers are much smaller, as there is no need for additional floors anymore. The Pokémon Centers now consist of the traditional counter to heal the player's Pokémon, and two small rooms to the sides. The room located on the right of the counter houses the Poké Mart again, which is accessed by talking to an attendant. In certain towns, a second attendant who sells TMs, special types of Poké Balls, or other items is also present. The room to the left of the counter is a dressing room that allows the player to change clothes and register their favorite outfits.

If the player walks into a Pokémon Center on their birthday (as noted in the 3DS system), Nurse Joy will wish them a happy birthday.
In the anime
Pokémon Centers in the anime are headed by a Nurse Joy. The healing process takes place in real time, unlike in the games, so Ash and Ashfr often have to wait until their Pokémon are fully healed. All Pokémon Centers are connected and, in times of crisis, all Pokémon can be transferred from one to another, as seen in Pokémon Emergency!. Pokémon Centers are considered an important service, as shown in Celebi and Joy where, in the past, the town residents built a Pokémon Center as a community project.

Pokémon Centers are designed for Trainers so they can rest between training. Trainers use Pokémon Centers as gathering places, so they can share information about Pokémon. They also have access to video phones, PCs with trading functions and most offer free food and lodging. As a journey can take a long time, Pokémon Centers can be used as mailing destinations. A Trainer can arrange for their loved ones to send them packages, typically to the next Pokémon Center they're traveling to. Inside a typical Pokémon Center, one can find a front desk, a lobby (sometimes with vending machines), a Poké Ball room, an Emergency Room with plenty of beds for injured Pokémon, a recovery room, a waiting room, rooms for lodging, and a cafeteria. A lobby may also have a large widescreen TV or several smaller TVs so Trainers can watch typically Pokémon-oriented shows, such as Sinnoh Now, Pokémon Contest broadcasts, and major competitions like the League of each region and the Grand Festival. A typical sleeping room has a desk and chair and two sets of bunk beds to maximize space, and girls do not have to sleep in separate rooms from boys. At least one Pokémon Center was shown in Uncrushing Defeat! to have a small library with a PC (presumably connected to some network akin to the Internet), as an information room. It is unknown how these activities performed by a Pokémon Center are financed. On the outside, they come in all shapes and sizes, but usually have a rather large P somewhere.

As shown in The Ghost of Maiden's Peak, Pokémon Centers have a curfew for their residing trainers. At 11:00 PM a metal screen is lowered down in front of the Pokémon Center's doorway, preventing trainers from entering or leaving the Pokémon Center after curfew.

In Pokemon Origins
Pokemon Centers are headed by a Pokemon Center Nurse. The healing process takes place in real time, unlike in the games, so Red (Origins) would often have to wait until his Pokemon are fully healed.
P.CS. exist so Trainers and their Pokemon can rest between battles and various activities, they can also be used as social gathering places where you can share information about Pokemon with other people, they have access to video phones, PCs with trading and storage functions for Pokemon when you already have six slots filled.

Trivia
* For Dawn of a New Era!, Professor Oak's lecture is about Pokémon Centers. He writes this Pokémon senryū about it: ジョーイさん　あいたくなったら　ポケモンセンター "When I want to meet Nurse Joy, Pokémon Center."
* For Saving Darmanitan From the Bell!, Professor Oak's Live Caster is also about Pokémon Centers. He writes this Pokémon senryū about it: ジョーイさん　ポケモンセンター　やすみなし "Nurse Joy, Pokémon Center, without a break."
* The Pokémon Center's game background music has remained essentially the same throughout the franchise. It is notably different at nighttime in Diamond. A remix has also been used in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
* In the Generation IV games, if the "walk through walls" cheat is used to go past the desk, and the cash register-like object is interacted with, the dialogue will be the same one used when interacting with the shelves in a Poké Mart.
* In the Diamond, a healing machine can be obtained in the Underground to be placed in the Secret Base. However, it cannot heal Pokémon.
*In the original design document for Capsule Monsters, Trainers restored their monsters health by staying at inns and hotels, which provided healing devices in rooms.

RBY
RBY
RBY

RBY
RBY
RBY
RBY

RBY
Generation III
Pokémon Centers in the Generation III games keep the two-floor setup, similar to the regular Pokémon Centers in the Generation II games. The only difference is that the stairs to the second floor are larger and more noticeable, taking the shape of an escalator.

