Jewel of Life (Japanese: 命の宝玉 Jewel of Life) is an artifact Arceus created out of its Plates, featured prominently in Arceus and the Jewel of Life.

In animation
In ancient times, Arceus was rescued by Damos after suffering critical injuries by protecting the world from a meteor's impact. In gratitude, Arceus created the Jewel of Life out of its Splash, Meadow, Earth, Zap, and Draco Plates and gave it to Damos to make the desolate land of Michina Town rich and fertile. Arceus stated that the Jewel of Life does not break due to the fact that it is composed of its Plates.

Damos was to return the Jewel to Arceus on the day of a solar eclipse, but due to being controlled by Marcus, he betrayed Arceus and did not return the Jewel. When Arceus woke from its long sleep and came to Earth to get its revenge, Sheena attempted to return the Jewel of Life, but it ended up being a forgery. The real Jewel of Life remained in Marcus's staff for many years until it was discovered by Jessie, James, and MTR. However, due to Ash, Dawn, Brock, and Sheena traveling back in time to change the past and return the Jewel of Life to Arceus, it soon vanished in the present.

In the manga
The Jewel of Life appeared in the manga adaptation of Arceus and the Jewel of Life. It played mostly the same role it did in the movie, although in this adaptation, Marcus planned to use it to become a god himself.

Trivia
* Damos can be seen holding a differently designed Jewel of Life on the poster for Arceus and the Jewel of Life. This design resembles the Adamant Orb and is significantly larger than the Jewel of Life that appears in the movie itself.
Hodge first appeared in Serving Up the Flute Cup!. He came to the Battle Frontier to participate in the Battle Frontier Flute Cup. When he tried to throw a bottle in the trash can, he ended up meeting with Ash. Soon after, Hodge's Mightyena appeared jumping from a bush, and Hodge ended up stopping Goh from trying to capture it, as Goh believed it to be a wild Pokémon.

During the Battle Frontier Flute Cup, Hodge's first opponent was Goh. Due to his opponent's inexperience, Hodge easily defeated Goh's Scyther and Goh using only his Mightyena. In the second round, Hodge faced a Trainer with an Altaria and defeated with his Mightyena. With this victory, Hodge managed to advance to the semi-finals. In the semi-finals, Hodge faced a Trainer who used a Metagross, defeating it with his Hariyama despite the type disadvantage. With another victory, Hodge managed to advance to the finals of the tournament, where his opponent ended up being Ash.

In the final round, Hodge first used his Hariyama against Mimey, who despite its best efforts was not able to win against the improvised moves that Mimey used in battle. Soon after, Hodge used his Mightyena, but Mimey refused to battle and this forced Ash to send out Pikachu. Although Mightyena started the battle with agile moves that confused Pikachu, Hodge and Mightyena ended up losing when Ash used an improvised strategy with Pikachu. After the battle, Hodge thanked Ash for the match.

Hodge reappeared in Absol Absolved!, in which he requested Ash and Goh's help in fixing the hot springs of Lavaridge Town, which the townsfolk believed was being caused by an Absol. After Ash and Goh successfully resolved the problem, the trio celebrated by taking a bath in the hot springs together.

Despite trying to demonstrate a threatening stance, Hodge is very friendly, quickly becoming friends with Ash and greeting him after their battle in the Battle Frontier Flute Cup.
Karna (Japanese: カーナ Khana) is a character of the day who appeared in Pokémon Horizons: The Series. She is a Poké Ball developer who lives in the Galar region.

History
In The Stolen Treasure, Karna was an unseen character, negotiating with Tepen over the phone for one of the Poké Balls that belonged to Liko and Roy. This situation made Liko, Roy, and Friede think that everything was a scheme created by the Explorers. When the situation was resolved, Tepen revealed the real identity of his contractor and where her warehouse was located.

In Orla and the Poké Ball Smith, Karna met Orla, Friede, Liko, and Roy when one of their machines malfunctioned. Roy showed her the Poké Ball belonging to the Black Rayquaza in his possession, but she didn't know anything useful. As the day went on, Karna and Orla repaired the machines in Karna's workshop, who suggested that Orla start helping Karna permanently. When a grouo of Galarian Weezing went on rampage, Karna and Orla joined forces to increase the factory's production so that the category can feed on the pollution generated by the chimneys. After everything returned to normal, Orla revealed to Karna that she couldn't help her, and Karna understood, but gave Orla one of her creations, a special Poké Ball.
In the past, Karna was taught by her former master that the Poké Ball should bring out the best in each Pokémon. Karna took this teaching with her by creating several varieties of Poké Ball, each with a specific purpose.

As a Poké Ball developer, Karna created some unique concepts used in her prototypes.