In Orre, there are only three official Pokémon Centers. They are located in Phenac City, Agate Village, and Gateon Port. The Agate Village and Gateon Port Centers do not have facilities for linking with the Generation III Game Boy Advance games; however, all have unique appearances. Self-service healing machines, identical to ones staffed by a nurse in a Pokémon Center, appear scattered throughout Orre, generally next to a PC.

;Ruby and Sapphire
E
E

If the first Pokémon in the player's party fainted prior to healing, it will return to being the walking Pokémon as soon as it has been revived.

;Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum ONLY
DPcity
DPcity
DPcity

==Trivia==
History
Red appeared in the first episode of the series, in which he was called by Professor Oak to see him in his Professor Oak. Along the way, he met Professor Oak's grandson, Blue, who was also called there. The boys raced to Professor Oak's lab, where he greeted them and handed them their Pokédexes and Poké Balls. On a table, Red was given the choice of either Charmander, Squirtle, or Bulbasaur as his starter Pokémon. He chose Charmander, and Blue went for Squirtle. Each young Trainer then began his journey.

Outside, he encountered a Pidgey, but was unsuccessful in catching it. However, when a Rattata came by, Red was able to add it to his team. Red's first battle was with a Youngster, but when he tried to catch his opponent's Nidoran♀ in a Poké Ball, it failed.

Later, Red arrived in Pewter City and went to the Pokémon Center to talk to Professor Oak. After healing his Pokémon, Red visisted the Pewter Museum of Science. As Red entered the Pewter Gym to challenge Brock, a Lass and another person talked to him. They then watched as Trainer and Gym Leader did battle, with Red becoming the victor after a long match that took out most of his team.

Eventually, he was able to defeat Misty and Lt. Surge. Red arrived in Lavender Town, where he heard about some ghost sightings in Lavender Tower. Red went to the Lavender Volunteer Pokémon House and met one of its assistants, Reina. Reina told Red about Team Rocket, how they treat Pokémon, and how a Cubone lost its mother to them. Red decided to take Team Rocket on, so he went to the overtaken Lavender Tower, where he encountered Blue again, who had heard about it too. A ghost then appeared and Red sent out his Charmeleon to deal with it. Blue tossed him the Silph Scope in order to identify the ghost, which was Cubone's deceased mother, Marowak. Reina appeared with Cubone, who had a tender reunion with its mother. Team Rocket then found the group, but were defeated in battle by Cubone and Red's Jolteon, so they retreated. Red returned to the Lavender Volunteer Pokémon House, where Mr. Fuji gave Red a Poké Flute and two mysterious stones. Red then departed from Lavender Town and continued his journey.

Now a more-than-capable Trainer, Red challenged and defeated both Erika and Koga in Gym battles. Red then went to Silph Co., where he was able to free the Pokémon that Team Rocket stole and was rewarded a Lapras. On the top floor, Red met Giovanni and saw that he was holding the Silph Co. president hostage.

This defeat convinced Giovanni to disband Team Rocket and respect Red as a Trainer.

Red returned to Professor Oak's lab and saw that Blue had been injured by some powerful being in Cerulean Cave. Both boys compare their Pokédexes to see who had a bigger collection. Professor Oak then explained to Red the Mega Evolution stones and their origins, as well as Mewtwo and Mew.

Red then went all the way to Cerulean Cave to find Mewtwo. Upon finding the Genetic Pokémon, a battle commenced immediately. Mewtwo's incredible power overwhelmed Red's entire team, save for one: Charizard. Just as it seemed as if not even his prized Pokémon could keep up a battle with Mewtwo, Red managed to get Charizard to Mega Evolve into Mega Charizard X. Its newfound power allowed Charizard to weaken Mewtwo enough for Red to attempt capture. After several failed Balls, Red threw an Ultra Ball at Mewtwo and successfully caught it. He then returned home to a dinner with his mother, Blue, and Professor Oak. Realizing his work on the Pokédex is not done yet, Red ventured off to catch the most elusive of all Pokémon, Mew.

This defeat convinced Giovanni to disband Team Rocket and respect Red as a Trainer.
